Component cable to TV problem

I have an Ipod Touch 4th Generation and plugged it into my TV using the Apple component cable.  It works with youtube but I only get audio when I try to watch streamimg TV.  The video is on the Ipod but not on the TV screen.

TV out is not supported by the Google YouTube app. Per:
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!searchin/youtube/tv$20out/youtube/wbm8v 35tbyg/ndtW9MsNzk4J
1. Use YouPlayer by Homegrown Software Ltd
2. Use the Apple Digital AV Adapter because my Apple device can mirror.
3. Use the Apple VGA Adapter because my Apple device can mirror.
Note that nley the 5G iPod supports mirroring.

  • IPod Touch 2nd Gen Video Out Problem with Apple Component Cable

I'm trying to get video out working with my iPod touch connected to my TV. Here's the information.
32 GB iPod Touch 2nd Gen
    Apple Universal Dock (current version.)
Apple Component Out cable for iPod (current version that connects with a dock connector.
I've connected the component cables into the component video input on my TV. When I start playing any video (purchased off iTunes store in Standard Def,) I get a scrambled picture that appears to be the video, and no sound. I purchased the TV in South Korea and haven't gotten to test it yet on a TV back in the US. I have my video out settings with wide screen turned off and set to NTSC (South Korea uses NTSC.) I've also tried every setting combination, and switching the cable connections with the same or similar results. Sorry if a similar problem has been posted elsewhere, but after searching, I couldn't find any similar behavior. Any ideas on what might be the cause? I don't have any other component devices to check if the component on the TV is bad.

I've got that same problem: iPod Touch 2nd Gen, Apple Component Cables, and an HD TV.
The funny thing is, the cable works fine with an iPod Classic (160 GB) but not for the iPod Touch. Can anyone explain why that is?

  • Component cable problem

    Hi!
I'm trying to connect my ipod touch 1st gen to my Samsung TV (LED series 5) using a Mac component cable. So far, I've only been able to watch and listen to videos, but unable to play any music.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Roberto!
Your best bet if you don't want voice over is to plug your iPod in to your computer and de-select voice over. However, If it got wet, there may be other problems. Try posting this as a new question, and be specific about what's happening. No doubt that lots of people will be interested and willing to help! Best of luck to you!

  • Ipod Classic A/V Component Cable problem

    Hi guys,
I'm having trouble with my brand new, latest generation, Ipod Classic 160GB with tv out A/V component cable.
When I plug it on my tv I get a vertical split image with some color distortion. Sound is ok, though.
Funny part is that I also own a 2nd generation ipod touch and the cable work fine with it.
Please help me out! I've searched the entire internet and couldn't find nothing regarding this problem yet

This is probably a long shot but:
Are you getting both channels of sound? I know this sounds ludicrous, but a friend of mine had a third-party cable and it seems the colour coded sleeves - red, white and yellow - on the AV plugs were mixed up so that video was coming through one of the audio plugs. The upshot was that he got one channel of audio and video sash until he tried different combinations of plugging the cables into the ports.

  • Apple AV component cable problem

Hi I'm new, i hope you can help me!
my brother gave me the Apple AV component cable (audio: red white, video: red green blue), I was very happy about it and wanted to try it on my tv, but then i recognized that my tv doesn't has the red green and blue ones for video.
It has red white and yellow (scart).
cause of that i bought this http://www.elektro-planet.com/shop/catalog/images/5525-3rgb.jpg , but when I try to use it I don't get anything on the screen.
    Only audio is appearing.
    Can someone help me pls?

I had the same issue at first when I tried to plug the component cable into the front of my tv. Then I found the component connectors on the back of my tv.
The fuller explanation is there are two kinds of cables - Component and Composite.
    Composite cable has three colors:
    Red / White for sound
    Yellow for video
    Component cable has five colors
Red / White grouped as a pair for sound
Red / Blue / Green for video
My tv has AV 1 on the front, it uses Composite - and AV 2 on the back using Component. Hopefully yours also has component plugs somewhere.
I took a movie over to someone else's house and they only had Composite style connectors. Connect the Red/White audio plugs like normal and the green component plug into the yellow composite slot and you get black/white. It's the best you can achieve between two different techs.
I suggest going out and picking up the composite cable as well. Because, frankly, composite is the lowest quality of image and if you've got a higher quality tv then component will do you a better image. Seriously, connecting it all up on my tv and comparing picture quality side-by-side by flipping back/forth AV1 AV2, keep the component cable and get the composite cable as a "fall back" as necessary.

  • Iphone 4 component cable problem!

