Complex validation rules

Experts,
I want to do validation check for this screen http://www.2shared.com/photo/hRS0k6yI/validation_check.html.
The use case is :
Basically if one of the checkbox is selected, the user need to select the radio button under it or enter some value in the text box below it.
At a time user can only select one check box and 1 radio button below it or enter something in the text box below it.
If what the user is looking for is not available in the checkbox option, he can enter something in the "Others - Text area- extreme right" - but he cannot select any checkbox/radio button in that case
Can someone please tell me how to achieve this validation ?
is there any way to do this other than writing ifs condition..
Jdev 11.1.1.5
thnks

Hi,
There is no way to write validation for your case without using if-else condition as your case deals with so many conditions and needs different messages to be thrown based on particular case.
What is the issue with writing if conditions?

  • Complex "validation rule" using Java Bean code

    Hi,
I have never used validation rules with jdeveloper, but i need a complex validation rule of one column of my table.
Can i put a "validation rule" on an attibute of a view object, or on a column of a table, that use Bean code ?
My column must contain different values depending of the other columns of the table, so i think i can't do this without java code...
I tried to doubleClick on the column to create a validator, but I have put a "Print" inside, and seen that it is executes lots of times, but I want to execute the validation only when the value of the column change !
How can I do this ? What do i need to use ?

Sorry vinod_t_krishnan i am good with java but i don't know how to use well EL Expressions so I did not try your method...

  • SEM BCS - Complex Selection vs Single Value in Validation Rule

    Hi,
in validation rule, after "create selection condition" , I add "ITEM" Characteristic.
I need to enter item from 10000000 to 19999999 so I change the selection options  <b>from single value to complex selection</b>. But no place to enter the interval, it only show up the field for enter single value.
    What should i do?
    Thanks.

Actually, since of 'intuitive design' of SAP ;=)))) newbies, when they arrive to creation/editing of selection condition, don't expect that along with the possibility of entering one single value in 'Selection Condition', a new subframe 'Single Selection' is appeared below the selection condition (in case of complex selection). It's simply not seen. You have to scroll the frame down to see it. Here you have a lot of possibilities to choose restrictions: ranges, hierarchy nodes etc.

  • Defining complex validations for flex items

    Hi,
We've defined a flex regions and a number of flex items. We would like to define more complex validation logic at the entity object level, whereby we'd like to reference both 'fixed' entity attribute values as well as values of the flex items.
Could you please indicate how this can be achieved in the validateEntity method of the EntityImpl.java class.
We know beforehand which flex items will be displayed based on the value of one of the fixed entity attributes (e.g. if the attribute request_type='assist' then display flex items A and B, if request_type='info' then display flex items D, E and F). We use flex items because the number of request_types and corresponding 'dynamic' attributes is too large (and subject to frequent additions, deletions or modifications) to incorporate in a fixed static db table structure.
If you can suggest alternatives to using JHeadstart flex items, these are more than welcome, of course.
    Many thanks beforehand,
    Ibrahim

    Dear Steven,
First of all many many thanks for your prompt reply. We can use JSF EL expressions to conditionally render flex items. I'd like to illustrate my question with a simple example:
We have three fixed entity attributes displayed:
    RequestType
    Birthday
    Sex
and two flex items (rendered at runtime for a specific runtime value of RequestType):
    Smoker (Y/N)
    Weight
Before saving the record I'd like to check a number of validation business rules that depend on the fixed entity attributes as well as the two flex items being displayed.
Consequently, I'd need to be able to access the flex item values provided by the user, inside my validateEntity method (right ?).
I can define simple validations for the flex items, but I can only access the flex item value and possibly the DependsOnItemValue.
PS: When I define a flex item of type 'inputtext' and try to access its value using a bind variable in the validation query of the flex item e.g.
    :ItemValue = 'blabla'
Suppose the user fills in the value Abracadabra, the validation logic substitutes as follows:
Abracadabra = 'blabla' (which generates an Oracle error). I'd expect the following substitution to take place:
    'Abracadabra' = 'blabla'

