Compilation and instalation problem!!!

I'm trying to install xine libraries into my Solaris 10, when I type "./configure", it seems going well, but once I type "make" and "make install", it come out "make not found." Can anyone tell me how to solve the problems? Please and thank you. By the way, how to set PATH for long term uses regardless we turn off and on the computer. Please teach me, I'm a newbee. Thank you.

Hi
Put /usr/ccs/bin in your path, make sure you did a full install of Solaris.

  • Consistent annoying problem when compiling and installing Apache modules.

    Every time I build and install mod_jk for Apache (Since binaries are no longer available for Apache 1.3.x on Mac OS X, we have to build it ourselves.), everything goes smoothly until the final 'sudo make install,' and then it finishes with:
    Libraries have been installed in:
    /usr/libexec
    Which is nice, but they're supposed to be installed in /usr/libexec/httpd in Mac OS X. (I don't know if this is a problem for Mac OS X Server too, but I'm using regular old Mac OS X 10.4.10, so I'm posting this here.)
    I'm using this when I call configure:
    % ./configure --with-apxs=/usr/sbin/apxs
    and /usr/sbin/apxs says:
    my $CFG_LIBEXECDIR = q(/usr/libexec/httpd);
    but the resulting Makefile says:
    libexecdir=${APACHE_DIR}/libexec
    So it appears to be ignoring the definition from apxs. It also appears that the definition of libexecdir appears to be variable only up until libexec. It looks like you can't tell it to use a subdirectory.
    It's easy enough to just move the installed files into the httpd directory, with sudo mv /usr/libexec/mod_jk.* usr/libexec/httpd, but it's a little annoying to have to remember to do this every time I upgrade mod_jk.
    Has anybody else run into this with this or other modules? Is it a bug that should be reported to either Apple or Apache? Does anybody have a better solution than moving the files?

  • Compiling and Installing Compiled Kernel

    Hi everyone, today i followed the "Kernel Compilation From Source" (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ke … rom_Source) ArchWiki to compile a kernel downloaded from kernel.org. And i use the second method to compile and install with makepkg.
    When the compilation is done, it can't be installed because the name of the file.
    I know i must specify a new name for the new linux image and the System.map to have two or more kernels installed. But "where" in the PKGBUILD i must change the name of the files???
    I'm using the PKGBUILD from the wiki:
    pkgname=kernel26-my
    basekernel=2.6.32.8
    pkgver=2.6.32.8
    pkgrel=1
    pkgdesc="The Linux Kernel and modules"
    arch=('i686' 'x86_64')
    license=('GPL')
    url="http://www.kernel.org"
    depends=('module-init-tools' 'mkinitcpio')
    provides=(kernel26)
    install=kernel26.install
    build() {
    LOCAL_VERSION="$(grep "CONFIG_LOCALVERSION=" $startdir/.config | sed 's/.*"\(.*\)"/\1/')"
    cd ..
    make || return 1
    mkdir -p $startdir/pkg/{lib/modules,boot}
    make INSTALL_MOD_PATH=$startdir/pkg modules_install || return 1
    # There's no separation of firmware depending on kernel version -
    # comment this line if you intend on using the built kernel exclusively,
    # otherwise there'll be file conflicts with the existing kernel
    rm -rf $startdir/pkg/lib/firmware

    And also the kernel26.install
    KERNEL_VERSION="2.6.32.8"

    When installing the kernel there is some problem when the "mkinitcpio" is running: sd_mod error.
    I can install and boot the kernel afterwards but when i get to kdm, the keyboard and the touchpad/mouse doesn't work.
    I double checked the .config file and i have enabled the keyboard and the mouse options.
    What can i do?
    Thanks...

  • Compiling and installing Tux On Ice, need a little help

    I have a desktop system and a netbook that I would like to have hibernating when they aren't being used.  The wiki outlined roughly how to accomplish this with this page:  https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Tuxonice
    I downloaded from the AUR the kernel26-ice 2.6.38-4 to compile and install.  I managed to compile it (I think ... correctly I hope) but every time I try to get it installed with "mkinitcpio -p kernel26-ice.preset" the build fails with these errors:
    [root@blackyunzi ~]# mkinitcpio -p kernel26-ice
    /etc/mkinitcpio.d/kernel26-ice.preset: line 5: /etc/mkinitcpio.d/kernel26-ice.kver: No such file or directory

    ==> WARNING: No kernel version specified. Skipping image `fallback'
    [root@blackyunzi ~]# cd ~heather/aur_builds/kernel26-ice/kernel26-ice/
    I have tried to CD into the build directory just to make sure I was using the correct file but that has not helped.  I've never compiled my own kernel before today and I'm stymied as to what I'm doing wrong.  If it matters, I compiled it as a regular user in the folder where I downloaded it to.  The contents of my build directory:

  • How to compile and install driver?

