Compound layout in View selector possible in OBIEE 10g but not in OBIEE 11

Hi!
I am Claire. I have created 3 compound layout and I wanted it to be included in my view selector. I noticed that I is not possible in BI 11g but was previously possible in Bi 10G. Kindly help me on this matter. The compound layout is not appearing in the available views in the EDIT VIEW selector Page.

This is no longer possible. And actually in OBIEE 10g it was only possible in the Original Compound layout. Meaning that if you created compound layout #2 you could not leverage "Compound Layout" (the original / default one) inside of a view selector or as a view inside "Compound Layout #2".
If you look at the OBI 10g documentation you will see that it states that a Compound Layout is a "view" which can contain other views.
In the OBI 11g documentation it states that the Compound Layout is a container.

This new nomenclature and definition is the delineating factor and the reason you can no longer achieve that functionality in the same way you did in 10g

Requirement to upgrade OBIEE 10g on Windows to OBIEE 11g on Linux

Dear All,
I have a requirement to upgrade OBIEE 10g from current windows 2003 environment to OBIEE 11g Linux environment.
I went through forums and many threads on upgrade, everywhere they talk about Upgrade Assistant (UA). And oracle documentation says ,
+"Do not change from one platform or architecture to a different platform or architecture as part of the upgrade process.+
+For example, if the existing 10g system is running on a Windows 32-bit platform, do not install Oracle BI 11g on a Linux 64-bit platform and then run the Linux 64-bit Upgrade Assistant to upgrade the existing 10g system."+
But there would certainly be scenarios with other users the way I have. Then what is the way out to do this upgrade?
Can anyone give some advice on this. It is little urgent.

Thats are huge change in platform. win32 to linux 64.
Yet what we upgrade is only
catalog and rpd.
this might involve some manual change if UA cannot complete successfully.
Its better to do a prototype before the actual upgrade as recommended by Oracle. This will show what can the possible issues and road blocks.

View Object change ok in Jdev but not in Apps

Hi All,
I have changed some of the attributes in my page to point to columns in a
different view object (Which I have amended) . Both of the view object are available to my AM.
The changes work when run in Jdeveloper but not in APPS. I have reimported
the page the changed fields are blank, do I also have to import the changed
view object definitions XML into the MDS repository ?

You donot need to import ViewObject XMls to the MDs repository, they need to get in to the middle tier(JAVA_TOP). Are you talking about a table or a form layout ? Are you executing the query for the new ViewObject in processRequest, if not they will be blank.

When I click a link to a pdf file, I'm only presented with a save box,not a choice to just view the file. I have been able to view linked files in the past, but not anymore. I have to save the file to downloads then go to downloads and open it.

That depends on how the server sends the file.
If this is a MIME (content) type that is supported by other software then you can open the file automatically.
If the file is send with a generic content type like application/octet-stream or as Content-Disposition:attachment then you can only save the file.

It's possible modify the document BUT not move the margins?

Hi, this is a new situation in the work:
I have a document with differents margins, but now i must change the document size (the width)...My intention is change the width but dont move the margins. If i use the option File--->DOCUMENT SETUP change the size and the margins move for maintain "the same margin". I this case if i change the document size, i must recalculate the margin later. I want a "automatic mode".

Not as far as I know, and it's one thing I've always found a bit annoying about ID, but I put up with it because uncoupling the document setup and margin setup functions allows so much flexibility in making different master pages for differnt purposes.

List view threshold showing error on Production but not on Dev

I have a library on Production containing 6000 items.
There is a web part which displays items from that library (all on one page) and it is showing error because the items exceeded 5000 limit.
The same web part on Dev is not showing error when I display 6000 records from that list on a single page.
List view threshold is set to 5000 on both Production and Dev.
Why both servers are showing different behaviors? Is there some other setting other than List view threshold different on Production than Dev?

The number of items in a folder needs to be less or equal to the list view threshold.
If a list/library has 4000 items and a folder with 3000 items, both the folder view and the root folder view will
work for a list view threshold of 5000. However, if the folder or root folder grows to have more than 5000 items,
it will stop displaying items in the default view.
The easiest and quickest solution is to change the list view threshold for the period you migrate the site, then change it back to default. To do this follow the steps:
go to your SP2013 Farm's Central Administration
go to the "Manage Web Applications" under the "Application
Management" section
select the "Web Application" where you migrate the site
click the "General Settings" dropdown and select "Resources
Throttling"
change the "List View Threshold" to 12000 if your library has 11000 pages
migrate your site from SP2010 to SP2013
change the "List View Threshold" back to 5000.
SharePoint 2013 works the same as 2010 in terms of list view threshold: you can use folders and/orviews filtered on indexed columns to
access items in a list/library with more than 5000 of items.
When you try to add/delete an entire list/library that has more than 5000 items, then the operation fails. The solutions here are:

enable the "Daily Time Window for Large Queries" option located in the same place as the "List View Threshold".
This enables you to get around the "List View Threshold" during the time window you set, which could be sometime at 23:00 when nobody accesses SharePoint, for example. You can migrate your site during that time window.

