Component TV Wiring

Is it possible to hook up a component cable from the 6416 DVR to a non-HDTV that has
a component input on Video Input 1?  My DVD works fine with a component cable to the TV
through my A/V unit.  If I connect from the 6416 with a component cable I get diagonal
lines as picture output.  Sound is fine using optical cable from DVR to A/V.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

When you use the DVR with composite or S-Video it uses the default SD resolution. But when you use the component output it is probably a resolution your TV does not support. Go into the DVR settings and set the output for a resolution your TV supports. You may need to use composite cable to do this so you can see the screen.

  • Displaying a graph from a signal generator

    I am extremely new to labview and I am still trying to navigate my way around the basics.
    How do I display a graph using a signal generator?  I am using NI USB-6251 and I have connected the signal generator to AI.0.  I used the input daq which turned into a task.  Used the read component and wired it to a graph indicator, but I am not showiing the waveform. What am I doing wrong?

    Hello eckhartp,
    My recommendation if you are just getting started would be to begin with one of the analog input examples included with LabVIEW.  From within LabVIEW, you can select "Find Examples..." from the Help menu, which will bring up the Example Finder.  I would recommend taking a look at "Voltage - Continuous Input.vi", which can be found by searching in the finder.  You should be able to select your analog input channel from the pull down, and see your data on the graph.  Use one of these examples as a template for your project.
    Alternatively, here is a good reference page for DAQmx general information:  http://www.ni.com/white-paper/5434/en
    Feel free to post any follow-up questions you may have!

  • Mountain Lion drops WIRED ethernet (mail,ical,steam lose connection)

    Since im on 10.8 i cant play one real game on Steam because i get network drops that cut my connection to my fritz.box.
    After this i cant connect to things like ical or mail and have to restart my mac, in mail i have to re-generate a new password for gmail.
    the steam chat or msn dont shows any sign of connection lost, so this is a bit confusing.
    running a static ip network in 10.10.10.1-10.10.10.200, where the mac is 10.10.10.20.
    Console spams
    CalenderAgent : Unexpected EOF, returning last token as fallback
    Contacts :
    Got error Verbindung zum Server konnte nicht hergestellt werden. (-1004) on subscription request (connection = <NSURLConnection: 0x7fb18d0ab100>)
    Mail cant connect, requests a new password, which is rly crap, i have to create a new password with google every hour when mail try a connect after that network lag/drop whatever.
    but a.e. steam chat is running fine and dont get any disconnect.

    Any ideas

    Update: I think I've pinpointed this problem to the Time Capsule.  I've replaced the Time Capsule with my Airport Express, and everything works flawlessly.  So:
    Cable Modem -> MacBook Air (via ethernet cable) = Works fine
    Cable Modem -> Airport Express -> MacBook Air = Works fine
    Cable Modem -> Time Capsule -> MacBook Air = Doesn't work
    I've reset the Time Capsule to factory defaults (holding down reset button while plugging in power) = no change
    When I first plug the Time Capsule into the Cable Modem, I can get internet for few seconds.  But eventually the "Internet" status light in Airport Utility goes yellow and I can't access the internet at all.
    It would be interesting to try a different cable modem with the Time Capsule but I don't have one.
    Time to call Apple again I think.

  • SOLVED: W510 Wired Network Stops working

    I had a problem with a W510 I ordered with Windows 7 32 bit. At random times, the exclamation point icon would appear over the network icon in the system tray, and the network adapter would no longer be recognized. I could use the built in Windows facilities to reset the adapter, but it would quickly fail again. The only cure was to restart the machine, which was annoying. Wireless networking was not affected - just the wired Ethernet connection.
    I downloaded the latest drivers from the Lenovo site and that did not fix it. I have had numerous Thinkpads over the past 12 years and have NEVER had any sort of hardware fault before, so I doubted that it was a hardware fault. Therefore I wiped the machine clean and installed 64 Bit Windows 7 instead.
    The first problem I had after installing Win7 x64 was that the internal USB controller was not recognized by Windows. Therefore, USB devices (i.e. my thumb drive with all the x64 Lenovo drivers on) were no longer recognized. Therefore, I burned the x64 drivers to a CD and used that instead.
    All the devices including the USB controller then came to life, and it looks like the problem has been completely solved.
    I post this, in case anybody else has such a problem.

