Completely new to everything about Java

Hey Im new here. But not to programming. I understand programming in general but J2ME has be completely lost.
I have got books and books and lots of tutorials about J2ME and I still haven't even done my first application!!! Or even the software because I become lost.
Someone please tell me STEP by STEP what I must do to start programming in J2ME and what I should learn first!!! Every tutorial code I look at is too hard because I don't have the program or anything. I dunno what to do. I really want to move away from Gm6.1 because it'll lead me nowhere in life.
Please help me out. I want to learn so much!

I have got books and books and lots of tutorials about J2ME and I still haven't even done my first application!!! Or even the software because I become lost. You haven't even installed Java ME yet? Those "books and books and lots of tutorials" aren't doing you any good, then. What have you actually read?
Someone please tell me STEP by STEP That's not what we do here.
If you can't even download and install Java ME, you're beyond our help.
Find a better tutorial and go through it carefully until you have something working.

I really want to move away from Gm6.1 because it'll lead me nowhere in life. What's Gm6? Google suggests "Game Maker". That's a multi-billion dollar industry. Are you a wannabe? If not, that seems to be a pretty lucrative place to be - if you're good. What makes you think that Java ME will lead you somewhere?

Since I upgraded to firefox 8, I get this error window that pops up says something about java. My tabs flicker or flash, the tabs will close and open in a new window then everything stops. Then firefox does not respond. When I get this error message, I have to close all tabs wait a few seconds then open it back up it will work for a little while and then do the same thing. I have disabled plug-ins that I do not use, I have cleared my cache and cookies, I am not happy at all with this new version. I waited a while before updating. The first time I was going to update, firefox would not let me keep my anti-virus plug-in. PLEASE HELP

    Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.

The 2nd image doesn't seem too bad.  It's a start.
The first image though I do have comments about, the red seems to be hard enough to read on that background.  The grey "over" effect seems almost impossible to read.  Grey does not provide the contrast that you need.  You need something along the lines of a white, or lighter red, or very light grey.

  • I have a question about the new share everything plan.

    Hi,
I have a question of the cost of the new share everything plan. I looked at the options and prices for different phones. Next to smartphone it says 40 dollars, next to basic phone it says 30 dollars etc etc. Does that include the unlimited texts, and minutes? If so, how much would this plan cost for 2 smart phones and one basic phone with the unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, and 2gb of data cost per month?
    Thanks!

yeah, the line access fee (40 for smartphones, 30 for basic, etc) includes unlimited talk/text and access to the pooled data allowance. It would be $170/month before insurance and taxes and fees for the 2GB plan($60), 2 smartphones ($40*2) and a basic phone ($30)

  • New to Web Dynpro java

hi I am new to Web Dynpro java, From where should i have to start
where can i find examples and documnets on web dynpro java.
    regards

    Hi,
Web Dynpro is the SAP programming model for user interfaces (UIs).
It provides a programming framework within which you can achieve a:
u2022 Clear separation of business logic and display logic
u2022 An application specification that is both:
    Client neutral and
    Backend neutral
It consists of a runtime environment and a graphical development environment with special Web-Dynpro tools that are integrated in the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio
The Web Dynpro technology provides a development and runtime environment for Web applications and enhances classical Web development to build easily adaptable user interfaces. SAP's Web Dyn-pro technology closes significant gaps between typical Web development tools and the needs of cost-effective, responsive, easy-to-use, maintainable, and professional browser-based user interfaces for business solutions. Web Dynpro uses design principles similar to SAP's Dynpro technology, but it is a completely new technology geared exclusively towards Web applications. Its main features include the following:
    u2022 Usability
    u2022 Abstract modelling
    u2022 Personalization and customization
u2022 Separation of presentation layers and business logic
    u2022 Generic services
    u2022 Portability
Web Dynpro applications run in the SAP Enterprise Portal.

  • Need Information About Java Platform Overview For Manager (WJTB-310)

Hi, My name is Jeffry. I need information about Java Platform Overview For Manager (WJTB-310).
I need Information about table of contents, how long it takes to study that training (approximately), how many chapters are in that training, minimum Internet connection speed to access that training, and everything you know about WJTB-310.
Is there a synchronized audio in WJTB-310 ?
Is there a video streaming in WJTB-310 ?
    Can I receive a certificate for any web-based training ? especially in WJTB-310 ?
Is there a programming language material in WJTB-310 or just an overview ?
Sorry for asking to many question
    Thanks
    Jeffry Kristianto Yanuar

I thought I'd give you a response even if I can't answer your question completely. (I think we ought to start a separate thread entitled "How do you get any replies on this forum???") Here is what I have been forced to do. I introduced some JavaScript on the web page that contains the applet I want to be run. The sole purpose of the JavaScript is to detect which platform the client is on. If it's not MacIntosh, then I have JavaScript write the <object><embed> tag used by the Java plug-in. It it is MachIntosh, then I have JavaScript write the regular <applet> tag and let the Mac browsers do as best they can. With mixed and disappointing results. Netscape 6.2 crashes with a lot of applets. IE 5 brings up the applet okay but certain Swing components aren't displaying properly. The MacIntosh I've been testing on is version 9.1. I'm trying OS X tomorrow.
Why don't you send a reply to my query under the Java Plug-in Forum--from aronsz, dated 06/11/02--if you have some more info by now. I sure would appreciate it.

