Competent Apple 3rd Party Service Providers?

My threads concerning this issue are so old they've been archived. Alittle background.
500mhz Pismo with 20 gb hd purchased new 11/2000.
HD actually caught fire 10/2003. Apple promptly repaired under warranty.
Replaced power supply (flying saucer) in 2006. Replaced batteries and maxed out the RAM in spring of 2007. Running 10.3.9 at the time.
10/2007: Pismo's video and audio vanish although hd continues to run. Video and audio return after reboot but this only works for a brief time. Since then, Pismo has visited 3 regional shops for 12 visits. Everything replaced and upgraded according to the shops; $1000 spent to date. Pismo worked very briefly on a handful of occassions but always failed in the same manner as described above or just plain didn't start up the vast majority of the time.
My question: Is there a secret Apple 'handshake' or 'password' I need to know to get this unit properly repaired? A special 'wink'? Do I need a commendation from an Isis high priestess?
The one competent, honest Apple 3rd party tech left the area years ago and the local company owned Apple Store refuses to work on a unit this old. My nephew is a Dell tech at the nashville, TN facility and has offered to take a look.
Any and all constructive comments appreciated.

eww,
Thanks for the response. The money hasn't been the issue here and you know it as we've gone around about this before. Two of the three shop I've never done business with before; third shop is local and had a dreadful rep years ago. I gave'em another shot as the techs bought the shop from the original owner - nothing changed except they now lack a showroom. I still recall the Police showing up on one occassion to quiten a 'disruptive' customer; one of many unfortunately.
My Apple experience got off to a rocky start until I was given a tip about a first rate Apple tech who worked for an electronic goods retail chain. He repaired both problematic Apple computers the first time and they remained problem free. Unfortunately, the tech returned to Maryland the following year I was told.
*My point is Apple appears to have no oversight function regarding whoever chooses to hang the Apple shingle over their door*. I do appreciate the tip regarding PowerBook Parts. Meanwhile, I'll let my inhouse (family) Dell Tech take a look at it.

Is there a solution that allows you to create requests from email massages sent to 3rd party email providers like gmail, yahoo, etc.?  Similar to the way the Exchange connector works with Exchange.

    Hi Herb,
    Now provided by SCUtils :)
SCUtils Email Connector supports IMAP/POP3 so all mail servers are supported.

can u please suggest me any 3rd party service center in new delhi.

You are not addressing Apple here, we are users just like yourself, therefore unless someone from India is reading this and can recommend one, we would not know of any reputable third party service centres, I would advise you google them.

  • Calling 3rd party service in ABAP

    Hello Experts,
I am looking at a scenario, where I need to develop webservice which may invoke 3rd party services for some address verification purpose.
Do we generally create  RFC expoed as webservice or model service in PI and then implement it in ABAP?
Also, do we need to create consumer proxies for 3rd party service or any other way possible in XI/PI?
I want to know how does the whole scenario typically developed?
    Regards,
    Damandeep

    Hi,
If you have PI in scope, I would recommend including it in the scenario. So basically develop a SOAP to Proxy scenario in PI (or SOAP to RFC, but I would prefer the first one because of monitoring purposes). Try searching SDN to find multiple examples.
    Hope this helps,
    Greg

  • Top Tracks by Artist via Internet info 3rd party services?

    Hi,
is there some plugin or 3rd party app that auto generates playlist with the top tracks of an artist or several artists by using informatiom from 3rd party music services like last.fm or similar services? (there are a few)
My music colletion is huge but not rated much and genious is not really all that genious as I can control nothing

wds is only for g-type routers is irrelevant. there is no standard to allow one persons router, say a wrt54gs or a wrt610n to "extend" an airport extreme. there is nothing in any 802.11 standard that regulates this.
apple calls its implintation of WDS, "joining an existing network"
thanks to things like MIMO and 802.11n, extending a wireless network won't automatically cut your bandwidth in half like with 802.11g
also there are two ways to extend an airport extreme. you can extend wirelessly - this does not allow automatic steering. in order to connect to the strongest access point you need to enable "allow wireless clients" and reconect yoiur wireless card when it is close to that station
if you run ethernet cable to another airport and extend that way, it will allow wireless clients to automatically steer to the strongest station. and each station can be on a different channel.
another point in 802.11n networks that i recently found out, is that different channels have different regulated power levels. the lower the channel is , the lower the mw. channels near the low end like 36 are considered indoor channels, and higher end channels like 145-161 have a higher mw, and are considered outdoor channels.

