Compliance report - Oracle Projects??

Hi All,
Does anybody has any idea about Compliance Report.
If so , can you please guide me how to run it in Oracle Projects.
Thanks and please reply,
Anand.

Hi
There is no way to fund the lowest tasks.
You cannot generate invoice with invoice lines per lowest level tasks, using standard functionality.
Assuming your billing is based on WORK, you could customize the Invoice Format to summarize RDL's by lowest task level.
However, if you need hard limit control by lowest task level you will need to capture the allocation of fund to tasks. That could be done on a revenue budget you maintain by lowest level tasks. In addition, develop billing extension called during GDI that will perform the fund check for each task.

  • Sales Order reporting in Projects.

    Hi All,
I had created the PO received the goods against the same. Move Ordered the Goods & Updated the summary of the concerned Project. Hence could see the required purchase commitments against the projects.
I had created a sales order. Assigned it against a project number. Now I want to see the effect of Sales in the projects. What are the remaining steps I am required to take up in order to complete the process?
I have till now created a Sales Order only.
    Looking forward to your contributions.
    Thanks
    Tarun.

    Hi
If you have a complex scenarios where part of the project execution is done within Manufacturing, and part of the projects is out of the manufacturing area, you may want to consider implementing Oracle Projects Costing and Billing, and enable Project Manufacturing for your inventory & WIP organizations.
If everything is executed within the manufacturing cycle, and you are not using Oracle Projects, then you would build your solution for reporting by projects based on GL. In that case, you might need to create a project segment in the accounting KFF. Then you need to configure all the accounting entries of costs and billing to track the project number. Even without using Oracle Projects, it might be useful to enable Project Manufacturing. You will use the Seiban numbers as projects, without cost collection into PA. Doing that will allow you to enter the seiban/project number on the sale order. You would be able to track inventory by project, and plan the WIP jobs by project. Use the Cost Management Accounting Generation Client Extension to control the accounting of the various inventory transactions, and populate the project number value. If you use WIP jobs, note that there is no client extension to control the accounting of WIP. You might consider using separate WIP ACCOUNTING CLASS for each one of your project. You would also need to struggle with the Receivables Auto Accounting for invoices and revenue generation. There you might need to use the item parameter, assuming you could set up separate delivered items per project.

    Hi,
Refer Oracle Project Management User Guide. (Section 2: Workplan and Progress Management)
Oracle Projects archives all submitted task and workplan progress. You can correct
submitted progress records and create backdated progress records.
    Backdating Progress
    ============
You can create backdated progress records to fill gaps in the progress history of a task
or project. You can select any non-cycle progress date prior to the system date and enter
    progress for this past date.
For example, you can enter backdated progress for a Friday in the past even if a project
has a progress cycle with Monday as the reporting day.
You enter an As of Date, progress status, a brief overview, comments, and physical
percent complete when you enter backdated progress.
Backdated progress transactions are for informational purposes

  • MSP Integration with Oracle Projects

    Hi Dina,
Does the integration between MSP and Oracle Projects work without any issues in R 12.1.3? We've tried using it in the past with R 12.0.6 but have to say the experience was not good. It used to work at times and fail on other times. Most of the times the first time import from MSP to Oracle Project used to work but subsequent changes to the WBS used to give issues while trying to import into Oracle Projects (even though the link to the Oracle Project existed in MSP).
One of our new customers (Construction Company) wants to create the WBS in MSP (Microsoft Project ver 2003 or 2007) and then import it into Oracle Projects to track progress, effort and cost. Any changes to the WBS (which happens frequently) will be done in MSP and imported back into Oracle Projects. Does the above mentioned requirement work consistently in R 12.1.3? Please let us know.
    Thanks
    Regards,
    Sri

