Component size do not display correctly

When we put an input text component on a page without resizing it, it takes a default size in the visual page designer, but not in the JSP. thus, when it is displayed in the browser, it takes the browser's default size for this component, which is different from the visual page designer default size.
Workaround : always resize a component, even if the default size suit your needs. Resizing twice to revert to the default size is Ok:
Bug removal : there are several ways to remove this bug :
1) Change the default size to match what is used by Firefox and IE (not very robust because although those two browsers use the same default size, it might be different in other browsers or futur versions.)
2) Make the default size explicit in the visual page designer AND in the JSP (better)
3) Idem #2 plus make it equal to the default size in the main browsers (even better)
4) Idem #3 + make the default size user configurable. The best way to do this, in my opinion, would be to register the default size when a component that was just inserted is resized. Il would make it very easy to insert a series of component with the same size.
Someting else that is missing is a way to easily insert a series of identical components. Here are two suggestions :
1) When the user clicks on a component in the palette and then in the page, the mouse pointer should remain the cross, making it possible to click several time and insert several components without returning to the palette. Pressing ESC (for example) would return to the default mouse pointer.
2) I should be possible to drag/duplicate instead of drag/move. A good solution would be to use Ctrl+drag to duplicate.

Hi,
Thanks for your observation and valuable suggestion. I have filed a bug on your behalf.
Thanks
MJ

  • RegionRenderer encodeAll The region component with id: pt1:r1 has detected a page fragment with multiple root components. Fragments with more than one root component may not display correctly in a region and may have a negative impact on performance.

    Hi,
    I am using JDEV 11.1.2.1.0
I am getting the following error :-
<RegionRenderer> <encodeAll> The region component with id: pt1:r1 has detected a page fragment with multiple root components. Fragments with more than one root component may not display correctly in a region and may have a negative impact on performance. It is recommended that you restructure the page fragment to have a single root component.
Piece of code is for region is:-
       <f:facet name="second">
                                                <af:panelStretchLayout id="pa1"
                                                                       binding="#{backingBeanScope.Assign.pa1}">
                                                    <f:facet name="center">
                                                        <af:region value="#{bindings.tfdAssignGraph1.regionModel}" id="r1"
                                                                   binding="#{backingBeanScope.Assign.r1}"/>
                                                    </f:facet>
                                                </af:panelStretchLayout>
                                            </f:facet>
How do I resolve it ?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
I see at least 3 errors
    1. <RegionRenderer> <encodeAll> The region component with id: pt1:r1 has detected a page fragment with multiple root components.
the page fragment should only have a single component under the jsp:root tag. If you see more than one, wrap them in e.g. an af:panelGroupLayout or af:group component
    2. SAPFunction.jspx/.xml" has an invalid character ".".
check the document (you can open it in JDeveloper if the customization was a seeded one. Seems that editing this file smething has gone bad
    3. The expression "#{bindings..regionModel}" (that was specified for the RegionModel "value" attribute of the region component with id "pePanel") evaluated to null.
"pageeditorpanel" does seem to be missing in the PageDef file of the page holding the region

  • Certain special characters do not display correctly in Firefox ( font COLOR="#1f1a17" FACE="Symbol" SIZE="3" ¬ /font ). Is there a fix?

Certain special characters which display correctly in Explorer do not display correctly in Firefox. Example: <font COLOR="#1f1a17" FACE="Symbol" SIZE="3">¬</font>
    Is there a fix?

The symbol font usually doesn't work in Firefox, a website needs to use an Unicode replacement or an HTML entity to specify such a character.

