Completely Deleting Photos - How To!!??

I have been reading and I know this has been covered a bit here, but I am unable to get the results expected.
I need to delete over 5000 photos from my iPhoto library and get them off my hard drive. I have searched here for instructions and have tried the following....
1.iPhoto->select album-->highlight all pics in album-->right-click, delete.
2.delete album
3.Use finder to navigate to iphoto library-->originals-->search for all photos I just deleted from library-->delete from originals folder.
4.Empty iPhoto Trash
5.Empty HD Trash
6. Restart
7. Open iPhoto...Album is gone, but pictures are still in library!
Please, please, does someone have a one or two, or even three step process for deleting photos COMPLETELY??
I have investigated a program called iPhoto Diet, but to date it has not been upgraded for iphoto 6.
Thanks for any help, advice, specific steps, etc....
Adam

This is gonna sound awkards, but I need totaly the opposite results. This is what happened:
I just wanted to delete about 300 photos from the library, so I moved the desired ones to a specific album. Left the undesired ones in the library.Chose Select All , then Delete, and then emptied my trash. However, when I went back to see the albums..THERE WERE NO PICTURES. Almost collapsed.
So tried to look for them in the hard drive and found 56 MB ( about the size of my 2000 and something photos) stored somewhere in the computer, but can't get to restore them.
Also tried to create a photo library1 , with the hope that they would come back, but nothing happened. Please help. As you can see I'm a novice in Mac.
Please any advice on how to recover my photos will be greatly appreciated.

  • How to completely delete photos?

Hi, I am using iphoto 5 on my G5 iMac running leopard. I am taking a digital photo class and we are taking a lot of 'test' pictures to learn the manual controls. So I am deleting 75% of them after downloading, in order to determine which meet the class assignment. But I went into the iphoto library and the photos I've deleted are still there in the folders by year and download. It appears that while I deleted them from the library, they still live in the iphoto library files.
So how do I completely delete photos that I don't want? It seems laborious to have to go into the library files in my user folder and have to open each year and folder and relook at them to find the ones I didn't want. I looked in iphoto preferences and didn't see any setting for how deep to delete. Can anyone help?

To delete photos: Put them in the iPhoto Trash and then empty the trash.
It seems laborious to have to go into the library files in my user folder and have to open each year and folder and relook at them to find the ones I didn't want.
Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.

Please help  Delete photo how to recover it

Isn't this stupid?! The data must be on there (like on a windows PC unless the harddisk
It's not "stupid" when you have some understanding about iPhone data security and encryption.  Windoze has no security, which is why it's so easy to "undelete"  even when the data has been overwritten.

  • Deleting photos from iPhoto Library in bulk?

I have a MacBook Air and need to make room in my iPhoto Library for new photos as it is full - I have already backed up the photos on an external drive so safe to completely delete.
How can I do this in a date range rather than going through and selecting each individual photo?
I cant select all and delete as I want to keep recent ones on there.

To select only older photos  create a smart album and set a "Date" Rule:  Date is in the Range ....
If you want to keep your highest rated photos you could press the "+" button and add a rating rule:
Match all of the following conditions:
"Date is in the range ....."  and "My rating is not *****".
The select abut  a hundred photos in this album and move them to Trash by pressing ⇧⌘⌫.
    Empty the Trash.
Take care to put not too many photos into the Trash at once, or it may refuse to be emptied. There is an unfortunate iPhoto bug, that prevents you from trashing thousands of photos at once.

  • How do i change my iCloud account on my iPhone? I want to change it to my husbands so all of our information syncs, but will this completely delete my iCloud account? and by doing this how will my phone change (such as contacts, photos etc.) ?

I want to change it to my husbands so all of our information syncs on to my iphone and our ipad, but will this completely delete my iCloud account? and by doing this how will my phone change (such as contacts, photos etc.) ?

    Bad idea.
What information do you want to share, exactly?  You can share contacts, reminders, and calendars with other iCloud users without the need for both of you to use the same iCloud account.  You can authorize both phones to use apps purchased under the same Apple ID without sharing an iCloud account.
Sharing an iCloud account is a bad idea in general. There is too much opportunity for someone to damage or delete data that will affect both.

    To transfer your photos:
Transfer and erase the Camera Roll:
Connect the iPad to your computer and launch Image Capture, iPhoto, or Aperture.
Select your iPad in the Devices list and click "Import all".
When the import finishes, you can erase the contents of the Camera Roll, if you want. That would be the quickest way, but deleting it on the iPad in the Photos.app would be safer, but more work.
Delete photos and video clips you synced to your computer using iTunes: Connect your device to your computer and, in iTunes, deselect the photos and video clips you want to remove from your device. Click Apply, and click Sync.
    Delete the Photo Stream contents:
How do I delete photos from My Photo Stream?
You can delete photos from your photo stream the same way you delete other photos from your iOS device or Mac. Just select the photos you want to remove, and tap the trash can icon or click Delete. On your PC, select the photos you want to remove from your photo stream, right-click, and then select delete. When you delete a photo from Photo Stream on one device, iCloud will automatically delete it from the Photo Stream album or view on your other devices. Learn more about deleting photos.