    I just started seeing this issue with my pen silo.  The Wacom tablet component has completely stopped working, and I'm seeing "USB device not recognized" every time I insert and draw out the pen.  My guess is that all the peripheral components in the tablet are connected to the motherboard via crappy silver trace ribbon cables, and they're susceptible to the tiniest amount of flex, heat, and disruption.
    Since the USB device is, at least in my case, still operating well enough to report that it is having trouble, I'm guessing that the issue is transient, but that doesn't fix my problem - and probably won't fix yours.  I'd recommend getting a refund.
    Here's how to see if the device is reporting a problem:
    1) Wait until you see the "USB device not recognized" message again.
    2) CTRL+X -> Device Manager
    3) Other Devices -> double-click "Unknown device"
    4) Go to "Details" tab
    5) Select "DevNode status" from the drop-down; the Value pane will have DN_HAS_PROBLEM on one of the lines.
    6) Select "Problem code" from the drop-down; the Value pane will likely show "0000002B", or Microsoft USB problem code 43 in decimal.

  • Alert: Could not unitialize the application's security component.

    At the end of November, I replaced on old Logitech wired keyboard and mouse and replaced it with a repurposed GE wireless keyboard and mouse. I tried, unsuccessfully, to remove the SetPoint software but I did install the GE drivers. After rebooting, when I tried to open Firefox (limited account) the following Alert window popped up:
    "Could not initialize the application's security component. The most likely cause is problems with files in your application's profile directory. Please check that this directory has no read/write restrictions and your hard disk is not full or close to full. It is recommended that you exit the application and fix the problem. If you continue to use this session, you might see incorrect application behaviour when accessing security features."
    The same alert popped up when I tried to open Thunderbird.
    I checked and could not figure out what was wrong. I referred the problem to Bleeping Computer for assistance and have been working with them to run malware scans on my computer. Nothing of significance has yet been found.
    In the meantime, I discovered that the profiles could be shared in my Admin account and they work perfectly. That is where this is being prepared but it is not where I would prefer to operate on a regular basis.
    I found a fix in you forums that suggested deleting the cert8.db file from the profile and letting it be rebuilt at the next invocation. I did that and it had absolutely no effect on my problem.
    I have to get this fixed so I can move on to upgrading/dual-booting Win7.

    Delete the cert8.db file in the Thunderbird profile folder.<br />
    This will remove all intermediate certificates that Thunderbird has stored.

  • Component Video from a Mac Pro

    Hey All, i have a dual 2.66 mac pro with the Nvidia geforce 7300GT. What i'm trying to do is go from DVI to Component out to my 42" plasma to watch videos from the computer. The methods I've tried have results in an image of the desktop that is purple and flickering. Has anyone else done this? Or what are my other options. The plasma only has VGA, Component, HDMI and composite inputs, and I'd really like to go component so i don't have to take the monitor off the wall and re-wire.
    Any light that can be shed would be greatly appreciated.
    PS - To give a little back story I had a PC with a component out, so that is what is currently cabled to the tv, but the PC had a meltdown so now i'm converting fully to the MAC that I have had. I also have a HIS Digital x850 PCI-E graphics card from the pc that I have read can be put into the mac, but I'm not sure if i can do this or not. Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Message was edited by: lava10t2

    No I understand the video card doesn't handle audio, let me tell you my pc setup that I had and you tell me if I can do this on a Mac.
    Video wise I had a graphics card with a DVI and VGA port, along with a port that adapted to a component video output (3 RCA Plugs, Red Green Blue). That cable I fed to my 42" plasma into one of its component video inputs.
    Audio wise I split the normal audio card output (headphone plug), one went to the computer speakers, the other went from headphone jack to 2 RCA plugs (right and left), which went I fed into the left and right audio channels of the plasma's component input alongside the 3 component video plugs.
    Is there any way to do this with my Mac? The reason I really want to component is because everything is already wired and I won't have to take the monitor off the wall. Also, I’d like to go component because it seems like it is easier to get the audio into the monitor using component, as I don't see an audio input if I plug in VGA, and don't see a way to get audio into the chain if I go HDMI.
    Thanks.

  • Video wont play in custom component sub-state

    I can't get a video to work while in a sub-state... Basically I have links that play to each sub-state in the component, and one contains a video. When I test it the video will not play not do the buttons on the wire-frame work. Any suggestions?

