Compress to minimize size

I have difficulty attaching my scanned files. is there any way to resize my scanned files for easy attaching to yahoomail?

Not with Adobe Reader; possible with Acrobat, but the amount of reduction depends on the PDF's content.
Better use a file sharing service like Acrobat.com, Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, ... - upload the doc, then send the shared download location via email.

  • RE: CS4 Premiere Pro - what is best to backup/archive video to minimize size

RE: CS4 Premiere Pro -> what is best to backup/archive video to minimize size?
I use export>media to adobe media encoder. I am using the avi. the avi file generated seems large. i.e. for 27 minutes the file is 6 gb.
what is the best format to use to minimize file size?????
any help will be appreciated and thks in advance.

    >what is best to backup/archive video to minimize size?
That's the wrong question to ask. Ideally you don't change anything about the original media for backup. It's size it it's size, and you get enough of whatever you nee to accommodate that.

  • Someone knows how to minimize size video-file without lose quality?

I have been trying but I can not find the settings to minimize my video-files in size without lose quality in premier CS3,can someone help me please?.
the file is a mpg  exported mpg2 from imagemixer3SE software that comes with the camcorder I have got.
As well I have got problems finding the audio.I explain:when exporting the mpg to premiere the audio is not there, but in other programs as after effects you can see there are audio.I readed somewhere that provbably the programe forgot to import the codec and I have to find the file .nll  and import it to premiere but I do not know if this is the right answer.
    Please help!!!
    Thank you very much,
    Asyn

Unfortunately, you have posted into the Premiere forum. This is an older series of programs, prior to the introduction of the Premiere Pro line, with PrPro 1.0.
John has hit on part of your problem - MPEG-2. It is highly compressed to begin with. The best format is, as he suggests, DV-AVI Type II w/ 48KHz 16-bit PCM/WAV Audio. These files will be larger, but will edit better, and you are not likely to experience any Audio issues.
Then, for Export, you have some choices, but you must remember that comprimising the file size and bit-rate WILL diminish quality. How much, will be a function of the CODEC chosen.
What is your intended delivery, DVD-Video, or something else?
I'll bet that Curt, or Jeff, will move your post to the PrPro sub-forum, so look for it there. You will get many more responses in that forum.
    Good luck,

  • How can I shrink/compress my movie size so that it doesn't exceed the max?

I have a movie that is 1.2 gigs of regular memory, but when I put it into iDVD, the project size is over 6 gigs. Is there any way I can compress the file to make it fit?

The file size of your raw content doesn't matter. iDVD only cares about the running time of your content in minutes because it converts everything to mpg-2 content. A max of 60 minutes in 'Best Performance' mode and a max of 120 minutes in 'Best Quality' mode.

  • Help with compress function--file sizes not substantially reduced

I've tried to use the compress function (right click "compress" or Finder/File/Compress) a few times on files from a variety of different programs. While this results in creating a zip file, the file size is not substantially reduced (e.g., from 43.4 MB to 42.9 MB). Is there a way to change how much a file is compressed?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Eric

Not all material is very compressible. Text files and word processor documents usually compress very well. Photos and movies don't compress much if at all due to the nature of their structure (in some cases, using a general-purpose compressor can actually make a file larger). So it will depend on what it is you're compressing.

  • ANN: LR2/Mogrify 2.00 Released - add compress to file size feature

    Hi all,
I’ve just released version 2.00 of my LR2/Mogrify for Lightroom, which should make quite a few of you happier…
The head-line news is that there’s now a compression feature that’ll automatically find the optimum JPEG compression value to produce the best quality image that’s no larger than the requested image size (including metadata).  This is very useful for uploading to web sites that limit the maximum file size.
    But that’s not all….
Watermarks can now be scaled to the shortest or longest edge, which means they’ll be the same size on landscape and portrait images.
Annotations also receive this feature, and I’ve finally found a solution to the problems with annotations containing accented characters and such like.  You should now be able to add any text that you care to!
    Regards,
    Tim

Thanks Tim - super. Just for info purposes - I used the 'Check for Update' feature from within the plug-in this morning (prior to reading the update news) which stated no update available. So I downloaded and installed it directly from your site and alls well. I wonder could there be a small bug in the check for updates feature??

  • Trying to compress Mail folder size

I like to archive all my emails, but I noticed that the folder for Mail was getting rather large (4GB). I thought if I manually removed all the various attachments, it would make the folder size a little more manageable. But after trying with a few of the archive mailboxes (even though the attachments have successfully been removed), it seems the size of the folders are still the same. Does Mail still save the attachments despite not having them attached to messages? Am I going about this the wrong way? I don't want to lose the actual correspondences but most of the attachments are unnecessary. Please help. Thanks.

Hi , and a warm welcome to the forums!
Depending what you want to archive...
First Quit Mail, then I'd backup these two Mail folders, by right clicking on them in the Finder, then choose Archive/Compress.
    Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail
    Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail Downloads
(Could be a different folder here if you chose such in Mail Prefs)
Right click on that Mail folder, choose archive, you'll get everything in the folder, and the folder itself in a file called Mail.zip, move it to a safe place, same for the Mail Downloads folder... only the plist is separate.
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist

  • Compressed Video File Size Too Large for DVD?

