Compiling Berkeley DB with MinGW
Has anyone compiled Berkeley DB using MinGW, and if so, would you mind sharing the steps necessary to do this?
Perhaps I need to download a different source for Berkeley....when executing the prescribed commands I get an error message:
RAI@RAPHAEL-01 /c/Oracle/db-4.7.25.NC
$ ./configure --enable-mingw
sh: ./configure: No such file or directory
I downloaded the file "db-4.7.25.NC.zip". It does not contain a configure executable.
Note that I'm using MSYS for the unix-like shell. When compiling other programs the configure program was provided with the source.
I tried copying one of these configure programs and using it, but it does not recognize the --enable-mingw flag.
Sorry if I'm not much help here.

Compiling with MinGW JVMPI calls
I want to build a dll of a simple C program that is registerd as profiling agent and supplies the CPU-time.
I want to build it with the MinGW framework.
First I patched the jni_md.h as found in this forum,
then I tried to compile and link with
gcc -g -O2 -c -Id:/jdk1.4.1/include -Id:/jdk1.4.1/include/win32
-g -Id:/java/chess/c/include cputime.cpp
dllwrap --add-stdcall-alias -o cputime.dll -s cputime.o
While compiling succeded, the linking failed with
cputime.o(.eh_frame+0x11): In function `JVM_OnLoad':
d:/jdk1.4.1/include/jni.h:1913: undefined reference to `___gxx_personality_v0'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
What am I doing wrong?Now I know a little bit more.
(Thanks to a kind person on the MinGW Forum).
I need to add the libstdc++ library.
Does anyone know the flags I have to use in the dllwrap command? -
Debugging mingw cross-compiled JNI code with drmingw
Hi there... I've been googling up a storm but so far no luck so I thought I'd throw the question out and hope for some answers. I have a chunk of native code in linux and now cross-compiled to win32 using mingw. When there is an exception in the native code, the VM exits. I'm getting java dumping its stack traces (eg. hs_err_pidXXXXX.log files), but those only have hex addresses for the native DLL because the mingw symbols aren't understood.
Example:
C [lhext.dll+0x47dcc]
C [lhext.dll+0x37408]
j some.jni.method.call.i.cant.easily.cut.and.paste
I tried to load the drmingw exchndl.dll in my native code, which I thought should dump stack traces to a file when the exception occurs, but it seems like java is controlling the exception handling and bypassing the exchndl.dll library, so the net result is no useful stack trace output.
Does anyone have a good method to do this (aside from attaching gdb in windows, which is inconvenient if this happens in the field)? Or a method to extract a call stack using the hex dll addresses from a mingw cross-compiled dll?Hi there... I am also trying to compile Berkeley DB 4.8.24 with MinGW gcc version 4.4.0, and I received the same error. Fortunately, though, I was able to proceed after changing line 113 of `db.h` in the `build_unix` folder from:
typedef pthread_t db_threadid_t;
to:
typedef u_int32_t db_threadid_t; -
Hi !
When I try to compile in JDev with javac and the java 1.3.1 library, I get the following error :
Error: javac: invalid flag: -source
The command line generated by JDev looks like :
C:\jdk1.3.1_03\bin\javac.exe -J-mx512m -verbose -deprecation -source 1.3 -target 1.3 -encoding Cp1252 -g -classpath [...] -sourcepath [...] -d [...] @C:\DOCUME~1\user\LOCALS~1\Temp\javac54193.tmp
It seems that -source and -target flags do not exist in this version of javac.
But it does not seem possible to remove these flags generated by JDev, so I'm unable to compile with javac 1.3.1 and JDev.
So i'm looking for :
- A workaround to prevent JDev from adding the -source and -target flags.
- A future release of JDev where you could disable these flags, or, much better, where JDev automatically disables these flags when it detects a 1.3.1 library (there may be other incompatible flags I did not mention).
Thank you for your answers :)Hi,
when you open the project properties and choose the compiler option to tht the compiler to "javac" and then the "source" and "target" to 1.3, wouldn't this compile it for Java 3? I don't think that it is necesary to use JDK 1.3 for compiling the sources
Cross-Compilation Options
By default, classes are compiled against the bootstrap and extension classes of the platform that javac shipped with. But javac also supports cross-compiling, where classes are compiled against a bootstrap and extension classes of a different Java platform implementation. It is important to use -bootclasspath and -extdirs when cross-compiling; see Cross-Compilation Example below.
-target version
Generate class files that will work on VMs with the specified version. The default is to generate class files to be compatible with the 1.2 VM in the Java 2 SDK. The versions supported by javac in the Java 2 SDK are:
1.1
Ensure that generated class files will be compatible with 1.1 and VMs in the Java 2 SDK.
1.2
Generate class files that will run on VMs in the Java 2 SDK, v 1.2 and later, but will not run on 1.1 VMs. This is the default.
1.3
Generate class files that will run on VMs in the Java 2 SDK, v 1.3 and later, but will not run on 1.1 or 1.2 VMs.
1.4
Generate class files that are compatible only with 1.4 VMs.

