Complete Album Issue

Though old songs I have bought still show up, any new song I buy does not count towards completing my album. They show up as not purchased. I want to complete the album, but when I go to buy it, it tells me that I already own some of the songs and can either buy it with downloaded duplicates or cancel. Why will it not let me complete the album? I don't want to waste the money on buying duplicates. Is complete the album not applicable anymore? Or is something else wrong here? This is on iTunes 9 by the way.

I am having the exact same issue when trying to complete the album Dimanche à Bamako by Amadou & Mariam. Tried it first a few days ago, and I'm still getting the error message today.

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the corrupt tracks from the music section of your iTunes library, close & then reopen iTunes, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unchecked. This seems to help with partial downloads...
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the "Report a problem" links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

  • Why does my music from one album show up as two separate albums: one with all the songs in it, and another with two or three. Why is it that when i delete the incomplete album it takes the same songs out of the complete album also?

When I first imported music from my CDs onto my iTunes library, all the songs appeared, but those with the album artist and guest/additional artists they appeared in their own album under the same album name. After searching through iTunes help and support, I learned how to put all the songs under the same album (part of a compalition) and add the additional songs information, artwork, lyrics, etc. After getting all the music (imported from my CDs) onto the iTunes library and in their album. I synced my music onto my iPhone. (My iPhone is a 3GS)
Once the music was on my iPhone i noticed that the albums appeared in 2s again. One was the complete album with all the songs, song info, etc. together (solo tracks and/or one with multiple artists) and another album of the same name, artwork, etc. with 2-4 of the songs from that album. Since all I saw need for was to have the completed album on my iPhone, I deleted the album with only 2-4 of the songs. When I went back and selected the completed album, all the songs I had deleted from the incomplete album were also deleted from the completed album too! I just couldn't figure out why it did that and my my friends with iPods and iPhones said they didn't know what caused it either. So now I'm here with the idea how to fix this problem.
If anyone has a solution to this problem, please reply. It will be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure why this happens, but I found a workaround. Below the album title it will list the artist(s). The issue seems to happen when there are multiple artists. For example, an Album titled "Over the Sea to Skye" has The Chieftains and James Galway as artists. Some tracks (for whatever reason) will list only one of these and result in the playlist showing what appears to be multiple albums. You can click on the artists and it will highlight. Paste in what is appearing on the other "albums" and it will then show as one:
Hope that is somewhat clear enough to help. Doesn't fix whatever the issue is but it is a workaround. For me this is only happening with CD's that I have imported.

  • ITunes songs not playing complete album

I have some albums which i have purchased on iTunes using my iPhone which do not have all of the songs for the album when viewed on my mac. E.G. I have one third of the Live Lounge Album. The other songs are there but only play the preview, however when I go to the iTunes Store it states the complete album is purchased and will not let me reinstate it. what do i do?

    Hello matthewt82,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I understand that some of the songs in a purchased album are not playing all the way through.  To help resolve this issue I'd like you to please delete the songs from your Mac, and then download them again from your previous purchases list.
    Mac or PC
    Open iTunes.
From the Library pop-up menu, choose Music.
Click Songs in the navigation bar.
Click the song you want to delete.
    Press Delete on your keyboard.

  • How do i play a list of ten complete albums?

I want to listen to my music the way the production engineer put it together in complete albulms, How do I do this in Itunes? Thie is the biggest thing I miss about music match.
    Thanks in advance.

If I go by your subject title; "how do (I) play a list of ten complete albums", then the answer is put each album into the same Playlist, in the order you want them to play, and then play the list without using shuffle.
    However, if I look at the body of your thread;
    survey89 wrote:

that suggests that you are simply referring to one album at a time, and that my previous answer would not in fact address your issue.
So, even though I'm still smarting from the bashing I had after helping someone else with that question, I'll point you to the thread. The subject title is
Is there any way whatsoever to listen to an album exactly as it was recorded without it inserting gaps between the tracks, crossfading, or anything else?

You will probably need to read the complete thread, I'm afraid.
Feel free to ask further questions about your issue.

  • "complete albums" not showing all songs.

throughout the weeks i have been buying Justin Bieber's songs to his new album Journals as he realsed then song by song. Now he has released the full album i have completed the album but two of the songs that i had already purchased i have had to re purchase because they're showing that i haven't brought them and they're also not even in the purchased playlist even though i did buy them.
Also the songs I have purchased from the album haven't been added into the album when i look on the itunes store it says that i have brought them all but when i'm on my actual itunes they are still all as seperate singles and when i click "show complete album" on the journals album it's showing that i need to buy all the songs again to be in the album, how can i change this if there is any way?
    thanks.

It could be that you have inadvertently imported these CDs into iTunes as part of a compilation. If so, the artists won't show in the artists menu on the iPod.
To check, highlight the tracks on one of the offending artists CDs in iTunes, right click and select "get info". This brings up a multiple song info window, and from there you can check if you have 'yes' in the box marked "part of a compilation".
If you have, select 'no' instead and click 'ok'. Do this with any CD that has this issue. This will alter the info in iTunes, and you should then connect your iPod and synchronize the changes.
The problem arises because the information contained on the Gracenote CD Data Base (where iTunes gets all it's album/artist/track info from), is sometimes incorrect. It can show CDs as compilations when in fact they are not.
You should also check that the songs have album name info in their ID tags.
See: Some songs don't don't show under artist on my iPod.
Once you add a second album name for that artist even for a single song, ALL the rest of the songs should now show up under that artist, even those without album names.

