Not on my late 2011 15" MBP. When I use just Cammond+r it takes me to the built in recovery HD.
Even with no HDD in the system Command+r gives me nothing, no options at all and certainly not the Internet Recovery system.
Command+Option+r gives me the Internet Recovery system with or without a HDD in the system and with or without a Recovery HD partition on the internal drive.
So it would seem it is different for different models and whether or not there is or isn't a recovery partition on the internal drive.
So for anyone reading this thread try both Command+r and Command+Option+r to boot the computer from the Apple Online Lion Internet Recovery system.

I am performing a clean install of OS X vs. 10.8.5 on a new internal hard drive. At the end of the installation process the progress bar stalls with a minute to go - error message "Can't download the additional components needed to install OS X" appears

At the end of the installation process (Clean install, new 500GB internal hard drive, formatted and partitioned, MacBook 13" Aluminum, late 2008) the progress bar stalls and eventually a drop down error message appears "Can't download the additional components needed to install OS X". I am using a USB 8 GB bootable flash drive. Any ideas?

I recently upgraded the RAM in my MacBook Pro (13-inch, Early 2011) to 16gigs. The process went smooth at first. Then the Computer would not boot and stayed on the white Apple screen with the circle spinning. A progress bar would appear and disapear but it would never get past that screen. I tried to fix that but ended up backing up my hard drive and now I am attempting to restore the unit using "command + R" at startup. I have eraseed and reformated the drive using with Disk Utilities OSX extend journaled. Then I attempt to reinstall and the unit is connected to my wifi which is fast and stable and I get, "can't download the additional components needed to install mac os x lion." I have tried this many times

I still have the 16gigs of ram in the macbook pro which I am told this unit supports both by OWC (which is where i bought it) both identical 2x8gig sticks ddr3 1333

Not sure 10.7.3 is still available over the internet download system. I think Apple waws more on the ball this time and switched the Recovery HD system download over to 10.7.4 fairly Quickly.
That may or may not be part of your problem.
It may also be your internet connection is flakey and is dropping the connection with the download server.
If you are doing this over a WiFi connection try connecting the Mac to your router with an Ethernet cable.

I use a 32bit laptop now and I want to start working on webcenter portal. What are the applications I need to install in order so I can successfully get my webcenter working. I already have installed Jdeveloper 11.1.1.6.0

This depends on what exactly you mean by 'my webcenter'.
If all you want is develop your own webcenter applications (using the WebCenter Framework), you might be good to go only with the webcenter jdev plug-in (see http://www.oracle.com/ocom/groups/public/@otn/documents/webcontent/156082.xml#oracle.webcenter.app). Your apps will be deployed to the integrated WLS. There will be two important missing pieces:
a) WebCenter Content as the document storage (requires also a database)
b) BPEL/BPM as the workflow engine
You might also want to install WebCenter Portal: Spaces, or deploy your apps to a separate WebCenter Portal server (running on its own Weblogic Server).
Optionally, you might also want to utilize other servers contained in the WebCenter Portal license such as Secure Enterprise Search for enterprise searching and/or Oracle Access Manager for enabling single sign-on between the above mentioned components.

What X Libraries do I need to install for Server-side Java AWT rendering?

Some of my clients like to set up Solaris and other Unix-like servers with minimal software installed. So, they usually don't install the X window system or any libraries. The Java libraries my company provides generate and load images using Java's AWT libraries, which require access to some native X libraries on Solaris and other Unix-like systems to work. Since our libraries are primarily used in a headless server environment, I need to know what the minimum set of X libraries is required for Java's AWT to work properly, and how do I install them easily?

Hi,
The sharepoint PIK is available for BO enterprise only. SP3 is refering to BO enterprise XIR2 SP3. This Service Pack is not available for CR 2008. In order to integrate CR 2008 in BO enterprise XIR3 you need to install SP0 on top of CR 2008. But as I said above without BO enterprise you won't be able to use the PIK.
I copied the following system requirements from our Install Guide for BOE XiR3 PIK:

JRE not installing for Hyperion v11

I had config trouble with my initial install and decided to reinstall Hyperion. After the reinstall the JRE directory is missing from the common folder. Any ideas?
I removed everything from HYPERION_HOME and the .hyperion.server1 and .oracle.server1.products from the user home directory.
This is a Solaris server. I run installTool.sh. All of the 29 other folders are present in common, but JRE and JRE-64 does not get installed. It did work however when I ran install for the first time.
Has anyone else seen this?

