Compress avi file to be placed on webpage

I have a 50 mg avi movie taken from my canon still photo camera and it's in iphoto that I would like to compress to send to a webpage for family to view. Any ideas?
Thanks
Mike

Ok I think I copied the .avi file into iTunes, but what do I do in "advanced tab"?
I don't see the file in my videos?
Mike
You don't necessarily need the Pro upgrade.
(Did the kkirkster actually write that?)
New to iTunes 6.0.2 is a feature that allows your to
"Convert to iPod".
Look under the "Advanced" menu after adding the .avi
to your iTunes Library.
If the file plays properly in iTunes it should also
convert to .m4v format that can be used in a properly
formatted Web page.

  • Writing a Compressed AVI File in NI LabWindows/CVI with the IMAQ Vision Acquisition

    I'm still facing some problems when I try to save pictures from a GigE Vision camera into a compressed avi-file in a LabWindows/CVI application on Windows7.
    The task is to grab images from the camera with 30 fps to monitor a process, evaluate the grabbed pictures to find certain characteristics of the monitored process and save them in an avi-file to have the possibility to load and evaluate them once again Offline if necessary.
    My questions: which compression filters can I get with the NI-Imaq Vision Acquisition and Vision Development Runtime 2012 SP1? Is a mpeg4 codec available to compress quickly and effective? Can I use a third party codec or only the ones delivered with NI-Vision?
    I posted the problem two times already, but there is little response up to now. Thanks

    The encoding algorithm, or codec, that's used for compression needs to present on your system. When I had done some research on this sometime back, I found that if your custom codec could align with the DirectShow architecture, then your codec would work with IMAQ AVI functions.The codecs that are available may vary from system to system, depending on what software is currently installed. • How to compress AVI files in Lion sending by mail

    Hi ALL,
    As the titel says, AVI file size is now 36Mb.
    How to compress the AVI file so that I can sent it by Mail.
    Dimaxum

    The only way is to reduce the length or the size or the quality with a video editor. Probably all three. Usually, video files are too big for email. You should find a different method of transferring it.

    Please tell me if there is any codec which can open videos for me.
    If any third party is also available then tell me.

    I want to open Avi files which are compressed via different codecs.
    How i able to open those videos through JMF.You'd need a version of the codec that JMF can use...which basiclly means it needs to be written for JMF.

  • Compressing AVI files

    How do I compress an AVI file on a mac?!? and is is possible to open or extract an exe file?!

    Hi,
    compress AVI to what ?
    A ZIP file you can do with the Finder.
    Opening/running an .exe file requires Windows.
    If the .exe file is a self-extracting archive file, you can have a look at some Packer apps: http://www.macupdate.com/search.php?arch=intel&keywords=ZIP&os=macosx

  • IMAQ Create for compressed .avi - cannot open the new file afterwards with IMAQ Open

    Hi there,
    i hope i'm in the right board.
    I recently tried to compress avi-files i collected from various cameras throughout the last years.
    At first i used VDub and ffdshow with a FFVH codec - it worked fine as long as i won't try to open the compressed avi using IMAQ Open.
    I googled a bit and read a lot in these forums, tried several solutions - none of them worked.
    So i gave it a last, let's call it fail-proof, try:
    I took the original .avi (uncompressed, openable with IMAQ Open) and used my newly gained knowledge to use LV for the compression work, i chose from IMAQ AVI Get Filter Names the ffdshow Video Codec and built a small read-write for-loop to convert the AVI frame for frame.
    All worked fine despite the problem, that i still cannot open the compressed file in IMAQ Open - and i do not know why.
    I would be glad to force labview to decode and open the compressed file with a certain codec, but i found no option for this.
    Thanks in advance
    Markus
    P.S.
    I'm using LabView 2010 and VAS of 02/2014.

  • Other alternatives to JMF to open AVI files

    The codecs I use for compressing AVI files are not supported by JMF. There me another simpler option like using an external player as all I need to be able to do is to open the avi file in the player and then makes calls to tell it to go to certain frames.
    This is to enable me to sync up elevation data stored as distance/time with the associated avi file.
    Anyone have any ideas as I have run out of them ?

