Compiz + catalyst issues

Hi everyone,
After a big update, catalyst or compiz is having problems showing my desktop properly. I cannot see my wallpaper, and anything drawn to the screen is left there (resulting in the window trails) here's what it looks like: http://i52.tinypic.com/n6e1c0.jpg
The crazy thing is when I reboot, whatever was on my screen when the PC rebooted comes back, behind all windows and immovable.
Any ideas?
EDIT: Forgot to mention, compiz is my standalone window manager - it's not run on top of anything

Good chance you're having the problem discussed in this thread. The (temporary) solution is to install 'xorg-server-compositing-fix' from AUR.
Unless it's something else.

[SOLVED] Intel+Compiz+Catalyst-utils = VERY strange error!

So,
I have an intel graphics card and am using the intel i8x0 driver - but compiz fusion refuses to run unless I have catalyst-utils present - what gives? Also the latest catalyst-utils breaks CF and I can't pin it in pacman.conf using HoldPkg.
This is very peculiar, any thoughts?

XFCE + Compiz compositing issues

Hi,
I'm using XFCE without display manager and I start it by using the command "startxfce4". Instead of using Xfwm, I'm running Compiz for window decorations, window centering and compositing. In the configuration of CCSM I've replaced Xfwm by the string "emerald --replace" as window decorator (which works fine).
What I'm wondering is: does this completely "disable" Xfwm or is it just replaced during the booting of XFCE? For I've got some applications using transparency (Guake) and compositing (Docky) which experience minor issues with regards to transparency and compositing some of the time, not always. Could this be caused by a "late" replacement of Xfwm by Compiz/Emerald?
If so, how can I fix this? Could anyone explain this to me?

I recently installed xfce and set up compiz. I was able to get the wall, expo, and ring switcher to work with xfwm and xfce panels.
To get compiz to load on startup, I had to add
compiz --replace ccp to the startup programs.
So far, xfce and compiz have been working out well.

Flash catalyst issues ??preloader??

hi guys i'm making a banner and what i have done is i have made two flash banners that can be changed by pressing two different buttons in flash catalyst but i get an error saying it cannot export because of an error in the code. i found the code error and it's saying "1180: Call to a possibly undefined method sWFController_clickHandler." i'm thinking i need a pre-loader but i don't know how to add one to my banner in flash catalyst. any one able to help?

Flash movies stream down and finish "loading" when the first frame and content that loads on the first frame is available, though frame 1001 might not be downloaded yet. You would think you'd be kinda safe with frame 2 on a T1, but I think the issue is things aren't updating in the right order rather than things not really being downloaded. Heck, it could even just be the T1 simulation that's causing problems.
Debug Movie probably isn't showing issues because it slows the timing enough to make everything ok. You could try trace statements too to see how far the code gets.
Also, you might try a full scale AS3 loader like this one http://www.republicofcode.com/tutorials/flash/as3loader/
I've found the Event.COMPLETE listener for the loader like this:
my_loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, finishLoading);
to be pretty accurate so far in regards to content truly being loaded where as previous methods gave false positives for loading.

Compiz Shortcut issues

I have recentely reinstalled archlinux on my Lenovo T400 and I decided to play around a bit with Compiz+gnome... Everything seems to work well except that I cant change the "Window Menu" and "Initiate Resize" shortcuts. It seems that Window menu is stuck as <Alt>Button3 which I would like to use for resize. No matter what I change the "Window Menu" shortcut to, it reverts back to <Alt>Button3.... Regardeless of whether I use CCSM or gconf-editor.
I figure that there is a hidden option somewhere that Im missing but I have looked EVERYWHERE. Any help would be much appreciated!

1.) Change your GTK theme to one similar to your Emerald theme (Compiz Fusion theme).
2.) I believe it's somewhere in CCSM (Compiz Fusion's configurator)... dig around some more. Or, try to find the images Fusion is using for the top and bottom on your drive ('pacman -Ql nameofcompizfusionpackagehere' and then look for the image among those)... you could search for the name of the file in CCSM's advanced search (make sure to enable searching in input fields) to find the config option, or you could just replace those images, though that's inelegant.

I re-designed my site and published it to my Catalyst account, it is showing as live but the onld design still shows up....can anyone help????

You will have to point your active domain to BC by either changing the dns record ~ the "A" record (or the nameserver).

Catalyst issue

So I had a working kde arch system going but I used the open source driver for my and gpu. I was getting some laggy video playback and some low gpu performance. Upon research on wiki I discovered catalyst was better for newer gpu's, I have a 7770 so I figured I would switch. I un installed the open source driver and rebooted. I then installed the proprietary catalyst driver Sudo pacman - Subject catalyst-utils. But now when I boot into see he terminal arch login then it says reached target graphical interface but never boots. I can hit enter to stop it and sign into my account that way. How do I revert my system back or preferably get catalyst working? PS it says '' failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)" if I try to remove catalyst-utils. Please help!

try xrandr or you can install the tool arandr which detects your display! and you can generate xrandr command.