  • Report does not display correctly when exported to adobe

    Post Author: mgisonda
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
Hopefully someone can help me. I am currently running Crystal Reports profession version 10. I have applied service pack 1 and recently service pack 6. I am having a problem with the display of a report within adobe. My report is a bit complex. It is a 8.5x11 one page landscape report. It is set up in a grid format with multiple lines and boxes drawn on it. Here is the report information: Report Definition----
Number of Database Fields:   144     Number of On-Demand Formulas:   40     UFLs in use:   None     Page N of M Used:   No     File Format Schema:   10.2.0    I created the report using CR developer. I use the report within a web project. The user requests the report and it returns to the user, an adobe file of the report. However, this is where I am having trouble. On my local development machine, the report displays fine. In CR developer, the report displays fine. When I export the report to Adobe from the CR Developer, it exports fine. BUT when I run the report from my web site, the adobe file that is returned is broken up over 42 pages. What seems to be actually happening is the return adobe file seems to think that the page size is 2in X 4in.. Where it got that, I don't know. The server running IIS is a windows server 2003. It has adobe 8.0 reader on it. I also have Crystal 10 Server Distribution loaded on it. And I have loaded CR10 Service pack 6 on that as well. Below is the web code that is used to display the report:Imports CrystalDecisions.Shared'Imports CrystalDecisions.CrystalReportsImports CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.EngineImports CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportClassPublic Class PrintInspectionLayout    Inherits System.Web.UI.Page   Private Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load        Dim mNotInSpringDesign As String        Dim mPartType As String        mNotInSpringDesign = Request.QueryString("NotInSpringDesign")        If mNotInSpringDesign = "TRUE" Then            mStockCode = Request.QueryString("StockCode")            lblNotInSpringDesign.Text = "Stock Code #: " & mStockCode & " does not exist in Spring Design."            lblNotInSpringDesign.Visible = True            Response.Write("<br><br><br><br><br><font color='blue'><center><a href='SpringDesignWildCardSearch.aspx'>Go To Search Page</a></center></font>")        Else            mStockCode = Request.QueryString("StockCode")            Dim pList As ParameterValues = New ParameterValues            Dim paramName, paramValue As String            Dim pV As ParameterDiscreteValue = New ParameterDiscreteValue            Dim Report As ReportDocument= New ReportDocument            Dim expOpts As ExportOptions = New ExportOptions            Dim pdfRtfWordFormatOpts As PdfRtfWordFormatOptions = expOpts.CreatePdfRtfWordFormatOptions            Dim expFormatOpts As ExportFormatOptions = expOpts.ExportFormatOptions            expOpts.ExportFormatType = ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat            mPartType = Request.QueryString("PartType")            'SELECT THE INSPECTION LAYOUT TYPE TO PRINT            Select Case mPartType                Case Is = "C"                    Report.Load(MapPath("./Reports/CompressionLayout.rpt"))                    'Report.Load(MapPath("./Reports/PCAR.rpt"))                Case Is = "E"                    Report.Load(MapPath("./Reports/ExtensionLayout.rpt"))                Case Is = "T"                    Report.Load(MapPath("./Reports/TorsionLayout.rpt"))                Case Is = "W"                    Report.Load(MapPath("./Reports/WasherLayout.rpt"))                Case Is = "F"                    Report.Load(MapPath("./Reports/FreeFormLayout.rpt"))                Case Else            End Select            pV.Value = mStockCode            pList.Add(pV)            Report.DataDefinition.ParameterFields("StockCode").ApplyCurrentValues(pList)            Response.ClearContent()            Response.ClearHeaders()            Response.ContentType = "Application/pdf"            Report.ExportToHttpResponse(expOpts, Response, False, "")            Report.Close()        End If    End Sub    Any ideas as to the solution? Hi Paul
You're more likely to get an answer to this if you post in the UNIX forum.
By the looks of it, you may have a problem with your fonts.

Try this without the border images and it will work in all browsers with increased text size. That's assuming eBay supports embedded CSS styles (which I'm not convinced they do).  Inline styles are safer IMHO.

  • Management studio dialogs not displayed correct in high resolution

I am using a Lenovo Yoga2 with 3200x1800 screen resolution, and some dialog boxes are not displayed correct, like the Select backup file dialog that doesn't display directory and the file list. Is there any fix for this?

