Compiz: How to start all windows maximized?

Hi all,
I'd like to start all windows maximized on my netbook running compiz. There is a an option in "Window Management/Window Rules/Matches". Putting a value of "class=" in the box will set all windows maximized but cannot be un-maximized.
Is there an option somewhere to start all applications maximized but allow to un-maximized them later on?
Thanks!

Not aware of a plugin but try this - https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=22071

    Hi
    Make sure that you set the DISPLAY env varible properly, i.e. it should point where the exceed is started.
    Make sure by running xclock command.
    And then follow as per Dinesh told in the previous reply.

  • How do I start Applet Window Maximized in 6i

    Hi All,
    I am running forms 6i and am wanting to know how to start the applet with a maximized window. I know you can set the HEIGHT, WIDTH parameters but maximized window is what I am after.
    Many Thanks

    If I understand your question properly, try putting:
    SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY(forms_mdi_window, window_state, maximize);
    in your WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE trigger.
    You can also put window_state=maximize on the command line that you use to launch your application.

  • How to start with a maximized Browser

    Hello,
    the first thing what I do when I start Aperture is to maximize the browser, so a question was born:
    Is it possible to start with the preference that aperture starts with a maximized Browser?
    I know it is just a little click on an icon, but I don't need the viewer becuase I got two displays and use the second one for the full images.

    Thanks for the shortcut "v". I didn't know that this one is for the viewer. But I also notice that aperture sometimes forget that I hide the viewer last time. This happens when I change the main display in the systempreferences. It's not a big deal pressing "v", so I do it from now on. But maybe it's a little bug, that aperture forget the preferences while switching the main display.

  • How to start a window as root in X

    Hi everybody,
    I managed to install Arch on my old laptop.
    Besides some other problems (i might come back here) I'd like to start soem applications/windows (terminal or any other app.) in my DE (icewm) as root when I'm logged in as normal user.
    How can I do this?
    McQuack

    Well now,
    This 'never-do-anything-as-root' ideology is a bit paranoid if you ask me. There are many cases where it's very convenient to be logged in as root.
    Windows users aren't getting in trouble because they run programs with Administrator priveleges, they get in trouble because they download obscure binaries from doubtful websites, and then decide to run them with Administrator priveleges. Windows users also use programs that have secret document formats that may contain hidden executable code. Then they use e.g mail programs that may seemlessly run those executables for you, without your knowledge (MS is always service-minded), if they should happen to turn up as an attatchment to some spam.
    If you're not administring a big server park for some huge company, root could be a good thing. There are few (not none) security concerns. The biggest concern is that as root, you can mess up your system really badly. Using kdesu, gnomesu, sudo or sudoedit, whatever, will not protect you from your own messing around.
    By the way, I actually thougt your question was about starting an X program as root.
    You have probably started the X server as your normal user, and in Arch, that means only your normal user will be allowed to open windows, not even root will be allowed. To give root and all other users logged on to your computer (usually only yourself) permission to open windows, type this into a terminal (as your normal user):
    $xhost +localhost
    And if you have a network at home, you can let all the users on any machine open windows on your machine, like this:
    $xhost +
    It will probably let anyone on the internet open windows as well, but the programs will be running on their computers.
    If your machine has the ip address 192.168.1.2 and the other has 192.168.1.3, then the other can open windows on your machine like this:
    DISPLAY=192.168.1.2:0 qiv nice_picture.jpg
    I remember a long time ago, in 1993, when the internet was mostly on university unix machines, and no one had to be concerned with security unless they had secrets to hide, I sat and read my mail, and suddenly a picture of Cindy Crawford popped up on my screen. Well, nowdays such things happen all the time if you don't have popup protection.
    But what had happened was that some friends of mine studying in another town, had read from the totally open user list on my school's server, and found out exactly which machine I was logged into, and then they started a program on their machine, but let the display be on my machine hundreds of miles away.
    Oh, I'm sorry, I'm a bit off topic here, but at least I think I gave an answer to the question asked

  • How to wipe all Windows 7 (Bootcamp) files, without removing the operating system?

    I have accumulated a lot of junk while using Windows 7 for a while, and I'd like a fresh start. Normally I would just delete the partition and reinstall. However, the only Windows licenses I have are a Windows XP license, and a Windows 7 UPGRADE License, meaning in order to install Windows 7 from scratch, I would need to install Windows XP first, which I do not think is possible anymore.
    So, I was wondering if there was a way to get rid of all the files, as if I had freshly installed Windows 7, but keep the partitions and OS intact.
    Thanks for any help

    I would use a program like Acronis to do the job. http://www.acronis.com/

  • HT2474 how to minimize all windows in one entry

    How do i Minimize all open windows at the same time.
    (minimize them into the dock)

    Hi there,
    Actually it doesn't!
    I'm on latest OSX - F11 lowers the volume!
    However, I think you have assigned your F keys as standard function keys but even so, if you press F11 or fn + F11, you do not minimise the windows - you just spread them away. As soon as you open an app, all the screens come back!
    What the original poster's question is "Is there a way of minimising ALL the windows at the same time onto the dock?"
    Your method doesn't do that because if you look closely, the windows are at the top and on the side AND NOT IN THE DOCK.