I recently purchased the iphone component cable (white box) to watch videos through my samsung LCD TV.  All cables are connected correctly, however, nothing is working.  I get no video or audio.
When i play a video, the iphone displays:
    "TV Connected
The Video is playing on the TV"
However, i have selected the component source on my Samsung TV and nothing is showing other than "no Signal".  I have selected the correct region for the UK on the iphone settings under Settings >Ipod > Tv out , (which i beleive is PAL for uk).
    Can anyone suggest an answer.
    Many thanks

did you choose component as the input source?
to view component input on my sony tv (and every other tv really)
I have to change the input source to be component rather then tv or hdmi or....

  • A/V Component cables no longer able to work with iPhone 1st Generation?

I purchased the Apple A/V Component cables to be able to hook my iPhone up to my stereo at work and TV at home. Before the 2.0.1 update, it worked ok. No hassles or problems what so ever. Now, after the 2.0.1 update, I can no longer use this device for what it seems it was made for. It seems that now it's a $50 iPhone charger and that's about it. Anyone know of any fix or maybe something I did to make this happen? I called Apple and they said "that's odd, it should be working" and then asked if I could bring it in.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It seems it's not just the A/V Component cables that aren't working with the new upgrade. Apparently some other people have had issues with docking stations and speaker extensions after the upgrade. Anyone?

  • IPhone 4 and Apple Component Cables do not work

I have an iPhone 4 and my Apple Component Cables no longer work.
I have had an iPhone 3G since July 2008, and a first gen iPod Touch. They both have and continue to work with the cables.
I have the Component cables hooked up to an Apple universal dock... it's been a great way to watch movies and TV shows on my bedroom TV, as the remote control works through the dock. I've become so accustomed to using it, I no longer even use a DVD player (all my media is digital). That's the main reason I upgraded to a 32Gb ip4. I have tried plugging the cables directly into my phone, rather than going through the dock, to no avail.
I am now on my second replacement iPhone 4, and the Genius at the Apple Store had the same issue with his demo unit. Oddly, the ip4 appears to work fine with the lower quality composite cables, but not at all with the HD compatible component cables. My question is, have any of you experienced the same problem? How is this not a bigger issue? (I can't find any threads about this issue), Am I the only person who uses his iPhone this way?
I have been in contact with Applecare. A nice rep has been trying to help me, but as of yet, has not been able to offer an answer. On the Apple Store, you can clearly see iPhone 4 listed as a compatible device for the cables.

I know this is of absolutely no use to you at all but...
    Same here!
Paid nearly 40 quid (GBP) for the component video cable from apple, same for the universal dock!
Nothing, nada, nought... through my theatre system or direct into the TV.
Shame really, iPhone 4 latest patches, really BIG TV (latest, greatest everything input's) fairly simple theatre system (again, everything inputs) but no joy at all getting a picture (video) out of the component cable.
    Bah...
I read somewhere there could be a fault in the iPhone 4 OS, but I'd have thought that they would have fixed this by now!
    NOTHING WORKS!!!
This is not a good 40 quid value !!!
    Is there a solution?

  • Apple iPhone 4 Dock not working with Apple A/V Component Cables.

Okay, Got a problem here, or I think its a problem. I purchased the iPhone 4 dock and the A/V component cables with power connection. When I connect the A/V cables to the iphone, they work fine and I see the video and hear the audio on the tv. When I connect the A/V cables to the iphone 4 dock, then place the iphone 4 on the dock it DOES NOT send the audio and video feed to the TV but it does charge the iphone.
The iPhone 4 dock, on Apple Store website says, its compatible.
    From Apple Site...
(Charge and sync your iPhone 4 with the iPhone 4 Dock. Your iPhone 4 sits upright in the dock as it syncs or charges, so it's perfect for a desk or countertop. It features a convenient audio line out port that connects to powered speakers. It supports other iPad accessories, such as iPhone AV cables and the USB Power Adapter. You can even conduct speakerphone calls with your iPhone 4 in its dock.)
Is anyone else having this problem ?

  • Connecting iPOD classic to TV using Apple Component cable

I have a 80g ipod classic and an apple component AV cable. I am trying to connect this to an TV with component video inputs. This TV is not an HDTV. I have attached the bl gr r cables in the correct position. I am getting a scrambled picture for NTSC and a split picture for PAL. based on my location I am sure that I should be using NTSC.
I brought my iPOD into a local apple store and he was able to plug it in to an HDTV there with no problem so I'm pretty sure that niether the ipod or the cable is defective.
    My question is:
Is the ipod classic only compatible with an HDTV using the component cable? If so, will it work using the composite cable?

