Complex formatting of selectItems

Hi,
I am quite new to JSF and am struggling with follwoing issue:
I want to to format a radio list where each item does not only show a text but also some kind of additional information, e.g. an image. Using the f:selectItems together with an SelectItem list I can only display simple text as the item's label.
Is there a simple way to "enrich" the display of the items of a radio list, e.g. with some kind of outputFormat or do I have to use a custom tag/renderer? It seems to me quite complex to implement custom tags/renderers for that simple issue!? However, I the custom tag version should be the only possibility, can someone provide me with some snippets!?
Thanks in advance,
florimodo

Sure, but I cannot use <h:selectOneListbox> or <f:selectItems> inside a panelGrid!?
What I would like to have is something like this
<f:selectItems value="#{CompanyBean.allFunctions}">
   <h:outputText value="some additional info" />
</f:selectItem>which apparently is not possible.
What I want to do, is a radio button list where each radio button is not only labeled with text, but also with an image!

  • How do I use Dreamweaver CC 2014.1 Live View to copy complex formatted text into web page?

    Since Design View has been removed from Fluid Grid Layouts, and could be removed completely in next upgrade, I cannot use Live View to place complex text into my web pages.
    Our business requires the listing of complex job descriptions on our web pages.  Design View worked fine, Live View does not. Both examples are noted below.

    Obviously, as seen above, I'm doing something wrong or Live View does not do all the functions that Design View use to do.  I realize I can still access Design View in non-Fluid Grid Layout documents and that is my current work-around.  I copy from my Word file into Design View available in non-Fluid, then copy that code into my Fluid Grid Layout document, not real efficient use of my time.  And, even that work-around may not be available after the next upgrade.

    Hans thank you for your reply and attention to this matter.  Moreover, with your steeped expertise I do not, in any fashion, intend to be flippant or capricious.
    However, I do not believe the reply is on point since I'm not discussing the insertion of an HTML tag/element; but rather, the placing of complex formatted text into my various web pages.
    Design View and  2014.1 Live View seem to serve different functions.  That is, Design View, for us, serves as a highly sophisticated HTML5 code generator that allows us to properly display complex formatted text that originally is created as a Word docx file.  As I noted in my original post, the complex formatted text from the Word file is then pasted into Design View and thus properly renders on the web page.  I invite you to try this yourself.  Simply copy my properly formatted text in my original post (that can be found at "Using Design View the web page rendered this way:") to a Word file, and it will retain the complex formatting, then copy that Word file text to both Design View and  2014.1 Live View files.  Please apprise me of your results.
    Discussion has been had in at least two separate threads on the Design View disappearance in Fluid Grid.  In https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1597260 staff member Lalita wrote "It would be helpful for us if you list the issues you are seeing with fluid grid live view editing."  And in https://forums.adobe.com/message/6807088#6807088 staff member Subhadeep wrote "If you can list down the workflows you are trying while editing in Live View & the issues you are facing in doing so, it will help us understand what is amiss & suggest alternative workflows to do the same."  I believe I've pointed out issues when attempting to use Live View for functions or work flow that customarily had been done in Design View.
    Being a CC subscriber, if someone can provide me with a workflow using other additional Adobe products to get my complex formatted text from Word ultimately to my Dreamweaver web page, be it an image insert or whatever, I would take the suggestions.
    The difference in the coding of my example in my original post is as follows.

    It is readily apparent that Design View is a much needed code generator in the Dreamweaver product.  Live View serves completely other, and needed, purposes.  Therefore, I still, after all the forum discussions, do not understand why Design View has been removed from Fluid Grid.
    Again Hans thank you for your reply.  But unless I'm missing something, citation to the links you provided does not solve my problem.  And that problem is this: If Design View is on its way out and thus will be completely removed from Dreamweaver at some point, then how do I provide my information (i.e. complex executive job descriptions) on my website?
    Apparently a vote is taking place https://forums.adobe.com/ideas/3922 on the issue of placing Design View back into Fluid Grid.  I do not understand why the need for two rather disjunctive functionalities are at the mercy of the democratic process.  These are matters of engineering principles not "town hall gatherings".

