Compressing audio/video with mono sound

Hey all,
I have a video that has mono sound. On the left channel no sound and on the right channel the sound itself. Now I want to use compressor to compress the video and audio to AppleTV format. When I convert it the sound stays the same.
My questions is how to I combine both audio channels to 1 channel or how to I get sound in both channels.
Stefan Segers

To get the audio to be routed to both left and right output channels, open the video in your NLE (FCE, FCP, Premier, etc) and pan the audio to center. Export and recompress in Compressor.

EMBDED AUDIO VIDEO WITH 5.1 ON FCS 2
    DEAR MEMBERS
IAM USING INTEL MAC PRO MACHINE AND FCS 2 .
ON THE FCP 6 TRACKS OF AIFF AUDIO WITH VIDEO
I WANT TO CREATE EMBDED AUDIO VIDEO WITH 5.1 SORROUND IS IT POSSIBLE ?
with ucncompressed format i dont know how to export with comprerssor or sound track pro
WITH WITH THIS CONFIGURATION. HOW CAN WE DO IT. CAN U HELP US

FCP Does NOT do Surround Sound.
You will need to Edit your project as normal in FCP.
When you're edit is complete you will export your Audio to SoundTrack Pro where you will complete your Surround Sound Audio Mix.RightClick your Audio on the timeline > Send To Soundtrack
    http://www.apple.com/es/finalcutstudio/soundtrackpro/sound.html
You can use Soundtrack Pro 2 to do audio mixing and panning for 5.1 surround sound, and then carry the resulting audio into FCP. However, you’ll need additional hardware (costing anywhere from $300 to $2,000) to get those six audio channels out to speakers—the Mac’s built-in digital audio optical port won’t suffice.
    - People in this forum seem to hate it when I mention Vegas... but Vegas is the only NLE I know of that will mix your surround sound audio directly from the timeline.

  • Creating Dynamic Audio/Video with OSMF Framework?

Hi All, Thanks to this forum and the OSMF framework - I learn ways to improve my application each day with OSMF. I am experimenting creating dynamic sound as well as video and was wondering if that is possible with the OSMF framework. Can I write a plugin that will allow me to stream a media file and modify it before playing it in the flash player? I could do this with the sampleDataEvent in Sound class and also had some success using netstream appendBytes in flash 10.1. Can i use the OSMF framework for such applications? Does the plug-in architecture allow me to create a media element as a byte array ?
    Thanks

Let us back track through the details.
Premiere Elements 11 on Windows XP 32 bit.
What are the video compression and file extension of the file created in PowerPoint? What version PowerPoint? What is the frame size and frame rate?
What are the audio compression and file extension (mp3 or .wav) of the audio created with this Cubase software? Are you dealing with mono, stereo, or 5.1 channel?
From your description, it sounds like you are letting version 11 set the project preset for you. What is it setting? We can find that out from the reading under Edit Menu/Project Settings/General - Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size, Pixel Aspect Ratio, even if the fields appear to be grayed out.
If you import your .wmv export back into the Premiere Elements project, do you see content in both the video and audio tracks? If so, do both play back when you press the play button of the Edit area monitor?
Have you checked Edit Menu/Preferences/Audio Hardware and ASIO and have you checked out your audio in the Edit area with the Audio Meter opened to verify sound level? See Window Menu/Audio Meters.
Is the problem confined to this PowerPoint video and Cubase audio? What happens if you try this with a video from your camera and soundtrack from one of the SmartSound soundtracks?
Please review the above and then let us know the answers to the questions.
    Thank you.

  • Creating (sharing) a video with a sound-track as .wmv file,  no sound track. Any ideas?