I'm having the same issue. Let me try to elaborate a little, providing you with more details.
    Laptop, Dell Precision M3800
Resolution, 3200x1800 (getting more common on new high-end laptops with 15+ inches)
    OS, Windows 8.1
Application, SSMS aka SQL Server Management Studio - version 2014 (earlier version has same issue)
SQL Server Engine irrelevant (tested with 2014 and below - all the same)
I understand you want to see a screenshot, but really, it doesn't make sense as you won't be able to reproduce the error if you are watching on e.g. a FullHD screen. therefore, I've taken a screenshot and resized it to a FullHD size so you get a better feel
of the issue - however, I have to mention text will look a lot more crisp on a 3200x1800 screen (that's kind of why you want a screen with high PPI). That said, it's still way too small to look at.
If you view below image on a 15.4 inch screen with FullHD, you get a feel of how I work with SSMS today.

  • JPG images not displayed correctly in Bridge and Photoshop (Mac OS)

(Note: I have copied the content of this query from the Creative Suites forum where I originally opened it.)
I am using CS4 under OSX 10.4.11 on a PowerMac G5 Quad with 23" Apple cinema display. Images which have been captured as JPG are displayed fine by Preview, but when opened in Bridge, Camera Raw or Photoshop. the colours are all "washed out". The attached screen capture should give an idea of the difference, with the upper being Camera Raw (image settings) and the lower being Preview. My monitor has been calibrated and I'm using sRGB IEC61966-2.1 colour space in Camera Raw and Photoshop. The colours displayed by Preview are pretty close to "real life". I find it virtually impossible to adjust the colours in Photoshop to get back to anything similar.
After opening the image in Photoshop without adjustment, and Save As JPEG with embedded color profile, Preview displays the new image the same as Photoshop. Save As JPEG without embedded color profile, and Preview displays this copy just like the original. It seems that Photoshop is making different (incorrect) assumptions about what color space to use when there is no embedded color profile. Shouldn't it assume sRGB like virtually everything else (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SRGB)? Or is its interpretation of sRGB incorrect? How can I fix this?
Re: JPG images not displayed correctly in Bridge and Photoshop

…If there is someone out there who has experience of obtaining decent colour management in CS4 on a Power PC, I would really like to know how you achieved it.
That would be yours truly, and I hasten to reply because I may have some insights that can help you too.
Just get it it out of the way, here's my setup:
Photoshop 11.0.2 ("CS4"); VersionCue disabled and uninstalled.—2.5 GHz Power Mac (PPC) G5-Quad; 16GB RAM; mutant, flashed 550MHz nVidia GeForce 7800GTX 1,700MHz 512MB VRAM; ATTO ExpressPCI UL5D LP SCSI card; Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11 and Leopard 10.5.8 boot drives; Spotblight, Dashboard and Time Machine permanently disabled; dual 22" CRT monitors; USB wireless 'n' available but connected to the Internet via wired Ethernet; 1 FW flatbed scanner; 2 SCSI scanners (one tabloid-size transparency scanner and a film scanner); various internal & external HDs; FW Epson 2200 and Ethernet Samsung ML-2850ND printers; 2 X Back-UPS RS 1500 XS units.
I can unambiguously and in good faith represent to you that my color management, from capture to print, is as spot-on as anyone with any kind of setup can hope to achieve.  Unequivocally and without qualifications.
Now, first things first:  Forget about trying to synchronize color management across the point applications lumped together only by Adobe marketing fiat into a variety of meaningless "creative suites".  Concentrate on Photoshop.  Do not try to use Bridge to synchronize anything.
The "suites" are a totally artificial construct created by Adobe bean counters and marketing types.  The point applications (i.e. the individual programs clumsily bundled together, e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) are developed independently by separate engineering teams that are not only not in the same building, but in different cities, different states of the American Union, and even in different countries.  They have very little communication among them, if any, as evidenced by repeated posts in these forums by Photoshop engineering staff urging us, the end users, to let the other teams know in their own forums that a given problem exists and is actually affecting our work.
Enough said about the cause of the problem.  The end result is that Color Management is at very, very different levels of progress and sophistication in each individual point application, with only Photoshop fully entitled to be considered state of the art.
Secondly, a disclaimer:  I have been hanging on to my CRT monitors and take care of them as Jascha Heifetz used to take care of his Stradivarius.  I don't know what I will do if I manage to outlive the usefulness and accuracy of my CRTs (unlikely at this point).  I have despaired in futile efforts to bring the luminosity of any LCD monitor down to where I would feel comfortable calibrating and profiling it.  I believe my monitors are the foundation of my color management efforts.
Especially if you have one of the extreme wide-gamut LCD or LED monitors, you'll face an uphill battle.
Be careful to avoid any version 4 icc profiles, whether canned or generated by your calibration software.  Stick to version2 icc profiles.  Ask the manufacturer of your calibration software/hardware if in doubt.
Here are some not-too-recent, but thoroughly representative screen shots of the calibration results I obtain with my monitors, which I calibrate and profile often and regularly (I validate the calibration at least several times per month).
In a nutshell, my color management practices and settings mirror those described by Bruce Fraser, Jeff Schewe, Andrew Rodney and Gary Ballard's site.  I have learned from all of them.
My working color space is ProPhoto RGB.  I choose to work with PSD and PSB files.  As a long-time, rabid JPEG hater, I only rarely deal with JPEGs, using them sporadically to illustrate a point in this forum or elsewhere in the web.  My main output consists of prints.
I only deal with tagged image files (files with an embedded color profile) and often recommend beating up with a baseball bat any moron that hands you an untagged file—figuratively of course, but I find the expression gets my point across unambiguously.
Following is a screen shot of some of my pertinent settings:
Note that I have never bought into the "suite" concept myself.  I do have and routinely use Adobe Illustrator 10.x, InDesign 2.x and Acrobat Professional 8.x, but they are all older, independent versions of each point application, licensed at different times.
Be further advised, that the answer to many problems offered by Adobe engineers often is not to install VersionCue, or uninstall it, or at least disable it.
Also, as outlined at the beginning of this post, concentrate on Photoshop, not on synchronizing applications that can't really communicate with each other, despite the claims of Adobe marketing hacks to the contrary.
One big caveat, do not fall into this trap:

