How is that I don't qualify for the special offer when as Student I Bought the MASTER COLLECTION CS3 for $800
Yet a friend got Photoshop CS5 on special for $250 and qualifies for the special.
I make a lot larger investment in Adobe and now they want me to pay more than someone who just started last year.
It is called hook you as a student and $cre% you went you graduate.
The answer I keep getting is we don't offer a special for student additions
They never answer the question as to why you treat the person who has invest more like a third rate person.
Back when I purchased that package it was at the suggestion of an Adobe rep that was at the school I had planned to buy just the retail version of Photoshop at the time for a lot less.
But if I have learned anything is That once these big companies have you hooked they don't care anymore it is all about sucking you in. Then after that it is raise the rates once you are dependent on them.

Yet a friend got Photoshop CS5 on special for $250 and qualifies for the special.
It is true that the Educational licenses of CS3-CS6 do not qualify for the discounted Cloud special rate (first 12 months only). I don't know why. I don't work for Adobe.
However, only full Creative Suites (CS3-CS6) qualify for that discounted rate, not individual products such as Photoshop CS5.
Are you certain that your friend got that deal? If so, I've no idea how if he/she only had Photoshop CS5.

Outside of the HP Competent Cluster offering can anyone tell me if SAP are developing support for multiple SAP Central services instances in a single MSCS.
With the multiple Netweaver and SAP instances that are now required in modern landscapes,
coupled with the relatively high performance in SAPS of entry level servers, we need a cost
effective way of providing HA that maximises the potential of these servers and consolidates where possible.
It would also be useful to understand what the technical restriction is that prevents this at the moment.

I checked internally with our experts on this question. Here is an edited reply:
Our colleagues are working on a technical solution, which will make it possible to install multiple 640, 700 and 710 SCS/ASCS (kernel releases) instances on a single MSCS cluster:
We are planning to have a separate CD shipment which will support the multiple SAP systems and a separate document. On the CD will be included options:
- Clustreing First MSCS node
- clustering additional MSCS node
- Enque (ERS) instance installation
It can be for used for any 700 or 640 SCS/ASCS instance.
Support will be limited.
The following conditions for SAP support apply to:
->One clustered SAP system in one MSCS cluster with two MSCS nodes or one clustered SAP system in two MSCS clusters.
If you have one of these MSCS configurations and you use SAPinst to install such an MSCS system, you get SAP support with the installation, configuration, and operation.
->Multiple SAP systems with one or more MSCS cluster(s) and two or more MSCS nodes
For such complex MSCS systems you need in-depth knowledge of and experience with the Windows operating system, the Microsoft Cluster Service, the sizing and clustering of an SAP system. Therefore, the <b>installation and configuration</b> of such an MSCS system <b>must</b> be performed by an SAP Global Technology Partner, who supports any installation and configuration problems that arise from this MSCS configuration.
Only then does SAP support the operation of this MSCS system.

Update patches vs re-downloading application

I understand with 'major' new releases, we may need to redownload the application in order to upgrade.But in the past, with its 'minor' updates (small bug fixes etc), Apple has forced us to re-download the application every single time.
This is not a small application. It's 35mb! It hardly seems an efficient way to do things, considering how long this product has been around and what competing products offer. The fact that iTunes and iPods (which are not exactly cheap) are so highly integrated should also be reason enough for Apple to get its act together.

Use of Javacard in a smart grid scenario

Hi,
I am new to Java card. We have a project in which we are using smart cards to verify and sign a users electricity
consumption data. A card reader will be connected to the USB port of a module running Debian Linux on an ARM processor.
The module has to send some data to the smart card and the smart card needs to verify the signature on this data. Furthermore, the card will sign the data and send it back to the module(host).
After plodding along on the internet, I have thought of using Java Card to program the smart card. We have to purchase the smart card reader and the smart card to begin with.
My question to all the experts on this subject is basically three fold:
a) What kind of a smart card reader shall we buy in our particular project. Should we be looking for a few aspects such as CCID compliant, etc, etc.
b) What kind of smart cards should we buy. We need smart cards that can perform cryptographic operations such as verifying signatures and signing data. I am not sure yet as to the degree of freedom one gets when programming a smartcard - I have read that a few smartcards offer restricted programmability while others are less restricted. Could someone please explain what I shall be ooking for while purchasing smart cards keeping in mind the application we are going to be using it for.
c) finally, what libraries would be ideal. Libraries such as OPEN SC and drivers like PC-SC or OPEN CT. i am new to all this and any help in this regard would immensely benefit me.

