Compatible wireless usb adapters

PLEASE HELP URGENT!
I am out of town and desperately need to find a " compatible wireless usb adapters" to run off my aunt's Linksys WRTG....old wireless router-she cannot remember her WPA security code?  I am using a MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion.
I am currently standing at Staples Tech support desk and they are searching too but seem to not be finding anything.

Linksys has several 802.11n adapters compatible with the AEBSn.

I personally own the first two, and they work perfectly with the AEBSn. All 4 use the same chipset, so I assume that the last two should work also.

  • Wireless USB Adapters compatible with 10.8

Since updating to Mountain Lion 10..8.2 on my MBP 2008 - 8 gig Ram, the system will not start up when my USB wireless stick is attached. Once I remove it, the system starts up fine. Pop it back in and it shuts down. I can plug other devices including USB music Keyboard, iphone without any problems. Occasionally I can insert the usb stick and wireless actually works but it is intermittent.
I use the stick as the wireless hardware inside the MBP is damaged and have been using it like this for around a year on Snow Leopard without any problems. I also updated the drivers for my USB stick which is made by Realtek.
I repaired disk permissions and reinstalled Mountain Lion before posting this but the problem still persists.
Does anyone recommend any USB adapters that are compatible with 10.8??
    Kind Regards

  • Airport Extreme Compatible Wireless N Adapters

I have an Airport Extreme and would like to connect a PC and an Apple Mac G5 PPC to it via wireless N at 5ghz only.
Can any recommend a compatible wireless adapter (PCI or USB)?
    regards
    Phil

I would not recommend the macwireless booster. I got a minibooster from them--the connection between the router and the antennae is very weak--it's kind of on a little leash--and is hard to secure in a single position. Mine broke after the first week of use. I tried to return it to them, they would not replace it and did not refund. They would not own up to a design flaw on this unit, and blamed the customer.

  • Any ideas on a cheap 100% airport compatible wireless usb device?

I need to upgrade my wireless to n, and wish to do so with a USB wireless dongle. I tried using one but it was incompatible with airport and resultingly was slow and inefficient, not to mention i couldnt actually connect system wide to my LAN, and cant use ssh and ftp with my other computers D:. I also cant port forward my server :'( because my stupid adapter doesnt have a recognisable static IP . But it gets worse, because when i go online searching for an adapter, every one of them costs around £50 (~$90?) Does anyone know of a suitable good g/n wireless usb adapter that works with airport and doesnt cost a bomb? It really lets the OS down if i cant use the internet.

Please check out this wireless USB adapter offered by Other World Computing.

  • Mac Compatible Wireless USB Dongle

Recently, I purchased a used iBook G4 (Mid 2005). The price was right, but the seller informed me that there was an issue with the Airport card. That issue being that the computer would kernel panic whenever airport was turned on.
I have been running the computer smoothly with airport turned off and a direct connection to the internet. However, the lack of portability is becoming frustrating, and rather than pay to have the computer serviced, or replace the card myself (Airport Card is not a DIY on the mid 2005 iBook like I initially thought), I decided to buy a USB dongle to connect to my wireless network.
However, after several frustrating searches, I have been unable to find a USB dongle that is Mac compatible. I imagine that many are compatible with OS X 10.4.11 even if it isn't explicitly mentioned, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a good USB dongle that I would be able to use with little to no problems.
Ooops! Should have marked this topic as a question. My apologies ...

http://www.macwireless.com/ may have a solution for you, but it won't be USB. You can attach an ethernet wireless router to the ethernet port of the machine and share a wireless network with another wireless router. I don't recommend using USB wireless dongles as they tend to be slower than you may want, and frequently they only have non-standard drivers, which can get very picky if the machine falls asleep.

  • Setting up wireless usb adapter

I have now purchased 2 Wireless USB Adapters in an attempt to wireless enable my old imac. The first product called the Etec Mac Compatible Wireless 802.11G USB dongle would not work. After being sent a CD with Windows only software I was told by the supplier to go to Etec's website and download the mac driver. I tried installing the driver but there seems to be a problem with the ZD WLAN software and I get no drop down items in the menu to configure the adapter.
The supplier has now sent me a Zyxel G202 802.11g adapter and again - the disc with this product has no mac softare only windows. So I've found the Zyxel website and downloaded the mac driver only to find it is exactly the same driver I was told to use with the Etec product. I've uninstalled the Etec download and installed the Zyxel download but get exactly the same problem. The version I've downloaded is ZD1211MacPkginstall_4_5_7_0_OSX103
Does anyone know how to setup either the Etec of the Zyxel adapter for my imac which is OSX 10.3?