  • Fault fixing: BT vs third party service providers

I assume that BT has to pay compensation to third party providers if the line is down?
I also assume that this is more than the compensation it has to pay its own customers?
    I make this assumption because:
A tree fell on the line here and disconnected two business lines and an alarm redcare line (all BT)  into the house (22nd December 2013)
Also disconnected an Orange line into the same house (different customer, residential line)
I reported our outage right away. I'm still waiting for reconnection.
Orange customer reported the outage the day before yesterday (she was away from home until then). Yesterday Openreach came and ran a temporary cable across the broken one but just for the Orange customer despite all of the above lines running through the broken cable. It would have been pretty straightforward for them to run temporary cable for all the lines but they didn't. They just did the one and went home.
So third party lines get priority? Over even Business customers?
It really is a shocking service. I realise that they are busy right now but to come and fix on and no do the others while they were here is unforgivable.

BT do not provide or maintain the external network. This is done by Openreach who work for all service providers. BT do not get any special treatment.

can anyone recommend a one? i found smtp2go have not used one before will it work for this for what i need?
    has anyone used smtp2go?

    Hi Mattie,
Appears you are looking for a small scale solution.
Otherwise you can try Exchange Online Protection (Microsoft), Cloud Email Security (Triniton - Websense), MessageLabs - Symantec.

  • Has anyone  used a 3rd party service called MQUBE?

My last Verizon Wireless bill shows a charge of $9.99 for a 3rd pary vendor called MQUBE.  I did not purchase this service and the charge has been removed.  But there are lots of complaints about the company - see http://classactionconnect.com/cell_phone_issues/2007/08/30/m-qube-complaints/
Have you used this service or had problems with it?  If it is as unprincipled as that website suggests, Verizon Wireless should be made aware of it!

        AL_Peggy,
Phew! Glad that charge has been removed for you. And thanks for being proactive to make us aware of the situation. • In-app vs 3rd party service purchases for call center

    Dear Support
I am creating a service that gives an opportunity for a user to have audio / video consultation with a specialist sitting in my real-world call-center. My service has a web interface as well with the same functionality as the mobile app.
To be able to get a consultation user should buy "consultations" from either mobile app or website. Consultations purchased from web should be available in application for the same user and vice versa. So basically mobile application is just an extension of my business.
Could you please advice should I use in-app or external payment gate in mobile app ?

Then an app isn't necessary according to the App Store Review Guidelines
    https://developer.apple.com/appstore/resources/approval/guidelines.html#function ality
2.12 Apps that are not very useful, unique, are simply web sites bundled as Apps, or do not provide any lasting entertainment value may be rejected.
The guideline does say "may" but your reason for having an app seems a bit weak.

  • Password Protection App apple/3rd Party

i just swiched over from a crackberry to an iphone. I was wondering if there is a password protection/wallet app. I had one on the crackberry and its been very helpful.
Are ther any add on apps?
    thanks
    brad

Third party applications cannot be installed onto the iPhone at the present time.
A number of web-based games and applications formatted specifically for use on the iPhone have sprung up, including some "password vault"-type applications. I have serious reservations about putting my passwords on a "secure" website that I know nothing about.

  • Cancel 3rd party service error message

Signed up for 7 day free trial of Mobile TV and have been trying to cancel it before trial period is over. When I try to access Mobile TV under my listed purchases I continue to get Error 500 message telling me I cannot access at this time. I called customer service yesterday and rep couldn't find record of that purchase so he put a purchase block on my number and assured me I wouldn't be charged the monthly fee. This needs to be resolved correctly as I will refuse to pay those charges.

Have you tried removing it online?
If you login to your account, choose your line, choose add or change services. Remove mobile TV and save.
I would certainly call or check your account again to make sure it is not on the billing.