…I believe my problem has nothing to do with my monitor profile, for several reasons, but…
…It seems extremely unlikely to me that…
You either want to learn, or you don't.  You either want to solve your problems, or you don't.
When you start arguing instead of studying, questioning advice instead of following it and detecting where you went wrong, you're on the right track to nowhere.  That attitude will get you there fast.  Remember you are the one with the problem, and only you can acquire the discipline to learn how to solve it.
Go ahead and ask me anything that is not clear, just don't argue with me please, and don't tell me why you think Fraser, Rodney, Ballard and I are wrong.  You see, I am not experiencing any problem that needs fixing.  I have an interest in helping you, but not in hearing about your speculations, theories or conclusions.
    Good luck.

  • Slideshow images will not display correctly on mobile phone

    Hello,
I have a website which I used several slideshows, in areas I would typically just used a rectangle and fill with photo.  This was done because my client wants to be able to update the images through business catalyst.  Unfortunately, when viewed on a mobile phone (I am using iOS 7) the slide show images do not display correctly.
What can be done to fix this?  Is there another workaround I should try?
    Thanks!

    Hi Nicole
The images that you are using on parties page are stretched , if you check the image frame you can see that.
As a result the image frame is stretched over the side image , they are not showing properly. If you resize from Muse end , then also it would not be fixed because Muse remembers the image size as you have inserted and when viewed , Muse stretches the image to original size as how it was inserted.
Please resize the images outside Muse , use any image editor like Photoshop and then use the exact dimension of the image frame on page.
    This would resolve the issue.
    Thanks,
    Sanjit

    Hi,
I usually only use the GroupLayout when using a GUI builder like the one in NetBeans.
If I need to layout something manually I usually use a combination of the other layout managers.
Sometimes I combine the two: eg. static layout with the GUI builder, dynamic layout by hand
But if you want to use the GroupLayout manually, check:
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/layout/group.html
    Otherwise check:

  • Websites not displayed correctly

    Hi,
since i updated to Safari 6.0.2, many websites are not displayed correctly anymore. instead of pictures i see a blue question mark, sometimes the whoe layout is a mess. this concerns multiple websites, alse like facebook or youtube. when i refresh, it mostly orks, so i think it´s not a plugin-issue
Curiously, also in Mail, some Emails are not displayed correctly.
Thank´s for any suggestions or ideas how to solve that.
    Christoph

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then either copy or drag it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
Copy or drag — do not type — the line below into the Terminal window, then press return:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}'
Post the lines of output (if any) that appear below what you just entered (the text, please, not a screenshot.) You can omit the final line ending in “$”.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix)|edu\.mit|org\.(amavis|apache|cups|isc|ntp|postfix|x)/{print $3}'
This time, you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|edu\.mit|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'
    Step 4
    ls -1A /e*/mach* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts 2> /dev/null
Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' 2> /dev/null
Remember, steps 1-5 are all drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste, whichever you prefer — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • Div header tag - not displaying correctly

I thought I had resolved an issue with a div header tag, but - as per a reply in my 'text as gif' thread, possibly not!
The header contains three images; a logo, a banner (text), and a picture of a castle.  These should display in a  line.
When I first set it up, I realised that the castle picture was normally ending up below the other two on smaller screens etc.
So I changed the dims for my div container from min 760px/max 1260px, to a set width (960px).  I then rejigged the three images so the widths were within 960px, with some to spare for the spacing (total widths of the three are 900: hspacing another 20 pixels).  There is no padding/borders defined.  Therefore the total should be well within the 960 width (?).
It looks fine on my PC (widescreen); in 3 browsers, using the restore down menu command (ie to make it not full screen), and by  using the Dreamweaver multiscreen preview (phone, tablet, smaller desktop).  It wasn't ideal (as scrolling required), but at least meant the header (and the rest of the screen) displayed correctly, ie in a horizontal line (and then sidebar - content - sidebar).
If I set my container width much smaller, most of the screen will be green (the body) in big screens.
If I rejig the dimensions, it's all a bit hit and miss (and why don't the current dimensions work?).
Do I need to define the width of the header (as well as the container)?
    Help!  Thank you
    http://hertfordcarnival.org.uk/dev/Index.html

Hi there, I started off using one big image, but it didn't look right with regards to size and placing (ie I wanted the logo on the left edge, the castle on the right edge, etc). When you say slice, what do you mean?  One image in from fireworks, and then ... ? Thanks again

Certainly don't use 'vspace' and 'hspace' to position the images. If you want to use 3 seperate images start by setting them us as one complete image then slice it into 3 images. Then use the following css to position the images side by side. #header img If the total sum of the width of the images is the same or does not exceed 960px then the images should be in a nice row side by side. They will actually sit side by side without using 'float' but you'll get a small gap between them which will be added to the sum of the width which will exceed 960px causing the third image to drop onto the next line.

  • Firefox is not displayed correctly on USB-screen

Firefox 4.0 is not displayed correctly on USB-screen (Samsung SyncMaster LD 190). Firefox 3.6 was displayed correctly.
looks like an incompatibility problem between UbiSync and FF 4.0

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
*Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration
If you have made changes to Advanced font settings like increasing the minimum/default font size then try the default minimum setting "none" and the default font size 16 in case the current setting is causing problems.
*Firefox > Preferences > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own fonts.
*Firefox > Preferences > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced: [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
It is better not to increase the minimum font size, but to use an extension to set the default page zoom to prevent issues with text not being displayed properly.
You may have zoomed the page(s) by accident.
Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.
    *<b>View > Zoom > Reset</b> (Ctrl/Command+0 (zero))

  • Firefox math symbols not displaying correctly

Firefox math symbols not displaying correctly and special characters not display correctly
Example: triangle symbol display "D" , but other browser is displaying fine.
    Please give me a solution.
    Thanks & Regards
    Ajay Kumar

This page uses the Symbol font to display the triangles.
    <pre><nowiki>font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Symbol;mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman";color:black</nowiki></pre>
It works for me on Linux, but probably not on Windows.<br />
Websites shouldn't be using this Symbol font, but use the Unicode replacements instead: Δ (&amp;#916; &amp;Delta;).
