Complete Multicam in CS6?

I'm I like the diluted Final Cut fanboys that swear that Final Cut X will eventually have the features they need?
I've sent in 10 feature requests since 6.5 about multicam.  I've even got my employees sending in the same requests.
Adobe Premiere would be the PERFECT editor if it wasn't for one thing:  4 camera multicam limitation!  Why?  Why?!  Even the 2-year old Final Cut 7 could do more (64 or 128, can't rememrber).  Even Edius, a stripped down editor can do 16 I think.
Dynamic linking to AE and PS is awesome.  MPE is great!  Adobe is awesome.
But if Adobe wants to be taken seriously (and now's the time with the smart Final Cutters all jumping ship), Adobe desperately needs to add more multicam support!
Is this something that's even on the agenda for CS6?  Or am I just holding on to hope?  PP is ahead of the curve in so many areas, but this one is totally lacking.
Off topic, I feel the same way about the lack of a proxy render in PP, but I have some work arounds, but Mutlicam is a HUGE one!  There's no good viable work around for, say, 10 clips to sync up (which I do all the time).
If you agree, please send your request to Adobe's feature request: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform .  Have your brothers, sisters, aunts, employees, bosses, ANYONE else send in the same request because I don't think Adobe is getting it.  Now's the time to take over the FCP guys and bring them on board, but they can't do it with old school "4-cam" support.

Well, "fan" might be a bit strong. After all, Premiere Pro is just a tool--it's not a band or a team or a cola.
Do I like Premiere Pro? Indeed I do. Do I work with Premiere Pro exclusively or at least extensively? You bet. Do I know the software pretty well? I like to think so. Do I think Premiere Pro is perfect/good enough? Not a chance. Do I have any idea what is or is not slated for the next version of Premiere Pro? Sorry, I don't.
What I do know for sure is that no Adobe employee--and certainly no fan of Premiere Pro--can tell you definitively what is coming in the months or years ahead. You'll get to find out, just like the rest of us, when CSNext is announced or released.
I'm not saying this to be cheeky or obtuse, but it would be bad business for Adobe to prognosticate officially or otherwise what's ahead. I'm pretty sure that the reason we're on this somewhat more rapid release schedule is because the Premiere Pro team is trying to remain at least on top of the curve, if not ahead of it. For example, I wouldn't be surprised if the new Merge Clips feature in CS5.5 for dual-system production wasn't originally slated to be in CS5. However, due to priorities or roadblocks or whatever else, it didn't make it, but it was an important enough feature that a "half release" was scheduled and work began on that to get Merge Clips out sooner than later. Granted, this has nothing to do with enhanced multicam (and I'm not even sure if it's truth or fiction, but it sounds good, no?), but my point is that Adobe and the Premiere Pro team are trying to make more regular updates, albeit smaller ones, with each release. That may or may not bode well for multicam improvements in CSNext; only time will tell.
Ultimately, we all have our pet peeves and gotta-haves when it comes to Premiere Pro or any other tool, for that matter. At the end of the day, some of us--probably most of us--or going to be let down to a certain extent. Adobe is pretty responsive to user input, particularly when a lot of people make a lot of noise. Right now, the NLE game is theirs to win or lose; they're behind by a few points, but they've just been handed a turnover and the field is wide open. It'll be interesting to see what the next play will be, I can assure you. But right now, if Premiere Pro doesn't serve your needs, your two choices are to stick it out and hope for the best, or jump ship and find another solution. Cruel realities...
But back to your original point: it's the official answer. I'm sure one of the Adobe folks will pipe up and tell you the same. Sorry!

  • How to edit a clip in a multicam sequence (CS6)?

I am using Premiere CS6 on Mac, I have a multicam sequence set up (2 cam).
I just want to color correct cam 2 to match cam 1 and I cannot figure it out. Everything I try applies the correction to the entire sequence.
If someone can provide exact steps to apply color correction to one clip in the sequence only (it's just brightness/contract, nothing complicated), so that it's reflected in the multicam sequence I'd be grateful. Even a link to a tutorial would be good as I cannot seem to find it online (almost everything points to CC which I don't use and is totally different than CS6).
    Please help!

Ok, I finally figured it out, no thanks to Adobe's crap "Help" system, which is missing MANY steps...
    1. Right-click the Multi-Camera Source Sequence in the Project tab (NOT the multicam sequence you're editing). It's the one with the green/blue lines perfectly lined up.
    2. Choose Open in Timeline.
    3. In the Timeline, make the edits you want to the clip you want (in this case, Brightness/Contrast on clip 2)
    4. Go to Window > Multi-Camera Monitor
    5. You'll see your source clips stacked in the window, and you can fine tune from here.
    6. Click on the Multi-Camera Sequence you're editing in the Timeline, and the Monitor should update to reflect your changes.
You can toggle back and forth between these sequences in the timeline, adjusting as you need.
This was incredibly easy for me to document, I really fail to understand why the Help file couldn't be bothered. It's completely missing things like what the difference is between the source multicam sequence and the program multicam sequence, how to edit a clip in your multicam sequence, and how the multicam monitor works. Really pisspoor documentation, but at this point, I don't expect anything else from Adobe.

