Compiler error on code

public static void main(String[] args) // Main method
      GUIA testRun = new GUIA();   // Create object
      testRun.setVisible(true);       // Make window visible
   }I'm getting the compiler error 'Cannot find symbol method setVisible(boolean)
Does anyone have any ideas?

does GUIA class has setVisible(boolean b) method?
or
Does it extend the JFrame, JDialog etc?
class GUIA extends JFrame {
//TODO
class Test  {
public static void main(String[] args) // Main method
      GUIA testRun = new GUIA();   // Create object
      testRun.setVisible(true);       // Now it will work if it extends JFrame or other  s

  • Compilation error for code in Solaris 8 which was compiled in SUNOS 4.1.3

    Hi,
    I compiled the C source files in Solaris 8 which was earlier compiled in SUNOS 4.1.3(Solaris 1.1).
    On compiling I get following discrepencies: 1. Executable size are considerably different.
    2. I am using some X windoes system library, it gives compilation error like "prototype mismatch 2 arguments passed when 3 required". "improper member use: fd " fd is the member od display structure.
    3. "identifier redeclared: shmat current : function() returning pointer to char
    previous: function(int, pointer to const void, int) returning pointer to void : "/usr/include/sys/shm.h""
    4. Also I am getting "cg error :..: Disk quota exceeded " while compiling one of the modules.
    Please let me know solution of all/any of these.
    Thanks in advance!!

    Sounds like ancient code that no longer matches current API's.
    Theres not much option except to rewrite those bits.

  • Compile Error in code: Incorrect function specified for inlining

    I used two custom function in vertex kernel code. pb3dutil command line compile ok but when compiled in as3 code, it throws this error. what's the possible reason for this?

    That sounds like a bug in our code - if pb3dutil lets it through it should weld and translate just fine later. Can you post the example that's failing so we can look into it?
    Thanks

  • Abstract class hierarchy - compilation error

    I coded an abstract class and couple of concrete classes. When I am compiling the concrete classes, I see the error message: cannot find symbol abstract class. For diagnosing I coded very simple programs AbstractClass1.java and ConcreteClass.java. Again I am facing the same compilation error. Code is given below:
    abstract class AbstractClass1 {
    protected AbstractClass1() {
    System.out.println("AbstractClass1 constructor called");
    public abstract void distinct_method();
    public void common_method() {
    System.out.println("common method called");
    distinct_method();
    class ConcreteClass extends AbstractClass1 {
    public void distinct_method() {
    System.out.println("distinct_method called");
    I can't figure out what's causing the compilation error.
    Edited by: ague on Nov 9, 2008 5:52 PM

    Yes. AbstractClass1 is defined in AbstractClass1.java. I know it is compiling fine for others. I am unable to figure out the problem at my end because the problem was first encountered with a different (and bigger) program. I then started using new simpler classes to zero in on the problem area. I copied the code from java forum so I know it can't be a problem with code. You and one more person confirmed it. In my first post I was focusing on abstract class because the problem started when I began coding a hierarchy with an abstract class at the top. Other programs are working fine. Thanks anyway.

  • Getting an strange error in "PluginPrefix.pch" while compiling a plugin code with InDesign CS4 SDK.

    Hi everybody,
    Currently trying to compile/build the existing Plugin code (C++) with InDesign CS4 SDK on my Mac OS X 10.5 machine but getting following strange errors.
      /Volumes/MAC Extended/Inbetween Extended/Visual Studio/Adobe InDesign CS4 SDK/source/precomp/gcc/PluginPrefix.pch:26:27: error: MemoryStatics.h: No such file or directory
      /Volumes/MAC Extended/Inbetween Extended/Visual Studio/Adobe InDesign CS4 SDK/source/precomp/gcc/PluginPrefix.pch:39:30: error: PluginBuildFlags.h: No such file or directory
      /Volumes/MAC Extended/Inbetween Extended/Visual Studio/Adobe InDesign CS4 SDK/source/precomp/gcc/PluginPrefix.pch:40:28: error: AnsiBasedTypes.h: No such file or directory
      /Volumes/MAC Extended/Inbetween Extended/Visual Studio/Adobe InDesign CS4 SDK/source/precomp/gcc/PluginPrefix.pch:41:26: error: ShukHeaders.cp: No such file or directory
    Though above mentioned files are present at the following directory
    /Volumes/../../../Adobe InDesign CS4 SDK/source/precomp/common/
    Note : However initially I did not find “MemoryStatics.h” and “AnsiBasedTypes.h” files in the installed SDK directory. I have downloaded them from the net and copied those into the above mentioned directory.
    I am not much familiar with Mac OS environment and compiling/building C++ code with Xcode. Can anyone help me to resolve this issue (might be very trivial and related to Xcode project configuration) ?

