Component video output in FCP HD

Is there a good video card (wether it is a graphics card or a card designed for video) that can support component video output and it would work for FCP? I want to connect my monitor to the computer instead of always having to use my deck (which I use for two different systems). HD or SD.
thanks,
James

I have a Decklink SP card for broadcast component input and output - excellent value for money.
SD and HD versions available

  • How can I do live streaming with a Mac Book Pro 2011, using a new model of Sony HD camcorder which does not have firewire out/input? it comes only with a component video output, USB, HDMI and composite RCA output?

I need to do live streaming with a Mac Book Pro 2011, using a new model of Sony HD camcorder (http://store.sony.co...ber=HDRAX2000/H) ..this camcorder model does not have firewire out/input ..it comes only with a component video output, USB, HDMI and composite A/V video output..
I wonder how can I plug this camcorder to the firewire port of my laptop? Browsing on internet I found that Grass Valley Company produces this converter http://www.amazon.co...=A17MC6HOH9AVE6 ..but I am not sure -not even after checking the amazon reviews- if this device will send the video signal through firewire to my laptop, in order to live streaming properly? ..anyone in this forum could help me please?
    Thanx

I can't broadcast with the built in iSight webcam... how would I zoom in or zoom out? or how would I pan? I've seem people doing it walking with their laptops but that's not an option for me... there's nothing wrong with my USB ports but that's neither an option to stream video because as far as I know through USB you can't connect video in apple operating systems ..you can for sure plug any video cam or photo camera through usb but as a drive to transfer data not as a live video camera...  is by firewire an old interface developed by apple that you can connect all sorts of cameras to apple computers... unfortunately my new sony HDR-AX2000 camcorder doesn't have firewire output...

  • Is there a way of recording component video output to a MacBook Pro

The matrox MXO2 is likely what you are referring to. It would be an extremely useful i/o device for you if the price is acceptable. It will have good resale value for a few years too if you ever wanted to get rid of it. With your camera's chip set and resolution of 850 lines you can capture via component to 4:2:2 color space by editing in a codec like DVCPRO 50 which is very efficient and looks great too. It is a big step above anything dv related which is 4:1:1 color space. If you ever drop your video signal down to dv quality you will take a big hit picture quality wise. Another device is the original AJA IO which connects via firewire and gives you component i/o as well as s-video, composite and digital component as well. The AJA IO's are selling on ebay for $600.00 - $750.00. They were around $2500.00 originally. You could also use an AJA LA which is basically the analog side of the IO and they are a little cheaper. Blackmagic multibridge is another product that is similar. These are all pro level equipment. You will need FCP.

  • DVI to Component Video Output YpBr- Mac Pro NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT Card

    Hello-
I am trying to use my Mac Pro as a media machine, but to do this I need to convert the DVI signal to Component video. The video switch I am using is Component only, so that is the reason why I cannot go HDMI.
What is the best solution? Do they make an adapter that will convert? Is there a graphics card issue?
On a sidenote, will the computer be able to operate with two video cards? I was thinking of having one HDMI output to my main television monitor, and having component video going to my switch for the other monitors located around the house.

What about upgrading to this video card?

It will give more graphics performance, but you don't need it for just displaying video. If you do want extra performance, get the ATI Radeon HD 4870

  • Is simultaneous use of HDMI and Component Video outputs possible?

I want to split the Apple TV video output to drive my main plasma TV when desired, but also to a smaller LCD TV for more frequent use to show what songs are playing thru Apple TV - as this is my common usage. It seems that with the HDMI cable plugged into the Apple TV, it does not drive the component output. Is there some way to do this or do I have to go for an HDMI splitter?

HDMI takes precedence over component, so you can't use both at the same time. if HDMI is connected it will use that.

  • UVW-1800 analog component video output low into Decklink Extreme

I have come to realize that my UVW-1800 is feeding into my Decklink Extreme card at 75% of the level it should (based on NTSC bars). I can raise the input level of the Decklink. But I wonder if the ultimate problem is increased noise using this fix. I am about to test the composite output level. I do not have a regular WFM moni so I can't see the level until after I get it in.
    Thanks, Chris.

    Chris-
You might also look on eBay for a TBC remote. Even using the scopes in the Final Cut capture window will be OK. Analog video is subject to huge variations in levels and chroma. Getting them close to proper at the machine will give you a much more pleasing result than adjusting them after the fact in the digital domain.
The usual order of adjustment for analog machines is to first set the black level, then the white. If you adjust the white much it will affect the blacks, so go back and reset those. Which will affect the whites. so go back to THOSE. Usually about 3 tweaks on each will get both to the proper levels. Then set the chroma amount, and hue (if you are using the composite signal).
Finally on the %75 percent issue. It turns out that in analog video if you add the R,G,and B signals you only get 75%. So if you have full field bars that may be correct. You need SMPTE bars, which have a 100% white box at the bottom of the frame, to correctly set your video level.

