Compiler and packaging
sorry but this seems a strange question,
first i created 2 compilation units one in the unnamed package and the other in a package called package1 as in the code below:
//compilation1.java
public class compilation1
public static void main(String args[])
compilation2 c = new compilation2();
//compilation2.java
package package1;
public class compilation2
public compilation2()
System.out.println("Hi 2!!!!");
i placed the 2 files together in the <<<same folder>>> and created a subdirectory called package1. the problem is that when i compile the compilation2.java source using the -d flag every thing will go fine but when i try to compile compilation1.java so both can be compiled at the same time, a strange error appears:
D:\delete>javac -verbose -d d:\delete compilation1.java

compilation1.java:1: package package1 does not exist

2 errors
****Note: the first error concerning the package is due to that the package is empty and there is no problem in that but it is the second error, i think it is due to that the compiler first look to compilation2 in the unnamed package and it finds it but the code specify that the code must be in a package but my problem is that i don't know what is the relation between the constructor and that packages mismatch.
thanx very much for ur time,
John Vcitor.
The files need to be in a directory which reflects the package.
I would suggest using an IDE like NetBeans or Eclipse (both free) which handle these issues, including build, run , debug for you.

How to compile and package my EJB application
Hi,
I just ran the sample programs from the Sun J2EE tutorial. Seems to work fine. I used the ant utility to compile all the programs and the J2EE Deployment Wizard to package and deploy everything. Now how do I compile and deploy a sample EJB program that I have written ?
I am using the following platforms:
1: JBuilder 3.0 : IDE (for writing the source code)
2: JDK 1.4.0_01
3: J2SDK EE 1.3.1 (EJB/Appln server)
How do I make ant recognize my program and compile it... i guess the deployment procedure would still be the same.
Can somebody please help me out on this ??
Thanks
prasannaHi,
Thanks for your prompt reply. I tried that out.. I have a directory called "customer" under which I have my interfaces,bean implementation class and the J2EE application client.
ANT_HOME is set to : the directory where ant is installed
JAVA_HOME is set to : the directory where JDK is installed
J2EE_HOME is set to : the directory where J2EE server is installed
and PATH : includes the bin directories of JDK, ant and J2SDK EE
These are the paths I had to set when I ran the J2EE tutorial programs. It worked fine.
Now when I say : ant myprogram I get an error saying:
BUILD FAILED
Target "myprogram" does not exist in this project
How do I add my program also to the project so that ant can recognize it ?
Also if there is any other way you can suggest to compile and package my application it would be great...
Thanks

Error message when compiling invalid packages and procedures
Hi.
I have a routine for copying certain data from a production database to a test database. To do this I disable constraints and triggers, truncate tables, copy tables and enable triggers and constraints again.
Now several of my functions, procedures and packages are made invalid and marked with a red cross. In SQL Developer I can compile invalid functions, procedures and packages. When I compile functions it works fine, but when compiling procedures and packages I get the following error message:
An error was encountered performing the requested operation:
ORA-00904: "ATTRIBUTE": Invalid identifier
Vendor code 904
When I click OK on this message I get a confirmation saying:
Packages have been compiled with #0.CNT# errors.
I had this error in both the previous and the new version. Is this a bug or is there a way to come around it? When I copy and modify the SQL generated to perform this task and run it in SQL Plus it works fine.
I use Windows 2000 5.00.2195 Service Pack 4, SQL Developer version 1.2.1, Oracle 9.2.0.8.0 and Java version 1.5.0_11
Message was edited by:
SvSigi have now upgraded to Java 1.6 update 2. I still get basically the same error, but it is presented a little bit differently:
An error was encountered performing the requested operation:
ORA-00904: "ATTRIBUTE": invalid identifier
00904. 00000 - "%s: invalid identifier"
*Cause:
*Action:
Vendor code 904
Are there other possible error causes than the operating system version and the database version?
We are going to install an Oracle 10 test database in a couple of weeks, so then I will find out whether the database version is the problem. -
How can I compile all functions, procedures and packages with a script?
I need to compile all functions, procedures and packages of 5 schemas (users) with a script.
How can I do it?
Thanks!you can create a script to select all invalid objects in those schemas Since Oracle 8 introduced NDS this approach has struck me as a trifle old fashioned. It's much simpler to loop round the query in PL/SQL and use EXECUTE IMMEDIATE to fire off the DDL statements. No scripts, no muss, no fuss.
Having said that, the problem with this approach and also with using DBMS_UTILITY.COMPILE_SCHEMA is that they do not compile all the invalid objects in dependency order. This may result in programs being invalidated by the subsequent compilation of dependencies. This is due to the introduction of Java into the database.
The UTLRP script is much better, because it (usually) avoids cyclic references. But you still may need to run it more than once.
In general it is better to avoid sledgehammer recompilations (like DBMS_UTILITY.COMPILE_SCHEMA, which starts by invalidating all the objects). If we have twenty invalid objects, nineteen of which are dependencies of the twentieth, we actually only need to recompile the master object, as recompiling it will trigger the recompilation of all the others.

