Component Properties Inaccessible After SP3 Install

We recently installed SP3 for Xcelsius 2008. I tried to add the Trend Analyzer component to my canvas and it looks like the object properties box does not display correctly. It almost looks like its presenting some sort of behind-the-scenes properties instead of the usual layout. This would be ok if I could set both the Source Data and Trend Data elements to something in my sheet but the Trend Data doesnt have the ability to bind to any cells. We have 3 other users using Xcelsius 2008 SP3 and the same thing happens on each of their machines when you pull the trend analyzer over. Is anybody else seeing this behavior? Would this by chance be fixed in the hot fixes?
Thanks,
Ross

Hi,
Can you enable the options such as Properties,Objects Browser and Components under View menu.I am using the same version wherein it shows the Properties of Trend Analyzer.

  • Boot Camp Update 2.1 for Windows XP after SP3 installed?

I accidentally installed SP3 on my Boot Camp Windows XP installation, and now BC update 2.1 will not install (fails). I currently have BC 2.0 running.
Is there any way to get BC 2.1 to install AFTER SP3 has already been installed? Can I roll back SP3?

Well, I had similar issues, at least, in that I had not installed the update before SP3, actually, I wasn't even aware of the update until today when I started hunting for a driver update for my graphx and soundboard, since some games that used to be stable were crashing on me all the time.
As I actually have a licensed OEM version of XP on my bootcamped partition, re-installing it may cause me to have to call to MS to even be able to activate and I really didn't feel like doing that...
What I found out is that you can unpack the .exe file using 7Zip (and probably other similar tools) which yields two new .exe files, one of which with almost the same name, unpack that one too and you should end up with a directory named "BootCamp20ToBootCamp205" containing a bunch of files that start with "binary.". Figure out which ones are important for you (for instance, I needed Binary.Nvidiamobile_XPBin for my MBP) and add the .exe extension to the file-names, run them and follow the instructions.
This will give you at least a partial update for those components that are causing problems. Now all we have to do is wait until Apple makes an SP3 compatible installer-bundle so we don't have to go through this crap by ourselves...

  • BPA shows domain prepped for Exchange 2007 SP1 after SP3 install

    Hello,
I have a Client with a domain that is at 2003 domain functional level and 2000 forest level.
The client had Exchange 2007 SP1 and I have just upgraded it to SP3. There is one CAS, one Hub Transport, and one Mailbox Server (All three had Exchange 2007 SP1).
The domain and forest were prepped earlier by someone else and when I ran the installation program, it didn't pop up any errors on any of the servers.
The upgrade to SP3 is in preperation to Exchange 2010. Everything is working ok. I have checked:
    1) In ADSIEdit, Exchange System Objects properties: Object Version =11221.
    2) In ADSIEdit, Services>Microsoft Exchange>Organization: Object Version =11222
    3) In ADSIEdit, RangeUpper value of ms-Exch-Schema-Version-Pt object = 14625
However, When I run the Exchange BPA, it reports that the domain is prepped for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (In informational items). This is an informational item and not a warning or alert. However, I am concerned. Is this normal, and will it affect
    the migration to Exchange 2010?
    Thanks,
    HA

    Hello Ha20,
Based on my experience, it will not affect the migration. However, it’s recommended to prepare the schema again to avoid any potential issues.
    Thanks,

  • Ethernet card disappears after SP3 install (T60 1951-45G)

    Hi!
I updated my Windows XP to Service Pack 3 yesterday and now it seems my ethernet card has disappeared. i.e. it acts at it has been disabled in the BIOS (not showing up in device manager etc.). I've tried entering BIOS, hiding it, booting, restart, enable in BIOS and new boot but no luck. In another thread I saw people complaining about broken MS update and that a clean install might resolve the problem.
My question is if anyone else have had the same experience and if it is solvable without a clean install of a streamlined SP3.
    My machine is a T60 1951-45G.
Everything else seems to run just fine by the way, but I'll post back if I find additional problems.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

There are reports of SP3 breaking LAN/WAN connectivity on many laptops (TechNet, MSFN, MS forums). Not quite certain what the resolution is at this point, and not quite certain whether a streamlined SP3 fresh install would be a fix for the issue. For some, SP3 disables WAN completely, while for others the issue is with LAN. It seems certain "newer" drivers are the culprit.
Before doing something drastic, try re-installing the LAN drivers from Lenovo to see if that fixes it, otherwise you may just have to revert back to SP2 (nothing wrong with it on an existing machine that otherwise runs without issues). SP3, afterall, is particularly a cumulative update (albeit with some new "features"), so really there's no great reason to update a working and updated XP-SP2 system with this new service pack.
On a side note, be sure to check if KB941644 was inadvertently installed as part of the update - it's a "hotfix" that is known to cause a number of connectivity issues (unresolvable).
You can check here (MS XP issues) to see if there is a solution to your issue.
    Hope this clears things up

  • Installing 2.1 after  sp3 already installed...

so...I was wondering if bootcamp had any recent updates, so I checked and it turns out that my BC2.0 is outdated. I checked the download page, and 2.1 says that I should have that installed before I install sp3...I check my computer properties, and I had sp3 installed already. Is this a problem? Everything works fine. What would happen if I install BC2.1? Do I even need to seeing as everything is fine as is right now and there aren't any real improvements in 2.1?