  • What happened to multicam in CS6???

Time for a new Multicam edit in Premeiere, this time in CS6.
I've got everythiogn all synched in a sequence, using Plural Eyes.  It seems that I cannot create a multicam edit target sequence.
I've been looking at tutoriaals and everything I see shows how to synch in the project panel using somee type of synching method: timecode, markers on clappers, etc.
What do I do if I uswed PE and everything is thus ready in a sequence and ready to go?
    Thanks

  • How to change the number of multicam previews (CS6)?

    Hi folks,
Just invested in CS6, upgraded from CS5, and I've got the following problem.
When I create a multicam edit, the old fanshioned way using sequence nesting, I can't seem to adjust the number of multicam preview windows, or rather reduce the number.
I'm preparing to use the multicam monitor to edit 3 clips, left cam, centre cam, right cam, from a musical performance, however the default number of previews in the multicam monitor is 9, where I only need 3. The problem being the 3 previews I need are really small because of the un-used blank previews, all 6 of them.
How can I reduce the number of multicam previews to the number I require, resulting in larger sized previews? e.g. In this case I imagine 4 preview spaces would make better use of the screen real estate. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Jon

    Jim Simon wrote:
    I need the preview monitor.
    Why?
It's easier to work using that.
But the problem now actually seems to have resolved itself. I suspect it was indeed to do with the number of enabled tracks, don't know why it didn't do it straight away though.
    Anyways. Thanks for help folks.

  • Has the "Bridge" button been removed completely from Photoshop CS6?

I made regular use of the bridge shortcut button, much preferring the full application to the "mini-bridge" in CS5.  I realise that this has been updated in CS6, but this is just not up to my normal workflow use of bridge.

Yes. The Application Bar, which the Bridge icon sat on, has been removed to free up real estate. Bridge can now be launched from the File menu (which has a corresponding shortcut), or through Mini Bridge itself. There's a Bridge icon on the right side.

  • When using Multicam in CS6 how do I choose which source file the audio comes from?

I've noticed when using the Multi-cam window to create edits, the audio does not change when I select the different video sources. How do I select which source file the audio comes from?

It doesn't make sense why the multicam source sequence only uses one track of audio. Was this by design? The issue with this as in my situation (and because I didn't know this) I recorded all my source videos with the music tracks on the right side which is what I'm using to cut my video with. Not being able to hear this while I'm cutting is really frustrating. There's a reason I separate dialog on the left side and music on the right. There should at a minimum be an option while setting up the multicam to choose more audio options. Even in the audio clip option settings, those don't seem to work when a clip is put into a multicam source sequence.
The other issue is when you bring in the audio after the fact or even before, there's no way to sync timecode with audio to the multicam sequence. When I create the Multicam source sequences in my project bin, I choose sync with timecode, not in points, because the record decks I'm using are all locked with a TC gen during the shoot.
Maybe I'm missing something, but there seems to be either a bug with multicam or a design flaw. Even in the help documentation, it states multiple audio tracks can be brought in with the multicam sequence, but only track one is enabled by default. I've never been able to have the MC sequence bring in more than one track of audio no matter what the audio settings are.

  • Bridge CS6 not displaying complete metadata

I have CS5 and am playing around with CS6.  So far so good, impressed overall.
I like to have Bridge set up to display the Metadata for each image, and when I view the metadata, it is not as complete as what I see in the CS5 version of Bridge.
Specifically, I like to be able to see the Subject Distance, which is recorded for the camera/lens combination I'm using.  In Bridge CS5, the Subject Distance displays just fine, but it is completely absent in CS6.  I have confirmed this to be the case with my Canon 1D Mark IV, and my wife's Canon 7D.
Also, I like to see the ISO as well.  In Bridge CS5, it shows nicely as "ISO Speed Ratings" while in Bridge CS6, it shows as "(ISO) Photographic Sensitivity" - kind of excessive.  If I only check the "ISO Speed" - nothing shows up.
To verify this, I made sure *all* metadata options in the Preferences menu were selected to display, but despite this, the Subject Distance is not being displayed (and the ISO labeling is a bit wordy for my taste).
Also, I posted this in the PS General Forum, and received a reply from one user that for some of his old NEF files, Bridge in CS5 and CS6 displayed the subject distance properly, while for some newer NEF files, it showed in CS5, but not CS6.
I assume this is a bug, where Bridge is having trouble reading the metadata fields for different raw files, but I welcome any advice on how to get it to display Subject Distance, which is contained in the metadata.  And hopefully pointing out this bug will lead to its getting fixed sometime down the road.
    Thanks.

