Compilation Setting Option on IPod

I've been using the compilation option on the IPod setting menu for a long time, since this has enabled me to toggle between either a complete view of all artists including those who are part of a compilation, or to a limited view that does not include "compilation" artists. Sometime recently (not sure when), that setting option has disappeared on my IPod. I don't think I did anything to remove that option. Does anyone know how to get that back? Perhaps that feature was removed with a recent IPod software upgrade, but I can't understand why such a useful feature would be eliminated.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you imported these CDs into iTunes as a compilation, the artists won't show in the artists menu on the iPod.
That's how it's meant to work, the idea being it prevents the artist menu being cluttered up with single entry artists on (for example) those "Now that's what I call garbage music" CDs.

Compilations set on my iPod

I just set a lot of albums as compilations to get all the songs together from the album. For example, I set a Gwen Stefani album as a compilation so the 2 songs with an additional guest artist would be seen with the regular songs. Now that album doesn't show up in the album list on my iPod. Is there a way to get it to appear under "Albums". I have a lot of albums like this.

Select your soundtracks, get info, on the Options tab set Skip when shuffling to Yes, click OK.

Compilations Setting Help

Im trying too keep my music folder organized by band or musician and when I import music thru iTunes, sometimes it sticks it in the compilation folder. I know unchecking the compilation setting per song will put it where I want, but can you import music without iTunes automatically checking it and sending it into a Compilations folder?

Sure, just select all the songs on the album BEFORE you import and go to the options tab. Set "part of compilation" to NO.
Then import it.

How do i re-set up my ipod

my itunes doesnt acknowledge my ipod my computer restarted before i could set up my ipod the ipod came up 1 time and i was able to get songs on it but they dont play the 5 rs didnt work i cant restore because its not acknowleged how can i set up my ipod. it also comes up with a corrupted file message and says to run chkdsk utility when i do a screen pops up and dissapears very quickly and doesnt seem to do anything

This is a bit complicated to solve. My iPod had the same problem, and this one the Apple tech support was actually able to solve. It only works if your iPod is recognized at least by Windows though. It doesn't need to be an iPod, it just needs to be recognized as some form of removable media. The first step is to force the iPod into Disk Mode. Restart the iPod by holding the Menu and center buttons. When you see the Apple Screen, immediatly press the Play/Pause and Center buttons. Now connect the iPod and open My Computer. Right click the iPod and click Format. Don't choose any fancy options, just reformat it. When that finishes, Open iTunes (you should have the latest version). If the iPod doesn't appear, go back to My Computer and safely eject the iPod, then unplug it and plug it back in. Go back to itunes (which you left open) and the iPod should appear. Click the iPod in the Devices section of the Source List. Scroll down to the bottom of the iPod page and click Restore. You may need to wait for the latest iPod Software to download, but then wait for the restore process to finish. If any dialogue boxes pop up, just select whatever lets you continue with the Restore Process. That should do it! You now have a working iPod. Simply go through the set up process and sync your songs, pictures, calanders, and contacts to your iPod and you're ready to go!

I downloaded iTunes 11.4 so I could set up an iPod Touch, and now it won't open at all. Can someone please tell me how to fix it?

As mentioned - I was trying to set up an iPod Touch, and it kept telling me "open iTunes," so it dawned on me that I probably needed to update it. So I updated it, and now it just doesn't open (it bounces once, and that's it).

I have a MacBook Pro with Mac OS X version 10.6.8.
Technically I keep all my music on an external hard drive, but I don't think anything is corrupted (because it was working fine just before I updated it).

Try resetting your iTunes password using the secret question/answer method. See:

If it is still under warranty you can call the 800 number to apple and enter the serial number and it will tell you if it is under warranty or not if not its like $30 basically for them to help or something like that it said today when i called...

The compiler doesn't know what PCSTDatabaseConnectionPoolingBean is. Have you properly imported the class?

How does one set options such that the entry for a successfully downloaded file automatically got removed from the download window?

In earlier versions of Firefox, I could set options such that when a download completed successfully, the download entry was automatically removed from the download windows. I don't seem to be able to get this functionality in ver 13.0.1. In this version, i have to right click on each completed download entry, and choose "remove from List". This is very cumbersome.
I really liked the earlier auto cleanup as it left only pending, current and failed downloads in the Download window - just the stuff I needed to pay attention to. Is there any way to set up ver 13.0.1 to make things work the way they worked so well earlier.
A related issue may be that in the Privacy tab, the option for Browsing and Download history have been combined (were they separate earlier? - don't remember). I want to keep my browsing history but not my download history. I can still clear them individualy in the "Clear Recent History" settings, so why can't I set the control for keeping either individually? Or can I?

The download history is part of the regular browsing history, so you would have to disable the history altogether as you've already noticed.

Help setting up an ipod for a gift

i'm purchasing either a nano or an ipod for a friend for christmas and sending it to her in another state. i'd like to set up an itunes account for her with her info originating on my pc, set up the ipod on my pc, add files to the ipod's library and then send it. is this possible? any help would be much appreciated.

Go ahead and put the movies on the iPad. However, when the person receiving the gift sets up the iPad in their name, the movies will be erased. So, you could put the movies on a USB flash drive and they could reinstall using the camera connection kit.
How to use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).

Can't leave "Set Up Your iPod"

This is over week 3 with these issues. First it was "corrupt and unreadable" now I finally got though to the restore button and have restored it about 5 times. I have also changed the drive name to try to fix this.
Any change I make, adding tracks, it prompts me to restore again. I restore, then it goes to "Set Up Your iPod" and I can't get past this screen, can't sync, nothing. I can keep music tracks and browse with EphPod but there are a few drawbacks to only using this program, one of them being I have no video access.
My last questions have had no response HELP ME I AM GOING CRAZY.