  • Complex formating in a form letter

    I need to build a report that will:
    1. choose one of several letters based upon the data in a table (for example, one person gets a thank you for your interest in product A and the next gets a thank you for your interest in product B).
    2. handle complex text with a lot of formating - underlining, font changes etc.
    Can anyone recommend a reference or just point me down the road?

    1. u can use decode ..
    for ex
    select decode(x,'A','thank u for ur intererst in A','B','Thank u for ur interest in B') from table_name

  • Complex formated Text from Databse to textmember

    Hello Forum,
    I try to save a complex rtf formated text field into a field
    of a database, called Valentina. But after writing the text back to
    the text field, all formatings of the text are overwritten. So I
    tried to save the rft-format sequences to the databease, too. But
    now they appear in the text field, too. Is it basically possible to
    save the text with all his attributes into the database and write
    it back to the text field?
    Best regards
    Alexander

    Hello Udo,
    thanks a lot for your help. I tested it yesterday evening
    first without Valentina. It works fine. The main problem was that I
    mixed .rtf with .text or .value, too. So the rft format appeared in
    the text member. My last programming jobs with director is about
    seven years ago, except the small part, two years ago. My next step
    will be the test with Valentina.
    Best regards from Fulda

  • Complex number formats in graphs

    Hi,
    At the moment I try to figure out, if the following is possible or not at all.
    I have a numeric object which holds a number of seconds. For each day (date) there is such an object.
    So, I just want to create a graph showing the days (x-axis) and the respective seconds (y-axis). So far, no problem at all.
    But, for readability it is necessary to show the seconds in a more suitable way - namely as minutes and seconds [mm:ss].
    Now, I could easily transform the seconds (number) into something like 'mm:ss' using an additional variable - which must be text then. Such text cannot be used as values for the y-axis.
    So, I tried to create a user defined format for the output in the graph, but I couldn't find any way to define such a complex format which allows me to show mm:ss as values for the x-axis.
    Just an example graph...
    01:00-|----
    00:50-|----
    00:40-|---||-----
              01.01.2010  02.01.2010
    Does anybody know, if or how this idea could be implemented through any means of the Webi and/or Designer? Simply displaying seconds is not accepted by the management.
    Many thanks for any hint
    Matthias

    Hi,
    You have to create measure to convert time diff in sec to HH:MM:SS format.
    Measure1 = Time diff in seconds
    Hours = Measure1/ 3600
    Minutes = (Measure1 - hour*3600) / 60
    Seconds = (Measure1 - hour3600 - Minutes60)
    Concatinate all three measure created above and you will have the measure you wanted.
    Hope this will help you.
    Cheers,
    Ravichandra K

    Hi,
    Not sure where you when/where you getting that message but I can tell you that the wizard can help you to a certain point, for more complex translations do the best you can with the wizard and then go to edit the XSD source.
    This document has plenty of samples...

    I'm creating about 20 tables that have the same complex formatting: row stroke widths, color of strokes, fills, etc. Would like to import the data (from Word tables originally created in excel) . Is there a way to import data without recreating each an every table I import into InDesign?
    I suggested a "table style" to Adobe several months ago; that would be the ideal solution. What can I use now?

    Cherie,
    I have posted a script (it's actually in message 26 of the long topic on pasting unformatted text) that will import the clipboard contents into part of an existing table in such a way that the new contents retains the old formatting.
    You can find the script here:
    Populate Table From Clipboard along with a description of how to use it.
    Basically, you:
    1. Open your Excel worksheet
    2. Copy and paste the range of cells you want to update to the clipboard
    3. Switch to your InDesign document and click in the top left cell where you want the updated data to start.
    4. Run the script.
    The new data replaces the old using the formatting of the old (provided that you have used only paragraph styles to do that formatting: any use of character styles within the cells will be lost).
    Hope this helps.

  • Answers access with Java (to enable more complex reports)?

