Component Reuse - Usage Dependency in SLD

Hi there,
I have an issue reusing objects in the repository. I defined a usage dependency at installation time from component H to component B. I want to reuse interfaces from B.
Afterwards I reimported both B and I into the rep. I cleared tzhe cache, I refreshed and restarted the repository - but I still do'nt see the base objects from B in H - did I miss sth.? We're useing SP14.

Hi Michal,
I have an issue for how to transport the usage dependency objects from Development to Consolidation (QA).
We have done the usage dependency in the SLD for one swcv and after reimporting it into DEV from SLD , we can see the node basis objects but we are facing the problem in transporting the objects under basis objects of our new swcv to Cons(QA). other objects under the namespace of our swcv is already transported to QA.
If you have some idea then pls. let me know.

What is the advantage of linking "usage dependency" in a software component version? I'm aware that this process automatically includes objects from other s/w component. But how this is used in real life integration? An example would help in understanding better. To stress the question, lets assume component_B (contains SAP IDOCS MATMAS, CREMAS) is included as "basis components [result of usage dependency]" in components C to Z. If a segment is changed in MATMAS IDOC in source SAP system what are the steps to import the new segment into XI IR, SLD for components C to Z. Is it a complete redo or shortcut exists! Usage dependency is created at Build time and installation time

Hi,
The infrastructure guys have selected the usage dependency as Build time and Installation time, while creating software components.
"Y" SWC is created as depedency for "X" software component.
In SLD(software catalog), we are able to view the Y component as dependency in X component(at both build time and installation time). In usage dependency we are able to view Y component but when we click Y component in usage dependecy we are also able to view X component. Is there any problem with this ?
There is another issue. we are able to view basis object(in IR) in Y component but not in X component. Actually as per the above configuration basis object in IR should appear in X component.
Please refer to another forum which may give you some more idea.("BPM - Message interfaces of one component are not appearing in another comp") pasted on 17 Nov,2006.
Please could you provide us the inputs.

How to Achieve Component Reuse

This question deals with the objective of achieving component reuse in the context of the BC4J framework, MVC framework, JDeveloper, and Oracle SCM in an enterprise setting. At present we have developers in five different university departments developing MVC/BC4J applications.
The BC4J components have great potential of being reused. In very little time we will have a significant set of reusable objects: BC4J app modules, view objects, entities, validation rules, domains, etc..
Specifically, how does/would the Oracle BC4J application developers use JDeveloper, SCM, and java packages, to facilitate/encourage component visibility and reuse in an enterprise-wide setting?

Thanks for your quick response. At this point I am not asking about the mechanics. I am asking about design.
The information we are seeking deals with the intersection of JDeveloper, OSCM, BC4J and the Oracle MVC framework. (As a side note I believe there is a real need for a product integration discussion forum but such a forum does not exist.) There is virtually no in-depth information describing effective product integration usage strategies.
Our requirement is as follows. We need an integrated design for enterprise development, source management and deployment of Oracle MVC and BC4J applications using JDeveloper, OSCM, and Oracle J2EE deployment tools. The essential requirements of the needed design are to:
1. Achieve as nearly as possible a seamless flow of work from: JDeveloper projects to OSCM check-in, from OSCM checkout back to JDeveloper, and for application deployment from OSCM to OC4J.
2. Achieve a high level of enterprise-wide reuse of Oracle MVC and BC4J components (e.g. MVC processes, MVC resource sets, BC4J entities, BC4J views) by making them readily available to developers from OSCM.
To narrow the scope of the discussion lets just consider the requirements in the context of BC4J components.
Application developers will be building BC4J applications that are comprised of reusable components. When completed the applications need to be checked-in to SCM such that each reusable BC4J component is a visible member of a collection of its type--entities, views, app modules, etc. (so that developers can find and reuse the components in subsequent projects). And at the same time each BC4J application (which is comprised of a set of BC4J components) must be visible for deployment to OC4J, and visible for subsequent checkout back to JDeveloper for maintenance.
Questions:
1. Keeping the two above mentioned essential requirements in mind, from the perspective of JDeveloper, how would you organize the work into JDeveloper projects?
2. Again keeping the two above mentioned essential requirements in mind, from the perspective of SCM how would you organize SCM containers, configurations and workspaces?
3. Does any of this have implications for the selection of java packages? That is, would you use java package naming to facilitate the achievement of the requirements.
4. How should this be designed to facilitate deployment to OC4J?

CDG-01141 ERROR: Module Component Table Usage ... Table usage ... requires primary key column for referential integrity

For some strange reason when I modified a form, (commented out some code in a when-window-activated trigger) I now get the following error.
CDG-01141 ERROR: Module Component Table Usage GR1130A.CUSTOMER.GR_CUSTOMER.GC: Table usage GR_CUSTOMER requires primary key column for referential integrity
I am sure this is not related to my change, but do not know what may have caused this or how to fix it.
Anyone seen this error before? been able to fix it?

You know that Developer/Designer 6i is not certified for Windows 7, right? Also, your version is not the latest one, so you can try to install the latest patch set first.