  • Question about Java SE Source Code

I was wondering, what is Java SE written in? Can't be Java right? Since thats like the chicken and the egg. Can't write in Java unless you have a platform to interpret Java code into byte code, but if the platform is written in Java... what is interpreting the platform? The platform can't interpret itself right?
Little confused about it ^, I didn't post in the thread about open source Java since everyones just fighting on there about how old or new the news is. To tell ya the truth, I heard about it yesterday but didn't expect it so soon. Its nice that its here, its now fully Linux friendly. :D
I might download the code and take a look at it if its written in Java.

I was wondering, what is Java SE written in? Can't be
Java right? Since thats like the chicken and the egg.
Can't write in Java unless you have a platform to
interpret Java code into byte code, but if the
platform is written in Java... what is interpreting
the platform? The platform can't interpret itself
    right?
So you write the 0.0.1 compiler and runtime in something else.
Using that you create and compile a Java version that you call 0.0.2.
You now have a compiler written in Java that can compile Java.
The runtime is a bit more complex as it needs some platform specific bootstrapping code, but most of that can be written in Java as well.
And that's no theory, it's what actually happens (and not just with Java).
Not everything is Java, but a good chunk certainly is (or can be).

I have a Power Mac G4 Mac OSX version 10.5.8. Is there a way I could update or upgrade my comptuer? Or just have to buy a completely new one?
Not sure how to really work this, I have an ipad and just trying to make everything work together as far as using icloud. As you can guess my apple G4 has been made 2004. I got this from a friend about a year ago but never bothered to update it till now, when I have an iPad 2. Just want everything to work together so I could organize every part of my life.

10.5.8 is the latest OS a Power Mac will run.

  • What to do about Java?

I just updated my old iMac(10.7.5), and it included a Java update. What should I do about Java? I have it disabled in Safari and Firefox at the moment for security reasons. So do I leave everything as is or do I need to uninstall java? Help.

    JazzmanJohn wrote:
So are you saying to ignore the latest update and leave it disabled?
If it were me I would always keep it up-to-date in case I find some day that I must enable Java to do a critical task. That would not be the time to try and figure out if it's up-to-date or not.
That being said, there are somewhere between five and eight new vulnerabilities in that latest update.
To keep track of that watch this site http://java-0day.com periodically.

  • Completely New!

    Hi all,
Im completely new to Java, and have very minimal experience in other languages.
    Im starting with Java \o/
    A few questions -
What other online resource sites are there?
    What books are good?
What fundamental mistakes should i not make?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Mark

thanks all, will take a look around and im sure i will
    have some fun :D
Markalso, when in doubt, come here and ask your question..be aware that people here have limited time to spend browsing the forums' threads and so a well written, specific thread subject increases your chances of getting a reply from the experienced guys around. When asking about an error, always post the code in question and include the exception message given by the java compiler..to post the code, I would recommend you use the [code] and  tags, especially if it's a long listing...those tags will format your code in a readable way so that people reading can easily do so...most important thing and as people have mentionned already...have fun!!! :)

  • I want to set up my time capsule on a completely new network & location without losing the old backups. How do I do this?

I want to set up my time capsule on a completely new network & location without losing the old backups. How do I do this? I cannot find anything in the user manual.

The TC is very hard to just move.. it retains too much of the old network setup.. buried deep in the bowels of the firmware configuration files.. or even on the hard disk special partitions used by the TC.. invisible to you btw.. !!
Do a factory reset and setup from scratch.
That factory reset will have no affect on your backups.. even if you rename the TC.. not a bad things since you also want clients to respond to the new network.. simply reset TM to the new TC name and location.
    See A4 here.
    http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
    Factory reset.
    The Factory Reset Gen1-4.
Unplug your TC. Hold in reset. and power the TC back on.. without releasing reset for about 10sec. When the status light flashes rapidly; release it.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
    Factory reset Gen 5
Hold in reset for about 5sec until the status light flashes quickly.
If your AirPort Time Capsule still doesn’t respond, do a similar reset to the Gen1-4.
Unplug your AirPort Time Capsule .. hold in reset and power the TC back on.. without releasing the reset.. wait until status led flashes rapidly.