    Thanks for the quick response,
    Yes, current build settings include path shortcuts as mentioned below and it also contains “$(CS_SDK_PATH)/source/public/includes” path in HEADER_SEARCH_PATHS settings.  But still I am getting the same error: MemoryStatics.h: No such file or directory
    CS_SDK_PATH= /Volumes/MAC Extended/Inbetween Extended/Visual Studio/Adobe InDesign CS4 SDK
    CS_SDK_PRJ_PATH=/Volumes/MAC Extended/Inbetween Extended/Visual Studio/InBetweenDev/Projects/InBetweenCS/IBClientPluginCS3/prjCS4/mac
    Just for clarification : my Plugin code /project files are not inside the InDesign SDK (build/mac/prj). All the plugin project is outside of the InDesign SDK directory. Thus above mentioned CS_SDK_PATH and CS_SDK_PRJ_PATH are completely different.
    Is it expected that the plugin code/project files should be inside the InDesign SDK/build/mac/prj  directory only ? or is it okay if we put it in the completely another directory structure and modify the  SDK_PRJ_PATH accordingly (as in my case) ?
    Please let me know if you want me to elaborate the situation further.

  • FPGA code successfully compiled in 2010 is giving compilation error in 2014.

    I have developed RS485 FPGA code and successfully compiled with LabVIEW FPGA 2010.
    Later changed the software to 2014 and installed Xilinx 14.7.
    Now if I compile the same code with LabVIEW 2014 compile worker, i am getting error 'Process "Synthesis" failed'.
    I am using a case structure with Error cluster as selector, So the case structure has 'No error' and 'Error' cases.
    If I change the selector to 'True/False' then the compilation works.
    Below is the error that i am getting when using Case structure with Error cluster as selector
     LabVIEW FPGA: The compilation failed due to a Xilinx error. Details: ERROR:HDLParsers:1401 - "C:/NIFPGA/jobs/JyWfWcc_Gv3a9ah/NiFpgaAG_00000041_CaseStructureFrame_0001.vhd" Line 41. Attached FPGA_error_2014.jpg which depicts the working and 'not working' code in 2014.
    In 'Not working' code,the selector terminal is error cluster.
    I am able to resolve the issue just by changing the selecter terminal to boolean as in 'working code'.
     But both sets of software code works fine in version 2010.

    Frank,
    Thanks for your response. I removed <String> after LIST and it compiles. But the problem
    is with the following iterator code which is giving error while compiling in jdk1.4.2_15. Trying to find out the equivalent iterator code of the following which is in jdk1.5
    Row row:hits.getAllRowsInRange()

    Hi,
    I am getting below wrror while accesing the Ecel:
    compile error in hidden module: Essbaselogon. This error commonly occurs when code is incompatible with the version, Platform, or architecture of this application

    IIRC essbase is a financial reporting add-in (Hyperion, or something similar?).
    This message is telling you that the add-in is not compatible with your current software. You should check with the vendor who provided the essbase add-in. Tell them what version of windows and Excel (and maybe Hyperion) you are using, and get a compatible
    version from them...
    If you do not need or run essbase/hyperion/etc then you should just remove/disable the add-in. If it doesn't show in your add-in menu, then you may have to do a repair installation or re-install Excel

    Hope this helps.

  • Compiler Error in achacks.as assmebly code

    Simply declaring a variable to a specific compiled c-library class yeilds the following error:
    [Compiler] Error #1084: Syntax error: expecting identifier before modulus.
       1852.achacks.as, Ln 33031, Col 16:
            xor     %esi, %esi
    The swc produced is unusable.
    Does anyone know anything more about this error?
    Thanks,
    Bo

    Your library uses x86 assembly.  Probably the assembly is only included when you declare that variable because it is indirectly referenced by the constructor of the class you are trying to declare.  When you don't reference the class, the code for it is not linked.
    Alchemy, despite telling code that it is i386, cannot link or run x86 assembly.  You should find the assembly in your library and somehow remove or disable it.  XIXs came up with a nice set of CFLAGS to identify all assembly in unfamiliar code.

    I write and compile all the code for EJB.
    Created .EAR and .WAR files needed for deploy. But when the deploy application tries to generated and compile stub code there is a compilation problem.
    Anyone knows how can I solve this? or this is a problem of the deploy app, Is there another one?
    I'm using J2EE SDK 1.3 beta version.
    THANKS...

    It's not an Exception. Are compile errors of the generated code.
    When you make "Deploy..." from "Tools" menu item of the "Application Deployment Tool", it make some task including source generation and its compilation, so, this compilation have errors.

    The error message is correct.
    You are using double quotes instead of single quotes.
    Identifiers (table names, column names etc) with special characters should be enclosed by double quotes, so PL/SQL thinks you are using an identifier and can't find it.
    Please replace the double quotes by single quotes.
    Please also make sure you always try to iron out simple compilation errors yourself, so you become independent, and don't need to ask for the assistance of volunteers.

    Hi,
    If I understand correctly, all you want to do is to convert a single to a
    binary string.
    The attached VI does this. It can be turned into a subvi very easily.
    Regards,
    Wiebe.