  • HT204022 how can I be sure a photo or video has been completely deleted from all devices and iCloud?

I see all the information about deleting photos from Photo Stream, but is that the same as the iCloud and if not, how can I delete something completely from all devides and my iCloud account?

Sorry, I can't tell what it is you're trying to ask. What does the warranty have to do with your intention to return the iPad (to whomever) and get another one?
There's no way to deactivate a warranty.
The warranty transfers with the machine, has nothing to do with the owner.
Look around in the Support pages, you can figure out a way to type in your serial number and see what your current warranty status is.

  • How to complete delete everything from my icloud account.

How to complete delete everything from my icloud account. Like brand new.

First go to Settings>iCloud on your device and confirm that everything is turned to Off, and that you are not syncing any data with iCloud before proceeding.  (If you are, when you delete the data from iCloud it will also be deleted from your device and it will be lost.)  When you turn these off, you will be given the option to keep the data on your device.
To delete your contacts, go to iCloud.com from your computer, log into your iCloud account and open Contacts, click on All Contacts on the left, to the right click on any single contact to select it, click on the Actions (gear shaped) icon at the bottom left and choose Select All, then press the Delete key on your keyboard.
For Calendars, open your calendar on icloud.com, click Edit on the bottom left, then tap the minus sign to the right of each calendar to delete it.
For Notes, open notes on icloud.com, click on each note on the left, then click Delete at the top to delete it.
For Reminders, open reminders on icloud.com, click on each reminder and press your Delete key to delete it.
For Mail, open your mail on icloud.com, click each folder on the left (such as your inbox), click on a single message to the right, press Control-A on your keyboard to select them all, then press your Delete key.  Repeat this for each of your mail folders except Trash.  When finished, click on the actions (gear-shaped) icon on the bottom left and select Empty Trash.
To delete your my photo stream photos, open the album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap the trash icon. If you want to keep a copy of them on your device, save them to your camera roll first.

  • How do I delete photos PERMANENTLY?

I have moved photos to the trash can and emptied the trash can multiple times and they keep popping back up in Iphoto. Not just Iphoto but many other files are not actually being deleted. Plus, I'm finding random snapshots of my family's phone numbers etc. that I didn't take.
WHAT KIND OF SECURITY IS THIS....I'm about to smash this piece of crap, delete my account. this is blackmail. Some idiot told me to download avast as well. There are NO APPS that help with anything on this Macbook Pro piece of worthless ****. Complete wasted investment.
I don't even know where the icloud website went with all of my stories etc. I can't figure out how to go into icloud or shut off icloud. My iphone was stolen and I didn't want all my backup files restored but the idiot at the phone company wanted me to wait ten minutes so I got all my contacts back. I got a new Iphone and now it's just a mess. I have all these pictures I want gone and I can't get rid of them. I have deleted them from my phone, and there are even parts where there are no option to delete the photos from my iphone.
And there are random images cropping up on my mac of other photos. Photos of phone numbers on my Iphone! SCREENSHOTS OF CHATS AND CONVERSATIONS THAT I NEVER TOOK!

It sounds like some image files were accidently imported into iPhoto. It's happended to others when a folder was inadvertantly dropped onto the iPhoto icon in the Dock thus importing all image files in that folder.  One user somehow dropped the Applications folder onto the iPhoto icon importing all of the graphic image files in those application.  Caused a real mess.
Also you may not be deleting photos from the iPhoto LIbrary properly:
Deleting Photos from an iPhoto Library
1 - from an Event or the Photos mode: select the photo(s) and use the Delete key to move the photos to the trash bin. Then empty the iPhoto Trash bin as follows:
2 - from an album, smart album, book, slideshow, card, etc.: select the photo(s) and use the key combination of Command+Option+Delete to move the photos to the trash bin.  Then empty the trash bin as above.
3 - lastly, empty the Trash bin in the Dock as the files get moved there for one last opportunity to abort the deletion.
NOTE: deleting a photo from an album, slideshow, book, etc., with only the Delete key only deletes that photo from that item. Deleting a photo from an Event deletes ALL occurences of that photo in the library.

  • I'm running iPhoto '08 version 7.1.5. My collection of 25,000  photos on iPhoto library is completely empty. How can I get them back?

