We are a small architectural practice with ~50 users doing CAD & Graphic design work. We have large Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe files. This makes up at least 4 TB of our storage. Most of this is cold storage, but latency on Revit files has been an issue before. We have an accounting database running on SQL that has some performance issues since moving away from an older local storage server to the new virtualized environment when its server was retired.We are looking to replace an existing EqualLogic PS4100e with 7 TB usable that is close to being full with our server (VMware 2 host cluster) storage. We are looking to add 2-3 VDI servers to do high powered Virtual Desktops with NVIDIA GRID cards. I have a big IF statement which alters an element based on the radio buttons that are selected. This work perfectly in Firefox, but not in IE. From my Googling, the best way to check a value in IE is to loop through the elements, which makes the IF statement extremely ridiculously complex as I'd have to loop through every single radio button set, assign the values to a variable and then write an IF statement based on the resultant variables.Surely there is an easier way.

Windows Server 2008R2 - Adding additional New Fibre Channel Storage will I need to reboot after mpclaim?

I am replacing an MSA 1500 Fibre Channel array with an MSA 2040 on a live system. The new array has been installed physically and connected to the switch fabric.
Both arrays are connected to a common switch fabric. The new array can see all the physical hosts on the SAN, and I have managed to setup MPIO on the least critical box but rebooted that one as I used the -r -i -a options. My question is will I be able to
run mpclaim -n -i -d "HP MSA 2040 SAN" and not have to reboot afterwards? I have read every piece of documentation and some seem to hint this is possible in 2008 R2 and later but it is not explicitly clear as MS haven't updated
all their docs to detail differences.
I suppose I am after the wisdom of experience.
Since MPIO has already been installed and working for a different array I am hoping any requirement to reboot should not be there?

Hi,
If the server cannot be rebooted at the time the command is run, you could use the -n switch instead. The devices will not be claimed by MPIO until the server reboots.

Map a SAN LUN to a WS2012 R2 virtual machine

Hello,
I need some help from someone who has dealt with this before.
I have:
an HP DL380 G6 running the unlimited eval copy of Hyper-V Server 2012 R2.
an HP MSA 2040 SAN enclosure.
a WS2012 R2 Std. x64 virtual machine running on the Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 host.
an HP/LSI SAS 9207-8e host adapter.
I've been asked to configure the WS2012 R2 Std. x64 virtual machine as a file server, but really the data will be on an MSA 2040 SAN enclosure volume, so I need to map an LUN from the MSA 2040 to the WS2012 R2 Std. x64 virtual machine.
Of course I can't actually install the HP/LSI SAS 9207-8e host adapter into the WS2012 R2 Std. x64 virtual machine, but is there an emulation/software solution for this?
If I install the physical HP/LSI SAS 9207-8e host adapter into the physical Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 host, will I be able to add a virtual version of said host adapter to my VM?
I'm searching and reading posts now, but if someone, who knows, has the answer, I would really appreciate a pointer or two.

Domain Environment - Server 2003 AD with DFL/FFL set to Windows Server 2003.
1 - HP DL308 G6 running the unlimited eval of Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 (core).
1 - member server (desktop class hardware) running WS2012 R2 Std. (used for remote mgmt.).
(there are 5/6 netsh advfirewall firewall commands that need to be run in order to use the computer
mgmt. console on a WS2012 R2 Std box to manage the Hyper-V Server core install; look 'em up.).
1 - HP MSA 2040 Enclosure with Dual Controllers - purchased in the last two months; no firmware changes
have been made.
1 - HP/LSI SAS 9207-8e HBA - purchased in the last two months.
2 - SFF-8644 to SFF-8088 SAS HBA connector cables - purchased in the last two months.
Two SAN volumes were successfully mapped to the phys. SAS 9207-8e HBA in the Hyper-V Server using the

disk 2 1117.11 GB bus 0 lun 2 target 2
a rescan disks in disk mgmt. on Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 (core) did not show any new drives yet; that's

I selected scsi disk 1 in the File Server VM's settings > scsi ctrlr > hard drive > physical disk
option, and did likewise with the second scsi hard drive phy. disk 2.
Then I started the File Server VM, and logged in > opened the computer mgmt. console > disk mgmt. >
EUREKA! > there were two, new, unknown/offline/unallocated disks.
The properties of both offline disks identified them as an "HP MSA 2040 SAS SCSI Disk Device"
the offline disk info ballon reads "offline (the disk is offline because of policy set by an
administrator)
Disk 1 was set to online and initialized as GPT (went with GPT due to size/plans for future growth).
I created a simple volume partition and formatted it as ntfs (1115.6 GB)
new simple volume > used all available space (1142370 MB) > drive letter E > format partition > file
system = ntfs > allocation unit size = default > volume label = DATA > perform quick format deselected.
the activity led on ctrlr A was now green and blinking.