Its a thought, but its not the best use of Data Guard (in my humble opinion). When I think Data Guard I think:
Recovery Plan
Read-only services
Minimize downtime
You are looking for a quick way to refresh your test environment and I believe RMAN Duplicate might be a better answer. You can have everything setup in advance just like Data Guard.
If you do decide to use Data Guard for this sooner or later you will probably trash your standby setup and have to use RMAN Duplicate to fix it.
However if your database is really huge it might be a great idea to have the standby the way you say with a short delay on apply on the standby end.

Wow is Skype ever rude, by policy and programmed directive.
I use skype for one purpose, I never offer my number to anyone and I never use it for incoming calls but I get 20 invitations a month fromn bogus users, so big deal, I simply ignore them.
No Problem there, just a crappy product.
So with all of the credit hacking, we have taken to canceling and updating our card numbers every 30 to 60 days. Works good until the special kind of idiot who sets policy at skype goes to work.
I open my email on Wednesday morning to find that at 9:17 pm on the prior evening (Tuesday) skype has sent an email note indicating that "There is a problem with your payment". Well, no there is not.. we just changed our card number and you haven't asked for an update.
The note goes further to indicate that the subscription will be cancelled in 2 days (Friday).
All makes good sense to me. We did update our cards and everyone who needs updated info simply sends a auto note requesting updates. Works great.. until that idiot got that job creating policy for skype.
Well the same notice is mailed every 2 hours for a total of 3 mailings. Then at 3:17 am on Wednesday the mailing has changed to read:
Your subscription has been successfully cancelled
We are sorry to hear that you will no longer be using our subscription service. We hope you enjoyed using it.
So in six hour during the middle of the night my subscription goes from 2 days to lapse to a full cancellation.
WTF?? Did these idiots need to go to some special stupid school to get this job?

Does anyone know of a competing product offered by a company who might value a customer a genuine asset?

The usual suspect is permissions. Make sure that you have repaired them.(disk utilitiy in the utilities folder- repair permissions).
Next would be to start with the shift key held down then watch for the same behavior. This is a safe boot and many services will not work but it will repair damage to the startup disk and shut off startup items that can cause problems.
If there is no joy there, try creating a new user with it's password (preferences/accounts/add new user(I just call it test user)). Log in to test user and see if the problem still exists.
If it does help then go to your normal user account/library/preferences and find the file "com.Apple.finde plist" and delete it. Boot to your normal account and see if things are better.
If it does not help then you may have to do an archive and install but let's not go there first.

DrMOS and phases

Anyone wanna chime in on how MSI's DrMOS impelementaion compares? It's said to operate at four times higher frequency and make one phase equivalent to four phases. Is this always true or do more physical phases bring benefits in some situations?
For example the GD55 offers 6 physical phases and GD65 offers 8. Competing products offer 8 or 12 phases. Then why not offer 2 or 3 physical phases if efficiency is four times higher?
The context for me is a modest OC under 4.2 GHz for a low rpm fan. Maintainging the lowest stable Vcore and cool running circuits will be important for me. Not that different from a typical OC scenario in many ways, really.

HKPolice: I also noticed the same thing on my BB XPower set-up. After overclocking; ALL the 16 phase LEDs on the MB are solidly lit. They stay lit the entire time the computer is left on. I do have all the power saving features turned on in the BIOS. So just to try things out, I entered in the default values in the BIOS and saw that all the lights went to either 2 or 3 max. All 16 power phase LEDs light up only when running PRIME95. The LEDs light up to either 8 or 10 when converting/encoding video files. So, this is what I tried.... I went back to overclocking settings in the BIOS and after saving/rebooting, I opened up MSI control center in Windows and went into Green Power >Advanced > and selected "Optimize". After that, the power phase LEDs on the MB returned to normal flashing like one of those sound equalizer displays. I do have to do this each time I reboot the computer. Hope this helps.