I was in the same boat as yourself at one point. I went ahead and installed boot camp drivers version 2.1. I haven't had any issues from it. Things are running well under 2.1 just as they did under 2.0.

  • How to change number of retries and delay before retrying after software install failure

I deploy a software to client, but the installation is fail, so it will retry. but How to change the number of retries and delay before retrying after software install failure?
I find "Retry Settings" in "Software Distribution Component Properties". But I think it work for Distribution, not the installation. am I right?

First, are you referring to packages or applications because the behavior is different.
Also, why do you want it to retry a failure? It failed for a reason so you need to fix the cause of the failure first. If it failed the first, it will likely fail the next time for the same reason. In general, ConfigMgr will only retry on transient type
    errors.

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
The test works on OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later. I don't recommend running it on older versions of OS X. It will do no harm, but it won't do much good either.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of it have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message. See, for example, this discussion.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. Try to test under conditions that reproduce the problem, as far as possible. For example, if the computer is sometimes, but not always, slow, run the test during a slowdown.
You may have started up in "safe" mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    PATH=/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/libexec;clear;cd;p=(1248 ' 0.5 0.25 10 1000 15 5120 1000 25000 1 1 0 100 ' 51 25600 4 10 25 5120 102400 1000 25 1000 150 40 500 300 85 25 20480 262144 20     Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, a series of lines will appear in the Terminal window like this:
    [Process started]
Part 1 of 8 done at … sec
Part 8 of 8 done at … sec
The test results are on the Clipboard.
            Please close this window.
    [Process completed]
The intervals between parts won't be exactly equal, but they give a rough indication of progress. The total number of parts may be different from what's shown here.
Wait for the final message "Process completed" to appear. If you don't see it within about ten minutes, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, press the key combination control-C or command-period to stop it and go to the next step. You'll have incomplete results, but still something.
    12. When the test is complete, or if you stopped it because it was taking too long, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." My Safari will not allow me to open my Google calendar with Google Apps. I have to open my email with the older version of Google Apps. This happened after I installed 5.1.4. I tried to use the fix of changing to 64 bit by unchecking the 32 bit box but that didnt help.

I assume that there are legal restrictions on the way in which iTunes can get artwork automatically from any source apart from the iTunes Store (which is what the right-click > Get Album Artwork function uses).  For example, even though the Gracenote service that iTunes uses to match CDs and retrieve metadata (artist, album, track titles, etc.) also has artwork functions, iTunes does not make use of these.
For manual addition of artwork, there are three cases where the image you select may not be correctly embedded in your media files:
your media are in a format that doesn't accommodate embedded artwork - typically WAV files.  To embed artwork you'll need to convert to another format - Apple Lossless or AIFF if you want to preserve lossless quality, AAC or MP3 otherwise.
your media files are read only - to fix this, use Windows Explorer to find the folder that contains your files, right-click and select Properties.  On the General tab there's a check box labeled "Read-only" - if this is checked, or is grey (sometimes blue), click the box so that the flag is unchecked and the box is white.  Click OK, and then OK again when the "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files" option selected.  Now try adding the artwork again.
Windows permissions issues are preventing iTunes from updating your media files (there's some anecdotal evidence of a change in this behavior in iTunes 12).  See turingtest2's notes on Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows for advice on fixing this, then try adding the artwork again.

  • After I install Itunes 10.5.2 and open itunes a window opens stating another program is not allowing itunes to burn cd's. Next, I get an error window stating itunes 42404 is missing. I've uninstalled itunes 3 times and re-installed. No luck.

After I install iTunes 10.5.2 and open iTunes a window opens stating "The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and CD's and DVD's are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes." This happens everytime.
After that on one occasion a window stated "Itunes msi) was missing. Upon uninstalling and reinstalling that disapeared. Now I get a window stating, (A required Itunes component is not installed. Please repair or reinstall Itunes.(_42404)"

To fix registry, refer to this article:

  • Cannot get USB port to work after re-installing of SP2 on Satellite Pro L20

After re-installing XP Home SP2 and downloading all the updates & Drivers from here I cannot get my USB port to work properly, if I have more than one peripheral plugged in it says "Bandwidth Exceeded".
I have a Behringer BCD2000 which is a souncard/midi controler for DJ mixing, it worked fine before i reinstalled windows, now it clicks and pops when playing tunes, also the ASIO doesn't work when I run Traktor (Dj software) and the program freezes. Any other external sound card wont work either. I've been all through the device manager no conflicts apart from an ! over Serial under hidden devices.
I'm lost, is my only option buying a PCMCIA sound card, it worked fine before so surely there is a software solution to this?
If anyone can help I'd be most appreciative.