I opened a unc window to \\VirtualFileServer\e$, pasted a text file and deleted it.

What new printer to buy?

My niece needs a new printer to use with her 3 year old iBook. It doesn't have USB 2.0 and I think she's running 10.2.8. Her free printer that she got when she purchased the iBook has died. She prints mostly text and the occasional photo or color page. She's looking for an inexpensive or reasonably priced printer that works well. It would be great if the ink cartridges either lasted a bit longer than the norm or were reasonably priced.

Avoid HPs. The hardware is magnificent, the software *****. if you must buy HP, get 3rd-party software. Usually free. Usually far better than HP's software. I have several HPs here, but I also use 3rd-party drivers for them, HP's own software irritates the **** out of me. If HP would wake up and produce even half-assed software I'd say that HP printers beat every other vendors' stuff.
Epsons work well. They drink ink something awesome if you use best output and do a lot of graphics. If the print heads jam you might as well just get a new printer, that boy's history. There are Epsons which sell for about $40-50. They're basically disposable printers, as the black cartridge for them costs about $20 and the colour cart about $25, so what Epson's saying is that when you run out of ink, buy a new printer.
Canons give very good output but the ink's expensive. A lot of Canons (and several Epsons) now come with ink in separate carts, so that instead of two carts, one black and one tricolour, you have four carts, one black, one each magenta, cyan, and yellow. (High end printers can have additional colours: light magenta and light cyan are commonest, but there's also light black and light yellow. And metallic colours, such as gold and silver.) Typically each cart in a four-cart machine will cost about $10-15, so they look cheaper than the carts for traditional two-cart machines. But you get less ink per cart, and four carts still add up to $40-60...
If she doesn't really need colour, and the budget can extend to a low-end laser, HP and Brother and other vendors have sub-$150 monochrome lasers. Brother's HL2040 lists for $150, and is commonly available for $100, for example. The HL2070N is the network version of the 2040, and lists for $200. I got mine for $135. I spent more than that on ink for my herd of HPs over a year.

ERROR WHILE SAVING - MSA 4.0

I get this "Error While Saving" error when i save an affiliations or save a call activity. this error is very inconsistant. I get it sometimes and sometimes not. Can please someone help me with this? Soemtimes it even saves after throwing this error.

Ensure you have generated the application both BOL and UI completely.
Also do the following steps.
1. Close Mobile Client and any other applications if its running.
2. Could you confirm the following files are registered -
   All dll and ocx in <<Installation Directory>>\Sap\Mobile\bin and in
   <<Installation Directory>>\Sap\Mobile\3rd_Party.
3. Ensure that TeeChart.ocx is present in 3rd Party folder
   If not copy it from another client machine and register it.
Also register the MSA.dll and sfabol.dll

How to get all AD User accounts, associated with any application/MSA/Batch Job running in a Local or Remote machine using Script (PowerShell)

I am working in an AD migration project (Migration from old legacy AD domains to single AD domain) and in the transition phase. Our infrastructure contains lots
of Users, Servers and Workstations. Authentication is being done through AD only. Many UNIX and LINUX based box are being authenticated through AD bridge to AD.
We have lot of applications in our environment. Many applications are configured to use Managed Service Accounts. Many Workstations and servers are running batch
jobs with AD user credentials. Many applications are using AD user accounts to carry out their processes.
We need to find out all those AD Users, which are configured as MSA, Which are configured for batch jobs and which are being used for different applications on
our network (Need to find out for every machine on network).
These identified AD Users will be migrated to the new Domain with top priority. I get stuck with this requirement and your support will be deeply appreciated.
I hope a well designed PS script can achieve this.

for this analysis, where more than 200000 users getting logged in through AD. It is the fact that when a batch / MS or an application uses a Domain Users credential with successful process, automatically a successful logon event will be triggered in associated
DC. But there are also too many users which are not part of these accounts like MSA/Batch jobs or not linked to any application. In that case we have to get through unwanted events.