I exported a one hour and 51 minute FCP Studio sequence to Compressor. I chose the 120 minute 4:3 best quality and Dolby for the audio. It took six hours and thirty five minutes to compress. When I bring the compressed "assets" into DVD Studio Pro, it indicates 5.9 gig. That won't fit on a standard DVD-R disk. Should I have used a different compression scheme when I made my choice in Compressor? Can I fit the movie on a standard DVD, or do I have to go back to FCP to shorten the sequence? What size must it be in FCP to fit on a standard DVD after Compressor and DVD Studio Pro?
    Thanks

iDVD encodes (compresses) the video before burning
the DVD, so there's no problem. Your iMovie project
    will fit.
The iDVD capacity is best expressed in time instead
of size. iMovie 4/5 can include up to 2 hours of
video. A little less, counting iDVD features.
    Karl
    Hi Karl
I have an iMovie file that is 3hr and 10min long. I have a dual layer burner and dual layer DVD's to burn onto. Will this file fit onto the 8.5GB disc? or do I have to compress it somehow? If there is some software that will do this could you let me know?
The dual layer DVD's say they will fit 215 min of video on them, so why does it reject my file when starting iDVD?
    Thanks for your help

  • Compressing/ optimising image sizes

    Hi all,
I am currently working on a horizontal image slideshow. I have around 35 large and high quality images that are simply aligned next to each other and the slideshow is controlled by horizontal scolling.
My problem is that the images take very long to load and the slideshow is constantly lagging. I have even added a preloader but it isnt really helping.
Is there any way to compress my pictures?
    Thank you,
    Nicolas

What is your average image filesize?
    Typically
    - don't use images straight out of a camera, especially DSLR's - they tend to be mb heavy;
    - use .jpg
    - resize as needed, example resize or crop images to the viewable area you are showcasing;
You can resize, crop or output for web using a variety of free or commercial applications.
What graphics application do you have at hand?

Probably not, but why would someone do something pointless like creating an empty applet?

  • Minimize size of a JComboBox

    Hi,
ive got a JComboBox rendered into a JTable. This works fine but the ComboBox is much to big. I played around with setMaximumSize in several LayoutManagers. The problem is that at a certain size it cuts the JComboBox. What to do? thanks
    uri

And I would be interested which LayoutManager you prefer using.I don't use a single Layout Manager. I use a combination of Layout Managers to do the job. Thats why this question doesn't have a specific example. Remember LayoutManagers can be nested. The default layout manager for a frame is a border layout. That great for the general look of your application.
    a) you add a toolbar to the north
    b) you add a status bar to the south
    c) you add your main panel to the center.
the main panel in turrn may use nested panels depending on your requirements. I don't do a lot of screen design but I typically use BorderLayout, FlowLayout, GridLayout and BoxLayout. GridBagLayout and SpringLayout have too many constraints to learn and master. They may be good for a GUI tool that only uses a single layout manager for the entire GUI, but I believe a better design is to break down the form into smaller more manageable areas and group components and use the appropriate layout manager for the group. That may or may not be a GridBagLayout for the small group, but I don't think you should force the entire form to use a GridbagLayout.

  • Compressing the file size?

I'm new with working with this program. My project is complete. However, my file size is too big to place on the website. any suggestions??

Go to the file menu and choose "Export w/ Quicktime Conversion". This will give you many options for a smaller (albeit lower quality) file size.

  • When downloading a file from google drive and save in my phones document directory, the file size is compressed. Why?

I have downloaded files from "Dropbox" and save in phones document directory,After downloading in document directory, the size of the download file is same as the actual size in dropbox. I can also open it from document directory.Everything is ok. But when I follow the same process for google drive files, the file size is compressed(if actual size of file is 1.2Mb the download file size is 61Kb). So I can not open it from document directory. So, How can i download the actual size of the file in document directory? I am using google api objectivec client for google drive.
    Thanks in advance.

If an iphone were to try to download a full size document ot photo, it woul overload its own ram, and crash, resulting in a laggy iphone. Therefore it is compresses

  • File and/or vocal size compression

New to Mac and GB (got a new MacBook for Christmas)...
I have a school assignment: to record a 30-minute speech, and I'd like to do it using the onboard mic in my new MacBook. I've noodled with GB and have figured out how to record it, but is it possible to break down or compress the file size and/or vocal size so that it's not pushing 10 gb? I tested a few options (turning the mic from stereo to mono, etc.), but even this yields a one minute file that's 13 - 15 mb. Any suggestions? Is GB even the best program with which to tackle this?
    jeff

I would probably lean towards an Audio editor rather than GB
    http://thehangtime.com/gb/gbfaq2.html#audioeditors
    but GB will work fine.
GB records audio at the highest quality that it can, 44.1Kc/16-bit AIFF audio. This sample rate and bit depth creates a file that is just a bit over 10MB/minute of recording, and this will also be reflected in the export when you Send to iTunes (if you're project does not have a podcast track in it) ... it will export a high quality 44.1K/16-bit uncompressed AIFF file.
Once in iTunes you can convert the file to an mp3 which is more like 1MB/minute (though you can choose the quality/size)
    http://thehangtime.com/gb/gbfaq2.html#converttomp3
