Compress HDV to 5Mb file size to send per email?

Hi there,
I'm doing an HDV film in FCS2, its 2 mins and 20 secs long and I want to send it per email to the client just for them to see how it would be to get the OK, what Compressor settings allow me to get such a small file size at the same time that I save some of the quality? (just good enough to understand what's on the video)
PS: mpg (specially), wmp or QT would be the best file formats to deliver to the client
FC 6.0.4
Compressor 3.0.4
Best regards
Javier

Any of the general QuickTime settings for QT 6 or 7 can produce nice results. The presets are for different bandwidth (from LAN on down) and try a couple to see the differene. Usually LAN or the one right below it will do a fine job for what you are sending. You can tweak the size down (width and height) if needed and also adjusting frame controls can help if you do not like the quality.
As to emailing, some places may limit sizes of email attachements sent/received and I find the easiest way is just make a small video and post it on the web, with an email with a link.

  • Saving TIFF with LZW compression results in larger file size.

I know this never used to be the case with previous versions of Photoshop, but since I upgraded to CS5.1, when I save files with LZW compression checked, the resultant file size is higher than if I uncheck the box.
For example one file with LZW compression is 56.3MB, and without it is 47.8mb
Is it just me, or have Adobe got their code mixed up?
Edit: This appears to only affect 16-bit images, with 8-bit images, LZW works as expected.

But generally it is never a good idea to send e-documents as email attachments.  Better use a file sharing service (Acrobat.com, Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, ..), upload the document, then send the shared download link via email.

  • Output Compression Increasing, not Reducing File Size

    Hi guys
I have Pr CC2014 on a Win7 PC, with a Nvidia Quadro FX3800 and I'm having nothing but problems lately. Apart from CUDA doesn't open properly, my exports are getting worse and worse. The quality is much degraded from the preview in edit. Now compression seems to be working in reverse. Today a simple 9 minute interview (a mixture of hdv and hdtv clips, with just a couple of dip to black transitions and a short aep import, output to h.264, with a YouTube 720/ 25fpsHD preset), ended with a file size of 1.7gb, which is two or three times as big as all the material in the sequence! Up until CC2014, it was around 200/ 300mb! I even tried exporting to MPEG 2. Although a lower file size, it is still double what I have been getting previously and the YouTube quality isn't good enough.
    My sequence settings are:
    HDV 25 FPS,
    Frame size, 1440x1080,
Pixel aspect, HD Anamorphic 1080 (1.333),
    Fields, upper first,
    Codec MPEG I-Frame
    Composite in liner color
My output preset is h.264 but keeps defaulting to match source high bit r ate,
    profile, high,
    Level 4.1
    VBR, 1 pass
    Multiplexer settings are MP4, standard
I probably can't see the wood from the trees, but any help would be much appreciated.
    Graham

Thanks. I haven't tried AME, but I'll run it through as a test and see what happens.

  • Is there a way to "compress" or reduce keynote file size?

I have transferred some PowerPoint presentations to Keynote and in general have had no difficulty. However, I can "compress" the pictures in PowerPoint which makes the file size much smaller.
Is there any way to reduce the file size of a Keynote presentation?
    Thanks,

hi I am trying to do a project of putting a keynote saved as a quicktime into garageband and adding audio and then compressing it via Share ...sent to itunes etc. It does get smaller.
But Are there any experts out there on putting a keynote with narration into garageband. I loose all of the timing control when I send it to quicktime. It seems like a LOT of steps.
Also, putting a narration into keynote is so long. Power Point just lets you record the narration on each slide. So I was putting it into garageband and trying to add the narration podcast style. Any suggestions.

  • Maximum file size adobe send

What are the maximums allowed with Adobe Send? Such as the number of files vs. the file size, etc. Thanks.

Hi.  Im not a 100% sure this is correct.  I am able to make a large .IPA file (200+Mb) and it will go onto my iPad 1, but it does not work - Just quicts after a few secs.  If I run the same IPA on my iPad 2 it works.
When I take out some of the assets so its a smalelr size then it does run on the iPad.

  • Colorsync Utility: PDF Compression vs. Reduce File Size filters

What's the difference between these two? I used Automator to make two applications, which I think I screwed up, because they're not reducing file sizes now. 1 would make 100+ pngs into a pdf and use "reduce file size," I think. 300 MB would become 80 MB, e.g. I would then use a not-so-great PDF application called PDFStudio9 (because I lost my Acrobat DVD and couldn't get a replacement) to OCR that reduced-size pdf. At which point I would run the other application, which I think compressed the OCR'd pdf. Which would be about 40 MB at the end. But I'm not sure if that's the order of compression I used.
So what's the difference between the two types of filters, and when would I want to use each for ultimately creating a non-titanic-sized pdf?

    Cathy,
You have posted your question in a forum dedicated to the Final Cut Studio application Color. It is a very specialized program to grade (adjust) the color in video/film images. We know nothing regarding PDFs.
Have you tried posting this on an Adobe support site?

  • Best Compression Settings for Reduced File Sizes

I've been compressing MP4s and trying to improve the video file size but I'm surprised that Adobe Media Encoder is creating larger file sizes despite reducing the dimensions and audio quality. I've tried MP4 and FLV export settings. Does anyone have any recommendations?