  • Complex expression rules for customizable groups not working

    Hello Community,
we have recently installed Cisco Prime 4.1 (running on Windows server 2008 R2 Standard  - 64bit Operating System).
Our main buildings are connected via Gigabit Interfaces, so I wanted to change the threshold in Fault Monitor only for those devices and those interfaces, to be something different than the default value (40%).
    My regular expression is this:
    (Interfaces.SystemName contains "Sw-AM-C6509" AND
    Interfaces.Description contains "GigabitEthernet9/23")  OR
    (Interfaces.SystemName contains "Sw-KK-C6509"  AND
    Interfaces.Description contains "GigabitEthernet1/23")  OR
    (Interfaces.SystemName contains "Sw-MK-C6509"  AND
    Interfaces.Description contains "GigabitEthernet1/23")
When I try to "Check Syntax" I get an error message:
You have entered an invalid rule. Enter a valid rule. See the
    Help
    for examples of valid rules
I also found the following thread "https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/646043#646043" that provided an example, but I got the same error message, when I tried to run the example.
In my regular expression if I only type:
    Interfaces.SystemName contains "Sw-AM-C6509" AND Interfaces.Description contains "GigabitEthernet9/23"
without any brackets and the like it seems to pass the syntax check.
Any help will be highly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance,
    Katerina

    Hello Community,
https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/646043#646043 mentions a bug that should have been removed on LMS2.6 but was still persistent. It states that:
when defining complex rules you have to use the complete Object ID  (this info is available in the User Guide but wasn't described in DFM  On-line help), which is different for each application.
    :Campus:OGS:Device
    :DFM:VASA:DFMObject
    :CMF:DCR:Device
    :RME:INVENTORY:Device
I would have thought that if this was actually a bug it should have been removed in the newest version of LMS4.1, but from what I understand it must still be there. I couldn't find anything relevent in the Administration of Cisco Prime LMS 4.1 document.
In order to fix my problem I used the following syntax, which seems to pass the syntax check.
    :DFM:VASA:DFMObject:Interfaces.SystemName contains "6509" AND
    (:DFM:VASA:DFMObject:Interfaces.Description contains "1/23" OR
    :DFM:VASA:DFMObject:Interfaces.Description contains "9/23")
It does get the job done, but this isn't exactly what I wanted.
I hope that someone can update this post and verify that this is the correct way to go.

    Hi,
Your error message are not displaying because u does not made Message-Resoucrce property file (Resource Bundle) when you make it .
    give it entry in
    struts-config.xml
    <message-resources parameter="ApplicationResources" />
    and
define key and corresponding error message to key in this ApplicationResources i.e
    #Error Resources
    label.search.ssNum=Plz Enter correct ssNum

i m using ADF. i ve a form that contains input text that is binded to a managed bean property.
that input text value is inserted into an entity attribute.the attribute in the entity has a validation rule.
i submit the form and in my managed bean i call
    am.getDBTransaction().commit();
i want when i submit the form and the when the commit is called and throws exception regarding the validation rule,i want to show an error note window same style like this http://oi50.tinypic.com/15fhnpt.jpg
how can i do that ?
    thanks in advance :)

    Hi,
i submit the form and in my managed bean i call
am.getDBTransaction().commit();A strict NO NO for doing this. You add the commit action to the binding and call the execute the commit operation binding programatically.
i m using ADF.ADF is vast. Be specific on the technologies you use (ADF BC and ADF Faces?)
that input text value is inserted into an entity attribute.the attribute in the entity has a validation rule. Are you doing something special with the binding you have in bean? If not, why don't you Drag and Drop the VO from the data control directly? (set the af:messages tag to have inline=true).

    Hi Experts

    Hi samatha b
Thanks for your response. I have done as you said and now i can rise the exception.

  • How do you create custom validation rule in WS 9.2?!?!?!

