Complex file exporting in PS CS5 Scripts

Hi All,
I've been trying to get to grips with the 'Export Layers to Files' script in Photoshop.
I am prdeominatly concerned with exporting a series of folders (or layers) to flat pngs, to form a set of screenshots.
I can get this to work well enough (if a bit slow at times) but my main issue is whether it is possible to maintain one element on each screen that is fixed and vary the content beneath it. i.e. lock a phone's status bar in its individual folder and then vary the screens below as per the folders/layers.
Any ideas?
Also do we know if Adobe are looking to improve script functionality in CS6 at all?
Cheers
Max

I have a generic Layer Saver script here...

Maybe you could modify it to suit your needs?

  • RAW files exported to PS CS5 from LR2.7 LAG DOWN CS5

I recently installed photoshop cs5 and have been using it with lightroom 2.7 and lightroom 3beta.
The other day I downloaded and installed adobe camera raw 6.1.  now every time I export a raw file into cs5 for editing, I get EXTREME levels of lag when I try to use filters like smart sharpen or surface blur.  I checked my CPU performance, and it spikes to %99 CPU usage while CS5 tries to apply a smart sharpen filter.
When I export files into cs4, I have no problems applying these filters.  They're fast and quick.
When I directly import a raw file into CS5 using photoshops raw converter, I dont experience this lag running filters at all.
So i'm concluding that the ACR6.1 update is somehow incompatible with lightroom 2.7 when used in conjunction with photoshop cs5.
    can someone please help!?
I use lightroom exclusively for my photography workflow.

    I suppose that would help...
    thanks for the response:
    2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    16 GB 1066 MHz DDR3
    Crucial 120GB SSD
scratch disks 1TB  7200rpm, 3 x 300GB 10,000rpm raptor drives (I store my raw files and edit them from this drive)--it's a raid 0 array
i'm running lightroom 2.7, as well as lightroom 3beta
photoshop cs5 running in 64bit mode.
the RAW files are canon raw .CRW  files from a 5D mark II, approximately 22MB.
i'm exporting them at 300DPI into cs5 from lightroom.  I'm letting lightroom do the converting.
with ACR6.1 installed, any raw or tiff file i export from lightroom into cs5 causing cs5 to lag down in general, and experience extreme lag when i apply filters like smart sharpen and surface blur---under the utility manager, it appears that the CPU is at %99 usage when these filters are being applied--hence the lag.
I reintalled cs5, but didn't install acr6.1 this time.  the problem has been solved, at least as far as I can tell.
so my conclusion is that ACR6.1 doesn't work with lightroom.

  • File size of .swf files exported from Indesign CS5

I have made a basic file (728 x 90 px) in Indesign, which is the size of banner ads we produce. I have not put on any effect or animation yet. When I export it as a swf file, the file size is 139kb. This is way too large for any banner advertising on websites where the highest is normally 100px and the smallest is 30kb.
I have tried exporting at a lower resolution, but it has no effect on the file size, rendering this useless as a flash export option for me.
Is there something I'm missing or is Indesign just not the right tool for flash banner ads.
    Thanks

    Mr Met
    {swf file that's 13MB. What are your images, 200MB each?}
As I said, I resampled the images to be 500px wide so each PShop image is about 1.4mb (single layer). There are 12 images used.
Here it is if you care to see i t- 11mb so it will take time to load

No doubt you are a 100% right here.
But I think it is a bit disingenious to blame the InDesign user for the feature. It would be like Abobe putting Drop Shadows and transparences into ID and then saying you should use PhotoShop to for that feature!

  • My PDF file appears to be too large/complex to export. Can I split it in some way?

My PDF file appears to be too large/complex to export. Can I split it in some way?

    Good day Colin,
In order to split a PDF file, you'll need to use Adobe Acrobat.
You may want to try turning off the 'Recognize text' option and converting your file again, it may help.
    Kind regards,

  • Cannot open file exported from CS5 as .idml into CC2014.

