Complete My Album Feature

Hello,
I've always been a big fan of the feature, lately I've noticed that when I purchase a song it doesn't diplay in the "Complete my album" catogory, even if I find the album in the online store that option isn't available. Is there a reason for this, or are the albums I selected not "Elidgible"?
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help! (=

Don't quote me on this, but this makes sense to me why some don't appear...
You only see "Complete My Album" when it is cost-effective for you to do so, for example:
An album for £7.99 with more than 10 tracks is eligible, because you're getting tracks for less than 79p each on average.
(Therefore albums for £8.69 with 11 tracks / £1.58 for 2 tracks / £7.90 for 10 tracks etc. are not eligible, because you don't save money however you purchase them.)
Obviously, free downloads and deleted albums won't be eligible.

  • Complete My Album feature not working

The “Complete My Album” feature on the iTunes store is not working when I get to the final step of actually trying to purchase the rest of the album at the reduced price.  On the home page of the iTunes store, I click on the "Complete My Album" link and I can see all of the albums eligible for completion. However, when I click on one of them (no matter if I click the little arrow, the “Complete this album for $X.XX” link, the album picture, etc.), and it takes me through to the album page with the track list, etc., my previously purchased items are not grayed out or in any way labeled as "Previously Purchased", and the album is only listed at full price.  Either way, I then click “Buy Album,” and it warns me that I have already purchased songs from the album, and it asks me to click either "complete my album" or to "purchase the full album."
HOWEVER, when I click “Complete My Album," it simply returns me back to the same album page as before - again nothing is grayed out, the album is listed at fullprice, etc.
P.S. – I have tried this with multiple albums, I’m using the most up-to-date version of iTunes, and it appears from these iTunes community forums that this problem is affecting people with both PCs and Macs.

UPDATE:  Sorry for the late response but I've been out of town.  I can copy and paste the email responses if necessary or desired, and if it's fixed already this is a moot point anyway, but basically they kept asking me for the order numbers for the two songs I already bought from the specific album I was trying to complete, which I eventually gave them - along with telling them multiple times that the Complete My Album feature wasn't working for ANY album.  They gave me two free song codes to compensate me for the two songs I bought, and then told me to go and buy the album at full price, but the ENTIRE TIME they COMPLETELY ignored that I was telling them that this wasn't an issue with one album but was a larger, seemingly systematic issue that other people were experiencing.  Even after I got the song codes I emailed them back and said AGAIN that this wasn't an isolated feature, and they just sent me the link to the apple Feedback page (http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html) and told me to submit my complaint there.
So, technically, my issue was never really "resolved," in that they never fixed the Complete My Album feature that I am aware of - or even acknowledged that anything needed fixing, but I haven't tested it since Sunday.  I've noticed they've updated to 10.4.1, but the notes don't indicate they're fixing anything about the Complete My Album feature, so I don't know.  I've heard it's working for people though...

  • What happened to the "complete album" feature

is the "complete this album" feature still valid? if so, how do you access it? also, if i buy 2 songs from the same album from the amazon mp3 store, can i "complete the album" when they are in my itunes and be able to get the rest of the album minus the 2 songs for a lower price?

If you have eligible tracks, the "complete my album" link should appear under the Quick Links at the upper-right of the iTunes Store page once you've logged in. Note that not all albums are eligible.
if i buy 2 songs from the same album from the amazon mp3 store, can i "complete the album" when they are in my itunes and be able to get the rest of the album minus the 2 songs for a lower price?
No. Sorry, but why would you expect to get a discount from Apple on purchasing the rest of the tracks when you bought the initial tracks from Amazon? In such a case it would be up to Amazon to provide the "complete the album" feature.
    Regards.

  • Complete My Album Really a Limited-Time Offer?

I have a bunch of random singles I bought over a couple years, for which the Complete My Album feature expires on all of the on June 26, 2007. Makes sense, that's there is a cut-off date before which they offer all expires on the same day.
Then I have more recently purchased singles for which the Complete My Album feature expires on various dates; it seems about six months after the purchase of the first single from that album -- each item in the list displays an "offer expires" date. Yet on the Complete My Album page, the round yellow graphic in the right corner says "Limited Time Offer - Expires June 26, 2007".
So, does the whole Complete My Album program really expire on June 26th, or is it an ongoing iTunes Store program and that graphic is merely intended to get the point across that the feature is not good forever on all albums no matter when you bought the first single, but rather ends up making it look like the whole program expires on that date?