    Curt,
I posted here, since it's a Bridge Function, not really Camera Raw.  Bridge is where the metadata is being displayed, where the Preferences identify the particular metadata fields, etc.
And while I understand the need to do my share of sleuthing in tracking down a problem, to better define it, I think the cause here will be sporadic, rather than systemic.  As you saw with your own files, some old NEF files displayed fine, newer ones didn't.
Some cameras store Subject Distance in the MakerNote fields, others don't.  Some lenses provide the data for Subject Distance in cameras that do record this information, while others don't.  So there is a myriad of factors involved here, and any additional sleuthing would just identify particular instances where Adobe's routines aren't correctly identifying and reading the MakerNote data.
I've identified 2 current cameras, which clearly demonstrate the problem.  Adobe can examine their routines for these cameras and fix them.  And if/when others come forward having discovered their cameras also show this problem, those can be corrected as well.
As I said, I think this is more likely to represent particular quirks in their routines as they're implemented for specific camera models, rather than a systemic, universal problem.
I spent a few hours looking for another program that will find that information, and was amazed to see how difficult it is.  Even Canon's own Digital Photo Professional does not provide Subject Distance, which shocked me.  I tried PIE, Opanda, iEXIF, Irfan, Faststone, and a few others - none of them correctly found/displayed Subject Distance.
The only one I found was ExifTool, using the mod with the GUI.  This displays it in the "MakerNotes" fields, and interestingly shows 2 data points: FocusDistanceUpper and FocusDistanceLower, both in meters.  The single datum displayed by CS5 Bridge is inbetween these 2 values - not quite the mean, but close.  And as documented above, CS6 Bridge displays none of these.

  • Insane duration of audio rerender in Multicam Timeline - is there a workaround? (CS6)

I am using the Multicam function (CS6) on timelines with a duration of 60 to 120 minutes. Sometimes I have to cut out a small portion of the video, and then Premiere needs to rerender the audio - which is quite annoying because it takes several minutes to do so.
But now it has grown even worse. I cut a small portion of the timeline, marked and copied it, undid the cuts and inserted the copied part at the end of the timeline. Then I wanted to continue editing but Premiere still started the audio rerender process - but it says it would need more than 8 hours for this?!? Seriously? (It finally rerenders a lot faster (25 minutes), but still that is more than annoying, just because I did a cut and undone it... .
So is there a way to work around this behavior or can it be avoided at all? Needless to say that an 8 hours pause in my working schedule is not acceptable at all.

    Hi Discover-Truth,
So is there a way to work around this behavior or can it be avoided at all? Needless to say that an 8 hours pause in my working schedule is not acceptable at all.
I've seen this happen to users when their sequence settings for audio sample rate do not match the clip settings for audio sample rate. Can you check on that?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Confusion about Cloud Complete/Should I uninstall CS6?

    Hello,
So we have just subscribed to Cloud Complete for teams, and one of my users currently has CS6 Masters Collection installed on his Windows 8 laptop, should we install Cloud Complete and keep CS6? CS6 subscription has expired and we don't really want to have two versions on one Computer so essentially I guess what I'm trying to ask is what are the differences and what is the best way forward - will we lose applications that are specific to CS6 that aren't in the Cloud? In addition to this I can't seem to find Acrobat in the drop down menu on the Admin Portal on Cloud Complete, is this included as well? He also still has CS6 documents - will he be able to open them using Cloud Complete Products? I am confused as to the differences between the two. Is Cloud Complete essentially like an upgrade to CS6...
    Regards,
    Michael

    HI Michael,
Thanks for your detailed query .
This is solely upto you if you wish to keep the CS6 and CC together as thats not going to hurt the functionality of the machine . Since the end user will be a part of the Creative Cloud for Teams , this would mean they can use both the CS6 & CC as a part of the subscription . There are some products that are not a part of CC such as Encore and if you wish to use Encore, I would suggest using the CS6 version of Adobe products or Master Collection only.
For the files, the Cs6 files can be opened up in CC version of the products . And also , Acrobat is a part of the CCT and the latest version should be available for you .

  • System for serious multicam work?

    Hello everyone,
I am planning to build a new editing workstation for serious multicam work. I have read lots of discussions here, in Premiere hardware forums, but didn't find help. Sorry, if my research wasn't complete.
Serious multicam - it means in my case 8-10 camera footage (10-bit, 4:2:2), some of them are AVC-Intra100 (P2 cards) and others DNxHD (220Mb/s, recorded by BMD Hyperdeck Studio). Is it possible to build up a system, which can handle all this footage in multicam work (CS6), flawlessly, in real time, or is it just my wet dream for now...?
Planned budget for this system is 6-8k €.
PS! Currently I don't have BMD Hyperdeck Studio - I've heard, that DNxHD wrapped as MXF files are not supported in PPro (even CS6). Is it true?
    Thanks!

