Compilation Albums no longer filed as compilations

When ripping compilation CD's they used to go into the compilations section of iTunes, but they've stopped doing it. Even if I check CD info before ripping and make sure "part of compilation" is checked. I have changed the CD info for Album artist to various artists, but I'm sure I did this before and they still went into compilations. Now they are going in various artists. However, if I locate the iTunes folder in the iTunes media file in finder the 'new' compilations have gone into the compilations folder. Why are they not showing in the compilations in iTunes and how do I get them there?
If I delete the album from iTunes and send the files to the trash, if I re-insert the CD it's still remembered the changes I made before, even if I've emptied trash. How do I make iTunes 'forget' the CD completely?

Thanks, I tried all this but it didn't help. However, I found that if I quit iTunes and restarted it they went into compilations, why didn't I think of this before
I also imported the whole disc as 1 track as it's gapless music but on my iPod it can't play gaplessly. When I ripped each CD in this way (there are 3 CD's in this particualr compilation) and created one album out of these 3 'new' tracks they went into various artists again, and I tried everything I had before but to o avail. However, through trial and error I figured out that to go into a compilation each track artist needs to be different (can't just be various for example). I labelled the track artist as Disc 1, Disc 2, and Disc 3 and low and behold they moved to compilations. What a faff lol

Music albums no longer have the artist name associated with it

I updated to IOS 5 and In transferrig all my music to the ipad1, some of the albums no longer have the artist name associated with it..So when I search by artist name, it only shows they have one album when it should be two..
Also switching between songs, artist, album is very very painfully slow..seems like the music app hangs sometimes.
Tried many times resyncing and deleting but didn't work..Anybody experiencing these problems??

I have the same problem, and after hours of trying to figure out the problem i finally did!! Its going to be a pain in the BUTT, but its the only way. :/
1. Look for the song file.
2. Right click and choose prefences
3. Go to details and edit the information
- "Title" aka songs name
- "Album artist"
- "Album"
-The rest of the stuff can be filled in if you want
4. Click OK
5. Drag it into itunes

Photo Album no long working

Since doing the iPhone 4.01 update, my album no longer displays the thumbnails for the Camera Roll albumn. Is anyone else experiencing this?

New photos in iPhoto 9.5.1 albums no longer sync into synced albums on OS8 devices.

Using iTunes, when I sync my selected iPhoto albums (on the Mac) to my iPhone and iPad, new photos added to those albums on my Mac are no longer added to the albums on those devices, but rather are orphaned as loose photos. Or, if they ARE added, it's only through half a dozen trial-and-error tricks I've tried. I never know for sure what trick is working, so I have to ask if there's an easier, dependable way to get albums or folders from my Mac to sync into what's on my devices. I don't want every single photo I have on my Mac on those devices. JUST selected, categorized photo albums so that I can show off categories of my paintings and sculptures to clients.
If iPhoto is being phased out, what's the easier option for creating albums in my "photos" app on my devices and moving those photos from my Mac to the albums?

Use the rebuild function in iPhoto Library Manager. That does not require a purchase. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Trouble with an album no longer on the store

Hi all. So far, iTunes Match has been working fine for me on my iPhone. However, today I discovered that one of my albums is giving me a little trouble. It's "Cautella" by Richard Devine, and I bought it on iTunes a long times ago. I used the same iTunes account that I have now, and it shows up fine in the cloud. But when I try to download it from the cloud on my iPhone, the progress bar almost completely fills up, and then... it says "Download error. Tap to retry." (Tapping it again just results in the same error.)
But here's the kicker: I just searched on iTunes for the album, and I think it's NOT available for sale anymore. (Yet, it was successfully loaded to my cloud, and is in my Purchased list.) The other weird thing is some of the songs will still play when I tap them on the phone, and some just get skipped over and don't play.
What can I do to resolve this snag? The only thing I can think of is deleting the tracks from my cloud, purchasing the MP3s again from another retailer, and then matching those new files with iTunes Match. Thanks!

Nevermind. I deleted it from the cloud and iTunes, added it back to both, and now I can download it on my iPhone without getting the error message. (Of course, the cover art disappeared the first time, but that's another story.)

Albums no longer show up in itunes and screensaver/background control panel

As of a day or so ago I am not longer able to update my pics in itunes as itunes no longer shows my albums in the ipod section of the preferences. Also I no longer see my albums for screensaver in the screensaver pane of the control panel. It seems these two are interconnected. I have tried removing the prefs and am getting nothing. Maybe export the library and reimport fresh?
Newest versions of all software installed.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Even though you've tried deleting the preference files try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto, iTunes and screensaver preference files. The screensaver files will be in your Library/ByHost folder. There may be at least two files with screensaver in the name.
2 - run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions.
3 - run Cocktail and delete the various use caches and run the cron scripts (in the Pilot section)
4 - launch the applications in the following order: iTunes and then iPhoto
5 - now try to reset the screen saver.