So I think, can a PS script be designed to get the report of all running applications which use domain accounts for their authentication to carry out their process. So from that result we can filter out the AD accounts being used for those
applications. After that these three individual modules can be compacted in to a single script to provide the desired output as per the requirement in a single report.

Query Performance in OLAP MSAS Universe using Filter

I see this huge performance difference in using a filter i have built for Today. Here are the MDX's- i ran the query in webi and isolated the mdx using SQL profiler

This appears to be a generic database or OS issue, not a Text specific issue. It really depends on what your application is doing.
If your application is doing some other database activity such as queries or DMLs on other non-text tables, chances are Oracle Text related data blocks are being aged out of cache. You can either increase the db_cache_size init
parmater or try to keep the text tables and index tables blocks in cache using ALTER TABLE commands.
If your app is doing NON-database activity, then chances are your application is taking up much of the machine's physical memory such that OS is swapping ORACLE out of the memory. In which case, you may want to consider to add more memory to the machine or have ORACLE run on a separate machine by itself.

Error when trying to create new BP in MSA 5.0 SP08

We have currently an issue in MSA 5.0 SP08 when we are trying to create a new BP. We receive the message "Relationship (Employee) - Error handler in function EvalsfakvbeztpfromReltyp reached". Looking into the code we find this error handler in the BOINTBPEMP :
The error is triggered when the standard method CreateBusineesObject is invoked. Sfamitabt contains a guid but it's a string and as you can see, the method should wait an object. Not sure if it is the source of our problem:

However, I can confirm that SFAMITABT contains a valid guid (i checked smomitabt) and i also tried during the debug session to change interactively the guid with an other valid one, but i still have this problem.
I started the sql profiler but i saw nothing relevant in there.
I modified the sensitivity for the debug in order to see if i will have more informations but without success and the MSIL (intermediate languaged) did not help me more.

Well the problem isn't a problem it is SAP standard behaviour you simply can't configure customer tasks (type T in PFTC)
You can only configure Standard Tasks (TS) or workflow templates (WS)

Just had a look at the SAP help and indeed types T aren't allowed anymore SAP gives the solution to copy the customer task, this will automatically change it to a standard task

IPC error message when starting MSA

Hi,
A bit strange but every time we start Mobile Sales [standard SAP 5.0 SP08], we get a message "Installation of Internet Pricing and Configurator is incomplete". We are able to access Mobile Sales, but the strange thing is that IPC was not set as an option during install.

Please check the following for IPC
1. DO you need IPC? ( it does the pricing and configuration for MSA).
If no then you can do as mentioned earlier for MSY that should work.
2. if the answer is yes and if you need that to be restarted automatically every time check whether it is part
of start up for all users in your documents and settings, this ensures that you dont have to restart
IPC every time you log in.
3. once IPC starts there will be a cross mark on the IPC system tray icon until it becomes fully up
and running.
4. then you start your application.
Prerequisites for IPC to work are :
1. you need to have j2SDK not JRE whose version is betwen 1.4.2_03 to 1.4.2_12.
2. if its SQL 2000 server then SP04 of SQl server 2000 is a must.
3. after IPC is installed then go to run->cmd and give command <b>set cat</b> it should display
ipc installation path.
go to run->cmd and give command <b>set java</b> it should display j2sdk installation path, along with
some other setting totally two.
this ensures that ICP installation is complete.

HT203175 The latest version of iTunes freezes my computer whenever I try to open it. Needless to say, this is infuriating. I have Windows XP, which should support the latest version. I am particularly exasperated, because iTunes compelled me to download.

iTunes compelled me to download the latest version, before I could complete a transaction (which, needless to say, was botched). I have Windows XP, and I cannot open iTunes now without freezing or crashing my computer. This is utterly frustrating, since I can't even play any holiday music, much less update my iPod.
Can I uninstall, and reinstall the older version? I do not need all the bells and whistles, and I detest the new format (even if it were to run on my computer)?
I'd love to be able to access my Xmas playlist someday.

What didn't work? Removing everything or just the older version of Bonjour? Did you follow the instructions in the link I provided above to walk you through the process?

Can't install the software for the Brother HL-2040 series because it is not currently available from the Software Update server.