I would think that the expiration applies to the tunes that are in the 6 month window. The "complete" option would likely still be valid for future purchases. As we are just users like yourself we have no inside info as to what Apple's intentions are.

  • Complete my Album:  John Mayer

Hi. I have been trying to use the "Complete My Album" feature to complete the following John Mayer albums: Room for Squares, Heavier Things, Inside Wants Out and As/Is. Unfortunately for the past week I have been receiving a message stating that that the album is not available and that it is being modified. Does anyone have an explanation for this? If there was a problem, it should have been resolved by now.
    Thanks.
    Scott

There may have been a problem with the files for these album that required them to be pulled from the store. If the files were actually corrupted in some manner, Apple is at the mercy of the record company to provide new or repaired files.

  • Complete My Album for Metallica's "Death Magnetic"

Since last night's release of Metallica's new album "Death Magnetic", I would have expected to see this album listed under my "Complete My Album" feature, as I purchased the single releases leading up to last night's launch. According to the iTunes store itself, see URL below, these purchases "will count towards the purchase of 'Death Magnetic' using the Complete My Album feature".
Anybody else have this same problem?
    When should it appear?
Here's the URL to the "Countdown to Death Magnetic" page:

I was given the complete my album button this morning and did so.
Just a heads up...the songs we purchased previously are mastered at a higher volume and sound different overall from the album tracks available today. This leads to a very "uneven" listening experience. It's also not iTunes Plus which *****. Wish I would have saved my money.
I'm gonna go to the record store today and buy the actual CD to import at a higher bit rate.

  • I can't complete my album in the iTunes Store application.

I purchased one song from an album, and now I want to buy the rest of the album. I used to be able to go into the iTunes Store application or tap "Complete My Album" in the Music app and there would be a button that says "Complete My Album." I tap that button, enter my password, and it does just that.
The problem is, now when I go into the iTunes Store on my iPod, the button says "Partial Album" instead of "Complete My Album", and it's grey, so I can't press it. Therefore, I am forced to buy each individual song instead of the rest of the album. Is anyone else having this problem??

"Complete My Album" is not available for all titles. For some albums one or more tracks have not been licensed and hence the album cannot be completed, and for others the record company just hasn't agreed to allow that feature. It this case is sounds like the album is missing a track in which case the "Complete My Album" feature will not be available.
    Regards.

  • Bought a song from iTunes, now can't use Complete My Album

I purchased "Foreplay/Long Time" from Boston's first album. Now I'm interested in purchase the full album, but in Complete My Album it doesn't appear. What gives?

Unfortunately, this form does not have a category for my problem.
    Indeed. : - (
As you can see, this Apple Support page refers to that form for more information about the Complete My Album feature.
You might want to try selecting a category/sub-category such as Purchase(s)-problem/This item is mislabelled which is somewhat related (emphasis on somewhat) and then filling out the Ask your question here section with the particular details of your concern.

  • "Complete My Album" isn't working on my computer

I can download singular songs, but when I try to download any album with the complete my album feature it doesn't connect. No error code pops up. It just doesn't work (accessing itunes store pops up at the top, but goes away after a few seconds). I can buy the album, but I already have four songs off of it, so I don't really want to pay for those too. I've checked my internet connection, cleared my browsing data, and even turned off my firewall for a little while to see if it was a connection/security problem, but nothing is working. Any help is really appreciated!!!

  • Thanks for a completely useless photo albums feature apple...

So just upgraded to iOS5, and today decided to take advantage of the new photo albums feature but moving my photos to folders that actually mean something.
Finally apple let you do this, or so i thought...
However I found that when moving the photos, it does not move them, but makes duplicates.
So i delete the original in camera roll as the whole point of the albums is to not have every photo mixed together in one giant backlog...
Now the photos are gone from all albums!
Not only that, but it seems iCloud which is supposed to backup your phone, doesn't actually back up photos.
Neither can i find anywhere on my computer (iTunes) where the backups/photos are located.
I suppose iTunes doesn't back them up automatically either?
    Thanks a lot apple.

    Apple can't hear you here.
This is where they can hear you:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
iCloud backs up your last 1000 photos if you have Photostream activated
iTunes on Windows can sync photos to a variety of Windows image apps - it depends what you have on your system. Connect the phone, click the Photos tab in iTunes, and see what options you have.