    ..as all I need to be able to do is to open the avi file in the player and then makes calls to tell it to go to certain frames.Nope. The Desktop method does not support that.
    1) Write a codec for the AVI compression (and use it in JMF).
    2) JavaFX maybe? Look into it and report back.

  • Error 1074396009 while trying to read .avi file

    Hi there,
    I'm using LV10 and my VI is supposed to read and analyse an avi video. On my Laptop everything is working fine. Now if I use it on another system Error 1074396009 occurs. It seems as if there might be some codec problem although the video can be played in VLC or WMP without any problems.
    Does LV10 only support certain kinds of codecs or what's causing my problem?
    And most impotantly, how do I solve my problem?
    Kind regards,

    This is not a LabVIEW issue but more to do with the codecs that are installed in your system. I am not sure what version of NI-IMAQdx you are using, but you need to make sure that the right compression filter (pre-IMAQdx 4.7.2) or codec (post-IMAQdx 4.7.2) is being used to de-compress the AVI file.
    Have a look at the following to figure out what compression filters or codecs are installed in your system:

    Another good read:
    AVI Codec Support with AVI2 in NI Vision Products
    Make sure you have the right codec/compression filter installed and you should be good to go.

  • How to convert jpeg/imges to .avi file by applying Microsoft RLE Compression?

    I am doing windows based application for converting jpeg/bmp images into avi file by applying various compressions using C#.Net language. For that I have referred avifil32.dll.
    Here is the code:
    Avi.AVICOMPRESSOPTIONS opts = new Avi.AVICOMPRESSOPTIONS();
    opts.fccType = (uint)Avi.streamtypeVIDEO;
    opts.fccHandler = (UInt32)Avi.mmioFOURCC('M', 'R', 'L', 'E');//Microsoft RLE
    opts.dwKeyFrameEvery = 2;
    opts.dwQuality = 75; // 0 .. 100
    opts.dwFlags = 0; // AVICOMRPESSF_KEYFRAMES = 4
    opts.dwBytesPerSecond = 0;
    opts.lpFormat = new IntPtr(0);
    opts.cbFormat = 0;
    opts.lpParms = new IntPtr(0);
    opts.cbParms = 0;
    opts.dwInterleaveEvery = 0;
    //get the compressed stream
    this.compressOptions = opts;
    int result = Avi.AVIMakeCompressedStream(out compressedStream, aviStream, ref compressOptions, 0);
    if (result != 0)
    throw new Exception("Exception in AVIMakeCompressedStream: " + result.ToString());
    SetFormat(compressedStream, 0);//To set format before the first frame can be written,and not to changed later.
    In this code I have used Microsoft RLE Compression i.e. MRLE. But Its not working, Getting exception becuase value of result coming zero.Other compressions such as IYUV,MSVC,CVID are working properly. So why MRLE is not working. Any solution for this? I
    have stucked with this problem from some days. Need a help.

  • Movie won't burn, export or compress - 'cause it contains AVI files?

    Please help, I'm getting errors and other bad news hours into a burn which is an hour long i-movie project but features AVI clips taken on a snapshot camera - could this be the problem, and if so - how come i-DVD has a problem with it but i-movie accepts the files okay?
    For big i-movie projects I often make the i-movie in two or three separate chunks and compress the second and third parts as Quicktime files and add them as huge clips at the end of the original i-movie file. I have not had major problems with this before.
    I tried exporting the movie back into the camera onto DV cassette and on the flip out screen on the camera there was sound but no picture.
    I tried converting the AVI files using Visualhub only to find that the AVI files nestled amongst the DV clips in the imovie project had the DV affix anyway when dragged onto my desktop.
    It would be really great to get this solved.