    Hey there,
    I've got the source for a driver, but how do I compile and install it?
    Thanks.

    You don't have to build an arch package if you don't want but you will get more details here.

  • Compiling and installing the AUR Blacs-mpi package

    I'm trying to install blacs-mpi (dependance for mumps) and have run into the following issue:

    If my understanding is correct, this is a run-time stack overflow verification error and is possibly occurring because blacs-mpi is pointing to some non-existent library. However, I have no idea what library this could be (or if I'm right).
    Can anyone point me in the right direction?

  • Downloading and Installing Problem of IOS 4.2  to IPad Wifi 3G 64 GB

    Hi there,
    I've tried downloading and installing IOS 4.2 trough ITunes to my IPad Wifi 3G 64 GB, but it always failed.
    Could someone tell me how to do it? The error message said that it took too long to download IOS 4.2 (12 Minutes) and the server has denied the action.
    Thanks.

    Hi IIIaass,
    I've done as your suggestion. My IPad and IPod Touch have the IOS 4.2 updates now. I'm very happy. Thank you again.
    I never thought that I would forget the fact that before downloading some software from Internet, I should disable my antivirus, firewall, anti spyware and cos.
    Now, if you don't mind for another question. Do you know why ITunes with Windows 7 has (PC) problem to recognize my whole songs I have in ITunes with Widows Vista (Notebook)? It is around 200 titles, which are missing.

  • Archive and install problems

    Hi:
    After filling out the Apple troubleshooting form, I followed the advice and took my machine to an authorized reseller/service center.  They recommended an archive and install, plus a new and larger HD(WD Caviar 750: he said it would not take a larger one), promised that nothing would change or be lost (the machine is used for 2 purposes only: 60,000 photos and email).  With so many images, I have an extensive keyword list which enables me to find them instantly using Adobe Bridge (CS 2).  Without the keywords, the images might as well be lost. Now, I have the new drive and the old 250G drive.
    The technician called to say he was installing Leopard at no charge, rebuilding my library, defragmenting the hd, resetting my mail from pop to imap and that everything would work as before.
    What doesn't work: mail notifies me constantly that the server has no certificate, that the server can't send the mail and sent mail often just sits.  Mail(I am mobile me subscriber) no longer auto completes even though that preference is checked.  Address book is empty.
    Bridge lost the keyword master structure which is kept in an xml file.  That file was empty.  I dragged the original xml file with all the keywords from an external back up hd into bridge on the new drive but nothing happened.  The words are there but bridge doesn't use the file.  Bridge shows only the default keyword list.  The images, however, retained their exif data and keywords.
    When I open a folder of images, bridge now has to spend minutes rendering the thumbs.
    I realize this is an apple not an adobe forum but perhaps these symptoms reveal the solution. In addition, I don't have any leopard install disc so see that I now have no way to use hardware test or safe boot if necessary.  Even though I have my Tiger discs, the tech. insisted on installing Leopard from whatever disc he has, I guess.  I thought all the discs are registered to this machine and to me so not sure how that is ok.
    Thanks for any suggestion.  I've searched the adobe forums but can find nothing for my version of the software, only for newer versions.
    sorry this is so long.  I will be very grateful to anyone willing to take the time to wade through it.

    Great reply from Limnos, btw.
    I'd be tempted to try a Tiger Install, but you'd have to erase one of the drives.
    One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
    PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
    If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport in 10.4 & below, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
    Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
    Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • Panther Archive and install problems

    I have a light grey screen with an apple logo on it after performing archive and install using Panther. Nothing else. Any ideas anybody....?
    I really am at a complete loss with this and its been several days now. I'm losing money and patience bigtime.
    Help..!

    Yes you can chose your system that way, but since you can't startup normally I feel you still have a problem. Next time it does it try things in Apple doc.#106464.
    I don't have any suggestions on Ext. FireWire HD's (don't get USB). I use a WesternDigital, but others in these forums don't care for that brand. Comp USA has quite a large selection. Online, Amazon does too as do other sites. Make sure you get an Ext HD that is bigger then your internal so you don't run out of space.
    Cheers!
    DALE
    Edit, I forgot you're in the UK,sorry for CompUSA reference.

  • Archive and Install problem (not enough disc space for another install)

    Alright, so I've got the blue screen. I tried getting rid of the APE stuff, and they were all successfully deleted, but it's still the blue screen. So I'm going to do the Archive/Install thing. My problem is that if I try to do an Archive and Install, I won't have enough space to do it. I have around 3.5 GB right now, but that's probably not enough to do another install.
    My only option I think is to go into single-user mode and manually remove my larger files. I have a back-up drive, and I tried removing all the stuff that's on the back-up drive from my computer, but all of them are listed as read-only.
    So is there a way to override permissions in the UNIX thing? Or is there another option for me with?
    Also I don't know if this matters, but I'm installing it from an external DVD drive and I'm doing it from PANTHER and not Tiger.

