Completely wrong country showing in Find My iPad App

My (wifi only) iPad mini, bought new in a US Apple store and running latest IOS7, shows my location in Find My iPad/iPhone App as moving around the region of Granada in Spain, however I'm in the UK and have been for the last 6 months!
Moreover, I've not been to Spain recently, and never to Granada.
Wifi connection is standard UK domestic broadband via BT.
Has anyone - including Apple - any idea why this might be?
I alerted my iPad via the FindMyIpad webpage on iCloud and it bleeped, so the correct iPad is linked to the account. But naturally I am now wondering if there is a clone of my iPad in Spain.......
Have done recommended 'fixes' such as turn Airplane mode on and off, log out and back in again, etc.

Thanks for a GPS 101 and other suggestions. As posted, my iPad is wifi only and already presumed Apple's use of wifi hotspot databases for geo-location. The ipad correctly positions me on Apple maps which strongly suggests Apple's database already has the knowledge of wifi connection (similarly Google maps and other location-aware all apps correctly identify my six year old WiFi A.P.), so it was a surprise that FindMyIpad app/website insists I'm in Spain. The fixed line broadband connection behind the wifi is provided by a Brirish company, which tends to rule out network IP addresses being confused with Spain, and as it's not on a mobile network, rules out multinational mobile companies (such as O2) playing unliklely (but not unheard of) games with their IP routings or DNS,
Thanks to ouuo for your suggestion - I will try another wifi hotspot when i can locate one.
The underlying observation inherent in my question - which I would like Apple CS to answer, please - is whether there is any possibility here of MAC cloning or some other cloning/replicating going on.

It sounds like your iPad is not showing in Find my iPad when you check it. Take a look at this info from the following article named:

This can occur if:

Lost IPAD. Has passcode. Powered off and cellular off due to traveling out of country. Is there any hope of locating through Icloud account with Find my IPAD app which I had installed?

I left my IPAD on an airplane last night in the states. It has a passcode and is registered through Icloud with the Find my IPAD app. The IPAD is password protected. It was powered down and cellular data was turned off because I was travelling out of the country. Is there any chance of locating the IPAD through the Find my IPAD app since the WI-FI and cellular service is turned off? Please help.

Apple (and no one else) can not assist (with serial number or iCloud) in finding a lost or stolen iPad.
Report to police along with serial number. Change all your passwords.

Find my iPad app has located my stolen iPad it is in another country how could I go about retrieving this stolen product ?

I had my iPad stolen and find my iPad app has located it in another country is there anything I can do perhaps contact apple support in the country my iPad ended up in and would they contact police and retrieve this for me ? Surely there is something that can be done under these circumstances ?

Thank you And I am aware of apple not getting involved although I think there should be some kind of help in these matters worldwide as Apple is multi million dollar enterprise so to set up some kind of help line for reporting these issues to countries law enforcement worldwide would be in their interest to do something as this will deter people from buying their products as indeed it has myself and in a household where there are already two iPads 3 iPhones and a Mac book air I certainly will not be upgrading my products in the future. The Find My iPad app has nothing to do with actually finding your iPad. It is an app that works like the iCloud version - to locate your iPad if lost or stolen. Remember that in order for Find my iPad to work, your device must be connected to the Internet via WiFi or cellular. If the device is offline, you will not be able to locate it. Find My iPad does retain it's last know location for a short time, but if that time is expired, it will appear as offline and no location will be available. This is of course assuming you did actually activate Find My iPad. If not, there is no way to track it anyway.
If you were using iOS 7 even if they wipe the iPad, they will not be able to activate it. Not helpful to you now I know, but if you don't get it back you know they can't use it anyway.

I am sorry to hear that you lost your iPad Air 2. You will only see the last location if it has been off for less than 24 hours. Anything longer than that, it will not show up using the Find My feature. Take a look at the article below for more information.

I am also having problems adding my iPad2 to MobileMe. When I go to Find My Phone in MobileMe, the original device (iPod Touch 4th gen) still shows up, but no iPad.
So I deleted the Find My Phone app plus the account, re-downloaded the app from the App Store, and tried to set it up again. Same results.
The iPad is 64GB 3G Verizon. I also have an iPod Touch (4th gen) and a MacBook Pro.

No, there is no other way to track it. If you have a pass code set and are using iOS 7.x.x then the thieves simply have a bricked iPhone that is useless to them.

Without Find My iPad having been enabled on it then there isn't any way to locate it - and that would only work if it's connected to a network and hasn't been wiped or had Find My iPad disabled on it.
If you think that it was stolen then you should report it to the police. You should also contact your carrier and change your iTunes account password, your email account passwords, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc.