    Hummm....
    Have you tried having the video and its controls placed at the top level of the project and see if they work there? That will make sure that the video is playable and the controls are wired up correctly. If that works then we can see if it is something else...
    Chris

  • Simultaneous HDMI & Component

    Will the AppleTV simultaneously output both component and HDMI? I can test this, but with my system it's quite a hassle to get behind the system and attack the wiring. I'm hoping someone else has already tested this.
    Jim

    Hi,
    Seems like it's not possible to use both outputs simultaneously. One must disconnect hdmi-cable to get anything out from component output. Sad but true.

  • Passing function to a custom component

    Hey so I have button that is in a custom component, say:
    <mx:HBox width="200" height="72" xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml">
        <mx:Button width="72" height="72"  styleName="{buttonStyleName}"/>
        <mx:Text text="{description}" width="100%" height="100%" textAlign="justify"/>
    </mx:HBox>
    And on another file i use it simply like this:
    <local:LabelComponent buttonStyleName="componentRssButton"  />
    However, I want the button on my custom component draggable, so I would like to pass a mouseMove handler but i could not find  a way to do that. Of course that easiest way is to have my whole custom component draggable like so:
    <local:LabelComponent mouseMove="componentRssButton"  />
    but i want the button in the custom component the only one draggable.
    Thanks.

    it's wired to pass a function.
    EventListener should be the way to go.
    give your button an id, say btn1
    <mx:Button id='btn1' width="72" height="72"  styleName="{buttonStyleName}"/>
    and in your code
    <local:LabelComponent id='myComp' creationComplete='makeButtonDraggable()' buttonStyleName="componentRssButton"  />
    <script>
    function makeButtonDraggable():vd
         myComp.btn1.addEventListener(mouseMove, componentRssButton);

  • Wired memory does not clear after safe boot

    My iMac started freezing up about a month ago when I was watching a video and would only boot up in safe mode. I noticed in Activity Monitor that 5.30 GB of memory was "wired" (out of 8 GB total). I was able to boot normally after cleaning the caches.
    The problem has gotten worse and the iMac now freezes after a short while of playing video.  As of now I can ONLY boot up in safe mode and Activity Monitor always shows 5.30 GB of wired memory, however no processes are using more than 1% of CPU (other than Activity Monitor itself).
    Today I downloaded and tried a couple of memory cleaner apps just so I could reboot normally, but the wired memory (5.30 GB) won't budge.  After doing some research I learned about the kextstat command to see what memory is being wired.  This is the process using the most memory (assuming that longer numbers are the largest):
    71    0 0xffffff7f80e98000 0x1aa000   0x1aa000   com.apple.kext.AMD4800Controller (8.1.2) <70 69 10 9 5 4 3 1>
    Also, here are the last 2 lines from the SYSTEM LOG just before the freeze (each line was repeated 7 times):
    7/2/13 12:44:23.325 PM coreaudiod[272]: Enabled automatic stack shots because audio IO is inactive
    7/2/13 12:45:21.280 PM coreaudiod[272]: Disabled automatic stack shots because audio IO is active
    Any suggested next steps in troubleshooting are appreciated.

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
    These steps are to be taken while booted in safe mode.
    Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
    Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
    Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
    Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
    Triple-click the line of text below to select it:
    for k in {,/S*}/L*/E*/{,.?}*.kext; do test -f "$k/Contents/Info.plist" && /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Print :CFBundleIdentifier" "$_" | egrep -qv "apple|Accusys|ArcMSR|ATTO|CalDigit|HighPoint|hp-fax|JMicron|print|SoftRAID|stex" && echo $k; done | open -f -a TextEdit
    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. If the command produced no output, the window will be empty. Post the contents of the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window), if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. You can then close the TextEdit window. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that. No typing is involved in this step.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    sudo defaults read com.apple.loginwindow LoginHook 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
    This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
    Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    Repeat with this line:
    ls -1A /e*/{la,mach}* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts .la* 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit

  • Wired dot1X session termination

    Hi all,
    Question about wired dot1X session termination.
    After a client successfully done on the wired dot1x authentication, my authZ rule is follow by the VLAN assignement whereby DHCP server will provision a client IP to the PC.
    But when the client doing these 2 action:
    01. after get connected, disable the IEEE 802.1x option on the PC Ethernet port setting
    02. after get connected, disable, then enable the PC Ethernet port setting  (bouncing)
    I found out these 2 actions will still get the user in authorized state, because it is not link down or port-bounce action. Session still persist at client PC.
    My question :
    Anything i can configure either on the switch or ISE will automatic trigger an action like send an EAPOL-Logoff message, causing the switch port to change to the unauthorized state?
    Thanks
    Component in use:
    client OS: window 7
    PEAP-MsCHAP V2
    authentication mode : iser or computer authetnication
    no check on single sign on
    no check remember credential for connection each time logged on
    no check fallback to unauthorized network access
    ISE 1.1.3 with patch 4
    Switchport configuration
    interface G0/1
    switchporGt mode access
    switchport access vlan 61
    authentication port-control auto
    dot1x pae authenticator
    authentication host-mode multi-auth
    authentication order dot1x
    authentication priority dot1x mab
    no shutdown
    end

    For #2 - The session should terminate and restart if the Ehternet adapter on the PC bounces. Are you saying that even though the user disables/enables the adapter, the session remains active in ISE/NAD?
    For #1 - I am not really sure as I have never played with this before. My guess would be "No" because once ISE sends the "Access Accept" back to the NAD (your switch in this scenario), the NAD won't know if you are disabling 802.1x. The EAPoL conversation already took place so there is no more 802.1x type traffic coming in and out of the NAD/Client on that port.
    I suppose you can set a re-autn and inactivity timer on both the NAD and ISE but keep in mind that it is not recommended for those timers to be set at low values (minimum 1 hour). Otherwise you could overwhelm your ISE servers depending on how large your environment is.
    You will need to add the following commands on the switchport:
    authentication periodic
    authentication timer reauthenticate server
    authentication timer inactivity server
    Then in ISE you will need to set the re-auth and the idle timers under the "Authorization Profile"
    Another thing to keep in mind is that you should control what your users can and cannot do on their workstations via GPO (Group Policy). In normal circumstances a regular user should not have the privileges to disable 802.1x or their Ethernet adapter :)
    Hope this helps!

  • Add component to existing GUI

    hi,
    I have created simple GUI with one panel containing button and textfield:
    public class GUIClass{
    private JTextField textField1;
    private JButton button1;
    private JPanel mainPanel;
    private final JFrame frame;
    public GUIClass() {
    frame = new JFrame("hello");
    button1.addActionListener(new pushbutton());
    public static void main(String[] args){
    GUIClass GU = new GUIClass();
    GU.frame.setContentPane(GU.mainPanel);
    GU.frame.pack();
    GU.frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.DISPOSE_ON_CLOSE);
    GU.frame.setSize(400,400);
    GU.frame.setVisible(true);
    class pushbutton implements ActionListener {
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ae){
    textField1.setText(textField1.getText()+"hello");
    my question is, if I want to add a new button (or any other simple component) after pressing button1, what should I do?
    thanks
    Koby

    hi,
    The two operations ( YourPanel.add(newComponent); YourPanel.validate();) are working, but I can see the changes only after I change the window size or minimize and restore it(wired).
    In addition I recive a list of errors from the-> YourPanel.add(newComponent);
    note: I created the GUI with GUI designer and probably I should do something more in order to insert new component to the panel ?!
    Do you have any idea?
    thanks
    Koby

  • Sony VPL - CS5 Projector Component input

    Hello. I have a Sony VPL - CS5 Projector, and a Sony BDP-BX37 Blu Ray Disc Player.
    I want to use these two items together.
    The projector is an older model, and does not have an HDMI input, although the manual does state that the VGA input can also be used as a component input.
    I tried making an adaptor wired as follows....
    Pin 1=Pr+
    Pin 2=Y+
    Pin 3=Pb+
    Pin 6=Pr-
    Pin 7=Y-
    Pin 8=Pb-
    The projector manual described the above pinning as....
    Pin 1=R
    Pin 2=G
    Pin 3=B
    Pin 6=R-
    Pin 7=G-
    Pin 8=B-
    While I do get a picture, i only get green.
    Obviously I have done something wrong.
    I have double checked the integrity of my connections using a circuit tester, and even though all connectors are fine, the projector only recognized the input from Pin 2/7.
    Additionally, when I manually change the input setting from "Input A/Computer" to "Input A/Component", the projector does not recognize any signal at all.
    All that being said, my question to you is how do I properly connect the 3 component output connections (Pr, Pb, Y) from my Blu Ray player to this projector.
    All I need is to be told which pins on the VGA connector correspond to the positive and negative connections Pb, Pr and Y of the Blu Ray player.
    Thanks in advance for your help with this, and have a great day.
    ....Tony M