How to compile and run package programs in Java
Hi,
I want to know how to compile and run the package programs in Java using -d. instead of creating the package folder manually.
eg:
package Test;
class test1
public void disp()
//Any code;
I want to compile this without creating the folder ' Test ' manually. that is if we use -d with javac the Test folder will be created automatically. I need the format of -d
could anyone please help me.
Thanks in Advance ,
AmbikaMy program Test.java in F:\Tomcat5\webapps\Ambika\WEB-INF\Classes. I compiled in the format below. I got like this. What should I do for this? But yesterday I compiled like this only, It compiled and the folder com\cert\Test.class is created. Today again I compiled the pgm after deleting the already created folder 'com\cert', I got the error like this.
I've given my pgm and the thing I've got when I compiled it.
Test.java
package com.cert;
public class Test

Compiling and running a package
Hi
Iduring making a project i am facing a problem. I have two files under the directory c:\jdk1.3\ghosh\das, named as ghosh.java and das.java
they are like the folloing:
ghosh.java
package.java.das;
import java.io.*;
import.java.util.*;
public class ghosh
public static void main(String args[])
das dipak = new das();
dipak.prn();
das.java
package ghosh.das;
import java.io.*;
import java.util.*;
public class das
das();
public void prn()
System.out.println("Package");
If you please tell me the way to compile and & run this package, I will be highly thankful to you.
thanx in andvance.
sudiptaThe statement "package.java.das;" won't compile. Do you mean "package java.das;" or do you mean "package ghosh.das;"? The -d option might not give you the result you want. If you mean, ""package java.das;" and you compile with "-d c:\jdk1.3" then the compiler will create a directory named java in the jdk1.3 directory and create a .class file inside the java directory.
Depending on the package statement, you execute the ghosh class with "java java.das.ghosh" or "java ghosh.das.ghosh" -

Suppose in a Package Spec there are 3 functions and Package Body there are 5 functions will the package compile?
Rather than asking these basic one-liner questions (When a package is created how many database objects are created?) why don't you explain what issues you are experiencing after you've read the documentation and tried things yourself.
The forums are for people to help when they experience issues, not when they can't be bothered to read the documentation or searcht the web for the basic information that's already explained.
Re: 2. How do I ask a question on the forums?