  • DVI to component video - possible?

I'm trying to find a way to connect the DVI output of my MacBookPro 1.1 to the component video inputs of a Sony STR-DH810 receiver which is hooked up to my TV. I discovered I can't use the HDMI inputs on that receiver with an alternate audio source, which is why I'm trying component video. When I connect everything, I get no video - only audio. I know the component video inputs are good because they work with my DVD player component video outputs.
The owner's manual of the receiver says "display system must support component video (Y, Pr, Pb) signal output function in order for the image to display properly". Does my MacBookPro work this way?
I guess my other option might be to find a DVI to composite video cable, if such a thing exists?

    Hi s,
I don't know that I've heard of successful DVI to component, but in theory it may work, as the GPU outputs both digital and analog signals.
OTOH, I've seen a number of reports that this works (S-Video or composite):

  • Component Video from a Mac Pro

Hey All, i have a dual 2.66 mac pro with the Nvidia geforce 7300GT. What i'm trying to do is go from DVI to Component out to my 42" plasma to watch videos from the computer. The methods I've tried have results in an image of the desktop that is purple and flickering. Has anyone else done this? Or what are my other options. The plasma only has VGA, Component, HDMI and composite inputs, and I'd really like to go component so i don't have to take the monitor off the wall and re-wire.
Any light that can be shed would be greatly appreciated.
PS - To give a little back story I had a PC with a component out, so that is what is currently cabled to the tv, but the PC had a meltdown so now i'm converting fully to the MAC that I have had. I also have a HIS Digital x850 PCI-E graphics card from the pc that I have read can be put into the mac, but I'm not sure if i can do this or not. Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

No I understand the video card doesn't handle audio, let me tell you my pc setup that I had and you tell me if I can do this on a Mac.
Video wise I had a graphics card with a DVI and VGA port, along with a port that adapted to a component video output (3 RCA Plugs, Red Green Blue). That cable I fed to my 42" plasma into one of its component video inputs.
Audio wise I split the normal audio card output (headphone plug), one went to the computer speakers, the other went from headphone jack to 2 RCA plugs (right and left), which went I fed into the left and right audio channels of the plasma's component input alongside the 3 component video plugs.
Is there any way to do this with my Mac? The reason I really want to component is because everything is already wired and I won't have to take the monitor off the wall. Also, I’d like to go component because it seems like it is easier to get the audio into the monitor using component, as I don't see an audio input if I plug in VGA, and don't see a way to get audio into the chain if I go HDMI.
    Thanks.

  • Component video and HDMI at same time

Does anyone know if the AppleTV HDMI output and component video output are both active at the same time? (I want to send one to a plasma and the other to a projector, but I couldn't get anything out of the component output until I dosconnected the HDMI).

I think it would be too easy for us consumers if it worked as it should. I'd like to be able to set independent resolutions for Component vs HDMI AND have them both active, but it won't work like this. Bummer.
As to your problem, HDMI senses whether it is attached, and if it is attached, it takes precedence, disabling the component outputs. A simple albeit kludgy solution to your problem is to unplug the HDMI cable from the ATV when you want to use the Component outputs. (As your troubleshooting suggested... )

  • Apple TV 1rst Generation video output

If I do connect HDMI output then component video output goes down? I Can't view both at the same time? How can I watch both outputs?

HDMI takes precedence, so you cannot use both HDMI and component at the same time.

  • Qosmio G20 = Component Video Cable and High Definition Videos With Pinnacle

    Dear Everybody
I bought my Qosmio G20-120 from Poland which came with D-video to Scart cable. This cable is only capable of transferring Video (CVBS) signals which is pretty useless because Qoismio has S-Video Output already... Which is better than simple Video Output that I can get from Scart.
According to www.toshiba-europe.com Qoismio has supposed to have Component Video output. But it comes with Scart cable instead. I am still trying to get this Component Video to D-Video cable from the distributor. If I wont succeed, does anybody know if and where I can buy this cable in Europe? Or is it possible to make a component video to D-video cable out of D-Video to Scart cable?
As last did anybody try the high definition DVB-S channels on Qoismio by using USB 2.0 DVB-S TV Card.Any opinions about Pinnacle PCTV 400e ??
    Thank You