DPS and publishing

I have a single page which I am experimenting with before uploading a proper Tablet publication. I have been looking on the net and see very little info on the Android publishing and the process, all seems to Apple. I am looking firstly at an Android App, only one page and have I got to go through the Android/Eclipse SDK method for generating Keys and Maps or is this all taken care of with Indesign CC, any sites to learn from??

No, it won’t.
Here’s the problem with that. The app you submit to Apple will contain nothing. The folio is hosted by Adobe as part of the cost of the pro account.
Once you have no pro account, you have no hosting and anyone who downloads the app will have no access to the folio.
I’m honestly unsure if any of the competing systems offer single edition type apps for iPhone.

Hello Naddy,
with the support package 5 for sap e-recruiting 600 an authorization check for activities has been introduced. you can specify the authorization to create, change and delete activities in a process. the authorization object for this is P_RCF_ACT. You find it in the standard role SAP_RCF_RECRUITER.
There is no display authorization. As a result someone having no rights on an activity will see the existing activity in activity lists but will not be able to create a new activity of the type, go in detail view of the activity to change it or delete the activity from the list.
The user will still be able to access the data overview for the activity. this can only be restricted by revoking the right to see this data overview at all (all activity types). authorization object for this is P_RCF_VIEW and can also be found in the standard role for the recuiter.
If you display the critical information in t6he data overview and cannot restrict its usage completely you will have to swtch the information for the special activity by a constraint e.g. based on a customer own authorization (like mentioned above).

PS: for the original information on activity authorization you can get the help file for SP5 (or SP7 the earlier informatio is included in it). You will find this file in the download section of the service market place under "Installations and Upgrades" -> "SAP Application Components" -> "SAP ERP" -> "SAP ERP 2005" -> Documentation. Just add it to the download basket and then change to the basket. The file can be downloaded directly by clicking the link in the basket without the sap download manager.

Offered the Edge program months ago, as a solution to reduce current bill, and compete with other providers. Offer no longer available till next year, then November, then October 2nd, now given confirmation number that can be looked up but not completed?

Final offer is to just continue to pay $260/mo, and call back on October 2nd, as that is the date I can change my four lines to EDGE and save per month. The initial offer did not include a $25/line discount and required me to Upgrade my phones. I have four Iphone 5S model devices, sharing 10GB of data.
Months ago that offer would just cost more per month and lacked a device to offer me. Later I saw an add that mentioned a $25/line discount for Edge. That would drop my bill $100/month! I asked about the plan again at that time. I was told that I was still eligible,but there was no way to keep my current phones, and work them into the Edge plan. Once the Iphone 6 was announced, I now had a phone that was an upgrade, and I was ready to take the offer. I was told at a store that the offers have no specific terms, and they must be taken when offered. They said I would qualify for another chance in November! I called CS and was told that my next Offer to take the plan would be October 2nd. I went online and at 3:01am EST to pre-order. My phones ship date was October 7th, and I was told that, I then qualified for the Edge, due to the date, but only one line could be activated that way and the rest needed to be done at a store. I was given a confirmation number. Due to glitches that night, I placed this order on my own computer and the customer service agent at the same time, (he was on with me for 3 hours) till one of us was successful. My computer gave me the confirmation number, but the number is a customer service generated confirmation number. Internet services cannot help me confirm the order, because the number is CS. CS cannot help because I did it online. My plan has not changed and going to a verizon store, after staying up all night to preorder, I was told that they have no idea if it went through or not, and to wait and see if my order arrives at home on the 7th. During the store managers "search" he asked for my password,number/username, secret questions, secret site picture (confirmed) last four of my social, kept my family and I in the store 40 min past closing time, answering nothing and leaving me concerned in my sleep deprived state. Calling CS after that, only told me to change my password and again, wait till October 7th, as neither CS or internet dept. are sure of what happened. Neither would actually put a supervisor on the phone, it disconnects while waiting. Has anyone else ever had this happen to them? I don't feel like its safe to go to the local verizon store. CS did not feel as though the managers actions were disciplinary other than to change my password immediately, to prevent unauthorized access. Who are you supposed to trust with your private information? who can you trust to get the truth? The only thing the run around has done is prevent me from pre-ordering from another provider. I was even told that if I did, and Verizon preorders also came on the 7th, that I would have to pay for them too. $35 restocking fee at minimum.