I'm a new user, and I have imported a video file (created by PowerPoint, and a sound-track (created by Cubase software from Steinberg.
When I view the video within Premiere Elements it's all there - video and audio both. However, when I try to create an external .wmv file (Publish+Share), I don't get any audio.
Set up is Windows PC running Windows XP SP3, with 4 GB of RAM, and 500 GByte hard drive. Premiere Elements version is 11.0
    What I'm doing:
I imported the input video file and dropped it on the main Video1 timeline. Then I dropped the finished sound-track on Audio 1. When I click Play, I hear the sound-track and see the video. To Publish+Share, I select Computer from the drop-down menu. Then, in the location and settings list I select Windows Media.I choose 720*480 pixels, 4:3 aspect ration and 29.97 frames per second. In the Advanced.. panel, I make certain that Export Video and Export Audio are both checked. Ther dialog box reports that it will create a 174 MByte file, with 440 kbps/ 96 kHz audio in a 2-channel configuration.
So I click Save, and the program hems and haws for about 34 minutes, and says it's done. All I get is the video - in a 16.414 MByte file (the original input file, also .wmv was only 9.1 MBytes), so something must have happened. However, all I get is video, and no sound-track.
I'm totally convinced that the problem lies between my ears, but I'd like to hear someone provide some guidance. I've missed the deadline for an important project, and I don't want to slip any further :-(

  • PrObLeM WiTh IpOd pLaYiNg ViDeOs WiTh No SoUnD!! HELP ME!!

i have a ipod nano 8gb 3rd generation i just got a couple of weeks ago. i got it, read the directions, got the latest downloads, loaded itunes, put my music, videos, everything on itunes, and connected my i sync all of my music on mai ipod with no problem. but when i sync my videos onto my ipod....THERE IS NO SOUND!! the videos were previously converted before i synced them on the ipod. PLEASE HELP ME RESOLVE THIS PLEASE!!

QuickTime expects video files with separate video and audio tracks, but many MPEG formats used a muxed (multiplexed) single track that contains both. Therefore, when you convert videos in iTunes to iPod format they only show the video and no sound since iTunes (really QuickTime) is not looking for the audio track within the video track and it gets lost.
iPod plays video but not audio of some exported files
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302588
One way to work around this is to use MPEG Streamclip to convert the files to fix this issue...
    http://www.squared5.com/
but there are other applications besides MPEG Streamclip you can try as well.

  • Videos with no sound - not codec or file type related

Last night my wife and I were at a concert and she recorded a couple songs on her droid incredible 2. There is no audio when played back on the phone or on the pc. we made sure the 'sound recording on' option was checked so I'm sure that's not the issue.
i've copied the file to my pc, converted it to every video format known to man and have tried quicktime, VLC, ect. can someone please help me get to the bottom of this? thanks in advance!

    Hello themadstork,
I know how important it is to be able to capture a memorable moment like this, and can imagine how frustrating it was to find there was no audio attached to the videos!
I checked to see if anything like this has been reported, and didn't find anything.
Have you recorded any other videos with your HTC Droid Incredible 2?  If so, was there sound on any of those videos?  Also, when you played the video on your PC was there audio when played?
Let me know so I can further assist.

  • Best compression for video with a lot of static text and graphics

Hello! I am producing an instructional DVD and am getting ready to output the files and was wondering what the best compression format would be for me to use.
About 1/3 of the clips consist of video shot in SD with very little movement (guy sitting at a desk talking to the camera.) The rest contains graphics created in After Effects and then imported back into Final Cut. The graphics are primarily text based, and don't change too often. There are some still images as well, but they are static for the most part save for some occasional panning. Oh, and the total length of all the video clips is about 70 minutes.
I would like to compress these videos so as to get the best possible quality in the text. I did a few tests, but the quality in the letters seemed a little worse than I had hoped. Is this just going to be an inevitability I have to live with, or is there a particular setting that would help me out?
Thanks for reading this; any help would be greatly appreciated!
PowerBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.7) 1.25 GB DDR SDRAM

You know--I really have no idea why I didn't do it that way. I exported uncompressed files from After Effects and then imported them into FCP; some of the files are huuuge, like 60 GB+
I think in the next version of this I will probably just edit in FCP then import it into AE, and then export from there. As it stands though, I've sort of made some changes and done stuff in FCP after importing the clips, so I'd like to just export using Compressor.
So are you saying it's better to export uncompressed from FCP and then import that into Compressor and go from there? I've been just selecting the 'Export Using Compressor' option in FCP and going from there...
    Thanks!