Many thanks for your reply. I've just tried linking directly to the hub with an ethernet cable and that works fine. I don't know what security the hub has - not sure how to find out. The friend who lent me the netgear wireless ethernet bridge is a network consultant and could not get connected to the hub. We can connect to my neighbour's wireless network which is not a BT Homehub network so the problem lies with the BT Homehub but BT could not advise me.
I would prefer not to use a cable to connect as it is difficult to get this under the floor etc and the whole reason for getting the homehub was to create a wireless network. So I'm still searching for a wireless solution.

  • I need a wireless usb adaptor for a Power Mac G4... any suggestions? (needs to be compatible)

I need a wireless usb adaptor for a Power Mac G4... any suggestions? (needs to be compatible)

With Mac OS X 10.3 or higher, a number of USB Wi-Fi adapters would be possible to use. However, for an earlier operating system, a wireless Ethernet bridge (such as the examples below) can be a better (and sometimes the only) option. A wireless Ethernet bridge does not normally require special drivers, and can thus be used with almost any Ethernet-equipped computer.

  • OS/X Compatible Wireless Adapters

I've been thinking of buying the new Airport Extreme to get support for 802.11 AC wireless.  However, I cannot find a wireless adapter that supports OS/X.  I assume that Macs down the line along with the new MacBook Air will have built-in support but w/o it, why would anyone want the new routers?
Does anyone know of an OS/X compatible wireless adapter that supports 802.11 AC?
    Thanks in advance,
    Bud Cook

However, I cannot find a wireless adapter that supports OS/X.
That is the case, as far as I know at the present time. Even if there were an adapter available, the current USB2 port on most Macs would not allow much higher speeds than current 5 GHz wireless already delivers. So, nothing really gained in most cases.
why would anyone want the new routers?
Additional antennas and a new improved antenna design should help all products
Much lower operating temperatures and power consumption
Compatibility for future 802.11ac capable computers
Probably no significant reason to dump your current router if it is performing well, but it would make sense to take take a look at the new products if you are in the market for a new router.

  • Recommend a wireless USB adaptor that is Mac compatible?

As I really need my MacBook to see wifi networks and not being able to wait to see if 10.5.3 fixes up the airport problems I was wondering if anyone has used and can recommend a wireless USB adaptor?
    Thanks for any help

I haven't used it, but it is sold by a Mac-centric vendor that I trust, OWC. If they sell it, it probably works well with Macs.

  • Where can I find a list of USB adapters that work in OS X.4?

My friend is trying to get his Mac up and running on a wireless network and he has bought a few USB adapters, but they aren't compatible with OSX.
I tried the Ralink drivers, but it stays connected for around a minute, then drops the connection.
So, if anyone has a list of compatible USB adapters for OSX, I'd appreciate it.

Here is the only product update page that I'm aware of at the Adobe.com website:

    in connection with this message.
    Can anybody help me?
    what is this message?
How can i configure our network or adapter to use it well?
    With thans,

Looks like the client is not seeing the required Information Elements on the beacon(s).
See similar case for 7920 support mode. 7920 contains two options:
•Support for 7920 phones that require call admission control (CAC) to be configured on and advertised by the client device (these are typically older 7920 phones)
•Support for 7920 phones that require CAC to be configured on and advertised by the access point (these are typically newer 7920 phones)
When access-point-controlled CAC is enabled, the access point sends out a Cisco proprietary CAC Information Element (IE) and does not send out the standard QBSS IE.
Enter this command to enable 7920 support mode for phones that require client-controlled CAC:
    config wlan 7920-support client-cac-limit {enabled | disabled} wlan-id
Note You cannot enable both WMM mode and client-controlled CAC mode on the same wireless LAN.
Enter this command to enable 7920 support mode for phones that require access-point-controlled CAC:
    config wlan 7920-support ap-cac-limit {enabled | disabled} wlan-id

    Hi,
The USB must not be plugged prior prompted to plug it by the installation.
Make sure to unplug the USB first.
Enter Devices and Printers and remove any existing instance of the printer and reboot the PC.
Launch the software installation once again or look for any option to Add a Device or REconfigure the Wireless Connection under All Programs > HP.
Only once the installation prompt you to connect the device, plug the USB abd the software should proceed.