Yes, I am aware of the new phone costs being added back to the plan. My issue is not with the current iteration of the EDGE plan, but with the inconsistent instructions to implement the plan. So far no one can tell me what changes have been made, if any to my current plan. The status of the pre-order? Plus my security concerns have not yet been addressed.
What they will offer, is the EDGE plan, plus specific dates of delivery, for any additional lines that I would like to order above and beyond my current 4 lines. Yet the status of those lines are still in limbo. That was the term they used. Why would I want to purchase additional phones and lines of service when they cannot find my original order. If those phones do arrive in October, they would add 4 more lines of service totaling 8 lines of EDGE. I am not sure why this cannot be fixed beyond, wait and see. I am currently testing out an Iphone 5S with T-mobile. So far I am getting similar signal quality, and they offer Wifi calling that will be enabled with a new iPhone 6, that needs to be taken into account with the comparison. I've read that Verizon will enable the feature mid 2015. Four Iphone Plus models would run me about $225/mo as the most expensive option, still saving me monthly. I know verizon has good service where I live, tmobile is unknown, and after being treated so poorly, I am looking into with the test phone.

Apple restrict flash using products

I am upset right now because i was hoping that Adobe would release a flash player for the iPhone and iPod touch... They actually did but apple is restricting the use of flash so Adobe cant offer it! Anyone knows why??

I share the same feelings with what you are saying of apple blocking flash out of the iPod touch/Iphone. Mike Chambers, Adobe’s Principal Product Manager for developer in a blog post on Tuesday that the company will be ceasing its efforts to bring Flash-based applications to the iPhone. Adobe Creative Suite 5 included an easy way for Flash developers to convert their existing Web-based games and other Flash applications to iPhone apps. That feature was Adobe’s way of sidestepping Apple’s choice not to allow Flash on its mobile platform. Apple doesn't sound terribly broken up about Adobe's announcement that it would stop developing its Flash-to-iPhone, but I'm certainly disappointed.
Apple keeps talking about open sources vs flash being close platform. That is very silly of apple saying that, because let's talk about how apple deals with the app store policies for blocking good apps from their ecosystem. If a developer comes with a good application for apple devices that competes with apple installed application, apple just simply deny the app to show up on the app store. For the simple reason that you are trying to take competition from apple by offering a application with similar features that apple offers. I applaud google for taking the better approach and joining adobe to bring flash to their devices. When I upgrade my phone this year, I'm buying an android phone instead of an Iphone(which apple doesn't offer flash).

Creative Cloud - restricting use of older versions and forcing use of latest versions - NO THANKS!

I am a long-time customer of Adobe Products. I have a unique roll as a Graphics management position, while also functioning as our company's IT administrator. At home, for messing around, sure, creative cloud could be usable, however, in my fairly demanding work environment, we encounter issues like OSX compatibility, occasionally needing to work from a PC, opening files from 2005, and relying on a specific workflows our business has built on foundations like Distiller PDF workflows etc. When you force upgrades to newer versions, you dissuade us from being interested in the Creative Cloud platform. It's really a shame, because small businesses like ours would benefit a lot from a neccesary "subscription" so the newest adobe products are always available, where otherwise, convincing our company owner that a fairly pricey upgrade is neccesary because of a given set of features. If the features aren't something the owner sees as a neccesity, there is really no reason for us to upgrade, so we drag things out. For example, we are still on CS3 right now, and we will be making the jump to CS6 out of neccesity (CS3 will not allow us to edit old pagemaker files that have suddenly become our responsibility without crashing, where the CS6 trial handled it wonderfully).
The creative cloud is a nice thought that would overcome a lot of 'upgrade' obsticles in the long-term for those of us in the small-business venture, but the version restrictions are too harsh. In the accounting world there is a general rule that you can expunge data older than 7 years old, but if you get rid of that data before those 7 years are up you often find yourself in trouble. Software is often the same way when you work with such a wide-array of tools as the adobe creative suite provides. We essentially end up with what equates to a giant database of images, videos, and other files of misc origin and formats that we need a way to manage. If we encounter problems (Much like I did recently where CS3 would not open the pagemaker files) and know we can count on another version of that same software (CS6, in this case) to open those same files, then why would you ever want to take those options away from a customer? We will be paying the same fee regardless of what old versions we use, and while in the scenerio I give, the newer version of the software is the resolution to the problem, there is an equal liklihood of encountering a scenerio where the newer software wont allow me to open a file, but the older version will.
I just don't understand, what's the harm? You don't need to "support" those old versions, but they should ALWAYS be available for download and use on systems that can use them, ESPECIALLY in the style of environment you are offering where the old versions won't appeal to everyone, so it won't waste bandwidth or require a tremendous ammount of storage & serving on your part.
What gives adobe? I want Creative Cloud to succeed as much as you! But I need it to work for me!