The MSP integration requirements that you describe should work in the latest versions of 11i e.g. (FP.M RUP4) as well as R12.1.3.
My experience is that providing all scheduling is done in MSP then the integration functionality works well.
The recommended process flow for MSP integration is:-
    •     Oracle Projects: A project manager creates a project in Oracle Projects from a project template containing information for deliverables, work breakdown structures, and resource assignments
    •     MSP: The unscheduled resource and workplan data is downloaded to Microsoft Project for scheduling
    •     MSP: The project is scheduled in Microsoft Project based on task assignments, task dependencies, task constraints, and other attributes
    •     MSP: The scheduled workplan data is uploaded to Oracle Projects for publishing
    •     Oracle Projects: The project workplan is published in Oracle Projects
    •     Oracle Projects: After the workplan is published, the project is accessible to all team members working on the project. Team members work on their assignments and report their progress in Oracle Projects
    •     Oracle Projects: The team members' progress on the tasks is collected for updating the project plan
    •     Oracle Projects: The project plan is updated with the team members' progress
    •     MSP: The project is now unscheduled. The unscheduled project plan is downloaded to Microsoft Project for rescheduling
    •     MSP: The project plan is rescheduled in Microsoft Project and the task information is updated
    •     Oracle Projects: The rescheduled workplan is uploaded to Oracle Projects for publication

Yes it is. The Oracle database wasn't initially designed to be ANSI compliant. As you correctly state the ANSI standards weren't around when it was initially designed, so the statement is perfectly correct. ;)Ok, in one sense it may be correct but it is a completely misleading statement. Not sure why you think it's misleading.Because there was no ANSI standard, so making it sound like a design choice The Oracle database wasn't initially designed to be ANSI compliant. would suggest to most readers that there was a standard to be compliant to.
Like saying Ford originally did not design their cars to incorporate safety features such as ABS, seat belts and air bags.
The OP asked "why oracle is having different syntaxes for joins than ANSI syntaxes ?" and the answer is that Oracle wasn't initially designed with ANSI compliance, so it has it's old non-ANSI syntax,As shown above, the old syntax was ANSI compliant at the time and to call it non-ANSI is either incorrect or misleading dependent on your point of view.
and since ANSI syntax became the standard it now supports that. And since ANSI switched to a new standard, Oracle had to implement the new standard as well as the previous ANSI standard would be more accurate in my opinion.
Nothing misleading as far as I'm aware in that.I find the whole discussion about ANSI and Oracle's supposed non-compliance, reads like it was Oracle's choice to deviate from the standards, when it was ANSI's bullheaded decisions to pointlessly change standards that left Oracle and other vendors out of compliance, and that was a decision made solely by ANSI.
This is probably the reason ANSI no longer produces SQL standards, the endless syntax fiddling would eventually have made forward left under outer joins a reality.

  • Compare Oracle Project Management and Primavera

    Hi All,
We are using Primavera today and it is not integrated to Oracle.
We are also currently implementing Oracle Projects Management (R12.1.3) and trying to evaluate if Primavera can be replaced by Projects Management. Based upon my little experience with Primavera - I see some advantages of Primavera over Projects Management e.g.
    a. Primavera is more user friendly than Oracle Projects Management.
Primavera: easy to create workplan; configurable views; generate reports with gantt charts
    b. Primavera has scheduling engine to derive schedules based upon dates/duration/logic while Project Managment does not have it.
    c. Gantt charts are better in Primavera than Oracle Projects Management.
Has anyone also done similar kind of analysis and evaluated the need of Primavera integration with Oracle Projects Management? I would appreciate if you can share your inputs.
    Thanks,
    Nitin

    Hi,
I have used both the product. For project management i would suggest to use primavera for the same reason u mentioned.
the only disadvanage in primavera is it is not integrated with ERP.
Now oracle provide a AIA PIP integration package to integrate Primavera with oracle Projects(Limited integration). Use primaver for Project managment and oracle for Project Costing and Billing

  • What is impact of Complex procurment with retention on Oracle Project Cost?

