Complete Newbie - PAB Uniqueness

Hmmm, sorry to post what must seem a very simple question to you guys, but we have Directory Server running with Messaging Server (with little training)! Our problems seems to have arisen when converting Outlook address books to CSV files, then squirting those CSV files into the PAB using a PHP script! Now we seems to have broken the functionality of the address book side of things as we can no longer edit or add adresses via the messenger express front end - I suspect uniqueness problems - where on earth do I start looking? I know that I have some repeated values in an LDIF dump against UN: and DN:, I also know that my uiqueness plug-in is not switched on....
Thanks in anticipation....

About training ~
To anyone who might be interested in instructor led training
for Captivate (or any Adobe product), you can find the nearest
Adobe Certified training in Adobe's "Partner Finder"
located
at this link
. Rick's comment back in December might lead some to believe
that he is
the contact for training, and of course that couldn't be
further from the truth ... Adobe's "finder" can help find training
in any country in the world, or any state in the nation (if you are
in the U.S.). And of course, there are dozens of (us) certified
trainers, most of them quite possibly more convenient to you than
Rick.
To clarify - Rick might be a good enough instructor (I
wouldn't know, but I assume he is a very passable teacher) but my
point is that he is just one of many qualified Captivate
instructors. The above mention of Kevin Siegel brings to mind that
Kevin also puts on a good (training) show - in addition to writing
an excellent Captivate user's manual. Kevin presents on-line
(virtual) training seminars for those who might benefit from
learning in a "live" environment while at their own home or office.
Check that possibility out at
this link to Kevin's

  • Help Needed - complete newbie - WLC 4402

I am trying to set up a basic wireless network, completely seperate from our internal network, just utlizing the external internet bandwidth. It will mainly be used for meeting rooms and visitors requiring internet access.
There should be no need for VLans on the Wireless network.
The External 7204 router is plugged into a 12 port 2950 switch, which has a connection to the external side of our firewall. The ip address of the router is a public address, so if possible I do not want to give the WLC management ip a public address. The WLC will be plugged into the Cisco 2950 switch.
I am a complete newbie at setting up the Cisco wireless. I imagine it is down to routing - do I have to purchase another router or is the WLC capable of doing simplified routing?
Any advice would be greatly apprciated.
    Cisco WLC 4402 - version 5.1.151.0
    Cisco 3750 24 Port Switch
    External Router 7204 VXR Router
    Internal DHCP on WLC range - 192.168.60.100 -> .150
    Management Ip address: 192.168.60.2
    AP ip address: 192.168.60.3
    Virtual ip address: 1.1.1.1
    External Router ip address: 194.*.*.1

    Hi dennischolmes,
Thanks for your reply, i have tried to create an interface on the controller as you suggested. however I get the following error " Error in setting VLAN and port. Cannot have multiple untagged dynamic interface on the same port" was ondering if you could shed any light on that error.
Trying to setup the Trunk port on the 2950 switch, it won't allow me to set the encapsulation dot1q - is this down to the software version of the switch?

  • Complete newbie help

    Hi guys , just joined!!!
I am a PHP developer and have 'forced' into some work with java.
Now I am a complete noob here and I have what I hope is a fairly straight forward request. I have a jar file that I have extracted so I can view all teh classess witihin and have found a class decompiler so I can actually see the code.
I need to edit one of the classes and then re-generate the .jar file.
What software do I need (just got the java studio creator and java studio enterprise...) and how exactly do I go about this process.
I have read a few pages abut this but still not confident so would really appreciate a hand holding exercise if anyone wuld be so kind.

Hello! There seems to be alot wrong, so I don't know if I'll
get you up and running, but I'll try.
First of all you are stating "override function" for the
first 2 functions. This is only ok when you use it inside a class
(I assume you are coding on the timeline right?), so get rid of the
    override.
Secondly I am not really sure what you are trying to do with
    this part of your code:
    addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, keyDownHandler);
    keyDownHandler {function event
    (keyCode)==Keyboard.LEFT):void;{
    gotoAndStop:(20);
    addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, keyDownHandler2);
    keyDownHandler2(event )(keyCode==Keyboard.RIGHT);{
    gotoAndStop:(30);
Are you trying to specify another 2 functions (you'll have a
naming conflict then as keyDownHandler and keyDownHandler2 are
already in use) or are you trying to call the above functions?
Third there are little flaws like gotoAndStop:(30); which
should be gotoAndStop(30); and some semicolons too much.
    Hope that helps a little.

  • Complete newbie here

have a clean, wiped hdd....not formatted or partitioned at all...
    x86 system, dell gx280, p4, 1gig ram...
i downloaded the five zip files, extracted the isos and burned a dvd w the five iso's on it.
inserted into the dvd rom on the clean system and it won't boot...
question: do i need to fdisk w 98 boot disk to create a primary partition? i want a dual boot system here...would like to put xp pro on a partition & solaris on another...
how many partitions should i have total? primary is xp???? solaris will be on a logical in the extended? vice versa????
i thought the grub boot loader would launch when i set the dvd/cd rom to boot but it wouldn't go. any tips would be appreciated. thanks!

I suggest that instead of just plowing forward and trying to do something
that is completely new to you, that you spend some time preparing for the task.
Read the posts in this forum.
Read every thread from the past year.
Do not post anything, but just read and read and read.
You may not understand every discussion, but you will actually learn
    procedures, methods, terminology, and more.
Then go read the posts in the Solaris-on-x86 forum and the Solaris-10 forum, as well.
Next, compare your system to the Hardware Compatibility List.
    http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/hcl/
Many system components will have native functionality in Solaris,
but some of your system components may require third-party drivers,
and there is a possibility you may need to replace one or more with compatible hardware.
Third, read the Download And Burning Instructions web page that you may have
bypassed when you got the OS zipfiles.
    http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/download_instruction.xml
When you finally get around to installing Solaris, expect to do it
at least five or six times, over and over again. You will learn something new
each time you do that. Don't complicate the issue by wondering about
dual-boot or multi-boot with other OS's. Just install Solaris to the primaty disk,
using the entire drive for the installation. Get comfortable with this OS and you
    will acquire competency..
( Were you competent with MS Windows on the very first day you ever touched it ? )

  • Complete Newbie, Logic won't open

I'm making the switch to a Mac from my PC. I ordered logic Studio, it installed fine. I was watching tutorial videos and went to open it up and the icon just bounced up and down, the loading window came up, acted like it was going to load, and then....nothing. It never came up. This is what happens every time I try to open it. I also installed the very latest version of Melodyne cr8. I know from browsing forums that past versions of Melodyne caused problems with Logic under Leopord, but the newest version was supposedly fixed. However, Melodyne does the same thing- bouncing icon, loading window...nothing. A little help?
    Newbie.

Some people on 10.5.2 have been reporting that it takes several minutes to open Logic. It's definitely a problem, but seems that once the projects open then you can work with Logic. Just make sure you're giving it enough time to open. Check out this thread.

  • Complete Newbie with Organizing Question

Please understand that I'm a complete Neophyte at Mac, and iPhoto. Please respond accordingly.
I'm a Windows guy who has succumbed to the intrigue and mystery of the Mac. I've got the Intel Dual Core iMac with 250GB HDD and 1 GB RAM. I just got it less than a month ago, and I've managed to fill up the internal hard drive to the top. My largest HDD space is taken up by my photos. Before reading any documentation (Windows guys rarely read documentation) I "moved" my iPhoto Library from the "me" user directory/folder over to a "shared" directory/folder.
Long story short, I now have multiple copies of photos, and the calendars and books we were beginning to work on have lost their pointers to the appropriate pictures.
Here's the jist of my question. Can I just delete the entire iPhoto Library, and all the photos and then sort of start over from scratch? I still have all my originals on my PCs that are all home networked together.
My apologies for my ignorance, and also if this is covered somewhere else in the discussion forum. I'm just a bit frustrated, as well as a bit inpatient to get it all fixed. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
    Mike Macygin

    Mike,
    Delete your old library
    Under your account, open iPhoto
A new library will be created
    Import your photos
    Close iPhoto
Do a "get info" on the external drive to make sure it is formated for a Mac.
If not, use Disk Utility, found in your Utilities folder to erase it and format it for a Mac. You can also partition the drive at this time. One partition you can use for your iPhoto Library folder and the other partition you can use for backups.
Here is an Apple kb on moving the library to an external

  • Complete newbie questions

    Hi,
I am completely a beginner and want to understand some terms about J2EE.
    1. In Tomcat 4, it uses Catalina as servlet container. But, what is ANT? When and how should be used?
    2. I am using tomcat 4, do I still need to install the implementations of the J2EE platform in http://java.sun.com/j2ee/1.4/download-beta2.html ? It seems it is an application server only like weblogic or jboss.
    Thanks for advice

Yes, JBuilder can call Ant directly, so you don't have to use command line. You just need to open build-ant.xml and you'll see little ant on this tab.. Press run, and that's it!
If you want to use something other than Tomcat on JBuilder, go to Tools->Configure Servers. There you'll find list of servers that JBuilder supports and run. If your app server have another JDK, this JDK will be noticed in JBuilder as another installation of JDK. Everytime you select this server as server that runs project, JBuilder selects another JDK.
I didn't develop anything with this app server you have downloaded, but all other app servers are not free (BES,WebSphere,WebLogic). If you have trouble connecting this app server to JBuilder, try to ask on borland newsgroups...

  • Complete newbie.. do i need iphoto?

we got my daughter an ipod video 30 gb... but we are all newbies... she wants to download photos.. do we need different software? or is it ready to go? i can't seem to tell.

    avengermom:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. No you don't need iPhoto. You can place the photos you want to upload to the iPod in an aptly name folder, I use Nano Pics, located where every is good for you. Then in iTunes under the Photo section, navigate to that folder and select it for syncing with the iPod.

  • Complete newbie. Help please?

I am using Flash CS3 and Action Script 3.
What I'm trying to do is to have the playback jump to
different parts of the timeline when an arrow key is pressed.
I have found some code on the internet somewhere (I can't
remember what that was, so that is rather annoying) that does what
I want to happen, but when you click the mouse.
The code that I have is attached, and is probably complete
    gobbledygook.
I know that the two parts are different. I'm debugging it a
    line at a time.
My problem is that on line 33, the debugger wants me to have
a "{" before "function", but when I do that, it tells me that there
are extra characters after the end of the program. I have deleted
the text after and the "{" in question, and it runs what is left.
I am at a complete loss.

From my little knwledge, it is not possible to insert FLV
file in the HTML page directly. For this you have to made a player
with flash which plays the FLV.And this swf can emdded in the HTML
    page.
You can also download free flash videoplayers like JW Player.

  • Complete newbie: Linux, and writing drivers...

I have spent a bit of time searching this forum, and reading over a
good deal of older posts to get an idea of things.  I am
completely new to LabView --- I have not even used it yet --- but am
looking to get to know it better in the near future.
My first questions relate to LabView on Linux.  I have read a few
posts about the differences between the Linux and Windows versions, but
these were fairly old.  Is the Linux version still lacking
compared to the Windows one, or are the differences fairly small
now?  In addition, there are a few pages which state that Debian
is a supported distrobution, but the FAQ does not list it: is that a
simple oversight?  My work system runs Ubuntu (a Debian-based
distro), and I would like to stick with that if possible, but if I
would be better off using the Windows version I can access a Windows
    system.
I have also been looking into writing LabView drivers for accessing
dedicated hardware.  Most of what I have seen and read so far
relates to drivers written in LabView, however, I have read a little
about then being written in several other languages.  Is there
anywhere I would be able to get the source for any drivers written in
C, so I can see what exactly is involved in writing one.  I find
it a lot easier to understand these kinds of things by looking
at examples, rather than explanations (with is the bulk of what I have
found so far).  If I can see examples written for both Windows and
Linux, that would be even better --- that way I could understand the
differences between drivers for these two operating systems.

A couple of things to clear up (or muddy up!). LabVIEW "compiles" its code the first time you run it after loading or changing code. It doesn't, at this point, create a file that can be executed on another computer without the development package. To do that you need to purchase the Professional Development package, or one of the lower versions and the Application builder toolkit. This toolkit creates an installation package that includes a ".exe" file. To run it you will need to install the LabVIEW runtime engine on the target machine. This can be done by the installation package created by the application builder, if so configured. The runtime engine is a fairly big package in version 7.1, and this causes a lot of comments by the VB and VC++/.NET folks, but the truth is they also have a runtime engine requirement, theirs is just automatically installed as part of Windows.
Instrument drivers, for standalone instruments (GPIB, serial, etc.), usually do include the source. In the current (this does not apply to IVI drivers, they are a whole different category) method of writing these types of drivers, calls are made to some LabVIEW resources that use what are called VISA functions. VISA is a technology that provides a level of abstraction between us and the actual hardware port (GPIB, serial, etc.) Most of these standalone instruments are setup, programmed, read, using commands that consist of ascii strings. So drivers in this case are functions that convert settings for instance into the appropriate string of commands, i.e. "RB 3000000HZ;VB 1000000HZ;VAVG OFF;VBR 0.300000;" sets the resolution bandwidth, video bandwith, video averaging and video bandwidth resolution on a HP859x series spectrum analyzer.
For the National Instruments cards LabVIEW comes with a bunch of tools to make talking to them easier, it still being at a relatively high level of abstraction, where a settings, etc. are passed to and from some built in function. The problem comes with boards from other vendors. There you are at the mercy of drivers they supply, as obviously National Instruments is not going to devote their development resources to drivers for hardware from competitors. The drivers from the other vendors range in quality from pretty good to what looks like it was written by the new hire engineer that had a copy of LabVIEW dropped on their desk and were told "we need some LabVIEW drivers for the biphase framistat by next Friday!".