I'm running iPhoto '08 version 7.1.5. My collection of 25,000  photos on iPhoto library is completely empty. How can I get them back?
I dragged one photo to the My Pictures folder in Finder. I knew it was just one photo because it was the only one highlighted in yellow. When I saw it in Finder, it was labled iPhoto. I thought it was the wrong picture, so in Finder I deleted the file. When I got back to iPhoto, EVERYTHING was missing. Events, photos, recent, and even trash. At this point, I went into my Trash. I searched for iPhoto and iPhoto was there. I opened it and it was still empty. All I want to do is to get my collection of photos back!

Best solution is to load your backup from before you did this?
Where did you drag the photo from?
Have you tried dragging it from the trash to the desktop?  What size is it?
What size is your iPhoto library in the pictures folder?

  • How to completely delete Photoshop Elements from my computer??

    Hi
I am trying to completely remove Photoshop Elements from my computer.   So far, I have failed in my attempts to do this.   The reason I'm doing this is b/c for some reason that I can't fathom, the folders in My Pictures -- the folders named by shot date -- contain random duplicates. When this happens, the file names folow the convention of DSC_0222 and DSC_0222-1. Exactly the same file size and metadata.  In some folders, every picture is duplicated. In other folders, only selected pitcures within the folder are duplicated.   I can't figure out how they got there -- e.g. it doesn't seem to bear any connection to the photos I've edited, which was one theory I had for a while.   Is Elements responsible? Or is this some sort of bug in the download process from the camera (I have a Nikon D40).  Anyway, I've given up on trying to sovle this problem and decided I would go back to the beginning and reload everything from my camera.   So, my real question here is about how to completely uninstall Elements.
Here's what I did:    I uninstalled Photoshop Elements through the Add/remove programs utility.  I got no errors during the uninstall process.   Then I completely deleted the My Pictures directory (don't worry -- I have it backed up in multiple places!!).   So, at this point there are *no* pictures on my computer at all.    I reinstall Elements, open it up and -- you guessed it!!! -- the catalog is still there with all the thumbnails of the pictures that i deleted from my hard disk.   Of course, each thumbnail is flagged as "Missing File".
So, how do I uninstall/reinstall Elements and get it to forget all memory of the previous catalog?   Why is it "remembering" it in this way when the pictures aren't even on the computer anymore?  Isn't this a bug???
I've been working on this issue for much longer than I care to remember-- if anyone can tell me how to get myself truly back to ground-zero so I can start over I would be deeply grateful.   After upgrading to Elements 9 (from 7) to try to solve this problem I am close to just abandoning Elements entirely.....
WHile we're at it, if anyone has any idea where the duplicates pictures are coming from and how I prevent that from happening, I'm' all ears!!!!
    Thanks!

    Hi
Thanks so much for the response.   So, Help/System Info says that the catalog is here:
    Catalog Location: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs\My Catalog\
but no such file appaers to exist.  In fact, I can only get as far as All Users.   Then there is no directory under that called "Application Data".
i'm still seeing the thumbnails when I got into Elements tho'....   :-(

  • How do you delete photos in photo stream?

How can I delete photos on my photo stream? My daughter added a monster photo that I would like off my phone and iPad. I know how to turn off photo stream i want to delete a photo. Thank you.

You cannot actually delete photos a la carte from Photostream unfortunately. I am sure this is a huge request for Apple, but right now, it is an all or nothing deal.
What you can do is completely reset Photostream to clear out everything that is there. Make sure that you save your images to an album or event in iPhoto, the Photo app, or a folder in Windows so you don't lose them.
You can then go to iCloud and click the "reset" button in Photostream to purge the images form the server. Then go to each device an turn Photostream off and back on to purge the local cache.

  • How to delete photos or songs from iPhone?m by deleting photos or songs

The Apps store tells me I can get an update on an App I downloaded, but to make room for it, I must first delete songs or photos. I have no clue how to do this without also deleting photos or songs from my Mac computer. Is there an easier (or smarter) way to make these deletions from the iPhone?
    Thanks.
    Ralph

If these pictures were transferred from your Mac and you use iPhoto for photo storage selecting iPhoto albums to be transferred to your iPhone, deselect the iPhoto albums under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences followed by a sync to remove the photos from your iPhone. If these were photos that were captured by your iPhone, use iPhoto to import the photos. When the import process is complete, iPhoto will prompt you to erase the imported photos from your iPhone just as when importing photos from any digital camera.
If you want to remove songs that were transferred to your iPhone and you choose an iTunes Playlist or Playlists to be transferred to your iPhone, remove the songs from the Playlist or Playlists in iTunes followed by a sync to remove the songs from your iPhone.