    ...anyone? I left the blue screen on overnight but it didn't do anything.

    I'm having a similar problem except that instead of dying, I get an error message about an invalid staging area. I'm trying to install 9i on Windows XP. Any help would be appreciated!

  • Downloading and installing problem

    I am trying to download and install Premiere Elements. It's been a huge hassle, but at last I've got to the stage where I get the message:

    http://esd.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/PRE/12/win64/PremiereElements_12_LS26_win64.exe
    I downloaded the first file (I have no idea where the system has put it)
    I downloaded the second (.exe) file and tried to execute it. I got the error message:
    The file archive part of Adobe Premiere Elements 12 is missing. You need all parts in the same folder in order to extract Adobe Premiere Elements 12. Please download all parts.
    What do I do now?

    Hi, Sandeep,
    Thanks for the response. After I posted, I downloaded the two files again, saving both in a defined folder. I then ran the .exe file and it all seemed to work OK.
    I appreciate your help. I also suggest that Adobe reviews the download mechanism - this was too difficult for ordinary users.

    I have good understanding of EJB development process, but the compilation and deployment process of EJB is very problematic for me. Please write me the complete steps which should include:
    1. Starting from class, interface programs creation
    2. Package creation and accessing it along with class path setting
    3. How and where to compile these classes and interfaces (app server details), JAR
    4.deployment details on any app server like SUN, web logic
    Kind regards

    Dear fellowsDear Shahzad faisal
    Start with the JEE5 tutorial:
    http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/tutorial/doc/
    Part 3 discusses EJB stuff
    I would recommend going to a few samples, bundled with most of the appservers to see the appserver specific stuff.

    but the compilation and deployment process of EJB is
    very problematic for me. Please write me the complete
    steps which should include:
    1. Starting from class, interface programs creationSo you have the classes and interface implemented.
    Next thing is to create a ejb-jar.xml in which your EJBs are defined (optional for EJB3.0)
    2. Package creation and accessing it along with class
    path settingPackaging all in a jar file is enough for an appserver to find your classes.
    3. How and where to compile these classes and
    interfaces (app server details), JARCompilation usually needs the javx.ejb.* classes, most appservers have a j2ee.jar in which the javax.* classes you need are present.
    in jour jar file you package your classes and deployment descriptor
    4.deployment details on any app server like SUN, web
    logicDeployment to appservers is product specific, see the manual here.
    you may want to add some other , vedor specific, deployment settings which are not ejb specification defined, these go into a vendor specific DD, for Sun for example the sun-ejb-jar.xml.

  • Compiling and running problems

    Dear Friends:
    I believe I encountered a very difficult situation when I try to run Fortran
    files in Sun Sparc Solaris 8.0.
    I would like to describe it, hopefully someone can give me some suggestions.
    The the files I try to run is fortran 77 files developed originally for VAX
    machine, later on there are Linux and Unix adaptions (but not for Sun
    Solaris). The source code is open source from the link:
    http://www.webmo.net/support/mopac_linux.html. I have compiled and run
    successfully in Redhat 9.0 (means same results as the samples). The linux
    dependency is gcc (or egcs) glibc (or libc) f2c.
    Also it is compatible with SGI IRIX unix system with the dependency MIPSpro Fortran 77 and MIPSpro C as the link http://www.webmo.net/support/mopac_sgi.html. I havenot tried it yet.
    In sun solaris, I have tried g77, but even cannot compiled. With Apogee's
    F77 (www.apogee.com), it can be compiled, but cannot run completely (terminate in the middle
    process, i.e. without the complete output as the samples).
    Could anyone take a time do a analysis and provide me any suggestions?
    thanks a lot,
    Justin

    Justin,
    I downloaded the mopac tarball and compiled it on Sun Solaris using the Sun Studio 10 compiler. The code compiles successfully with only a small change to the included Makefile.
    Change the original unix target as follows:
    unix:
         f77 -w -O -static *.f -o $(EXE)
    becomes
    unix:
         f90 -f77 -w -O *.f -o $(EXE)
    I noticed during the compilation that there were a number of BLAS and LAPACK routines that are being compiled into the application. The Sun Studio compilers include a high performance BLAS/LAPACK library called the Sun Performance Library which provides highly tuned versions of the BLAS/LAPACK routines called by this application. I would be more than happy to help you modify the source and makefile so that you can use these tuned routines and realize increased performance in this application.
    I ran several of the data sets in the examples directory and they appeared to complete successfully. Since none of them run for more than a second or so, it's hard to say whether or not the tuned Performance Library will have a large impact on the performance or not.