Yes I do live in Europe. But who says that Component Video Cable is a standart from USA or Japan. I have been using Component Video Cables to connect my DVD Player with my video projector since 2002. Component Video Cables are wisely used in Europe. And its the ONLY analogue way of transferring HD-Video (Plus DVI and HDMI)
What disturbs me alot is that on www.toshiba-europe.com they explain that my computer has:
    Interfaces 1 x headphone
    1 x DC-in
    1 x line-in
    1 x external monitor
    1 x RJ-11
    1 x RJ-45
    1 x i.LINK (IEEE 1394)
    4 x USB 2.0
    1 x Monitor-in (line-in port)
    1 x TV-antenna
    1 x S-Video-in (Composite/Line-in)
    1 x TV-out (s-video, Component-out))
1 x 5-in-1 Bridge Media slot (supports SD Card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, MultiMedia Card, xD-Picture Card)
Where is the Component-out ???Promise is a promise. Why do they say it if they dont give it?
Instruction manual also says that : D-Video port lets you transfer 525i(480i),525p(480p),1125i(1080i) or 750p(720p) data to external devices.
How can you transfer 720p with a Scart Cable?? It is impossible.... The only way that Qosmio can transfer 1280x720 picture is a Component Video cable.(Because it has no DVI port) How much does this cable cost anyway?? But the problem is NOBODY is producing it in Europe. I am writing to Toshiba-Japan. Since they are saying that my computer has Component-out so they must get me the cable....

  • Anyone using HDTV Component Video on an MSI 6600GT?

I am building a system for somone and want to use a 6600GT because of the component video output. I have a 6600GT already but I have no HDTV to test the component output. Has anyone used the component output on a HDTV, and how well did it work?
    Thanks

Basically the product and its drivers are junk.
I tried it in another computer and the picture was clean , until the whole thing locks up after 3 seconds.
Did the fixes they said might work, ng.
Good luck to anyone using this crap.

  • Video output from iPod Touch (2nd gen) via AV Component Cable (no audio)

Hi, I'm trying to output a video from my iPod Touch (2nd gen) to my TV via a AV Component Cable.
Unfortunately the audio doesn't work, I'm sure they are all connected into the right places.
The video works, but I get no audio. (And no subtitles when closed caption is on)
Here is a link to an image of the TV connections from ImageShack:
    http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/7280/img0204y.jpg
At the top left of the image, are what I assume to be the red and white audio ports, highlighted in red.
I plugged in the red and white audio connectors into those ports.
And towards the bottom are three ports, green, blue and red, also highlighted in red.
I plugged in the green, blue and red connectors into those ports.
I changed the input of the TV to Input 2, I see the video for the movie I'm watching on the TV but no audio. I tried multiple movies.
I've also tried changing the video output from PAL to NTSC and back again, turning Widescreen on and off and turning Closed Captions on and off. I also tried plugging in the red and white audio connectors into the row of ports just below the green/blue/red row, to see if that made any difference, and it didn't.
I tapped the bottom left button of the iPod Touch when plugged in to the TV and playing video and it came up with an option that was selected called ~"Audio Source: English (Stereo)"
    Any idea's? Thanks.

    Resolved... ThankYou

  • FCP + Motion: sharing Firewire video output

When developing in both FCP and Motion, I am using the Firewire video output to view my work on an external monitor.
This works fine when I work in each program separately.
But, when I have both programs simultaneously open and drag a Motion project directly into FCP, FCP gives me the error telling me that the Firewire video output is already being used for Motion.
Is there a way to seamlessly switch the Firewire output between the two programs when both programs are running concurrently?
My only solution now is to save the Motion project; close Motion; open FCP; and import the Motion project into FCP.
    Is there a better way?
Thanks, in advance, for any ideas.

    Hello,
I was wondering why this warning is coming up every time I open After Effects-
(After Effects warning: Couldn't open Quicktime video output component.)
It also reappears every time I go to a different program then back into After Effects.

I just upgraded quicktime and this started appearing.
    ANY IDEAS.

    Sorry,
Here;s another. I have Quicktime Pro installed. I have CS3 installed. I also have AE v7 which runs a few plugins I am still thinking work in v7. CS3 runs OK but in version 7 it gives me the "Couldn't open Quicktime Video Output Component " notice. I had a client working in v7 so I tried to work in v7, it was a bad idea. I lost days of work and finally just went to CS3 to get the job done but couldn't use one anothers files between versions.
What can I do to get the AE v7 Couldn't open Quicktime video output component fixed. Make it simple if you can... I'm an artist.