How to view songs that were recently downloaded, but not yet assigned to a play list?

I am using the new iTunes, version 11.0.2. In the older version, there was a category for last downloads. This allowed me to to view all the downloads in one place then assign them to a playlist. Is this hidden somewhere or there is another way to see the downlods then move them?

You cannot clear the Purchased playlist unless you delete the songs from your library. It is a smart playlist with all your purchases.

I can view a pdf file from work but not from home on same laptop

HT1351 when my iphone 5 is connected, i can't see the content in itunes library. when i have an older ipod plugged in, there is a button to view what's on the ipod but not iphone. how do i see the music stored on iphone 5 in itunes??

When I click the "iphone" icon, it pulls up the options (summary, info, music, apps, etc) but when i click music, it just gives sync options. When i plug in an older ipod, there's an option to see what's on the ipod but not with my iphone 5. how do i see the music stored on my iphone in itunes?

There is a OneClickdigital ereader available in the App Store. Download that to your iPod to read pdfs and books from the library. And you might need to download the OneClickdigital eaudio player to listen to audiobooks from the library. Once both are downloaded sync you iPod again to transfer them.

Having upgraded to 4. I have lost my bookmark toolbar items. If I tick/untick bookmark toolbar in view/toolbrs the space appears/dissapears but not on the items in that list show

the list of items is still there when I go to the bookmarks dropdown

My toolbar setup -- while not exactly the same as yours -- follows some of the similar concepts, and as soon as I upgraded to 31 I encountered exactly the same frustrating flakiness with the row holding my Boomarks Toolbar items. I'm usually pretty good at figuring out solutions to these things, but this one had me stumped. Since the problem was persisting when I completely disabled Classic Theme Restorer I never thought of seeking a fix there, but the CTR setting you identified is what allowed my tweaking to finally bear fruit.
This is clearly a bug in 31. No matter *where* you put the bookmarks toolbar items (assuming there is no flexible space or anything else "interfering," they should *not* disappear and collapse into a single-button item in the right-hand drop-down. For me, every time I would open a new tab the row of bookmarks would appear for a split second and then disappear "into" that button. Without going into details, before reading your solution I was able to make them remain visible via a setup where there was a blank toolbar sitting above them. But the wasted space was unacceptable.

OBIEE 10g Amounts not rolling up

Dear All,
I am facing an issue in rolling up myamount totals.
I need to create a calculated column in RPD based on another fact column.(Amount2 is the calulated item that I have created)
Amount1 - my existing fact column
Amount2 - my new calculated column created at logical level.
My results :
Below report is at Quarter level. The totals displayed for Amount2 are wrong. The total displayed is same as that of Amount1 total

OBIEE 10g - Cant not see a specific report in a dashboard

Hi All
We have a dashboard which as 10 tabs. I can see 9 tabs but only one tab is not visible.
Access right are same to all 10 tabs.
I am just a read only user. I can see the 10th tab if i login as Administrator/Presentation Services Administrator.

Go to specific folder using Admin login->Settings->Administration->Manage Presentation Catalog
navigate to the folder and then _portal
look for the 10 tab or page for permissions

OBIEE 10g, OC4J not shutting down

Hello
I am running into this problem with 10g trying to shutdown OC4J in Linux
So I ran the commend:
oc4j -shutdown -port 8808 -password sys123I entered the right port number.
I went to EM to reset the oc4j password to sys123.
Then it goes:
Shutdown OC4J instance...
But it will just hang there for ever until I have to manuelly kill OC4J session..
could anybody let me know how to go about debugging this behavior?

I remember this as an issue in Unix and it was recommended simply to use the Unix kill command to stop the standalone OC4J.
Also, metalink document 1312743.1 provides this syntax:
java -jar OracleBI_HOME/oc4j_bi/j2ee/home/admin.jar ormi://localhost:23791 oc4jadmin <oc4jadmin password> -shutdown force
where <oc4jadmin password> is the password for the oc4jadmin user.
The syntax above works well on Windows. On Linux it generates the reported error.
If affected, try one of the following alternate syntax options. The first excludes the host name and port from the ormi argument. The second includes the IPV4 option.
java -jar /OracleBI/oc4j_bi/j2ee/home/admin.jar ormi:// oc4jadmin <oc4jadmin password> -shutdown force
java -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -jar /OracleBI/oc4j_bi/j2ee/home/admin.jar ormi://localhost:23791 oc4jadmin <oc4jadmin password> -shutdown force