DELL XPS STUDIO 16 (1640) input hotplugging (evdev) catalyst issues

Does input hot plugging work for anyone with dell studio xps laptops? also has anyone sucessfully installed catalyst 9.6 with 2.6.30 kernel?

I have this exact same problem, though I have a touchscreen monitor for my PC rather than a laptop. This is a bit awkward, but until I find a real solution, this works just fine: when you want to use the touch screen for CS6, hold down the mouse button. You may have to use the mouse to tap the tools you want, but at least there's a temporary solution.

Compiz+GTK issue (curio not a 'problem')

Using the GTK window decorator with Compiz Fusion gives me strange white borders around gnome panels, drop-down menus and tooltips - but Emerald works fine. Have also had this on Debian, Its not really a problem, since I can just use Emerald - but I'm curious te know if anyone knows why it might be happening

Open the Compiz Settings Manager, go to Advanced and select "Window Decoration". For "Shadow Windows" enter the string "any !dock".

What is up with the Help and Support Section for Business Catalyst?

It has been very difficult for my customers and myself to access the help and support section of the site for Business Catalyst issues as we are constantly diverted to non-related Abode issues. The portal for support on Business Catalyst issue needs to be ISOLATED from ADOBE's main support section. It is bad enough that there are so many issues to deal with, but to add all the issues for all the applications is simply impossible to decipher and discover a solution.
Before the Adobe integration on the Cloud services it was much more simpler, wiith a much more efficient and cleaner layout, now every page looks like its generated by a bot that doesn't understand what I am looking for. Even the actual URL of the page is hidden so I can't even book mark it without opening the frame in a new window. My clients will not know how to do that.

Using Business Catalyst in Dreamweaver CS6

When I click the login button in the Business Catalyst panel in Dreamweaver CS6, I get no response. So I cannot login to access my BC sites via Dreamweaver. Also, when I tried to import a Business Catalyst site via the Manage Sites... Tab in Dreamweaver CS6 nothing happens. How can I correct this?

Please check which version of Dreamweaver CS6 you are using. In case this is Version 12 Build 5842, this should work fine. If this is some other version then please go to following link and download the patch:

Can't create new business catalyst site in Dreamweaver

This question has been asked on the forums before but an answer has never been provided.
I'm trying to create a new Business Catalyst site in Dreamweaver but when I click "New Business Catalyst Site" a blank dialogue box pops up for about 2 seconds and disappears again. This happens no matter where I try to create the new site from.

A few catalyst questions.. PLEASE HELP

I am new to the program and love it so far. I am stumped on a few things though... ANY help would be fantastic!
1. How do you make ONLY the background fit to the window? I have tried referring to the other forums on relative and constraining layers, however I was unable to make just the background image expand to fit the window size.
2. My action sequence (5 pictures fading in and out) will not loop, even after going into Builder 4 and tweaking the code. I want to do it the "right way" via builder, so can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong.. Please refer to my previous discussion from yesterday for more details!
3. Is there an easy way to create a simple twitter feed using catalyst/builder?? I looked through the forums and found nothing on just a simple twitter feed. I did find a few that showed how to create a detailed twitter search and scrolling feed but that was WAY more than I am looking to create..
4. Is there anyway to change the look of the "loading bar".. the image that pops up when the site is loading!? I would like to design something to take its place!

3) Twitter....This is more a Flex problem than a Flash Catalyst issue. Depending on what you want, you just do the search api (which avoids the oAuth issues), or you will have to do some amount of coding to handle oAuth and pull a stream in.
4) To skinning the preloader, take a look at this post (http://www.leavethatthingalone.com/blog/index.cfm/2009/11/11/Flex4CustomPreloader)
Please note that once you edit a Flash Catalyst 1.0 project in Flash Builder you will not be able to reopen it in Flash Catalyst. This limitation has been partially removed in Flash Catalyst 1.5 'Panini'.

[solved] compiz gksu

Hi,
need some help with gksu. I have compiz-boxmenu installed, and i have the entry "gksu compiz-boxmenu-editor" in it. It runs fine, but everytime i run it the gksu window pops up with a shadow. After typing in my password the gksu window disapear with an second shadow that looks ugly. Sorry that i don't can explain it better.
The question is : how can i disable the shadow for the gksu prompt in compiz-settings-manager ?

I found a solution, but this has nothing to do with compiz I installed "gconf-editor" and go to "apps-gksu" and marked "disable-grab". That puts the gksu prompt in a own window without shadow

I don't know.. I use the same compiling options than other distros.
And what is 'poor performance' ? I think it isn't problem of the package but configuration or program problem. Have you see if other distros where you don't see the problem applies some patches?
