Compressed files default to open in MS Office with new Mini

When I try to decompress stuff/zipped files, Tiger is defaulting to open them in MS Office. When I try to change the App in the "Open With" control click, I can't find the BOMA app.

Seems to be the Issue is Syncing emails, now I would recommend you to Remove and Add the Account and try and check if the emails are getting synced automatically.
Hope this is with Single User. If it is with Multiple Users then we need to check the permissions assigned.

Make Word files default to open in Pages?

Can you set certain extensions, specifically .doc files to automatically open in Pages when double clicked? How is this done to skip any "open with" command or dragging it to the icon?

Welcome to Apple discussions.
You can easily set .doc files to open in Pages, and it's surprisingly easy: just go to the Finder, single-click on any .doc file, the type command-I (Get Info). Click on the Open With... menu and select Pages (or navigate to Pages if it's not in the menu. To make all .doc files open in Pages, click on the Change All button.

When opening .doc from website link, FF appends .docx extention to file & does not open in Word 2010, with incorrect file format error. Pls Help

I'm using Firefox v12 to open a hyperlink from a website that points to a filename.doc MS Word Document for download.
We are then asked to open the file with MS Word (Default), which our installed version is MS Word 2010.
Firefox then renames the file appending a .docx to the filename e.g filename.doc.docx. MS Word 2010 opens with error 'incorrect file format', which is correct as Firefox has renamed it.
Is there a fix or workaround for this?

I can save the file and it opens fine.
It's when I open it directly, Firefox appends the 'docx' extenstion to the filename.
If I continue to reopen from the web link, Firefox renames the file as so
mydoc.doc-1.docx
mydoc.doc-2.docx
mydoc.doc-3.docx
I can open a .doc from a Microsoft site ok.
I have the feeling it's the way the web server is reporting the mime type to Firefox.
The link in question works fine in Internet Explorer.

.CR2 files won't open in CS3 on a new WIN7 'puter

I just got a new 'puter with WIN7 installed. I installed CS3 and updated ACR to 4.6, (removed the old .8bi, (or whatever it was), file first). I am shooting a Canon 40D BTW...
I still can't open .CR2 files - I ge something like: "could not complete your request as it is not the right kind of document". They will not open in Bridge or CS3.
My discussion with tech support left me with "Bridge can't open .CR2 files..."
My next step, unless someone here can offer something easier/better, is to uninstall CS3 and reinstall.

Do you see Camera Raw listed correctly in Photoshop > Help > About Plug-in?
Don't re-install until you've tried resetting all three sets of preferences and purged the Bridge cache.

Project file failing to open on different machine with same version of FCP

i have been editing a documentary on my mac book, on an upgraded version of final cut studio two. i recently got an iMac, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.66 GHz, and planned to continue editing the same project on this. i loaded fC studio to it, but when i tried to open my existing project file, it tells me that the project file's format is too new for the version of the application. but it's the exact same version!
totally stumped.

When you upgraded to the latest OS, do you mean from say Tiger to Leopard? If so and it wasn't done cleanly as an erase and install of that new OS, I'd suggest this could very well be the reason you're having problems...
If you'd like you could send me a copy of this project file... [email protected] If I can open it, it's likely your install that's causing the problem, and the fix is to wipe your hard drive and start over, or get another drive to start up from that's cleanly installed.

Problems opening some PDF's with new version of Adobe Reader X

Ever since the latest update for adobe reader has come out I have been unable to open some PDF's. This was never an issue with the older version. When I try to open certain PDF's the reader says "Not Responding" and nothing happens. This does not happen on all PDF's, just some.

Ditto on Darrenz16's problem. New WIN7-64 Home Premiun system with Adobe Reader 10.1.2. Reads several files, then starts locking up when I try opening new files. Seems like Reader is failing to release some resource and eventually running out of whatever it is. Rebooting seems to help temporarily. Never had this problem on previous systems. I got this message. Followed instructions I found on Apple Support: Home-->Music-->iTunes. Dragged iTunes folder onto desktop. iTunes 8.2.1 opened but it was as if I'd never used iTunes before. It restored some of my music but very little compared to what I had. I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.3 and recently had my HD crash after trying to install OS10.7. Got a new HD, transferred files, etc. from ext. HD. Have had several problems since with HD corruption....Missing iPhoto pictures, too. Help!

ITunes will not open on 1Phone 4 with new iso6 update

Since making the bad decision to update to the new iso I have had and endless list of problems.
But my main annoyance is the fact that iTunes doesn't work on my phone anymore - It opens but the screen is blank.
I have closing the app and restarting the phone and iTunes is up to date.

Apps not opening on iphone 4 with new IOS 6.1 upgrade

Ever since I update my IOS on my iphone 4 to 6.1, My applications are not opening properly. Most of the time the will appear as if they are opening but nothing loads up in them. I have tried various resets and nothing has fixed it. I hope this bug gets fixed soon. It's super annoying.
The phone often times will become unresponsive.
In addition to the app issue and the unresponsivness , My battery life has diminished severely. I used to go 2 days without charging my phone but now i dont think i will make it half a day. I'm sure im not the only one having these issues.

Slow scrolling & lag problems using Office with new iMac desktop OS X Lion

Just bought a new iMac 21.5 desktop with OS X Lion after using a PC with windows my whole life. Downloaded latest version of Microsoft Office to use with my spreadsheets for my business and found that whenever I use larger spreadsheets and use filters (500 rows/20 columns) the scrolling is so slow with such a delayed response and lagtime, that it is practically useless. Already checked the possible "duplicate font" problem mentioned on some sites but that did nothing. What can be done to fix this issue???

If the issue only occurs when you use Excel then you may want to click the Office for Mac Product Forums and repost. One thing to look at is how much RAM your system has and how much is FREE. As a general rule of thumb OS X likes 500 MB or more of FREE RAM, keep Activity Monitor running (Applications - Utilities - Activity Monitor) and when you sense a slow down look at AM and click the System Memory tab, if you see it's in the 500MB or less range then it's simple, upgrade the RAM. You should be looking for something similar to:

Big lagging when i open a flash game with new firefox 8.0 version

Since i updated my Firefox to 8.0, i am experiencing big lagging when i open a flash game; it takes longer than usual and when i finally get to play the game, within 3-4 minutes it shows error in the flash application and i have to reload my page again. Try creating a new document in the app on your IOS device. After I did that, i.e. a new random spreadsheet in numbers, all of my documents downloaded.

You should have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
Apple has removed over 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

The Office licenses are for either a single machine or 3 machines, depending on which you bought.