The dock is only good so you can use the remote. I don't know what the problem is with your Standard TV's with Component Inputs ... I've tried two different ones, also different brands, and they worked. I did make sure to change the iPod Video Settings to "TV Size = Standard". If it's set to Widescreen, that may account for the problem.
Otherwise, I'd suggest returning the Component cables and getting the Composite ones ... or just get the Composite ones as well. Personally, I think Apple totally screwed us all over by not just adding ONE dang Composite Video out cable to the AV Cables and allowing the Component Out to have a HD/Standard switch, much like most of the Game Console AV cables available. I don't know why they didn't do this, especially since we've got about 2 years before EVERYONE starts upgrading to HD. I guess they're just hoping to rake in some extra money by not making the Component AV Cable more capable.

  • If Component Cables don't work then what will?

I'm trying to get my iPad to output slideshow/videos/Youtube/anything to my older TV using Apple component cables. The TV image appears scrambled/vertically mirrored for a millisecond or so and then nothing. Audio is perfect. Have tried various cable connection & source input selections on the tv but without luck. When connected to the 30 pin dock connector (to tv) videos don't display on the iPad although the progress bar does advance. This differs to photo slideshows which can be viewed on the connected iPad. Really don't want to pay for composite cables unless I'm certain they'll work. Anyone with a suggestion?

Dates aren't the determinants. Our Component AV cables drive a 2002 27" JVC just fine.

  • Component cable on standard definition input

Hi, I have an Iphone 3G with a component cable. I know this is intended for a high definition input. However, I only have a standard def input. When I plug the blue cable into the yellow video-in plug on the standard def TV, I only get a black and white picture, but no color. I don't get any video if I try the green and red plugs.
I know my problem would be solved with a composite cable, but I'm not close to an Apple store now, and I wold prefer not to buy a new cable. Any ideas for making this work with my current component cable? Thanks.

Sorry. You need the proper cable.

  • Spent $50 on a component cable -$50 + brand new tv + iPhone 3g = nothing

I just ( 3 hours ago) purchased an Av component cable (model #MB128LL/B) from the apple store in hingham, MA. After being assured it would work with my brand new Westinghouse flat screen I brought it home and plugged it in. I get a message that says...not compatible want to go airplane. Regardless of my answer I get no video on tv. iPhon screen plays video with no sound. Tv says no input. Any thoughts? I called the my apple line and was told call Westinghouse. Specs on tv (SK-26H640G) says it works with any component device that outputs 480i, 480p, 720P or 1080i. As far as I know my iPhone 3g outputs 480i? What is the problem?

I have used my component cable (bought from Apple) with the original iPhone, 3G, and 3GS with multiple TV's never had issue.
You should NOT be getting they whole "airplane mode" message.
Seeing that message is usually 1 of two things. 1 the cable (thing being attached) really is not compatible (but in this case, that cable is) OR 2, your dock port on the phone has issues. Each pin does something unique. Some are for charging, some are for syncing, some are four audio, some are for video, etc etc. Depending on what it is being plugged in, it activates certain things. If the phone's dock port is messed up on some pin that is just used for video out you may never have noticed until now.
I would schedule appointment at Apple store to bring in your cable and phone and try out on some screen there. If they see it having issues, they can try a different cable, if still issues, they can try on another phone and if that works, they can replace for you.

  • Nano3g new A/V "Component" cable warning

I have the new nano 35. after much trouble initially with type of dock (iphoto dock w/ S-video port does not allow "TV out" to be switched to "on") However, I did succeed with a new universal dock via S-video to enjoy viewing excellent TV out. Now the watning : I bought the new Component cable (part # MB128LL/A) doe the $50 went home hooked it up to a component capable TV. The TV output function automatically appeared as "ON" and audio worked however the picture (previously viewed on the universal dock/ S-video) was now completely distorted ... two images side by side stretched up with bizarrely saturated bands of color ... Thought I might have chosen PAL instead of NTSC but I had not. Tried "full screen = on" which yielded no picture at all. I know the component ports on the TV to be good so I returned the cable for money back. could have been a defective cable .. but i will waste no more time solving the problem or risk money on it. suspect they still have issues with compatibility for some products (i.e. some TVs or early production nano3g's).

PS Sorry for the typo i meant nano 3G not 35.. also the TV videos i was viewing were bought from iTunes and viewed successfully via the UNIVERSAL dock/S-video
I couldn't view via the iPhoto dock even though it had S-video out which works well with the iPhoto iPod with the color display.
    the Apple article : http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300233
does not (I believe) correctly show a pict of the iPhoto dock with an S-video out ... but the one i have surely does not work with the nano 3g ... so it is either an early product in transition or the article doesn't show a pic of all the dock types with S-video.