    Hello Tony,
    Welcome to the User Discussion Forums.
    Unfortunately we cannot release the pin out or wiring diagrams via the forums , If you require the service manual that includes all pin outs and schematics of the BDP-BX37 you would need to visit our
    [url=https://iamc.sel.sony.com/idm/forms/pages/ascLoginMMN.jsp?TYPE=33554433&REALMOID=06-90ae0017-0fff-4c7e-add0-53dbdc5f5833&GUID=&SMAUTHREASON=0&METHOD=GET&SMAGENTNAME=-SM-Q6Ra9hpD%2f%2bCj41T9KSl0chiq3qLamKiryQsLwNZIDNGx1BFl7e5D7SkmodTJyjyc&TARGET=-SM-https%3a%2f%2fdbiz.sel.sony.com%2fsecure%2fasc%2fweb%2findex.do:3swk4xhc]Sony ASC Portal Log In page[/url:3swk4xhc]
    The only suggestion we can offer over the forums is to use an HDMI to Component (YPbPr) converter. We cannot guarantee results , nor support the converter box, however this would likely be your best option to attempt to connect to the Projector for output.

  • Component "power dissipation" report using Multisim

    Hello,
    I have a large design that has 66 resistors and 38 transistors.  As a sanity check, I'd like to be able to have Multisim let me know the dissipated power in each of these components.  I know how to do this on a component by component basis in the DC Operating Point setup.  Is there an easier way to get this info without creating a model/device parameter for "P" for all of these components?  It would seem I'm overlooking something...
    Thanks!
    John

    Thanks for the reply.  Wiring in all those wattmeters would be even worse!
    Here's what I did, although I'm sure there must be an easier way:
    I exported the Multisim netlist to a .CIR file.
    I then wrote a C++ program to read in the CIR file, find all the resistors, diodes and transistors then generate another file containing series of SPICE commands that could be run using "User Defined Analysis".  It works!
    Here's what my program outputs:

  • Wired WebAuth with NAC Guest Server

    Hi,
    I am trying to get wired WebAuth working with NAC Guest Server. In the switch_login.html file example, what should be changed for this line:
    ngsOptions.actionUrl = https://1.1.1.1/;
    Should this be an IP address on the switch? Shoul I have this pointing to the success.html page like this:
    ngsOptions.actionUrl = "https://1.1.1.1/success.html";
    When I log on, and accept the AUP, my browser just sits there trying to access Https://1.1.1.1/?redirect-url=blah blah blah
    Thanks,
    Peter

    FYI,
    In my case I WAS getting the switch_login.html web page being displayed, but after entering credentials and submitting the Acceptable Use Policy page, I did NOT 'see' any radius traffic between the switch (C2960S 12.2(55)SE3) and the ACS 5.3 radius server?!.
    I used the sample .html docs that you can find on the NAC Guest Server in the 'samples' folder on that server. I used WCP app to copy them to my PC/laptop before modifying where relevant and copying to flash on switch and to the wireless 'hotspot' folders on the NGS.
    I went through the following document in url below line by line, paragraph by paragraph and found that I had left out the following command in the configuration:
    aaa authentication login default group radius
    see doc at:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/solutions/Enterprise/Security/TrustSec_1.99/WebAuth/WebAuth_Dep_Guide.html#wp392553
    So I added it in and I am now seeing the radius debug traffic being redirected to the ACS by the switch when a user submits the credentials.
    aaa new-model
    aaa authentication login default group radius
    aaa authentication login VTY-USER-LOGIN local
    aaa authentication dot1x default group radius
    aaa authorization console
    aaa authorization exec EXEC-LOCAL local
    aaa authorization network default group radius
    aaa authorization auth-proxy default group radius
    aaa accounting auth-proxy default start-stop group radius
    aaa accounting dot1x default start-stop group radius
    with debug radius enabled:
