Complete shut down

Phone completely shut down after the screen froze and haven't been able to power it back on. Any help?

Try powering it up while the A/C adapter is hooked up to it.. let it charge for a while if the battery shows 0%..

  • After having no internet for over 24hrs, my IPad has completely shut down. I have tried everything I can think of, including a reset but think that was a really bad move!! Any ideas for how to get my pad back? Simple words please..I am not a pro AT ALL.

My internet was down for over 24hrs after a storm. During that time, my IPad completely shut down and I can't get it going again.  I studied the manual but couldn't find a similar topic.  I reset it and now it is totally goofed up.
Does anyone have any ideas or should I just take it to an Apple store and pay??  Any solutions you may have, PLEASE use simple words as I am not a pro, by any means....probably why I'm in this situation.
       Thank you in advance.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • VI file cannot be completely shut down!?

    Hallo all experts,
My VI application is to communicate with an A/D converter. It only works properly one time after opening. I have to totally close LabVIEW, then start it again for a second run. When I run HyperTerminal after stop the application, windows says that another program is using the COM terminal. It seems that my VI application cannot be completely shut down, but Why? Is it normal? There is a producer-consumer structure inside my code, perhaps it is due to the bad synchronization of terminating them. Have you ever experienced such situation?
    Any tips are highly appreciated.

I agree with Centerbolt that the best course of action is to manually close your VISA session in your LabVIEW VI before the VI shuts down. Another thing you can do is to set an Environment option in LabVIEW under Tools >> Options. You'll see a checkbox there called Automatically Close VISA Sessions that shuts down VISA sessions whenever the VI goes idle that was using it. Both these methods should save you from having to restart LabVIEW everytime.

  • My iPad 2 won't charge and it's completely shut down. I've tried pressing the two buttons simultaneously, but nothing works. It's driving me crazy! Any offers of suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    1. The most efficient way to charge an iPad is with the charger that came with the iPad and having that plugged into a wall outlet. Trying to charge while connected to a laptop often doesn't work because the USB port may not provide enough power.
    2. Once an iPad battery has completely drained it may take an hour or more on the wall charger before the iPad responds. So after an hour on the charger reset the iPad. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.
    3. If the iPad still does not start up make an appt at the Apple store. It will be far better if you have an appointment rather than just walking in because those with appointments will be taken care of before you are.

  • Computer completely shuts down

For the past two days I have been working in illustrator and with about an hour or so left on my battery my computer completely shuts down. I have now lost 2 days worth of work. Extremely frustrated!

Run Apple Hardware Test on your MacBook Pro.  Also run disk utility to repair your hard drive and permissions.

  • 10.4.10 completely shuts down in the middle of an app

    Hi
Since downloading the new update 10.4.10 for my Macbook Pro Core Duo
i have several uncharateristic complete shut downs in differnet applications.
One in Preview, one while typing and email in Mail and one in Safari.
I have had no Printing issues, no airport issues.
I have not a clue how to rectify this issue, but what I am reading in the discussions this update seems to be floored on a few accounts.
Any pearls of wisdom from anybody.

    Hi Stanley,
sorry for the tardy reply I have had a few busy few months with not a lot of internet access.
I am getting errors. I had a look at the crash report via the console manager. It does not look good, but i am not sure what i am looking at.
I also don't know how to check the disk space my boot disk has. I can see the volume via the sys pref but don't know where to look for available space or how much is left. Please advise.
how does this effect the automatic shutdown.
my computer is also not letting me shutdown at all. it goes throught the motions of exiting but it gets to the point where I am just getting a blue screen and a radial symbol rotating rapidly. From here it will continue to do this for a long time. and not stop unless i remove the battery and electrical power supply.
what do you think or what do I do from here?
    Much appreciated.

  • I don't think my computer is completely shutting down.  I think it is only going into sleep mode.  When I hit the power button, it turns off immediately instead of shutting down.

I don't think my Mac Pro is completely shutting down.  When I hit the power button, it just turns off immediately instead of going through the normal shut down procedures.  I heard that I should try resetting the SMC, which involves removing the power cord.  However, when I remove and replace the power cord, it turns on automatically, so I can't even properly reset that to see if it is the issue.  Is this probably a power supply issue?
Actually, in case this information helps... The computer went into sleep mode the other day, and would not come back.  This is a work computer that I use for our photography business, and at this point I am just trying to run it as a drive to get the photos onto our new computer, but this issue is keeping us from doing so.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Try a SMC reset.

  • Why has my iBook started to completely shuts down when power runs out?

I purchased my iBook G4 in early 2006 (OSX 10.4.11)
Until last week, I would regularly use my laptop until the battery charge was used up. I would get a low charge warning and it would automatically sleep. I could then plug it in to charge. When it was plugged in, I could touch the track pad or power button and all of the programs that were open when the power ran out would be there, just as I left them.
This has recently changed. Now when the power runs out, I receive the same low charge message, but instead of sleeping, my computer completely shuts down. When I press the power button to reboot, everything starts back up fine, but I get a message that my date and time are off and need to be reset. I then go to the Date and Time menu, which automatically updates through my wireless connection.
    My questions are:
    1. Why is it shutting down instead of sleeping?
    2. Why is my date and time reseting to an incorrect date and time?

The difference is that in the past, your battery shut the computer down when their was enough juice to safely sleep the machine. Now it thinks it has enough juice, but it's truly running out. The battery is necessary to maintain the date and time in the computer.
Your battery needs to be calibrated. You should follow the instructions at:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh1959.html
This will allow the battery to truly know how much juice it has left.

    Hi danmcl20,
Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like you have no service in the status bar. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you isolate or resolve the issue.

  • My iPhone 4 registered 60% battery and two minutes later completely shut down

My iPhone 4 registered 60% battery and two minutes later completely shut down, next day it said it had zero battery and turns back on after plugging in for a few minutes... what's going on?  I was using the maps application in the minutes before it shut down on me.

Maybe it's just the battery percentage display that is messed up?  Have you done the recommended monthly or so drain the iPhone down to the point it shuts down and then charge to 100%, to recalibrate the readout?

  • My ipod touch completely shut down after i tried to update the software. It won't respond at all. Any advice?

Hi, I was updating my apple software and my ipod touch completely shut down. I got an error message that my ipod touch could not be restored. what the ????
please help. it wont start at all, no power. itunes doesn't even recognize it anymore.

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."

  • I am also having trouble with my cursor freezing after installing Mavericks. Never did it before. I called tech support at Apple and they had me restart computer and mouse together from a complete shut down. So far has seemed to work.

I am having trouble with my cursor freezing between applications after installing Mavericks. Called Apple on my 3 year warranty and opened a case. They suggested a complete shut down of computer and turning off mouse. Then a reboot and turn on mouse. So far iit has seemed to work. Hope this continues??
    Hope it helps others.

I think you can solve your problems by removing your AppleID email address from BOTH the Messages setting on your iPhone and the iMessages settings on your Mac.
    On iPhone:
    Settings > Messages > iMessage > Dissabled
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > touch the "(i)" < touch "Remove This Email"
    On Mac:
    Open "Messages" application
    Click "Messages menu > Preferences
    Click "Accounts"
    Select your AppleID account
Under the "You can be reached for messages at" settings, uncheck your AppleID email address and your phone number
Then uncheck the "Enable this account" setting
And lastly, ask all of your friends with iPhones to delete all iMessage conversations (blue bubbles) in their entirety.
To test, send a friend a new text using their phone number (not their email address) and watch the color of the bubble.  If it's green then you are using SMS.