  • How to tracking all windows open event?

    I have a pb 11.5 app. I want to track when user open any window. Firstly, use need to open login window and verified by username and password. After that, open a main frame window with menu.  Then user will open any window for the app. I want to track when a user open a window.
    Simple solution is: in open event script for each window add a code to track who and when open this window. This need too many code as the app has more 400 window object.
    Also thinking about a solution, like a global service, when open any window, log this open event. but not sure how to do it. W
    What's the best solution with minimum code for this issue?

    You can create a new ancestor for all the windows with the code you want. Any window that is inherited from window needs to be edited to inherit from your new ancestor. That's the simplest way to do it.
    If you edit source on windows inherited from window they look like this:
    forward
    global type w_child_gen from window
    end type
    end forward
    shared variables
    end variables
    global type w_child_gen from window
    Change the work window to w_newancestor or whatever you called it. That's the simplest solution with minimal code changes.
    To find these windows you can use pbsearch to look for "from window"

  • Can someone advise how to reopen all windows from last session?

    hi there,
    i already tried to change preferences and i still cant retrive websites from latest session.
    Can someone advise what else can I do
    thank you
    anna

    Like yesterday I was reading something and forgot to save the page and this morning couldn't find it
    All you have to do is click History from the Safari menu bar. The page you were reading should be in the list.
    And, you can "search" your history. From the menu bar click History > Show History
    Type in the name of the website in the search field bottom right corner of the Safari window.

  • How to contain all windows in Application Frame cs5 MAC

    Hello,
    This is my last resort to hopefully find a solotion to my problem.
    Ive recently switched from PC to MAC, and since the switch I have had some trouble with photoshop (apparently its not the same?)
    Now please bear with mem I have trouble explaining this properly hehe
    Okay...
    When I have two photos open in cs5 in tabs, If i drag one out of the tab and then click on the photo still tabbed the one that isnt tabbed disappears! Its floating in behind photoshop over my desktop. If I minimize photoshop, I can see the file floating there?
    Is there any way to keep all files (windows) contained within the application frame itself, so they no longer "float" behind the photoshop application frame??
    I hope this makes enough sense!
    I never had trouble with windows floating outside of photoshop when I was using PC...

    Hi,
    Do you have the application frame in photoshop cs5 turned on or off?
    Window>Appliction Frame
    A check mark beside the word application frame means it's on.

  • How to view all windows as a "cascade"?

    Is there a command to create the cascading effect I've seen in Word?
    When I have multiple pages open, Window > Bring all to Front is the closest thing I can get...though it does not organize them as a cascade.

    This is a feature of OS X, not of Pages.
    Open the Windows menu, hold down the Option key and click on "All in Front". The cascade effect is from left to right, not from upper left to lower right.

    PLEASE HELP!!!

    What I did was to provide the Notifier stage with an owner. (This is only a solution if your application has a single stage.)
    1.  In method initGraphics() remove the line: stage.show();
    2.  Create the following method in Notifier:
    public static void setStageOwner( Stage stageRef )
         INSTANCE.stage.initOwner( stageRef );
    3.  In method showPopup( Notification ) add the following line before:  POPUP.show( stage );
    if ( ! stage.isShowing() )  stage.show();
    else  stage.toFront();
    4. When you setup your application's stage call:
    Notifier.setStageOwner( yourAppsStage );

  • When I only want to close the current window to return to the previous window, the whole firefox site closes down, I end up back at my desktop & have to start all over again. How can this be fixed?

    If I close a window I should be back at the previous window that I was at when I followed a link to this window. At least that's the way Internet Explorer works, which I have used for years. The only thing that prevents me from using Firefox exclusively is that it is very time consuming to have to start all over again from scratch every time I close a window. For instance, say I type "cats" into the search box. It gives me links to a list of "cats" sites. I go to a "cats" website, decide I don't like it so close the window to return to my list of sites, but instead of returning me to the list, I end up at my desktop. Then I have to start all over, just like I had not even been online. Very aggravating. I don't know how else to describe the problem, I can't believe that other people haven't had a similar complaint, unless I just have some settings wrong?

    Now up to Firefox 8 and the problem persists. Cannot go to the www.turnitin.com page and login as I used to do -- Firefox does not remember my username or password.
    Still works on Windows, and with other browsers... It would be great if a fix is available.

  • How do I set Safari to prompt before closing multiple tabs OR reopen all of the closed tabs when when I relaunch the application?  The "Reopen all windows from last session" is unselectable.

    How do I set Safari to prompt before closing multiple tabs OR reopen all of the closed tabs when when I relaunch the application?  The "Reopen all windows from last session" is unselectable.

    It would seem if your choose "Show my windows and tabs from last time" '''''and''''',
    *when you last closed Firefox, you had no web site open (just a blank tab), that it would open just that blank tab
    *when you last closed Firefox, you had one or more tabs/web site open, that would allow you to "Restore Previous Session"
    #Have you tried that?
    #If so, what is happening in each circumstance when you reopen Firefox?
    '''Restore Previous Session'''<br />
    Open tabs are automatically saved when closing Firefox beginning in Firefox 4. To open your last session, after Firefox starts, click History > Restore Previous Session. For this to work