    Hello Experts / Dina,
Can you please explain the flow and acrrual of cost when complex purchase order has been raised with multiple retention on Oracle Project and interface the cost to Oracle Project.
Example - Complex purchase order of contract consulting is raised with amount of 1000 GBP with 4 Milstone of 250 GBP upon 25% completion of work.
I wanted to know in this scenarion how the retention payment / invoice matches to purchase order impact on cost interface to project by using PRC:Interface cost to projects.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards
    :-)

    Hello,
As per Oracle Costing user guide on retainage.....
"Oracle Projects does not report on or interface project-related retainage distribution
lines as commitments or actual costs. Instead, Oracle Projects captures the full amount
of the expense as a commitment and, when applicable, for the funds check. Later, the
full amount of the expense is interfaced to Oracle Projects as an actual cost. Retainage is
related to the payment of the invoice and it ultimately does not have an impact on the
    overall project cost."
So in relation with my previous example, if period end accounting is enable on procurment side then on raising of purchase order of 1000GBP and interfacing cost to oracle project, will be treated as commitment amount(1000GBP)? and when the invoiced raised / matched and accounted for 1st milestone let say 300 GBP then complete 1000GBP will be interface as actual cost or just 300 GBP will be as actual cost?
Really appreciate if you can me help in understand. :-)
    Thanks

  • Oracle Project Analytics - Project Manager Security Implementation

Has anyone implemented a security scenario for Project Managers, such that they can only see the information associated to their projects when using EBS as the source? If so,
    - How did you identify the relationship between project managers and their projects? Did you use an initialization block and pull this information in from EBS?
    - Where did you define the security/filtering configuration so that they were limited on what they could see?
    - Did you create a custom responsibility for 'Project Managers' and have them access a set of Project Manager dashboard/reports that followed the Project Manager security model?
    Thanks in advance.

Oracle Project Analytics - Project Manager Security Implementation

    Coolmesh84,
Thanks for the great info and reply. This makes complete sense to me, but I just want to make sure I am clear on a couple points:
+1. Use an initialization box to filter the user's emp id+
You mean use an init block to pull the users employee id and store it in a session variable correct? The session variable will then be used later as part of the filter criteria.
*2. and add a filter to the required dimension table in business layer to filter based on the project_manager_id column for the project manager group.+*
To implement the step above, would you follow theses steps:
    1. Go to Manage->Security
    2. Under Groups, select the group planned to be utilized for this filter (in this case I double clicked the Project Manager group).
    3. I then Click permissions button for this group
    4. Go to the Filters tab of the window that pops up
    5. Add a filter, go to BMM tab and select the Project dimension and then define a filter for Proj Mgr Id = nqsession.employeeid
+3. Ideally you should be able to use the OOTB project manager group for this security.+
This is a good point, but a few more questions here - There are a number of Project related groups (see below) in the out of box Oracle BI Apps RPD and all of them essentially roll up to the super group 'Operating Unit Org-based Security'. Is there a best practice or preferred approach for utilizing these groups as they related to Oracle EBS v12? Is there any good documentation out there to see what the intended use and setup is for these groups? Do all of these groups relate back to an EBS Responsibility? I have read through the OBIA Security Configuration document and basically all it says is to enable the operating unit org initilization block and thats all .. not really all that helpful.
    Thanks again - k

  • VS, ODT and using "Oracle Project"-template requires Policy Management

    HI,
I installed the ODT 11.1.0.6.20 and tried to create a new project using the "Oracle Project" but received the following error message: "The project <ProjectName> requires Policy Management. Open this project in Visual Studio.NET Enterprise Developer or Visual Studio.NET Enterprise Architect."
I have tried this using VS 2008 Professional and Team Edition. The operating systems is Vista x64 Ultimate.
Oracle documentation doesn't mention any specific VS version so this is perhaps something else. Is there a workaround or fix to get around this?
    TIA,
    Kari

OK, I'll give it a try. This suggestion makes perfect sense. I have used that template to create a project before, but noticed that it doesn't contain a windows form by default and so I assumed that it was a build for a n-tier application database access class, which is not necessarily what I want, and so I abandoned the effort. I know I can add a window form. I appreciate the response and will post back my results.
Is there an example project somewhere that I could download and have a look at?
Thanks again for your reply, even though you didn't reply to me. I think you resolved my problem! :-)