    You are posting in the iMovie 6 discussion, so I am assuming you are using that version. iMovie 6 requires that the video be in .dv format to play properly. As you have found, avi is more of a container for video that can be in a variety of formats.
    Do the video clips play in your iMovie? If they are not compatible with iMovie, you may see them and the video may play, but not the audio. If the clips play fine, then the problem is not the clips, nor iMovie. If they do not play with proper sound, you will need to convert them to DV format. You can use MPEG Streamclip for this if Visual Hub did not work.
    You can try exporting your iMovie as Full Quality Quick Time to your desktop (if you have enough drive space). Then, open a new iMovie project and import this newly created quicktime movie.
    Now, open iDVD, create a new project and drop this new iMovie project into it. That should burn fine.
    Be sure to use a quality brand DVD-R disk, Verbatim, Maxell, or Taio Yuden. Burn at a slower speed, 4x or less.

  • Trying to import .avi file to adjust the compression settings to xvid

    I'm trying to import a .avi file in order to adjust the compression settings to XVID and keep getting an error message

    ANd that error message is..? What file? What system? What version of AE? You need to be a lot more specific. That said, AE doesn't really deal with Xvid, DivX and similar garbage, so you might as well look for other tools in the first place.

  • Mov to avi file /compression

    I've created a movie with Quicktime using "File->Reading Sequence" and after "Save". So I got a .mov file. Is it possible to convert it to a .avi file and to perform also some compressions so that it doesn't take to much harddisk space? Is it possible with Quicktime or do we need to use another program?

    Quicktime can export to AVI...It's under Export.
    Mpeg-Streamclip can also convert to AVI. Mpeg-Streamclip will give you more codec options.

  • Hi, my mac has stopped playing some avi files (that used to work). I can see the video. Does anyone know why and what i can do? My version of quicktime is 7.6.9.

    Hi i have avi files saved in iphoto that i used to be able to play through quicktime. However in the last few weeks i cannot play many of these files. I can see the videos and click on them but nothing happens (i have version 7.6.9 of quicktime). Does anyone know why this has happened and what i can do about this?
    Thanks.

    What do you mean by what audio/video formats are involved? These are all files from several digital cameras.
    As previously stated, AVI is a file container. It is somewhat old and its originator, Microsoft, dropped official support of it over a decade ago. However, it remains popular with PC users since almost any valid audio and/or video compression format can be stuffed to the file which synchronizes the content by interleaving the individual audio and video frames. The compression format is the specific manner in which the audio and video data are encoded as it is placed in the AVI container. You can find the compression format by inspecting the file in the Finder "Info" window, or in the "Inspector" window of the QT player (or other media player) if the file can be opened.
    For instance, one popular compression combination would be to place DivX encoded video and MP3 audio in an AVI file container. However, neither DivX nor MP3 is natively supported by the QT player. (Although iTunes will natively support the MP3 audio.) Therefore, people who wish to play such files in the QT 7 Player would normally install either the DivX component or Perian but not both. Either installation will independently play such files in the QT Player, but if both are installed, the file will usually stop working since these two codecs can create a playback conflict.
    However, the AVI container could just as easily contain DV along with DV audio. In this case, the file should play correctly in QT since this compression format is natively supported by the basic component configuration that comes in every current OS installation. Therefore, if such files suddenly stopped playing, this could be an indication that a component has been moved or deleted or that your system or QT embedded structure has become corrupted.

  • How can i export a 24bit avi file from photoshop for mac?

    how can i export a 24bit avi file from photoshop for mac? i have a client that specificly needs the files to be avi and in 24bit what are the settings that i need to use to export the video using photoshop on a mac?

    Hello,
      To make a 24-bit AVI file in Photoshop, go to File>Export>Render Video. Then, under File Options, choose AVI from the Quicktime Export drop-down menu. Click the Settings button. Click the Settings button in the AVI Settings window. Change Compression to None, and then choose "Millions of Colors" from the Depth drop-down under Compression.
      The Millions of Colors option is for 24-bit video (8-bit R+G+B channels, 8x3=24). Millions of Colors+ is for 32-bit video (24-bit video plus an 8-bit alpha channel).