  • Filter Suggestion: "Only Offline AND complete albums" on Android version

    Hi,
I have my Starred Playlist downloaded, so when I select "Available offline only" in Album Tab in Your Music I get a lot of albums, most of them only with a song or a couple of songs syncronized...
It would be great to have a filter that shows only the synced albums that are completely synced for whose that like listen to complete albums when they don't have connection.
    Regards.

Added kudos. I just signed up for a premium account and found this issue pretty annoying. Sadly, not many folks seems to care about, as this post has been here since last year and had zero comments... But, you know, if is there anyone listening, please consider implementing this. It's a simple feature that we see in Deezer, for instance.

  • HT1879 how do i search for complete albums?

I have an ipod shuffle and want to purchase complete albums (or better yet, find ones that are in the public domain!). I would appreciate any tips from users experienced in this issue.
    Thanks, Yaron

Photo albums are not searched by Spotlight Search.  Go to Settings > General > Spotlight Search to see and reorder the available search items.

  • How to I get iTunes to merge partial albums into a complete album?

When I've brought a single before the album was out the album then lists all the tracks but not the single(s) already in itunes.
For example I have all tracks but track 3 is missing and displayed and played as a single and its missing if i play just the album.
Real example: I have Muse's album Black Holes and Relevations, brought Supermassive Black Hole before the Album. Now I have Black Holes as a single and tracks 1,2 4-11 but no track 3. So when I play the album either in iTunes or any of my apple devices it doesnt have a complete album.
I have a few of these uncomplete albums, it is very annoying!
Any ideas what i can do?
I have been to the iTunes store online and it already says i have purchased the missing track so it recognises that I have brought it but won't put it in its right place!
    Thanks!

    The song is tagged differently.
Right-click (CTRL-click) the single > Get Info > Info and make sure the fields are the same as the fields for the songs in the album except for the name and track number.

  • How to show only complete albums in Albums view NOT singles?

I will try to explain this sa simple as I can:
    - In albums view I ONLY want my completed albums listed.
    - I tried to rename the album title of all my singles or songs with incomplete albums as "singles/incomplete albums" but they are still listed individually by artists under albums. So instead of one album names "singles.." there are hundreds with that name, just as before, one big hodgepodge of albums.
    - I just want all my full albums (500 or so) listed nice and neat NOT like 2000 albums listed.
    - To have my albums nice and sorted I have always had to make an individual playlist for eah album, under a folder called "albums". I figured by iTunes 11 I would be able to have only my full albums listed in one place AND be able to use the new slick looking interface.
    Thanks!

    - I tried to rename the album title of all my singles or songs with incomplete albums as "singles/incomplete albums"
Then you have already done the hard part.  Now, just make a smart playlist with the rule "Album" "does not contain" "incomplete".  Go into that smart playlist and switch to Album view.

  • Some of my downloaded albums tracks have been stored in my iTunes library in separate places, how do I complie them into a complete album?

Some of my downloaded album tracks have been stored in my iTunes library in separate places, how do I compile them together to form a complete album?

Generally all you need to do is fill in an appropriate Album Artist. For more details see my article on Grouping Tracks Into Albums, in particular the topic One album, too many covers.

  • I have bought complete albums in the past... Now that I am trying to download them from the cloud, some songs no longer appear in My Purchases... How can/do I retrieve them?

I have bought complete albums in the past... Now that I am trying to download them from the cloud, some songs no longer appear in My Purchases... How can/do I retrieve them?

Do those tracks still show on the album in the store ? If not then the rights-holder must have removed them, in which case you won't be able to redownload them, you will have to copy them back from your backup of your downloads/library. If they are still on the album in the store then check to see if you've hidden them : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases - Apple Support

  • Completed album out of order

A while back, I purchased 3 songs from itunes....I decided to complete the album and purchase the other songs more recently...The first 3 I purchased are out of order remaining at the end of the completed album songs and will not play in correct order on my ipod and only play in order in itunes if I click 3 times on album to sort album by artist. I have looked at all the other posts as far as using command-I and fixing track and album info but nothing works. Can anyone provide me with a little help?? Thanks.

Well like I said, if you do put those songs in a playlist you have the option of changing their order. In the library you don't have that option. The album would have sorted it by the time that you downloaded it. For example, when you downloaded the first 3 songs it put them in your library, but since you downloaded the rest of them separately, it does not group them in the right order. I know it's annoying, but that's what it does. The was to bypass that is to put those songs in a playlist, where you can change the order to whatever you want and then simply put that playlist onto your iPod and play that album off the playlist. There is only one other way that I can think of if for some reason you don't want to play them in a playlist. Once you do put them in a playlist, burn a CD of those songs and import them back into iTunes. Though I find that it's easier just to use the playlist because you can accidentally duplicate songs and it's just not worth wasting a CD for.
    Hope I helped,
    Ampaudi

  • HT1849 How do I transfer a single song that I purchased into my complete my album so I can have the complete album and not an incomplete album missing the single.

How do I transfer a single that I bought previously before purchasing the complete my album so that I have the complete album and not missing the single?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Not sure what you mean by transfer. I suspect you are trying to get it listed in iTunes as part of the album, in which case you can change the details in 'Get Info'.