  • Complete My Album Misinformation

I own all 4 tracks of U2 Live from Under the Brooklyn Bridge. I bought them in 2004. iTunes Store suggests I "Complete My Album" "at a reduced price".
They show one track (Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own) as ready for my purchase. I checked and sure enough -- I already own the track.
    Another kicker..
The price for the complete album is $3.96 (four tracks). Apples "bargain offer" price for me to re-purchase track #2 (already in my collection) is $9.00
That's two bugs for the price of one! Shame there is no "report this bug" button on iTunes Music Store.

    Update.
I have a large library resulting in over 62 albums which were candidates for "Complete My Album". Here are some notes (keep in my mind I own The Complete U2, and the entire Live from Under the Brooklyn Bridge by U2):
    1. I said in a previous post I was offered to buy the remainder of the Brooklyn Bridge album for $9.00. That is incorrect. I was offered $9.00 to buy 10 of 11 tracks to How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb (the display showed both side by side -- confusing me earlier). The new feature thinks I am missing 10 of 11 tracks (as I mentioned I own them all).
    2. After looking around at my library and matching more Complete My Album offers, I notice that all of the "problem ones" seem to be tied to my U2 collection. When I bought The Complete U2 (I don't think the Live under the Brooklyn Bridge album was included in The Complete U2) in mid December 2004, I, like many people had problems downloading Gigabytes of data in one session from Apple's servers. I remember contacting Apple because the iTunes store "thought" I had all the tracks, but I didn't. They (the iTunes Store) performed a "reset" of my download status for this "album" with more than 400 tracks. This is probably the cause of the issue.
I offer via email to provide my iTunes library XML file and iTunes Database file to anyone at Apple to look at. This is a great feature -- lets get it right! I think I just have some out of kilter data no one could have imagined (2.5 years of iTunes purchases)
    Thanks

  • Where's "complete my album" gone?

The "Complete My Album" link used to appear under Quick Links in the iTunes store, but it isn't there anymore. Has this feature been discontinued, or can I find the link elsewhere?
I'm using iTunes 10.5.3 and Lion, if that makes a difference.

It's Now under Music > Classic Hits > Quick Links

  • "Complete My Album" gone?

In the past, if I had purchased a couple of songs from the iTunes Store, I would be asked on my next visit if I wanted to "complete my album" for a nominal fee. (in other words, to purchase the album's remaining tracks at a lower price than buying the full album)
Is this feature still available, and if so where do I find it? Or has Apple abandoned "complete my album"?

Thanks for the heads-up! I had a look on the home page prior to posting my question & couldn't see it, but now Complete My Album has reappeared -- either that or my vision has improved this evening!

  • Complete my Album missing?

    Hi everyone....
So, I click on the "complete my album" link in the newest itunes (it's 11 i think? not sure) and it brings me to a page with all the albums I can complete for a reduced price. Well, when I click on those, there is no "complete my album" option and it doesn't say I own any of the songs! I don't want to pay double for the songs I already own! Does anyone know the fix for this?

The iTunes Store apparently turned off several features, including Just For You, Complete My Album, iMix Search and some other stuff I don't remember to speed things up during the Xmas rush. I believe they're supposed to be turned back on in the next couple of days.

  • Unable to Complete My Album

Since January 2012 I have been trying to complete the purchase of an album (boxed set) I purchased a few tracks from.
The album in question is YES: The Word is Live.
Everyime I do I get this:
I click "Buy", then I get this:
I try at least 3 to 4 times a month. I am signed into iTunes, my CC on file is good.
Is there anybody else that has encountered this peoblem? Where can I write to have someone look into this?
    Thank you.

Not sure what you mean when about the iTunes plus thing. I started upgrading most of my iTunes purchases to iTunes Plus from the time it was available. Haven't got around to completing the upgrade yet.
This is partly down to me not wanting to spend well over £100 in one go and partly because of the large number of albums I do try and complete/upgrade individually I'm getting this error.
I've discovered that I can quite easily purchases individual tracks from an incomplete album (although it's more expensive doing it that way), it's just if I try and use the Complete my Album that the purchase process seems to go bonkers.
For the record though, no the feature hasn't started working for me and I've no idea what I can do right now to get it working.