HP PSC 1315, Brother HL-2040 & D-Link DPG321 wireless print server

Hi all...I've had the D-Link wireless print server for awhile, and originally had an ancient Samsung attached to it.
Now though, the old Samsung printer is gone and I'm using the print server in my office with my new Brother HL-2040, which connected to my Mac effortlessly...super easy.
The problem comes in hooking up my HP PSC 1315 AIO to the wireless print server's second port. I've read a ton of postings in the last couple of days indicating the HP driver won't support this, so I downloaded the hpijs driver.
The Brother printer is hooked up to queue 1 (ps-5c714d-u1) per our documentation, and I'm trying to get the HP hooked up to queue 2 (ps-5c714d-u2), but absolutely nothing will print to it. One note - I'm not getting any error messages. When I pull up the printer to view the jobs, it looks like it's completed printing, so I'm not sure if it's stuck somewhere in the print server or what.
The HP works fine when connected directly via USB to my MacBook Pro - so the issue isn't with the printer itself or the cabling.
We CAN however, manage to print to the HP from our Windows XP desktop in the other room, interestingly enough.

No, I didn't. Originally when I was doing all my research, I thought I only had to download that if I had Mac OS 10.2 or below...in retrospect now I'm not sure why I thought that.
I've now downloaded the file though, and have no idea what to do with it. In reading all of the installation info, I'm thinking it might just be easier to walk over to the printer and plug it into the USB port of my MacBook when I need to use it!
Thanks for the suggestion...not sure I have the constitution to keep fighting the good fight on this.

What compelling reasons are there for UK users to upgrade nano - vid ipod?

I just wanted to point out a very fundamental flaw in Apples grand plan at the minute (at least as far as the UK is concerned).
I'm a recent convert...I love Apple....I breathe Apple ...I buy their products everyday but at the minute I see no compelling reason to buy a Video Ipod or buy the iTV.
Theres one simple answer....CONTENT
Tell me what content there is that makes the iTV or the Video Ipod a worthwhile buy for UK users and I'm not counting music video's here as not everyone likes that.
TV Shows - Why doesnt iTunes UK have TV shows yet ????. The BBC loves new digital media and is spending loads of $$$ on it. They're launching simulcast 3G streaming on UK mobile networks (Virgin Mobile) so it seems silly to me that Apple hasn't at least negotiated a contract with them. For UK users, who here would love to be able to pay 99p to put last nights Eastenders episode on their iPod ?. Or what about paying for premium shows like Dr Who or the X-Factor from iTV. The fact that Apple is still to talk to the BBC and ITV and sort out something seems ridiculous to me. Also I'd love to pay for stuff like 24 and Lost and Battlestar Galactica and I'd prefer to not have to mess around buying itunes gift cards from the states. While it's technically feasible it's WAY too much hard work to buy gift cards off ebay or to find someone who will send you itunes US gift vouchers :/. If these shores were available in the UK store chargeable to my own CC's the chances of me getting a video iPod would skyrocket.
Note - the BBC has stuff available online for FREE including shows like Dragons Den !!!!
Films - We HOPE to go international in 2007. There is no cast iron guarentee that the UK itunes store will ever have movies.
So really the question is..
What does Apple have in terms of CONTENT that makes either a Video Ipod or an iTV a wortwhile purchase at this time?
The answer is NOTHING
As much as I love Apple and their products (I have a Macbook and a Nano) I see no compelling reason to buy either of these products at this time.

According to press releases, etc., Apple is coming out with a voice recording headset/microphone. Also, I had suspected that using an iPhone headset would also work, so try that if you can pick one up on eBay or if you already have one.
A year ago, I purchased a MicroMemo by Xtreme Mac and used it with a 3rd gen. I bought a 4th-gen. only for music, but I was kinda hoping my $50 external mic would work with it. It does, actually, despite reports to the contrary. It even allows me to insert chapter markers, which will be great for recording interviews.

I have had good experience with the MicroMemo. It allows me to run a line in or use the external mic. This means I can record from another source such as my computer or my telephone. Recording from my cordless phone required the purchase of a $20 accessory from Radio Shack, but since I interview people regularly, it was worth it to me.

Creating BP in MSA

Dear Colleagues,
When I try to craete the new BP in MSA, R/3 account group combo shows no value and because of that Partner ID is not set by the system after saving.
Combo should display the vaule which I have created in CRM system and for each, number range is assigned.
AM I missing anything here?

Hi Milind,
Check contents of table smot077x on your mobile client. This table is master data table for account group (KTOKD). My guess is, you don't have any data in this table. If that is the case, then check CDB. If CDB has data, then play with subscriptions of your site to get the same data downloaded to your mobile client.
If CDB doesn't have data then you will have to find appropriate download object to download this data from CRM to CDB.