  • Complete Newbie trying to use Ultra Key

    Hello,
I am a total newbie, and am working on learning to use my new green screen & lights :-) So far, I am able to get the vast majority of the green out.
Here is a shot of the green background:
    Here is my background:
    Here is my end result:
You'll notice the fuzzy remanants of the green screen after using Ultra Key filter.
How do I get rid of this? Any help is much appreciated
    Thanks,

You do need to start of with a relatvely uncreased, evenly lit backdrop.  I can see why you're having problems.
    With just one eyedrop sample...
I would try and create a garbage matte to mask out as much unwanted background as possible and then try the key on the remaining content.

  • Please help a complete newbie get to grips with website project

    Hi all,
I've been following a lynda.com tutorial called Creating a First Web Site with Dreamweaver CS6. I have limited HTML and CSS knowledge, but i thought i'd be fine if i didn't stray too much from the advice offered in this tutorial. The problem is, the tutorial is designed around creating a responsive website. Whereas the site i'd already designed in Illustrator uses fixed width & height type rusted metallic backgrounds and boxes that the text sits on is mean't to sit on. Anyway, all was going well until i hit the section that deals with creating a mobile layout; in particular a mobile.css. Obviously my fixed parameter boxes, created in illustrator, don't adapt to being scaled down from their original settings.
I hope i'm making some kind of sense, since i've had very little sleep because the little one has a cold.
So my question is, do i create a whole new mobile layout in illustrator? So for example my desktop background is 1366x1000, so i''d want to scale this down to 480x800 for mobile. Likewise the same for the rusted metallic text boxes. The header box at the top of the page is 940px by 185px, so i'd create one that's roughly (just a crude guesstimate) 380px by 85px etc etc. I've uploaded a still shot of my project here, so you get a better idea of what 'm talking about - http://imageshack.us/f/15/ba9t.jpg/
The code for my html is -
    <!doctype html>
    <html>

As you can see my knowledge of coding is abysmal, i'm definitely more of a designer than a developer. Can any one of you benevolent, intelligent and hopefully patient individuals please offer me some help and advice on how to progress, and also how to clean this cluster f*ck of a nightmare coding up. So that i can transform this into a decent desktop/mobile website. Do i have to create a whole new mobile website. and some how link to it? So that a device trying to view this on a smaller resolution automatically accesses the mobile version. How would i proceed with this?
Thanks again for any help you can offer me, it's most appreciated

Hi & welcome to the Dreamweaver Forums!
Illustrator or Photoshop are OK for making images and design comps.  But don't use them to generate code.  The code is hopelessly rigid and unstable; not suitable for use on real web sites.
You'll be doing yourself a huge favor if you close DW for about a week and learn everything you can about HTML, CSS and web design theory.  Without a working knowledge of fundamentals, DW is going to be a frustratingly steep learning curve.   If you come to grips with code first, DW is fairly easy to learn.
    Tutorials sites:
    http://www.html.net/
    http://w3schools.com/
    http://www.csstutorial.net/
    http://phrogz.net/css/HowToDevelopWithCSS.html
    http://webdesign.tutsplus.com/sessions/web-design-theory/
#1 Don't paint yourself into a box.  Web pages need to be flexible to work in different displays and devices.
#2 Page height is determined by content; not explicit values.  Your CSS layout needs to be built in such a way as to accommodate both long and short pages.  Otherwise it will fall apart when visitors change their browser settings.
#3 Positioning (APDivs or Layers) are pure poison in primary layouts.  98% of what you do requires no positioning whatsoever.  Learn to use CSS floats and margins to align elements.
#4 Start with one of the pre-built CSS Layouts in DW.  Go to File > New > Blank page > HTML.  Choose a layout from the 3rd panel and hit the Create Button.  SaveAs index.html.  Add your own images, text and CSS backgrounds.  Examine the HTML & CSS code in Split View to learn how the page is structured.
Feel free to post back if your run into any problems.
    Good luck!
    Nancy O.

  • Where can I find a tutorial for Xcode 6.1.1. The only one I can find is for V5 and the tutorial does not seem to match? I am a complete newbie to Xcode.

I am looking to start learning Xcode from the ground up and happy to help myself using published tutorial.
At present the current Xcode in the App Store is V6.1.1
The current published I can find is for V5 at https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/referencelibrary/GettingStarted/RoadMapi OS/FirstTutorial.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40011343-CH3-SW1
I am seeking the tutorial for V6.1.1

    Hokanst
many thanks for your effort. The challenge I have is that the text and images in the online (PDF) tutorial to which I refer, does not reflect the screen images of the Xcode application.
    cheers