    Hello
Try to disable USB Error Detection:
    1. Right-click My Computer and then click Properties.
    2. Select Device Manager to view the Device Manager
    3. Locate and click the Universal Serial Bus Controller entry.
    4. Double-click Universal Host Controller and then click the Advanced tab of the Universal Host Controller Properties.
    5. Put a checkmark in the box for Disable USB Error Detection. Click OK.
    6. Restart the computer to see if "Bandwidth Exceeded" message occurs again
Did you use recovery media to reinstall WXP? When someone write it worked before and now not it is really not easy to say why this happen. Try to configure notebook as before and maybe it will work again. Behringer BCD2000 is not known to me and I dont know how it works and which software must be preinstalled there.
Can you use different USB devices like external HDD, USB mouse, USB memory stick or printer?

  • I plug in my printer and I get a message that says, "the disk you inserted is not readable." It didn't do this before but after I installed a segate hardrive software. I have removed the segate hardrive software but the message still appears.

I plug in my printer and I get a message that says, "the disk you inserted is not readable." It didn't do this before but after I installed a segate hardrive software. I have removed the segate hardrive software but the message still appears. What can I do to remove this error.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
Triple-click the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}' | open -f -a TextEdit
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. If the command produced no output, the window will be empty. Post the contents of the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window), if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. You can then close the TextEdit window. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that. No typing is involved in this step.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    { sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix)|org\.(amav|apac|cups|isc|ntp|postf|x)/{print $3}'; sudo defaults read com.apple.loginwindow LoginHook; sudo crontab -l; } 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    { launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'; crontab -l 2> /dev/null; } | open -f -a TextEdit
    Step 4
    ls -1A /e*/{la,mach}* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts .la* 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' | open -f -a TextEdit
Remember, steps 1-5 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

    Hi Robert,
Our team is well aware of the problem with WLCS 2.0 and WLS SP3 that shows
up when using the MyBuyBeans demo.
We are looking into this problem in engineering and we will post any
solution(s) once we figure out the offending issue.
    Thanks.

  • Impossible to open .dtproje file after re-installing SQL Server Management Studio

    Hi all,
today, after re-installing SQL Server Management Studio from a package downloaded from MS web site (SQLManagementStudio_x64_FRA.exe), I tried to open a SSIS package file via Visual Studio and I get a message stating that  this type of project (.dtproj)
    is not supported.
Here are the events that lead to this problem:
We have SQL Server 2005 installed on a server and are planning to migrate to SQL Server 2012.
1 - Earlier this year, to solve a problem that we had with the SSMS client, we installed SSMS 2012 client on my station.
At this point, it worked fine for SSMS and when I tried to access SSIS it converted the packages  to SSIS 2012 and it worked fine too.
2 - Yesterday, I tried to access SSMS and I had the message that the test period had expired; at this point I could open a SSIS file.
3 - To solve the problem with SSMS we decided to re-install it. It worked fine for SSMS but now I am not able to open a SSIS file.
Do you have any idea of what the problem is and what should I do to solve it?
It seems that there are some SSIS component missing, how could I get them back?

    You are welcome Sylviep,
Based on what I see you want to create BI projects (e.g. a SSIS project), thus it will be enough to install SSDT
which is part of the SQL Server installation media. I do not see why you would re-install SQL Server itself.

Error when registring Provider after finished install the portal.
Hi.. we are using Oracle9iAS 9.0.2.0.1, Sun Solaris 8.
Our problem is, after we finished installed the iAS, then open the Portal, and we tried to register a provider, we get these errors:
"You are not authorized to view this page"
"This component ID: 1068970504 has no existing versions - you need to create one first (WWV-01808)"
"Error : Failed to service the client. No further information available"
"Error: The XML parser encountered an Error, and could not complete the conversion for portlet id=6,343, it returned the following message: XML Parsing Error "
can anybody help?...Should we, after the installation, should install any patches?
    Thanks.

    Hi
When you boot from the install disk, before you proceed through the install screens, first go to the Installers menu, and choose Disk Utility. If the internal drive appears, select it and click Repair Disk. See if you get errors, and if Disk Utility is able to correct those errors. If the drive does not appear, you may have serious drive issues which another drive utility (such as DiskWarrior) may be able to correct, but it may be severe enough to necessitate replacing the drive.
Since you've already tried Erase and Install, can I assume you have a backup of any files you need? If not, if you have access to another Mac, can you restart the G5 in Firewire mode (restart with the T key held down) and connect it using a Firewire cable to your other Mac. If the G5's drive appears on the other Mac's desktop, copy across any files you need.