    Hello,
I am using Workshop 9.2. I created a page flow, and want to do some form validations.
I saw the simple 9.2 example, but it is only good for very basic validation, what if you have to validate the form field against a database, must you write a custom validation rule? HOW would you do this in 9.2 so that will still stay with the workshop/netui paradigm?
    http://beehive.apache.org/docs/1.0.1/netui/validation.html
    Keith

    Hi Keith,
Staying within the declarative validation framework the answer is probably that you do need to write a custom validation rule and refer to it using the @Jpf.ValidateCustomRule annotation.
The NetUI Annotation Reference shows how the Struts validations are supported via the framework.
    http://beehive.apache.org/docs/1.0.1/netui/annotations/pageflow_annotations.html
Specifically, if you look through the @Jpf.Validate* annotations, while most of these are "canned" common validations, there are a few that are more open-ended, such as @Jpf.ValidateMask and @Jpf.ValidateValidWhen.
Those two let you write the validation logic in the annotation while @Jpf.ValidateCustomeRule only refers to a custom rule in the struts validator file.
In any case, there is a validation rule editor which should help in authoring and managing the annotations. In the Page Flow Explorer or Page Flow Editor just right click on the action or form bean bean of interest and choose Validation Rules and the appropriate scope.
I hope that's of some use,
    Troy

  • Validation rule for Payment tax code

    Hi
I have a requirement in which we have assigned both the invoice and payment with holding tax codes. However, at the time of booking vendor invoice through MIRO/F-43/FB60 , the user has to remove the payment with holding tax code manually. We have written a validation rule in which the prerequisite is that if the t code is F-43/MIRO/FB60 system should check if there is a invoice tax code. If the prerequisite is met and check failed system should give error message. However, our issue is that even after the payment tax code is removed, system is not allowing to save the invoice. The second issue is that the system is also giving an error if there is no tds tax types assigned to the vendor

  • Validation Rule for Accounting Document type

    Hello Experts
I have an requirement  to block certain accounting doc type to get vendor line item post in that. For that I tried to block direct through OBA7 but not be able to also can't delete number range as it is shared by another doc type. My last option is Validation rule but i never work on this ,so any suggest how to create validation rule " To Block Accounting Doc type SO THAT THERE WILL NOT BE ANY line item posting occur in that doc type.
    Regards.

ok sure.  OB28 callpoint 1.  Create a step under this callpoint.
    1)  Prerequisite is as follows:  note XXXX is your company code and ZZ is your doc type.
    BKPF-BUKRS = 'XXXX' AND
    BKPF-BLART = 'ZZ'
    2)  Then you need to enter the check.  Here you can just put FALSE.
    3)  The last part is to create your message.  Message type E so they get an error and then create a message number in the class that you choose and give it a description:
Document Type 'ZZ' is not allowed
    Save it and wah lah!
Let me know how it goes.
    Thanks,
    Jes

  • Restricting TDS based on validation rules for vendor invoice posting

I have two Tax Types assigned in the vendor master. If at the time of invoicing user do not delete the unwanted tax types, system posts both the amounts related to both the tax types.
User has to necessarily delete one tax type which is not required and then proceed with simulating the vendor invoice.
Can this be controlled thru validation rules ? Even if the user forgets to delete the unwanted tax type while passing vendor invoice, validation rule must throw an error asking to delete the unwanted tax types before simulating the vendor invoice.
Please help how to build such validation rule with detailed procedure.
    Thanks
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,
I hope you have selected both withholding tax type and code at the vendor master level itself.
It is generally advisable to select withholding tax type at vendor master level and leave the field withholding tax code to be in display mode. Hence during vendor master creation, they can only select withholding tax type and not the withholding tax code. Ensure liable to tax should be ticked against all withholding tax types.
During invoice entry creation either in FB60 or in MIRO, they can select the withholding tax code next to the withholding tax type and simulate and post.
In your case, you cannot delete the withholding tax types at invoice entry level. Ensure to delete the unwanted withholding tax type from your vendor master itself, I mean delete only the withholding tax codes pertaining to that unwanted withholding tax type.
Hope this helps. Assign points if useful
    Regards,
    Dwarak.