A: No, if you have downloaded and installed the CS6 versions of the applications, you will continue to have access to them without interruption as long as your membership remains active. When the CS7 versions become available, you will have up to a year to download and install them and they will run on your machine along with CS6 versions.
So we are planning to give users access to and the ability to use the versions they started with even after new versions come out (you don't have to upgrade) but it wasn't possible to include access to older versions with the launch of this product (that I'm aware of). But I understand the need for some users to have access to older verisons based on your explanation. I'll pass along your feedback.

How can I keep my child from UNBLOCKING contacts or numbers I have blocked? I know in restrictions when you disable account changes at least on ios 6,this greyed out the iMessage button so the kids couldn't deactivate their text feature.

Here's the issue. Kids got themselves into some trouble on iPods. We set all restrictions any turned off iMessage etc, which I noticed they can't turn back on bc it's gray with the don't allow account changes set. BUT, it still allows Wi-Fi to be turned on and off! How can I disable them being able to turn that on wo asking me?? In ios 7, the blocking feature, fabulous, BUT, how can I keep the kids from UNBLOCKING numbers I have blocked? What I am looking to do actually is allow my kids to be able to text family but block everyone else. And ask me to turn on wi fi. How and can this even be done? Right now my d text is turned off completely. And she knows the inside and out of her device so she can turn wi fi on herself. On vacation she entered the wi fi code of our condo and so I did forget network, which didn't work and wi fi kept connecting anyway wo requiring password again! HELP! Thanks :) Also, they have iPods now but am asking these questions based on them getting our 4s's with ios 7.

TeresaBoo, I empathize with your dilemma and have a similar problem. I'm trying desperately to keep my teenage daughter away from a controlling and abusive boyfriend. Of course, she is in denial and thinks it's love. Sure, I can block text messages through our wireless provider, but iMessages run on an independent network. I can block a phone number from iMessaging on her phone, but she can unblock it just as easily. I wish there was some way for parents to create a password to protect settings. Don't let negative comments get you down. Honestly, if someone can't relate to your question or offer help, why are they even bothering to comment??

To restrict appraisers for Business Event appraisal

When i perform a Business Event appraisal, i need to restrict the appraisers to only those who have attended the training.
i.e. Appraisee : Business Event
Appraiser : Participants of the training.
When i click on F4 for appraisers, i need to restrict the entire list to participants who have attended the training. I have created a BADI implementation for HRHAP00_TMPL_RESTR. But this BADI is Add On Dependent . I have given the filter for the implementation as PA . But internally when function module
HRHAP_HEAD_APPRAISEE_GET_LIST is called, it has a parameter add_on_application which is always empty. So BADI implementation is not triggered due to filter value add_on_application.
Please suggest how should i proceed.

How can I restrict ONLY the ability to make purchases on an Apple TV?

I would like to set a password for purchases on my Apple TV in order to prevent my children from accidentally purchasing content. I am able to do this, however, turning on restrictions also forces a password to be entered to open the Netflix app. I do not want to restrict Netflix or any other app that doesn't offer purchases.
I'm finding this to be a very frustrating problem and I also find the lack of some sort of purchase restriction as a default setting very suspect. The device should protect from unwanted purchases from the start, and it should not be so difficult to block unwanted itunes purchases without also blocking out other apps (If that's even possible). I've been using apple products almost exclusively for over 20 years primarily because they are (were) user-focused and user-friendly... I'm very disappointed in this oversight, and frankly it's hard to believe that it isn't intentional.
Apologies if this isn't the place for complaints. If anyone can help me with this problem I would be very appreciative.

I don't know what AppleTV can handle as far as bit rate is concerned, but increase the bit rate as high as it will let you. You are taking DV which is 25Mb/s and compressing it. If you're making an H.264, you should get great results needing no more than 6Mb/s. Bear in mind, the higher the bit rate, the larger the file size.