    Hello and thanks for reading,
    I was wondering if there is a possibility to access BI Answers with Java (or an other procedural language) in order to realize more complex reports than what is possible with the graphical user interface.
    Is there an alternative way to access BI Answers in order to build reports, which provides one with a great flexibility in report design?
    Thanks for ideas
    Evgeny

    Are you trying to build more complex reports in OBIEE?
    If you need to customize the obiee you can do by editing the html files in BI server and data folders. You can add ur own html code and tags there. Also to achive more complex formating you can use OBIEE Publisher that will let you to create your own rtf or pdf templates and upload it to the dashboards
    Hope it helps

  • SWIFT Format ( MT940 )  to XML

    I need to convert SWIFT format  to XML using B2B Add on  . Can any one help me if there is any Std Module available in B2B Add-on for this conversion .

    Hi Mithali,
    I know this might seem a bit strange, but the way I've solved this previously is to utilize the standard functionality in SAP ECC. This is due to the fact that MT940 is a quite complex format as also mentioned by Stephan Hilpp.
    In our solution I get the MT940 from the bank and split up the file into individual files based on the accounts and dates in the file. The files are then transferred to a file system, which SAP ECC has access to, and by means of a custom report, we are uploading the relevant files to SAP using TCode FF_5.
    Our rationale for this solution was to not re-invent the wheel for something that is already supported and maintained by SAP.
    For inspiration please refer to Electronic Bank Statement-MT940 Format
    Best regards,
    Jacob

  • How to Generate Complex Files

    Hi,
    I have created plain text files using Java before, but I have been asked if I can generate a Word-like file from an application that has images and complex formatting (different fonts, sizes, images, tables, etc.).
    Is this even possible? Can you point me to some resources?
    Thanks!

    What I mean by "Word-like" is that we have been asked to programattically generate a fax form that is currently created manually in Word from a template. The form has some standard text that never changes, dynamic field values that do change, tables, text formatting etc. and an image (logo). We need to be able to print the file.

  • Question for SelectItem

    Hi, everybody
    I've got a question, for example, I have a table PERSON in database, there are the names, I need take all this names with the format of SelectItem in jsf page, then I select one of this name to get id person, then i store in another table like student?
    How can it work, anybody has an idea?
    Nicos.

    I found there is another question. If I need acces to
    a database, in your class, I can not find where is the
    request, like SELECT * FROM...WHERE...

    Instead of
    public static final String SITE_SELECT = "select id, name from Site";
    I wrote
    public class Site {
        public static final String select =
            "select id, name from Site";
      }And using "SQLView.Site.select" seems more appropriate especially if you need beside "select" also "insert", "delete", "update" on the same table.
    Look here:
    SQLView.Site.insert, SQLView.Site.update, SQLView.Site.delete.
    Don't forget about field names.
    I think it's good idea to use one class like SQLView per database because exist so many connections between different tables in same database.
    I show whole SQLView class just for demonstration that so much SQL constants you will have to provide in application in case if you don't use some kind of java database related framework.
    And we need the way to reduce difficalties of using SQL Statements in our java applications.

  • Using a byte[] as a secondary index's key within the Collection's API

    I am using JE 4.1.7 and its Collections API. Overall I am very satisfied with the ease of using JE within our applications. (I need to know more about maintenance, however!) My problem is that I wanted a secondary index with a byte[] key. The key contains the 16 bytes of an MD5 hash. However, while the code compiles without error when it runs JE tell me
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: ONE_TO_ONE and MANY_TO_ONE keys must not have an array or Collection type: example.MyRecord.hash
    See test code below. I read the docs again and found that the only "complex" formats that are acceptable are String and BigInteger. For now I am using String instead of byte[] but I would much rather use the smaller byte[]. Is it possible to trick JE into using the byte[]? (Which we know it is using internally.)

    SecondaryIndex<byte[], Long, MyRecord> hashToMyRecordIndex = myRecordEntityStore.getSecondaryIndex(idToMyRecordIndex, byte[].class, "byHash");
    // END

    We have highly variable length data that we wish to use as keys. To avoid massive index sizes and slow key lookup we are using MD5 hashes (or something more collision resistant should we need it). (Note that I am making assumptions about key size and its relation to index size that may well inaccurate.)Thanks for explaining, that makes sense.
    It would be the whole field. (I did consider using my own key data design using the @Persistent and @KeyField annotations to place the MD5 hash into two longs. I abandoned that effort because I assumed (again) that lookup with a custom key design would slower than the built-in String key implementation.)A composite key class with several long or int fields will not be slower than a single String field, and will probably result in a smaller key since the UTF-8 encoding is avoided. Since the byte array is fixed size (I didn't realize that earlier), this is the best approach.