  • Consume 3rd party authentication (providers) in SP13

I have a situation where I should have multiple authentications for my SP13 farm.
    1. Since Claims is dominant in SP13, how can I integrate different (multiple) authentications? I am not clear on how claims works internally :(
    2. How users from different authentication types can be grouped into SharePoint specific groups?
    - GEM

    Hi GEM,
1.Claims-based authentication is more general authentication mechanism that allows users to authenticate on external systems that provide asking system with claims about user. For how claims-based authentication works, you can have a look at the blog:
    http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/UploadFile/Ashush/authentication-methods-in-sharepoint-2013/
For integrating multiple authentication methods in claims based web application, you can refer to the blog:
    http://www.dotnetspark.com/kb/2845-configuring-multiple-authentication-providers.aspx
2.For adding users from diffferent authentication types into SharePoint groups, there is no special steps. Because with claims-based identities, a user obtains a digitally signed security token from a commonly trusted identity provider. The token contains
a set of claims. Each claim represents a specific item of data about a user such as his or her name, group memberships, and role on the network. Claims-based authentication is user authentication that uses claims-based identity technologies and infrastructure.
Applications that support claims-based authentication obtain a security token from a user, rather than credentials, and use the information within the claims to determine access to resources.

  • Service desk integration with 3rd party tool

    Hi all,
I've problems understanding the setup of connecting a 3rd party service desk tool with solman itsm.
So far it's clear that I need to activate and configure the service provider and consumer in soamanager.
The webservice then will be called by the 3rd party tool with corresponding data.
However, according to spro I need to define a value mapping for incoming/outgoing calls.
I do not understand this mapping... the WSDL of webservice ICT_SERVICE_DESK_API contains lots of fields, but in spro -> value mapping I can only define the following fields (which are hard coded in type pool AIICT):
    SAPCategory
    SAPComponent
    SAPDatabase
    SAPFrontend
    SAPIncidentID
    SAPIncidentStatus
    SAPInstNo
    SAPOperatingSystem
    SAPSoftwareComponent
    SAPSoftwareComponentPatch
    SAPSoftwareComponentRelease
    SAPSubject
    SAPSystemClient
    SAPSystemID
    SAPSystemType
    SAPUserStatus
    What about attachments, priority etc.?
Will the interface parameters mapped to these ones?
For what purpose do I need to maintain the value mapping?
Can you give me a hint?

  • ICal server and external invitations via 3rd party mail server

    Hi everyone,
    OS 10.6.5 Server:
    Services running
    AFP
    DNS
    iCal
    Open Directory
    Push Notification
We are currently testing iCal server and have configured it to send out invites via our mail server (which is running on a different server) by creating the com.apple.calendarserver user on our mail server.
Email notifications are then configured under the Enable Email Invitations tab in the iCal service of Server Admin as follows:
    IMAP
    Email address: [email protected]
    Incoming server: mail.mytest.com
    Port: 143 (not using SSL)
    Username: com.apple.calendarserver
    Password: secret
    SMTP: mail.mytest.com
    Port: 25 (not using SSL)
    Server requires authentication
    Username: com.apple.calendarserver
    Password: secret
My test OD users are able to send out invites both internally to other iCal users and externally via email.
So for example, I invite someone to a meeting and enter their gmail address ([email protected]), the invitation goes out correctly - when I log into gmail I see the invitation.
When responding to the invitation (clicking Yes), the mail server receives the response from gmail and the iCal server collects the message via IMAP.
However, the iCal server doesn't seem to parse the received email correctly as I get the following error in the iCal error logs:

I have set a rule on our mail server to bypass any spam filtering for all messages sent to the [email protected] address, but this doesn't seem to make any difference.
Does anyone else have this working ? Any ideas ?

The issue is not "user authorization". The issue is that the 3rd-party service does not accept all incoming relay requests unless there is authentication with a registered account (which we have). This protects the 3rd-party service from becoming the relaying host for the universe's spoofed and anonymous spam. My deduction is that there is no mechanism in UTL_MAIL to designate not only the 3rd-party ip-address:port (by-passing the local sendmail server) but also providing the username:password for the account there for authentication.
Plan A: I have attempted to follow directions for client-side SMTP Authentication for Relaying on the sendmail.org site.
I have not been successful in completing a simple mailx interactive test, much less completing a UTL_MAIL configuration.
I am scouring the user universe for someone who has put all the pieces together successfully and can advise. . . .
