Completely frozen and unrecognized

Ive tried about everything and nothing works. My ipod is frozen on the "do not disconnect" screen and if i want it to go off, i have to disconnect it and wait until the battery dies. I tired pushing all the stupid buttons and all that but it still doesnt work. Also, non of the USB ports on my computer recognize the ipod nor does itunes. Any suggestions to this would be greatly appreiated. Thank you.

A little housekeeping first. Read this:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305136
Even if no new USB Driver is available, reload the windows USB Driver following the directions at the end of the article.
Continue to use a rear port and disconnect all other USB devices except your iPod, keyboard and mouse.
If iTunes can now see your computer, Restore your iPod. You may have to force it into disk mode http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651

  • IPhoto library is completely frozen, and invisible

Hello, everyone. My iPhoto library is completely frozen, and invisible, despite several force quits and restarts. Any ideas? It is a big library, some 13.5GB, but this has never been a problem until now. I even attempted to restore the library from Time Machine.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

    - the phone will turn off and the apple logo will appear
    - once you see the apple logo release both buttons
    Hope this helps

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

  • I have an ipad mini and it is completely frozen and has not synced for over 12 weeks  error message says Icloud Backup  This ipad hasn't been backed up in 15 weeks. Backups happen when this ipad is plugged in, locked, and connected to wi-fi

I was given an ipad mini for Christmas.  It has twice frozen completely up.  It is also not backing up or syncing with my other devices.  The prompt on the screen states:
    icloud backup
this ipad hasn't been backed up in 15 weeks.  Backups happen when this ipad is plugged in, locked, and connected to wi-fi.
then there is an OK bar underneath
anyone experience this and if so how do I reboot?
    Gigi

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • HT4199 I have tried all of these solutions and none of them seem to work! I am using my at home connection but when ever I go to enable the Wi-Fi connection it is like the button is completely frozen and won't let me switch it over to the on position.

What can I do? I have tried all of the support suggestions that this website has given me and the Wi-Fi on my iPhone 4S is acting like it is frozen! It wont even let me turn the Wi-Fi on! How do I fix this?

if not, it is a hardware failure.

Two days ago my ipod completely froze. I tried to reset it but when I plugged it into my computer it said that the device has malfunctioned? ***?!? Ive tried plugging it into my laptop and my friends computers but it still says the same thing

    i have a 2nd gen nano 4GB,
my daughter has 1st gen nano 1GB.
i've been trying to reset?, restore?, get her's to work.
i charged it overnight on my iHome2go. (plugged in computer, i couldn't tell if it was charging.)
i have two USB cords for both iPods, both cords work with my (2nd gen) nano. i have reviewed all? the different steps to get her's working. i don't believe it's a computer or an iTunes prob. 2nd gen nano is charging and syncing just fine.
her screen had the apple on it before i did the reset steps. when i hit both buttons the apple disappeared. now there is nothing on the screen and no way to know if the battery is charged or if it's working at all. thanks for any help,

You can try this and see if it helps at all.

  • ITunes is saying I have to do a recovery on my iPhone 4, but doing so will restore factory settings and I'll lose photos, contacts, etc. The phone is completely frozen and I can't do anything else. Help!

I plugged my phone into my laptop this morning and it started doing an update. I walked away from my desk, came back and had an error message and a prompt saying my phone is in recovery mode and needs to be restored. But when I click "ok" to do that it says it will restore the factory settings and I'll lose all media, data and contacts. I DON'T want to do that--the whole reason I plugged my phone in this morning was to download some new photos, so I can't lose them!
The phone isn't working...it's showing a usb connector pointing to an iTunes icon.
    Help!!!

If your phone is in recovery mode, you've already lost all data on the phone...its gone. Your only option now is to restore the phone, either from backup or as a new device.

  • Mail is completely frozen and hung

cant access mail...app loads, then freezes with spinning rainbow beach ball.
I trashed entire application, then did special download from OSX startup disk and reloaded app. Then updated to 10.5...
    Problem still occurs.
    This is not good.

In your System Preferences/Accounts, create another user. Log in as that user. When you try to open mail, you'll probably have to set it up again, but if it works, you'll know that something is buggy in your main account.

  • My 4S phone has completely frozen and will not even shut down.

I was trying to open a video link, and now I just have a black screen with the spinning white circle (which is not spinning). I have tried both pressing and holding the power button to try and force a shut down (nothing happened) and pressing and holding the power and home keys to reset (still nothing).

Force your device into rebooting by holding down the Home and Sleep buttons until the Apple logo appears, then release.  Wait for your lock screen to appear.

Thanks Paulcb, I just returned from the dealer, and the problem was that somehow the touch screen disconected itself, so they are going to replace it with a new ipad. It is a Factory failure. The garantee was due until December. Thanks again for your help
So where in this whole thing was Apple NOT willing to help????