If you reinstall 11 version, the JRE will not install. After the uninstallation of Hyperion, you will be having InstallShield folder where it contains vpd.properties file in C:/Windows and you need to remove InstallShiled folder and reinstall it again

I need an install for Mac OS X10.5.8 adobe flash player and can't find it as I uninstalled my original one

I uninstalled adobe flash player from my Mac Leopard OS X 10.5.8 and need to get a new version but it asks for the 10.6 before installing and apple won't accept it or the installation is not complete. Now I have no adobe and can't access any apps period without that and the plug-in. The directions are too confusing.

Okay, a few comments... first, that tech at Future Shop has his numbers wrong. As of January of this year, according to my testing, Norton is actually only 73% protection against currently-active Mac malware. That's pretty darn bad, especially when you factor in the fact that Norton is well-known for causing problems. You may think Norton hasn't caused you any problems, but if you've had it installed for 15 years, you'd probably be shocked at how your machine would perform without it. It's probably a large part of the reason that you keep seeing that rainbow wheel cursor.
If Norton's log shows no malware, that doesn't mean Norton caught it, it means Norton never saw any malware to begin with. Which, since it's not so good at spotting it, doesn't really mean much.
Mac malware is rare enough that you've probably never seen any. However, note that running an outdated version of Flash is one of the dangerous things that could change that. Insecure versions of Flash were known earlier this year to be exploited by Mac malware. All you'd have to do is visit the wrong website and you'd be infected.
For this reason, regardless of what you do about anti-virus software, I strongly advise that you not install one of those outdated versions of Flash. If your computer is able to run Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), you should upgrade to that system, then update it fully (Apple menu -> Software Update). Not only is there no known malware currently capable of infecting a fully up-to-date Snow Leopard system, but you'll also be able to run a more secure version of Flash.

Reader XI needs plugin instalation for Portfolios

Recently I got Acrobat Reader XI, and get surprised because now we need to install a flash plugin separately… that will be one more roadblock for Portfolio usage, because there are lots of Reader deployments where user have no admin rights (companies, internet kiosk, etc.).
We are promoting livecycle on our clients, with a message that Portfolio will work in any Win/Mac/Lin PC, the only requirement is to have Reader 9+ installed, what is not an issue because almost all PC’s have it. Then in version XI Adobe just change rules… is this to stay?

Yes, you have to install Flash plug in seperately. I can understand your requirements but with Reader XI you have to install Flash plug in for Portfolio.

"Can't download additional components needed to installl OS X". I can't get beyond that poiint. I had not trouble installing Lion yesterday, but three attempts to install Mountain Lion hand up at this same point. What can I do about it? (I'm installing to a Mac Mini that I bought in 2012. I have 110 GB free out of 249.67GB. I have VMWare Fusion installed and that allocates 69.55 to Windows.)

I've used Linux for several years, but only recently installed Arch for the first time. I installed Bridge Linux, Chakra, and later ArchBang, and after getting a feel for pacman (I think it's great!) and, with Bridge and ArchBang, the Arch repos, I was convinced that I wanted to go ahead with an Arch installation. Not sure if this is an option for you or not, but I actually tried two "test" installations on a spare computer first, taking detailed notes, with tabs in my browser (on another computer) opened to the Beginners' Guide and the "official" Installation Guide. I also kept the Bridge and ArchBang installations; kinda nice to be able to take a look at them sometimes to see how things are set up there. I don't know if Arch users would recommend this type of approach, but it has worked out well here.

I have the exact same problem! With just one website. It's when I have a second account on it. I can sign in with my original (old) account, but not with my new account that I wish to sign in on. I've talked to a lot of people members of the website who have second accounts and this doesn't happen with them, it's only with my firefox. I've done everything I can to enable cookies, 3rd party cookies, no exceptions, etc.
But it must be something to do with my computer because I did the same thing on Internet Explorer and Google Chrome and it's exactly the same. :/