Check if there is a PK in the table definition (not in the database, but in Designer).

can you explain how Dependency bw SLD and Integration Repository is created???

In the post installation tasks, the dependencies are added via ABAP (sldapicust and SM59) and Java (exchangeProfile and Java Admin Console)

Usage dependency - context

Hi,
in my current project I need to distribute CRM businesspartner information using XI. The business partner data in CRM has been enhanced with customer specific fields which obviously also need to be sent. I'm planning on creating my own SWCV which has a usage dependency to SWCV SAP BBPCRM 4.0. Now here is my question:
When I create a usage dependency the system wants me to specify a dependency context. There are the options "Installation Time" and "Build Time" to choose from. I neither found anything in SAP Help nor in any on the forums which tells me what the difference between these two options is. The only thing I found was posts stating to use "Installation Time". Does anybody know what the difference is ?

there's no info on the build time
so it's probably
something that only SAP uses

Not able to import software component into Integration Repository from SLD

Hi,
I am new in XI(PI). I have created Technical system, business system and software component properly.
But when I go to IR and import the software component, it gives me an error message +*'Unable to read software component versions from System Landscape Directory "sapxi:50000".
Can anyone tell me the reason for this...and solution...Please help me out...

As your question says that,your are not able to import your software component version in to IR.
First better you cross check your software component is available or not in the SLD.
Can you please go to SLD and got to search field and give your software component name and search for the availablity.If you are able to see your software component detailse and after referesh your cache.environment->clear sld data cache
and try once and also please check your SLD information like logical system name and everything and try If still your facing the same problem let me know.

Component YTD usage

Hello,
I've a requirement to get year to Date (YTD) usage for component items.
I couldn't find anything in oracle screens to get the information, Is it available anywhere in EBS OR does it need to be calculated by query?

You can go to inventory > Transactions > Transaction summaries
Enter the item or subinventory and click summarize.
Navigate to the Transaction Type tab.
You will see the quantity used in WIP component issue.

Export Software Component only without Product in SLD ?

Hi,
Can I just export software component only from SLD without product included in the zip file ?
Because currently either you export from product or software component both will be export all the component product and software component.

whenever i click button export either for product or software component both including related product or software component.
Product :
--> click export button (Hint : Export this product including all the software component).
Software Component.
--> click export button (Hint : Export this component, including the associated product and all other software component version for this product).
any other way to export separately ?

"select s.x_cnt from reported_summary s..." is using index;
"select 'Y' y from reported_summary s..." is using index;
"select <any ohter column> from reported_summary s..." is causing TABLE ACCESS FULL;
no differences in where clause, no order by at all
the index script is

Illegal component usage

Hello,
I created an SC, DC etc. on a fresh NWDI. Created the track on that SC, mde references and checked in SAP-JEE, SAP_BUILDT, SAP_JTECHS (7.00 SP7) (SDA I ttok from my Netweaver Server, had none on NWDI). And I created a new WebDynpro Project on that track with NWDS 7.00 SP 6 (may that be the cause of Problem?).
The Problem is I get on my still empty project after syncing all SC Archives:
Check for used DCs failed: Illegal component usage: compartment "MY_COMPONENT" does not use compartment "sap.com_SAP_BUILDT_1" of used DC "sap.com/tc/bi/bp/webDynpro"; using DC: myDC(MYComponent)
Any clue what that shall tell me????
I think in generell that procedure is much to complicated with going first to SLD for SC and Product, then to CMS to create a track, give references to SCs, you just have to know which you need. Then you have to check these SCs in and so on (I never understood that step at ALL why that is needed...). To much steps to make errors...

Sorry in the whole dropdown I see nothing of this three SCs. I'm at the right place to add the three SCs, but I just don't FIND them, because naming ist totally different here.

Reuse Message Interface from others software component in BPM

I have created new ccBPM scenario, in the first step always receiver step. so in this receiver i want to use message interface (IM) that already difined in others software component.
Why i can't see this MI from my Integration Process (IP) ? how to configure so i can see all the MI from others software component ?

Have u added abstract interfaces in Object area(IP).If u specify in object area u can add those interfaces to step.
If u want to add other SWCV's interfaces u vave to configure usage dependency.

Reusing Integration content

I want to reuse objects from another software component in BPM. I need to create Abstract interface based on message type from another SWCV.
But I cannot choise his SWCV in inteface creation window. I can choise object from my own SWCV.
Is there a way to reuse datatypes and message types?

Hi Sergey -
You need to define a Usage Dependency in your SWCV to the other SWCV. This is done in the SLD. Here are the steps:
- In the SLD, goto the Software Catalog. Find your Product and drill into your SWC.
- Once in your SWC, click on Usage Dependencies. Select InstallationTime as the Dependency Context.
- Click on Define Dependencies button and select the SWCV you're trying to create a dependency to (use filter to help you find it). Once, selected, click on Create.
- Now goto the Integration Repository and re-import your SWC (not the dependent one). You should now see a node called Basis Objects in your SWCV. You can now reuse the objects in the dependent SWC.
