Component determination in BOM

Hello,
I have to include a procedure in a BOM component to determine if that component must be selected or not according to a caracteristic but the option is not enabled in the BOM item.
Does anybody know if it is a customizing issue and if yer, where to custimize it?

In the BOM, you can go and define the dependency for that BOM material based on the characteristic value.

Dear gurus,
i need insert in the quantity of component in the BOM the value 1,1234 , a value whit for decimal but the system for the UM ( example KG) is 3 decimal in the transaction CUNI .
Are there the procedure for insert this value ?

Hi,
SAP Standard will allow u only 3 decimal palces.
So do one thing increase the base quantity of header material so it can fullfill you're requirement..
EX: in bom you have given like for one FERT material you want RAW material 1.1234..normal in this sap std will allow only up to
1.123 only...
For this in the BOM of FERT material header data PUT base Quantity 100 so that you can put youre RAW material Quantity as
112.23.

Add component to 200+ BOMs

Hi,
I want to add a single component to over 200 BOMs. Is there any mass change transaction ? I tried the CEWB but cant seem to figure out how to use it to add a single component to many BOMs.

GS,
1. CEWB cannot be used to mass add a Components to Multiple Material BOMS.
CS20 if none of the BOM components are common for all 200, may be you can try to group them based on common materials and then try to run CS20 multiple times to complete your task.
Final option is as described earlier LSMW and BDC.

Batch Determination in BOM?

Is it possible to determine my component requirements inside the BOM from which BATCH so when I run MRP it will do reservation from the right batch? and if not found it would create a purchase requisition?
If not, when I run MRP it will display Dependant Requirement on the Material Master level and not the Batch, how to let it automatically determine which batch it should set the requirements on?

Goto MM02 with you material id and check out if the "Batch Management Requirement Indicator" is ticked on Sales:general/plant view .U should switch on this indicator .This indicator specifies whether the material is managed in batches.
Moreever , this cannot be changed if stocks exist in either the current period or in the previous period. The reason for checking the previous period is because stocks can be posted to this period when goods movements are entered.

Purchase Order With Sub Item Component List for BOM material..??

We want to create PO with a component list that should be appears under the main item.
The component list is a mterial BOM.
Ex:- bom MATERIAL - CATALOG1 (Non Stock Materials)
COMPONENT 1 :-ABCD
COMPONENT 2 :- XYZ.
WHEN I ENTER THE BOM MATERIAL:- CATALOG1 IN /ME21N . Higher-Level Item-
Automatically botom line should be appear component 1 , 2 as a Sub Item.
how to configur this issue..?? Its a standard Ponot Subcontract

Hi!
If you have correctly maintained the BOM in CS01, make sure that in ME21N you enter "L" as the item category, and then, in the field "material", enter the finished product (the header material in your BOM). Then, enter all other required fields.
When all mandatory data has been completed in ME21N, go to the "Material Data" tab. Here you will see an icon named "Components". If you click this icon, the materials in your BOM will be listed here.
So, please, do not expect the BOM to be displayed with mother and daugther segments in the item overview of ME21N. Instead, consider that you will only be able to see the components if you click the "Components" icon under the "Material Data" tab at item detail level.

How Cost component Determines The Correct Cost Elements?

In the cost component views i have cost element XXX is mapped to cost component Local raw materials and cost element YYY to imported raw materials and my local raw materials are linked to BSX inventory accounts of ZZZ. In this regard i have the following questions :-
1) When i create cost estimates (t.code CK11N) for a local raw material the system is showing this costs correctly under local raw material cost component, how the system know that this is local raw material and not an imported raw material? Because no where in the config settings i have mapped cost element XXX to local raw materials because XXX is a consumption cost element. The only config i have maintained for this raw material is linking it to the ZZZ account which is the balance sheet stock account. So how the system will determine this particular material is linked to cost element XXX and not YYY?