Compiling and installing the AUR Blacs-mpi package
I'm trying to install blacs-mpi (dependance for mumps) and have run into the following issue:
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/src/blacs-mpi/src/BLACS/TESTING'
libblacs.a(BI_BlacsErr.o): In function `BI_BlacsErr':
BI_BlacsErr.c:(.text+0x138): undefined reference to `__stack_chk_fail_local'
libblacs.a(BI_BlacsWarn.o): In function `BI_BlacsWarn':
BI_BlacsWarn.c:(.text+0x128): undefined reference to `__stack_chk_fail_local'
==> ERROR: A failure occurred in build().
Aborting...
If my understanding is correct, this is a run-time stack overflow verification error and is possibly occurring because blacs-mpi is pointing to some non-existent library. However, I have no idea what library this could be (or if I'm right).
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

I downloaded from the AUR the kernel26-ice 2.6.38-4 to compile and install.
Hm... netbook.
If you don't mind trying bfs and bfq too, then you could give the pf-kernel that is mentioned in the wiki too a try:
http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=50956
It has a repository here:
[pfkernel]
Server = http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11734958/$arch
and a thread: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=103462
I'm not quite sure how netbook performance is affected by BFS...
It has the bonus to already be based on 3.0.

Error While compiling a Package
Hi,
When am compiling a package am getting a error like
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-01631: max # extents (505) reached in table SYS.IDL_UB2$
Can you pls any one help in this reg...
Thanks,
Adhi...if you look into sql.bsq in your oracle_home/rdbms
directory, table IDL_UB2$ has storage parameter
extents defined as maxextents.
check out the parameter of your IDL_UB2$ table.
By the way what is your oracle version?
For a long time, modifying the sql.bsq file was
frowned upon, but there is a section in the Tuning
guide about modifying this file now.
Reference chapter 15.

The Human FlyBut why do you need to modify the sql.bsq file when this problem can be analyzed by checking the availability of free space in SYSTEM tablespace.
And what benefit will you get by modifying this file after the database has been already created?
This file is the seed of the database and I think careful consideration must be taken before even thinking of touching this file. Also you must be fully aware of the aftermath. -

Thanks in Advance.My program Test.java in F:\Tomcat5\webapps\Ambika\WEB-INF\Classes.

How can I compile and run other java classes from within an application?
Hello there everyone! I really hope that someone can help me. I am writing a program that must be able to compile and run other java classes that are in different files, much like development environments like Kawa or Forte allow you to do.
There has to be a way of doing this ( I hope!! ), but i can't seem to find it!!
I have tried using this command to compile:
Runtime.getRuntime().exec ("c:\\programs\\javac className.java");
...and this one to run:
Runtime.getRuntime().exec ("c:\\programs\\java className");
...but neither works!!! I can compile and run classes that are in the same file as my application, but I can't get it to work at all for files in different directories or files.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE help me - i've run out of ideas, and i need this to be working in 3 days!!!
Thank you very much for any help anyone can give me, I really appreciate it!! Thanks again!!
Adrian ( ...in distress!! )public class JavaCompiler{
public static void main(String[] args)throws Exception{ //sorry bout the laziness
if(args == null || args.length != 1){
System.out.println("Usage: java JavaCompiler MyClass.java");
System.exit(0);
String className = args[0];
Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
Process p = rt.exec("javac " + className); //consider setting cpath for this
p.waitFor();
//now try to run after it is done.
p = rt.exec("java " + className.substring(0, (className.length() - ".java".length()));
p.waitFor();
//do some other stuff
}This should get you going. You may consider looking into the System.getProperty() method in order to determine the type of OS it is running on in order to findo out what command to run. I know that the sun tool listed above is nice, but by my understanding the sun tools provided are not guaranteed to stay the same. I'm no expert on this matter, but that is one of the reasons there is no API documentation for those tools. Also, I don't believe those tools come packaged with the JRE. (Of course if you are making an IDE it will be expected that the user has an sdk installed. Good luck with figuring this thing out. -

437022Hi,
In side the Package Body,
a) invalid arguments for IS_HIERARCHY_ENABLED_INTERNAL
b) invalid components GENERATE_TRGNM, etc.
First, you need to correct the above errors and then
try to compile the Package Body

Sailaja

Hi, I have a very basic question? If one were to store an object in a Hashtable and then make that Hashtable nullable will it also implicitly make the object within it nullable? Or do we have to explicitly make the object nullable first and then make