JDev 1013 Error: Internal compilation error, terminated with a fatal except
I've a class I compiled used in JDev 10.1.2.1.
Now I try to compile it with JDev 10.1.3 but I get an error :
Error: Internal compilation error, terminated with a fatal exception
What does it means ?
How can I solve it ?
I tried to use both 5.0 and 1.4.2 compilers but the result is the same.

How to compile DNG SDK with GCC?
I tried to compile DNG SDK with GCC, but I got stuck to the following error message:
... dng_flags.h:33:28: error: RawEnvironment.h: No such file or directory ...
In other words, it seems that file 'RawEnvironment.h' is missing. I cannot find this file from DNG SDK or XMP SDK. Do you know where I could find this file or do you know how to compile DNG SDK with GCC?
Regards SamiPlease define either qMacOS or qWinOS (i.e., in your list of preprocessor defines). As you can see in line 32 of dng_flags.h this is required.

How can I use the latest Berkeley DB with SQL API in PHP app?
Hi,
I'm a PHP developer and I already use Berkeley DB in my applications using the [DBA Functions|http://www.php.net/manual/en/ref.dba.php] . I'm very interested in the latest Berkeley DB release. How can I write a PHP program that uses the SQL API of the latest Berkeley DB release?Hi Kurt,
I'm not a PHP expert (far from it), but the simplest way to get started with the Berkeley DB SQL interface is to run Berkeley DB's <tt>configure</tt> script with the <tt>--enable-sql_compat</tt> flag. This will create a library called <tt>libsqlite3.so</tt> that you can use as a drop-in replacement for SQLite at the API level. Database files still need to be converted with a SQLite <tt>.dump</tt> followed by a <tt>.read</tt> with the <tt>dbsql</tt> tool.
This should then allow the existing PHP driver and application code to switch over to Berkeley DB without any code changes by setting <tt>LD_LIBRARY_PATH</tt> to find the Berkeley DB version of <tt>libsqlite3.so</tt> ahead of SQLite. Note that any other code that relies on SQLite will also run against Berkeley DB with this configuration, which can cause problems if the system libraries use SQLite (for example, on Mac OS X). For that reason, a better long term solution would be for the PHP SQLite driver to have a mode where it loads <tt>libdbsql.so</tt> rather than <tt>sqlite3.so</tt>.
I hope this helps, please let us know how you go because I'm sure lots of other PHP developers will be interested in the answer.

Michael Cahill, Oracle Berkeley DB. -
BUG: Internal compilation error, terminated with a fatal exception
After downloading the new Oracle JDeveloper 10g production, migrating all my projects, everytime I try to make/rebuild any file or package, I get the following error:
Internal compilation error, terminated with a fatal exception
This happens if use either JAVAC or OJC.
Regards,
Yaniv KundaI think the error reporting is wrong, since dbMessages.java is a translated SQLJ file, and the specified method exists in the SQLJ file around that line number - and not in the java file resulting from the translation.
Note that line 2958, in the SQLJ file, was the simple MessageHeader.Iter messageHeaderIter; line.
The definition of this class, is in a SQLJ file, which content is:
package telemessage.db.impl.iterators;
import java.sql.Timestamp;
* Contains an iterator for viewing message headers in folder view.

Q) How to compile a menu file (MMB) with library (plx) attached to it?.
I have already converted the PLL to PLX.
thanksHi,
I have both the source (PLL) & Binary ( PLX) in FORMS_PATH. The MMB file is also in the same directory as the PLL. I still get the same error. Any idea why?

Is it possible to compile under Forte with import com.ms.security.*;
Is it possible to compile under Forte with import com.ms.security.*; included in a java applet or do I need to compile from Microsoft JDK only? I would like to thank you on advanced.
Yes; just include the cab/zip file containing those classes in your project. You'll find them from somewhere in your system.
I would like to thank you on advanced. I don't give you the permission to do that. :)