  • Compressing project to target file size (10MB)

I have a short (around 1 min) project. I want to export it as an MPEG-4 that is under 10MB. I've tried two options in Compressor: 40kbps and 800kbps. These resulted in a 900kb file and a 13MB file, respectively. Obviously, the first one had very low quality. How can I tell Final Cut (or Compressor) to give me the best quality video file under 10MB?
If these programs aren't capable of that, can anyone recommend an alternative solution?

How can I tell Final Cut (or Compressor) to give me the best quality video file under 10MB?
Compressor - or any other software compression suite on the market, for that matter - is not 'intelligent enough' to crunch your file to fit a specific file limit. You've gotta go further along the path you've cleared - via trial and error - to get things just right.
Have you tried dialing down the bitrate on the 800kbps preset? Just to stave off any confusion, I mean:
    Import your file
    Select the 800Kbps MPEG-4 preset
Drop the video bitrate by, say, 100 in the Inspector window
Submit and see what you get (in terms of quality and file size)

  • Reduce file size to send over Internet

My daughter is submitting a 3 minute IMovie that was 6GB and I managed to reduce it to 34MG (via all the export, quicktime, etc. instructions). I need it to be 10MB max. Any suggestions for getting there? I know she brought in snippets of clips so after reading through some discussions, she's probably got a lot of extra stuff. Getting rid of it and not losing everything sounds a little scary for somewhat of a novice. Anyway, help! She's submitting tonight for a scholarship ... if we can get rid of 24MB!

A 3 minute .mov file could easily be made into a 10MB file size.
You need to use the "expert" export options and you may need to experiment with the settings.
Use H.264 or MPEG-4 Video codecs. Reduce the dimensions to 320X240. Cut the frame rate to half of source (30 fps becomes 15 fps). Reduce the data rate to under 2MB/sec.
Don't foget audio compression. Use AAC audio codec set at 44.1kHz (or lower if only voice over or camera capture audio). If you don't need stereo mono is half as large in file size.

  • Maximum file-size for HR EIC emails

    Hi folks
We currently use EIC in ERP, and have an issue with sending large emails/attachments as the maximum file-size appears to be only 2MB. This is set in the IMG activity Employee Interaction Center (EIC) -> Interaction Center Web-Client -> Communication Channels ->E-Mail -> Define E-Mail Profiles, the attachment maximum size is set to a maximum of 2,147,483 bytes.
I have tried searching for anyone else having a similar problem, but haven't found anything. I would imagine many customers would have EIC users in a Shared Services environment sending attachments over 2 meg; so before we log a call with SAP, has anyone else had this issue and how did you resolve it?
    Thanks very much.
    James

The maximum value is 2,147,483 bytes, which is what the config is set to. This seems pretty low, especially in this day and age.

Drag and Drop a picture file on a folder to which this script is attached will divide the picture's dimensions by two which means a size divided by four.

Check the length accepted in ld_attfilename and your length of file name.
For testing purpose hardcode ld_attfilename         = 'GR_ERROR_LOG' and run it.

  • PDF file size

I have an HP Officejet 6500 E710n-z (Network) that I use at home to scan into PDFs, and I know exactly how to move the slider from "Smallest size" to "Best quality"
However the size of the PDFs are unacceptably large when image quality is acceptable, and if I move the slider to reduce the size then the image becomes unacceptable.  It is impossible to scan a legal document of more than a few legible pages without producing a file size too large to email .  I am forced to break these scanned documents into 3-4 page bite-sized chunks.
A simple one page HOA Disclosure form, at 220 DPI and the slider in the middle for balance, produces a 699K PDF.  I have used other printer scanners at work (different brands) at the same 200 DPI that results in very clear documents at less than 100K per page.
I believe there is something wrong with HP's scan-to-PDF algorithm.  The problem must be due to some unskilled (or flawed) software design.  What will it take to have HP or third party developer (and developer staff supervision) take this seriously -- compare HP vs other brand scanners PDF files -- and update the HP drivers to fix this?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Just a follow up.  I went into chat mode with some low-level tech named Nathan, giving him the link to this thread.  After reading it, he suggested I can improve file size by using greyscale and 200 DPI.  DUH!!!!  I complained he was just humoring me, so he said I should call the tech support number.
I did that next and spoke with a very nice young lady who actually DID take me seriously.  I could hear her typing away vigorously in the background, capturing every detail of my plea for this to be forwarded up the chain of command for serious consideration.  It was clear she understood and captured from me that there are many forum complaints that can be found with a search term "PDF File Size" that are getting weak or unacceptable "solutions" to push the slider left or use lower DPI etc.  She also captured my assurances that some competitor brands produce PDF file sizes 20 times smaller for the same image quality.
I believe that this might actually be opened up at a higher level for consideration of an improvement in the compression algorithm.  My fingers are crossed.  Since I have about 11 months left for warranty support, I plan to contact them once or twice again before it expires, using the same case number to see if there is any progress.
Bottom line:  At my default of 200 DPI and 20% image quality, with an average file size for a single sample page producing a file size of 281KB, a 25-page document creates a PDF file that is 7MB!  That will just barely make it past the file size limit for my email provider, but might be too large for the recipient.  That is still unacceptable, and is forcing me to consider products other than HP for this business purpose.