This is a very hard decision...
As I am quite new in this forum, maybe you can help me to find some forum users with their high-end workstations, who can make a real world test, how hard is 8-10 camera (4:2:2, 10-bit) multicam project without effects (maybe some few color corrections, which should be handled by GPU) compared to single 6 core and Dual Xeon systems? Or should I make a new thread to make a call...?
Anyway, I tried to build my own (dream) system, considering opinions in this great forum.
Case: Cooler Master COSMOS II FULL TOWER
    350
MB: ASUS Z9PE-D8 Dual LGA 2011 Intel
    500
    CPU: 2x Intel Xeon E5-2690
    3950
GPU: Palit GeForce 600 Series GTX 680 4GB JetStream
    600
    RAID: Areca 1882IX-12
    800
    PSU: Enermax G1600-MA 1600W
    850
RAM: Corsair X79 Memory Vengeance Jet Black 64GB DDR3 1600 MHz
    500
    OS: 1x Intel SSD 240GB 520 SATA 6Gb/s
    300
    HDD setup in RAID3 configuration: 8x Seagate Constellation ES ST1000NM0011 1TB 7200rpm 64MB SATA 6Gb/s
    1000
    Total
    8850€
    Prices are estimated.
So what do you think? Is it good enough to handle my future multicam projects?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Adobe Bridge CS6 has stopped working - has issue been resolved?

    Hello.
I am experiencing the above problem with a new install of CS6.
    Has this issue been resolved?
CS6 Design and Web Premium installed on Win 7 pro 64 bit Dell Precision laptop. Error with Adobe Bridge cs6: "Adobe Bridge CS6 has stopped working", problem event name "APPCRASH". Error occurs when opening Bridge from Photoshop and other apps (Browse in Bridge) and directly from desktop or start menu. Also a cache directory is not being created under c:\user\<user>\appdata\roaming\adobe\bridge\. Holding ctrl key down and double clicking icon gets same message, cannot get at reset window.
Performed the following with no change: verified Bridge and full suite is on latest version (Bridge=5.0.2.4); created desktop icon directly from bridge.exe; verified application was installed and is starting with administrator privileges; verified latest display driver installed; performed complete uninstall of CS6, CC cleaner tool run, then full reinstall; Error under Event Viewer: faulting application: Bridge.exe and faulting module name: ntdll.dll; disabled UAC; tested memory for damage using MemTest86-good.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

A follow up to the above.
There appears to be a number of possible causes for this type of error. In my case it was somewhat specific. I had a stand alone copy on this same machine previously of Adobe Photoshop CS2 (only) which was completely uninstalled prior to the installation of CS6. There is an issue with Bridge CS6 being installed on a machine that has Bridge CS2 on it. I wasn't aware of Bridge being present with my copy of Photoshop CS2 but apparently there were at least some components of Bridge CS2 left after the uninstall. The workaround that solved the issue for me was the creation of an empty folder:
    C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge CS2
For those of you who may have this situation.
Here is where I found the solution (sixth thread down):
    Bridge CS6 won't open running on Win7

  • Can I upgrade from Creative Suite 3 to Photoshop CS6?

    Hello,
I have a licence of the full Creative Suite 3 on my PC. Am I able to upgrade the Photoshop part of this suite to Photoshop CS6 only? I don't need the complete package in CS6, so this would be the best way for me.
And my second question: Can I import and edit pictures which were made or edited in CS6 in the other programs in the CS3 suite and vice versa?
    Thanks,
    Benjamin

No…with a suite license it’s all or nothing at all.

  • Multicamera Edit Lags in PPro CS4

    Hi,
I am experiencing cumulative delays when making multicamera edits using the multicamera window in CS4.  I am about halfway through a 2 hour video, and with 2 or 3 streams of HDV 23.976 (Canon) video everything plays fine in the Multicamera window when starting up PPro fresh.  As soon as I press a key to switch active streams, the video starts playing very jerky, and it takes 2-3 seconds for the red highlight box to switch to the selected stream.  If I continue on without stopping and continue to keyboard select the active multicam window, the delay becomes longer and longer before the red highlight switches to the active stream. And the playback remains jerky.  If I stop playback, and start again everything is smooth until I select a different stream in the multicamera window.
Playback of the completed multicam edited sequence from the timeline is fine - no issues at all.
I am running a Core i7 3.0GHz processor with 3GB RAM and multiple SATA 7200K hard drives.
Any thoughts on what may be causing this?  I don't remember having this type of multicam edit performance degradation with CS3 on a less powerful machine.

    Does any of this help?
