Compound clip audio issue

I record table-top games, and capture audio from an external microphone. I then sync them up into a compound clip with the camera audio muted and the good audio turned up. The problem is, whenever I go to cut up the clip (delete unnecessary bits), there is a very noticeable audio jump between cuts. Like the audio shuts off and on very quickly, even when I just make a splice and don't delete anything. I've cut up different clips using the same equipment numerous times and it has always been seamless, so I am guess that this is an issue with using compound clips. Does any one have a solution? driving me crazy.

TImecode shouldn't matter. FCP doesn't use it. Have you tried the sync function?
you can also select the video and use open in timeline, then add the audio into it to sync it.
COmpound clips shouldn't be involved.
WHat are the  audio sample rates?

  • Compound Clip, Audio roles, and X2Pro Audio Convert

    Hi Everybody,
    Here is the problem :
    - In my project, all media have specific roles, especially audio (Interview, Interview_Ambiance, Sfx, Music etc...).
    - Interview and Interview_Ambiance are in compound clips. These Compound clips have the default Video/Audio roles: "Video/Dialogue".
    - When using X2Pro for exporting the AAF (audio channels) from the project, the only roles available for exporting (from the X2Pro soft) are dialogue and music.
I'm wondering if anybody else had the same issue and if it is from X2Pro or FCPX.
    Thanks!
    Emmanuel.

    Thank You for any help

I tried delete all cach and render files, and nothing help. This is on timeline and after export too.
Only I have this issue? Maybe someone try reproduce this issue:
    1. Create compound clip.
    2. Cut few times in compound clip.
    3. Speed up compound min. 600%.
If only I have this problem, this is any way to make a complaint to Apple?
    Thanks for any help

  • FCPX Compound Clip Transition Issue

I'm making a documentary in FCPX.  I've created a few compound clips with some photographs.  When I overwrite to primary storyline I want to add transitions, but it won't let me.  Is this a bug or just the way it is?  Does anybody know a work-around?

There's a preference in the Editing section called, "Apply Transitions with:"  The drop down menu gives you the choice between Available Media and Full Overlap.  If you choose Full Overlap, it should borrow media from the clips to make the transition happen.  This will shorten both shots but should allow the transition.

  • Merged Clips Audio Issue

Trying this again, having a major problem since update working with merged clips.  I merge all my video and audio clips in a pre-workflow project in premiere pro.  Just got my footage back from the shoot, labeled and sync'd in the project.
Because Premiere doesn't allow you to have more than 1 project open at a time, I copied the files, closed the pre-workflow project and opened my feature film project I've been working from.  Copied the merged clips bin, I click on a clip, video plays fine but there's no audio playback.
I try importing the files from the pre-workflow project using the import project feature, keep only the actual merged clips (as the rest of my project is this way) still no audio.  I have cleaned my media cache, reset preferences, even uninstalled premiere and redownloaded.  Problem persists.
Can you help me figure out what the issue is so I can get back to making progress on finishing this feature film project?
The only thing different I've done this time that I didn't do last time was copied the audio into the bin with the video clips and merged that way.  Before was putting video clips into my master audio bin and merging.  But I don't see how this could possibly be the problem.

Going to try, but here is my workflow and have not encountered any problems until this last P/U days footage.  I've been doing things this way because I found having all files in the project was causing it to crash constantly when I was working.  I have a new I7' processor IMac with 24 gigs of RAM.  And since Premiere does not allow you to have multiple projects open at the same time (Wish this would change.  Avid and FCP both allowed multiple projects) I have to do things this way.
    Pre-workflow Project File
Label all Video and Audio files to match Scene #'/Takes
Set in points on all video and audio to reflect slate
    Merge Clips
    Working Project File
Import only Merged Clips into Project.  Either via import or copy/paste
Now I've done this workflow from just about the very beginning.  Deleting all of the original source video and all audio clips from my working project so only my bins containing my merged clips remain.  Have had no problems and edit has been smooth.  Did a pickup day last week, followed same steps as I've done in the past, imported the merged clips into my working project and the clips have the audio set to none by default.  Now once I go into the sequence I can manually set it and it's there but I cannot play audio in the source monitor which is how I edit, there's no reason I should have to go back to the crappy FCP way of editing doing the copy and paste from a sequence.

  • Clip Audio issues

I have been using everything just fine and used CS3 to edit last
night got pretty far along in the project and saved it and closed.
When I came back this morning all my files were offline so I tried
Linking the Media but was prompted that a problem existed. So I
started over but now every time I try to drag a video clip down
to my timeline there is no audio attached nor does it come up in
the source preview. Files work fine on all other media players.
Any ideas what is going on?

    1. Try to find an answer by searching the archives of the forum you plan to post to.
Have searched through these and nothing that I've found has been able to solve the issue.
    2. Try to find an answer by searching the Web.
Have searched the web which actually brought me to this site also.
    3. Try to find an answer by reading the manual.
I have read the email and gone through all the troubleshooting and help guides attached to the program.
    4. Try to find an answer by reading a FAQ.
Can't find an FAQ that has my problem on it.
    5. Try to find an answer by inspection or experimentation.
I have been experimenting as I said in both posts and used many of the suggestions I have found and thus far I can't seem to find the problem.
    6. Try to find an answer by asking a skilled friend.
I actually went and asked my mentor on Premiere what he thought was the problem and we sat down for a few hours tinkering to try and figure it out and have thus far resolved nothing.
    7. If you're a programmer, try to find an answer by reading the source code.
    I'm not a programmer.
Now, I really am not an idiot, I get protocol for assistance with these sort of forums and I really am doing all I can on my end. I really was wondering if anyone had any further things that they thought this issue could be due to other than everything posted already in this forum for the last several pages of topics. My last attempt was to convert the file formats of the video I am working with to try and see if that would resolve the issue but it seems to be doing the same thing for every single file I put into the bin. When I drag and drop it onto my Timeline there is no audio and there isn't any when I preview it either. This is the case with M-PEG's, .movs, .avi's, and .mkv's which I had a horrendous time getting Premiere to acknowledge.
It really is an all of the sudden issue that happened within a matter of hours. Any ideas about what is behind it.