Please check assignment cost component structure your assign the purticular cost element your assigned that cost element is showing the costing sheet in ck11n report for ram material import or local.

Deleted Component appearing in BOM

Dear Guru's,
I m facing a strange situation where i have a BOM of material with one component and then i came to knw that,that material is not required any more so i removed the component and deleted the BOM.
But when i am running the MRP it is showing the deleted component,i am not able to understand hw it is happening.
Kindly throw some light on this.

check in md04 of that bom component, is there any dependent requirement.May be mrp for that header material
was carried out earlier before your bom change and later you have run mrp for components individually.
Do one thing run mrp - single item multi level for your header material again with planing mode 3 - delete and recreate planning data.

Mass component change in BOM

i want to mass change some components in BOM. For example in the BOM i have 10 components. Now i want to change 5 components in the BOM
I have around 500 FG How to do that? Is it possible in LSMW?. or CS20?

It is better to go for getting a BDC developed for all the mass changes in the BOM.
Using CS20 you can only change a single component and replace with a new material. I think BDC is the best alternative.

Component unit in BOM

I have a product whose base unit is KG. In the bill of material we are maintaining as G(because qty is very less).
When i run the MRP this quantity is getting rounded to 1.0.
What do i need to check .

Normally the base UoM is the lowest measurable unit. Since you have maintained KG for this, give this a try in your sandbox to check if it works in your business context.
For the BOM header maintain a base unit say as 1000 or 10,000 then in the component for this material which is maintained in grams increase the qty in relation to the base qty. which you have maintained for the header.
Now load demand & check if it meets your need.

Component Substitution in BOM

Hello,
I have some problem, my User have a material substitution in BOM component of my Finished Goods 25520. the Component material 10001520 was declared to be replaced by component material 10002520 but the effective date will be on September 7, 2008.
here come the problem, we made a production order for meterial 25520 on the date August 19, 2008. and made confirmation. when we check in the Prodcution order component Overview both the material 10001520 and 10002520 was pick up by the order and when examine closely material 10002520 (this is the one to be the substitute for 10001520 in september 7, 2008) it has zero req qty but it's backflushed indicator was tick, and when see the confirmation made to the order it has an error. since this material must not be pick by the order when the BOM exploded since this material is not yet effective in the BOM as desired.
why this happen?
please help, is am not clear on my description, please let me know.

BOM Usage: 1
Alternate BOM: 01
I see the following:
10001520 Valid from (14.10.2008) Valid to (05.05.2008)
10001520 Valid from (14.05.2008) Valid to (07.09.2008)
10002520 Valid from (07.09.2008) Valid to (31.12.9999)
same amount, this was the series of bom component in CS11.
Please give your findings.

Plant specific component views in BOM

Hi,
I have 2 Plants say, A and B. I have a Product say P which has several components C1, C2, C3 ...
I wish to create a single centralized BOM with all the components. However, Plant A should be able to view components C1 and C2 only whereas Plant B should be able to view components C2 and C3 only.
When I make changes in the centralized BOM, the change should be reflected in the respective Plant views accordingly. I do not want to create BOMs individually at each Plants for the Product.
I tried using Group BOM and Plant Assignment, but not able to restrict component visibility as required above. I tried using Effectivity Filter using Effective Parameter as Plant. But doesn't seem to work ...
Is there any simpler way ...?

Change quantity of a component in a BOM created through SDK

I am creating AR Invoices which are based on Sales Orders through SDK. These SO have a BOM which has only 1 component, when I create a AR Invoice off of these SO I have to be able to change the quantity which is delivered. How do I specify that I am changing the quantity of the component and not the amount of the Parent?

If you go to Document Settings and change the selection to Price and Total for Parent Item Only, when you choose this BOM which is a Sales Item, you can modify the quantity of the Child Item and it does not affect the Parent Items price or quantity.
This is what I am trying to accomplisg through the SDK, but it seems all I can insert is the Parent Item in the Marketing Document, how can I alter the Child quantity?