IPhoto albums no longer updating in iTunes

When I have the iPhone plugged into the Mac, and I go to the photos tab, I have selected to have the photos sync from iPhoto. This was working normally for a while but ever since I created an album and then deleted it, the albums under the photo section in iTunes no longer update. The folder I deleted is still there with 0 photos in it, but it is not in iPhoto.
As a result, any new albums I create and any new photos are not syncing to the iPhone. Nothing changes in iTunes anymore.
Things I have tried:
Updating to latest iTunes
Deleting iPod Photo Cache
Rebuilding iPhoto Database
Attaching a different iPhone
Deleting all iTunes application data and preferences
Deleting all iPhoto application data and preferences
Creating a new iPhoto Library and importing the old one, creating a couple of new folders and testing, this leads to iTunes saying there are two default folders with no photos
Deleting iTunes and iPhoto caches
Please help! I've run out of things I can think of that should work!

okay, so i just restarted my computer & the desktop changed.
i usually only sleep the computer & so the desktop doesn't change. even when i did shutdown/restart computer in the past, the desktop did not change. i think somehow this is all connected. it seems if i don't have whatever photo my desktop is saved on the desktop, it will change it back into some generic photo...should i just make an appointment at an apple store? i don't have iPhoto 08 & there have been no updates...

Why is the album no longer available?

John Mayer Trio released on iTunes the single for "Who Did You Think I Was" which included the song "Come When I Call". I know people who have bought this single from iTunes but when I search for it now, I can't find it. Can someone help me find it or explain why it is no longer available?

You intrigued me because I wasn't aware of this "B" side song. If you go to John Mayer's website, it looks like the single "A/B side" release is no longer available. Now, all you can buy is the trio's full-length album--which doesn't include this song. What a shame--it's a good song! I was able to find a sample of "Why don't you come when I call" online and listen to it. I hope it appears on a future album.

I recently updated Iphoto, and album no longer keep imported photos

I recently upgarded my Iphoto to the latest version, and since, I have created a couple new albumn, and imported photos. To my surprise the next time I launched Iphoto, my phtos were no longer visible in the new album I had vreated. All other albums andf photos created with the previous Iphoto version are still available. Can anayone suggest a cure? thanks.

Sorry to hear you are having a similar problem. Last night I went to the tool bar at the top of iphoto, clicked on "File", then clicked "Browse Backups" in the drop down menu.    I have an external hard drive that is set up to Time Machine.   The Browse Backups opened the iphoto pages in the Time Machine. I selected a date one day ahead of the day I performed the now infamous update, and it showed my iphoto library as it had existed that day.   I then clicked "Restore Library" at the bottom right corner of the Time Machine screen.   Roughly 2 hours later my iphoto was back to normal.   When I opened iphoto there was a message saying I need to upgrade my program to be compatible with the new version of iphoto(version 9.2.1). I clicked "Upgrade" and within seconds it had done whatever upgrading it needed to do.
The only glitch in the restoration was that it restored the library as it appeared last week, so I no longer had photos I had imported this past weekend.   I simply went back to the Browse Backups in the drop down menu, when Time Machine opened I selected the page showing my pictures from this weekend and again said to Restore Library.   Roughly 45 minutes later the library was restored including the most recent photos.
I am now a happy camper.
I don't know if any of this will be of help to you because your email says you are having trouble with photos imported after the upgrade was performed.   Have you had any pop up notices when you first open iphoto, that tell you you need an upgrade to be compatible with the new iphoto?     If so have you clicked "upgrade"?

I was trying to download The Wilshires How To Fly album and individually -there's only 5 songs - and I keep getting the message it's no longer available to download - the songs aren't anywhere else to download so why are they still showing up on iTunes? The music on their site is linked to iTunes - so what's the scoop why can't I get the music?

Rearranging photos in an album no longer available in ios7

Used to be able to rearrange the order of photos in an album on the ipad so slideshows and presentation can happen the way I want it to. ios7 got rid of that! BRING IT BACK PLEASE.

It's possible at least on an iPad 3. Open the album, tap on select, hold down the photo you want to move and drag it.

Double-clicking an album no longer begins playback

Prior to this release of iTunes, double-clicking an album cover in album view would initiate playback of the entire album, queuing the all songs in "Up Next." This seems to be broken in 12.1, and clicking the "Play" symbol when the album is expanded to see the entire song list is also broken. When will this be corrected?

System Preferences -> Mouse -> Double-Click
if the time is set to fast or to slow. 3 oder 4 bars from the right is the normal setting.

Why are the songs in my albums no longer numerical?

Can some one please help me figure out how all of my songs in albums went from being display numerically to being all mixed up? I don't have the shuffle option turned on so I'm not sure how they are being shuffled. I have rebooted my device and its still the same issue. If I plug ipad into my laptop and do a sync, the songs go back to their proper order for awhile, but then they are back to being shuffled. Grrr. Any suggestions?

What are your hardware specs?

Is this on a computer or iOS device?
iPods can change the playback speeds, but in iTunes on desktop/laptop, it could be caused by other programs.

*** iOS4 Update: Photo Albums No Longer Alphabetical Order ***

Hey all, I have a 3GS and just did the 4.0 update today. Everything works fine, no errors, etc........but when I go into my Photo Albums...
...and for example; Click "My Vacation". The photo album opens up at the bottom, so I have to scroll upwards to see the photos, where-as before you always started at the top of the album and scrolled down to see all your photos.
Not only that, they are completely out of alphabetical order. I've went into the folder itself on my computer and made sure it was organized.
My friends phone did the same thing on an entirely seperate computer. Any ideas how to get it alphabetical again?

This is a MAJOR problem for me. Several of my photo albums are actually screen shots of Hebrew texts for prayers. Until now, the photos displayed in filename order, so that the screens shots of text were in the proper order. Now they do not!
I use a PC, and I am not going to buy a Mac just to have the power to re-order my photos within an album! That's ridiculous to require that!
This has only been an issue since the ios4 update, and Apple needs to fix it!