  • IMovie clips audio issue

I have digitised video in imovie 4, and have imported the files into FCP5. FCP seems to want to render the audio in each file before I can hear it.
Is there a way around this?

WEll you only have to render something one until you make a change to it. an exception would be audio in a timeline as those renders seem to have the need to rerender much more often. Personally, there is no way I would edit an iMovie captured project in FCP without some conversion. I don't know if those clips will open in compressor but if so I would convert them all to an NTSC DV file. Or you could probably batch export from FCP.

  • Syncing audio in Final Cut Pro X doesn't create a compound clip

I just had a quick question that hopefully someone can help me with. I was shooting some video with my Canon t3i the other day, and I record audio into a Zoom H1. I imported all of my audio and video into Final Cut Pro X and I wanted to syncronize the clips, so I chose the video and the correct audio to go with it, and I right clicked them, and chose syncronize clips.
Now, my question. On every example I've seen of this, syncronizing two clips creates a compound clip which would be great, but when I choose syncronize clip, it just creates a new clip of the video with both audio files apart of the video. It's not a compound clip at all, it's just a video file with two audio channels, one with the cameras audio, the other with the Zoom H1 audio. When I go to shut off the cameras audio channel and just leave the Zoom H1 audio, my video starts to skip and just goes black, yet the audio plays fine...
I guess I'm just looking for help, is there something wrong that I am doing when I am trying to sync these clips? Are there certain file settings that I should have? My video is recorded in 1080p with 24fps, the audio is recorded in WAV format. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

  • Audio level different in compound clip

Experiening an odd audio behaviour. I have created a compound clip and them dropped in interview into it. After that I place a compressor on the interview audio and set it to agerage at -20db. Once I them place the conpound clip onto a project the audio level in the peoject drops by -5db. I need to bump the project audio up +5db to get it back the agerage -20db it is in the compound clip. I have tried this on 2 systems with the same exact results.
Is this the way it is supposed to behave? And if so why? Seems to me the audio level should stay consistant from the compound clip to the project.
    Mike

That's odd. When you change the compound should update. Bring the compound clip into the project. Double click the clip to open its component clips. Make any change that's easily reversed – say, disable a clip (V). Close the project. Create a new empty project. Bring the compound to the new project. The disabled clip should not be visible.

  • Audio fades in compound clip

I have an edited compund clip that someone created and every time I play it, there are audio fades in between the cuts that shouldn't be there and the person who edited it claims they never added them.  When I go and fix them all, next time I open final cut and play that clip, the fades are added back in.  Why is this happening?  Basicall in between the cuts audio drops at the end of the first cut and then goes up on the beginning of the next clip in the cut.  It's like FCX is doing this automatically, but I can't get rid of it for good.  Any ideas?
    Thank you

    Hi
    In iMovie'11 (version 9.0.x)
    on top menu row - Apple/iMovie/File/Edit/Cut (Can vary dep. on language - in Swedish Apple/iMovie/Arkiv/Redigera/Klipp . . . )
down Cut menu - Slow playback/Raspid Playback/Re-play in Slow Motion and onvards
Here one can select the Pre-Set speeds
Are you familiar with getting 'inspector' to run?
No - but I guess that Double Click on clip/sequense or ctrl-Click on it might open it.

  • Compound Clip with Effects Storyline Issue

I've made a compound of my edit so I can add a film grain effect across the whole cut. (I find this much easier if need to change rather than on individual clips). But after adding the grain, I'm getting a weird overlay on the transitions from black—see attached image. I swear I've done this before without issue. If I put the effect onto each clip (inside the compound), I don't get the "buzz." It's a little hard to see, but if you look in the blacks, you'll see the grain noise. Any ideas?
Here's the line. Grain is added to the compound clip.

OK - I think I fixed it - I had a title connected to the compound clip that for some reason seemed to interfere, but after taking it away and then back, it's fixed now.

  • All additional audio tracks in synchronized or compound clips are merged into the mono-mix.

    Hi all.
I have a video with a stereo track and six separate audio tracks from set. I synced them. If you open the synchronized clip in a separate timeline, all audio tracks are on place and have their names. But if I append it to the storyline and expand audio components, there are only two audio tracks: monomix from the original video with its name and one stereo track named "a1", which is a mix of all additional audio tracks. The same thing happens if I make a compound clip, with a small difference. It forced me to give up the work I wanted to do.

Multicam works, but it is not very convenient. I can not use Sync-N-Link as I had planned, I get problems with export AAF and DaVinci do not like multicam in XML.
Channel configuration mirrors two tracks in the storyline, as you can see in the screenshots.

  • Audio fade not working in compound clip

How are you doing? When I have a compound clip of multiple audio files, the fade handle doesn't seem to be affecting the audio like it did before the update.
    Below is an example...

actually, that audio compound clip is not inside the compound clip. What you are seeing is multiple audio files compounded together. When I do this, the fade does not work. I can automate the level line, but the fade handles are ineffective.