I'm trying to open a file created in InDesign CS5 in the newest CC version of InDesign.
It is a large (2GB) file comprised entirely of placed images.
I found a thread that suggested exporting as idml.
I did export from CS5 as idml which made the file size a mere 195 MB.
When I tried to open it in CC2014 I got the error message:
Cannot open the file "name.indd"  Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in
that supports the file format may be missing, or the file may be open in another application.
I had quit from CS5 before attempting to open the file in CC2014.
I had thought that exporting as .idml would change the file type suffix from
.indd to .idml but I'm not in the weeds enough to be sure about that.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance.
    Roger

I had thought it might be.
I preserved my original (created in CS5) and saved a copy
to try it in CC 2014. The copy wouldn't open in CC.
I deleted this copy and tried again with a new copy
Tried to open in CC - no go.
Opened the new copy in CS5 - no problem.
If the file were corrupt, would it still open in CS5, or is this
    a forward compatibility issue?

  • CS5 cannot open .idml file exported from CS6

I've seen this question before from people having problems with other versions of InDesign. I, too, am having an issue with plug-ins that do not allow me to open an idml file. I downloaded the script that verifies the version used to create the idml to be sure it really was made from CS6, not CS5.5. It's not an empty file as it is 3.3mb Interestingly, when the customer packaged the file it came up with no links. It's a 32-page document with lots of photos, graphics, etc. How it is possible that it would not have any links? Any suggestions short of having to upgrade to CS6 would be helpful. Thank you.

    Hi Peter,
I'm guessing it might have been a network corruption problem. She brought in her laptop, we made another .idml file and loaded it to a USB stick, then transferred it to my computer. The file opened just fine. And yes, she had pasted all her images, so we have her collecting the bits and pieces for me to review and relink everything. I believe I have the patch, but will double-check. Thanks!

  • Just paid $23.88, but my file couldn't be converted. "12345_2014.pdf" failed to export to docx. The file is either too large or too complex to export.

    what could I do?

    Hi Karl_ma.
I'm sorry that the file didn't convert for you. How large is the file you're trying to convert? There's a 100MB file-size limit. Overly complex files that fall within this limit may not convert, depending on your upload speed and so on.
You can try converting with OCR disabled as outlined in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition, which will simplify the conversion process.
Please let us know how it goes.
    Best,
    Sara

  • Export problems in CS5

hello, I recently switched to flash cs5,  I'm working on character animations, my problem is everytime I do a quicktime export, the movie generates these unwanted fragments,  like it skips frames and leave's fragments of the graphics on the movie,
does anyone here knows, how I can fix this? I also have problems with the audio upon export, they don't sync, even if  I had it set to stream on my workspace. - everytime I do the export it mess things up

I'm really disappointed with Flash CS5, at least when it comes to trying to export in quicktime format. I have a very simple animation I've been working on that runs about 66 seconds. Very simple and minimal animation. The swf file exports flawlessly every time. The quicktime movie NEVER exports right. In fact, it exports totally randomly in terms of what it'll screw up. A word might be missing from a speech ballon in one scene, but if I export it again without making a single change to the file, it'll be there while another word in another speech balloon is missing. Or it'll screw up a simple animation like an eye blinking. I can export the file a dozen times without making a single revision to the fla file, and I'll get a dozen completely different flawed quicktime movies, ranging in severity from one dropped word to total chaos; several dropped frames, scenes overlapping each other, botched animation and artifacts everywhere. It's a total toss of the dice every time.
I have a 3.33GHz 6-core Xeon MacPro with 24GB of RAM running OS 10.6.5. The only open app is Flash when I try to export. I have a hard time believing the system is taxed with this 66 second simple animation file. I regularly work with photoshop files that exceed 1GB and experience no hang ups with running multiple apps while doing so.
I visited the tech note that was suggested and tried all of the "solutiions" but nothing has worked. Changing to action script 3, eleminiatng audio, etc., etc. (The custom command script was a disaster.) And seriously, doesn't it raise any flags when I have to go back and use another app to add my audio back in, or change my frame rate after export? I never experienced these problems in CS3. Sadly, I can't even save the file from CS5 to CS3 format, becuase for some reason CS4 is the oldest option available to me. I've wasted HOURS simply trying to export a file that should have taking two hours tops from start to finish. The budget was out the window long ago.
If anyone has any suggestions as to what else I might try, or a recommendation of a stand alone application for Mac that can convert a swf file into quicktime or other movie formats, I'd appreciate the input.

  • EMail Link in SWF exported from InD CS5 does not work

I'm trying to find a definitive answer on this. I have designed an interactive document in InD CS5 that has buttons and hyperlinks. When exported to SWF everything works except my e-mail hyperlink. It works fine in InDesign's preview pane. I've uploaded the file to my webserver for testing, the problem still occurs.
I found one post in another forum that quoted an Adobe InD developer stating that as of CS4 email links were not exported. However, I've not been able to find any mention of whether this works in CS5 or not.
Does anybody know for sure whether or not email links work in SWF files exported from CS5?