    For your second issue, you didn't display TextFlow before you selected the Text.  I also changed the FontWeight.BOLD to "bold" in order to pass compilation.  The code below should work:

  • Can af:selectOneRadio initial selection be set to values from view object?

    Using JDeveloper 11.1.1.4
    Hi all. I have a selectOneRadio on a data entry page which works well. Now I want to (if possible) use the selectOneRadio on an edit page--setting the choice initially to the values that were stored in a database table's record (from the data entry page). I am able to retrieve the data selected in the data entry page, but I can't find anything referencing what I want to do on the edit page. Note that my selectOneRadio objects are actually on jsff's in a region on a page. I've supplied how I designed selectOneRadio on the data entry page in hopes that someone can gleen from it and tell me how to set one up on the edit page and set its initial value to the value combination stored.
    There are two columns in the data displayed (example):
    Short Format / Text
    Short Format / Comma Delimited
    Long Format / Text
            <af:selectOneRadio value="#{bindings.Pay_File_Data_FmtVO1.inputValue}"
                               shortDesc="#{bindings.Pay_File_Data_FmtVO1.hints.tooltip}" id="sor1"
                               inlineStyle="text-align:left; font-size:2.0em;"
                               autoSubmit="true" showRequired="false" label="File Format">
              <f:selectItems value="#{bindings.Pay_File_Data_FmtVO1.items}" id="si111"/>
            </af:selectOneRadio>
    public class FileTypesBean {
        String fileFormat = null;
        String dataFormat = null;
        public BindingContainer getBindings() {
            return BindingContext.getCurrent().getCurrentBindingsEntry();
        public void getFileTypesSelection(ActionEvent actionEvent) {
            fileFormat =
                    (String)resolveExpression("#{bindings.Pay_File_Data_FmtVO1.attributeValue}");
            dataFormat =
                    (String)resolveExpression("#{bindings.Pay_File_Data_FmtVO1.attributeValues[1]}");
            //System.out.println("dataFormat = " + dataFormat);
            // now put in ParamsBean for use
            AdfFacesContext afci = AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
            ParamsBean params =(ParamsBean)afci.getPageFlowScope().get("paramsBean") ;
            params.setFileTypeParam(fileFormat);
            params.setFileDataTypeParam(dataFormat);
        public Object resolveExpression(String el) {
            FacesContext facesContext = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
            ELContext elContext = facesContext.getELContext();
            ExpressionFactory expressionFactory =
                facesContext.getApplication().getExpressionFactory();
            ValueExpression valueExp =
                expressionFactory.createValueExpression(elContext, el,
                                                        Object.class);
            return valueExp.getValue(elContext);
    }Thanks in advance,
    Troy

    in the amimpl have an edit method, get the value you want to set and set that value for your af:selectOneRadio, row.setAttribute(PayFileDataFmtVO1, value);

  • Change of Layout/Look and Feel in BI 7 Reports.

    Hi,
    This is Prem from NetWeaver Portals.
    Currently we have a couple of BI 7.0 reports integrated into portal.
    We have also used Portal Themes to alter the Look and Feel of the BI reports with respect to Heading colors, alternate row colors etc. But the scope of changing the Look and feel of BI reports from the Portal theme is very limited.
    Is there a way to modify it further from BI's CSS?
    Where is this functionality provided in SAP BI 7.0?
    We are also interested in changing the Layout of the reports in BI. i.e. unlike the standard BI format of reports as generated from the Web Application designer, we would like to change the layout as well.
    How is this layout change carried out? Web Templates?
    Kindly spell out a solution for me as I'm not aware of BI
    Thanks and Regards,
    Prem

    Could yo please explain little detial. how do you changed the look and feel of reports through the portal themes. We are trying to change the colors of the execptions and text box and some more.  we have created a custom theme  in which we changed the  complex formatted table  crictal, bad, good colors. when we assigned this theme through personalization to the user, custom theme colors are not seen in the BW report.
    Please let us know
    thanks and regards