Sorry, no offense was intended. I had found references to problems with CS4, but nothing about CS5, and said as much in my post -- was frustrated that I had spent a long time looking and hadn't found any responses yet.
You mentioned using buttons rather than hyperlinks, and that worked for me -- but it might have just been a problem with my browser not properly reloading the flash file, too -- as I mentioned in my response.
But in any case, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUGGESTION!

  • Can you open a file in PS & run a script from LR?

So one of my commercial clients wants their product files in a variety of formats, including PNG with transparency. I'd love to be able to provide them with this from LR, but you can't export as a PNG. So I've written a script which takes the active document in PS, turns off the relevant layers, converts to sRGB, and saves as a PNG. Is there any way for me to invoke this script from LR, as I am opening the document? Ideally, I'd like to include it in the "Edit in" menu, as a menu item which would invoke PS and run the script. That way I could simply select the images, and get them processing while I do something else. Or do I have to open all the files and then run the script on all the open files?

    99jon (à Johannes de Vilder) il y a 2 mois
Images are automatically saved back to the LR library but you need to follow a logical sequence for LR to render the export copy. You need to start the round trip from LR as follows and use the save command (Ctrl+S) not save as:
    1) Ctrl+E in the Library to export selected image with develop settings (I choose PSD but tiff is also available in the prefs)
    2) Edit in Photoshop; then Ctrl+S to replace (overwrite) Lightroom export copy
    3) Ctrl+W to close in Photoshop and update Lightroom thumbnail. The saved copy is usually stacked next to the original so don't worry about XMP.
    On Mac OSX Cmd+E; Cmd+S; Cmd+W

  • Problem with Exporting from Bridge CS5 to Social Media sites

    Hi Adobe users,
I'm a new French user of CS5 Bridge. My question is :
Is it possible for me to export pictures from Bridge to Social Media Sites like Facebook & Flickr ?
This topic (http://www.tipsquirrel.com/exporting-from-bridge-cs5-to-social-media-sites/) introduce me to exporting files but I haven't got the modules who were necessary for exporting. After, I do a Check For Update, without results. So I have another question :
What are the steps in order to have the necessary modules ?
    Thanks Julien BARREAU
    Sorry for my bad english.

You can't. The export module (btw gone in Bridge CC) has never worked properly for all social media. The reason they gave was due to rights management in different countries. It only worked in a few countries for Facebook.

  • Mac Projector Crashes When exported From Flash CS5.5

Something strange that i noticed, when i had exported a presentation for a Mac,
    on a 64 bit windows 7 using flash cs5.5.
the applicaton gets the paths of a few swfs from an XML file
and loads them one after the other.. there is a small bit of interactivity.
.. tested this projecter on various versions of MAC, it crashes often, crashes earlier if i switch applications.  what follows here is a part of a report that was generated on an  OS X 10.7.3,
works fine if the projector is exported from flash cs5.
i need it to work when exported from flash cs5.5.. any suggestions on what i need to change in my application so that it works when exported from flash cs5.5?
Your help would be appreciated Thanks in Advance

Looks like it was a memory problem with the jvm.ini file.
Pumped it up to 256 and it works now.
Hope this helps anyone else in the future if they come across it.
    Thanks.

  • How do I convert a file into inx with cs5.5?

    Hello,
How do I convert a file in indesign cs5.5 into the interchange format?
    Thanks for your answers

A complete review can be found here, but basically, you can't. CS4 was the last version that was able to generate INX - the format was replaced with IDML. You must export IDML with CS5.5, open that IDML in CS4, then export INX from CS4.
Why do you need INX? If it's for someone with CS3, then that person may not get a useable file, if any features introduced after CS3 were used in the CS5.5 document.

  • File created in InDesign CS5.5 appears blank in InDesign CC.

When I open a file originally created in CS5.5, the pages appear blank. Moving my mouse over the page boxes highlight, showing that the original elements are still there but not showing. Links and text are there but do not show unless zoomed out to 25%, but disappear again once zoomed back to full screen. What's the fix for this?

Try exporting to IDML, preferably from the original version. See Remove minor corruption by exporting