  • Firewire speeds and audio/video with Apple TV

    Hello,
I hope someone can give me some advice regarding 400 vs 800 Firewire connections.
After picking up an Apple TV about 8 months back, I have decided to consolidate all the audio/video content on my wife's and my Macbooks.
Looking at grabbing a Mac mini and connecting a large hard disk via Firewire to that to store everything. I don't plan on connecting the Mac mini to the TV...will continue to use the Apple TV unit for that. However, while some some of the content will sync between the Apple TV unit and external hard disk connected to the Mac mini, I figure there will still be a good portion that would be shared/streamed off the external disk as it is viewed or listened to.
I currently have an Airport Extreme network, and I am able to share/stream video and audio from my Macbook to the Apple TV and it works great. My question is, when I add the Mac mini and start streaming/sharing off the external hard disk attached to it, will there be a difference in performance if the drive is connected via 400 Firewire vs an 800 Firewire?
I figure the wireless transfer between the Mac mini and the Apple TV would be the limiting factor, but felt it prudent to at least check if the Firewire connection would have an effect.
If not, then I plan on picking up a cheap, used older model Mac mini with the 400 Firewire port to save some cash. The machine doesn't need to do anything more than stay powered on with the iTunes app running and sending files back and forth to the Apple TV.
    Thanks in advance!

+I figure the wireless transfer between the Mac mini and the Apple TV would be the limiting factor, but felt it prudent to at least check if the Firewire connection would have an effect.+

No doubt the wireless transfer is the weakest link in the chain. Firewire 800 is substantially faster than 400, so you would gain some future-proofing by going with it. And the 2009 Minis come with Wifi-N, while the older models come with G/B.
A used Mini will usually lack the Apple warranty.
Minis are so handy that you have to ask yourself, why is someone getting rid of it? My somewhat cynical answer is that many Minis being sold on the used market are being gotten rid of because of some lurking problem issue that the owner hasn't been able to resolve.
If you must buy an older model, consider an Apple refurbished Mini, which comes with full warranty and current software.

  • [keynote] update iPad mini ios7 then video with no sound

Have no idea, video sound was working on keynote previously iOS
But after upgrading to ios7, some video in keynote play with no sound and some with sound in the same file.
I already reboot my iPad mini, re-save and re-import my keynote file, check the mute function
And I also restore to the previous backup.
Now the videos in keynote file are still with the problem of no sound.
    Please help me
    Thanks!

My keynote file include over 150 pages and most of the pages play with video file.
The file size is about 4GB.
Anyway I solve the problem by re-converting the video files.
    Following is my solution :
    1. Download the iFun box application and install in the Mac which I want to sync with my iPad
    2. Open the app when iPad sync with the computer
    3. Find the keynote file in keynote app.
    4. And also I can find the resource files ( pictures and videos separately ) which I use in the keynote file.
    5. Copy the video files to Mac
    6. Use file convert application (such as Qtime) and re-save the .mov files as .mov files again.
    7. Copy the re-convert files to the original directory to keynote app via iFun box.
    8. Then play the keynote file in iPad mini now with sound ok.

  • MP4 Videos with "some" sound!

I have some mp4 files that play well on iTunes but when viewing on my iPod the sound doesnt work very well. What should i do?I mean i know about the Muxed files and the convert system on iTunes...what should i do?

I am very new at this whole iPOd thing so bear with me. I have some video that I put into the iPod and at first it wouldnt play with sound so by reading these forums, I found the problem was the format so I went and downloaded the ImToo converter program and that worked great, somewhat...the problem now seems to be that the video and the sound dont line up. Any ideas? And the other stupid question I have, you say to downgrade to the older version using ipod wizards, I dont understand really what this is, etc. I am not a real computer savvy person either. Thanks

  • Videos with choppy sound?

Whenever I take a video with my digital camera, I'll upload it to iTunes and then convert it (origionally a MOV quicktime movie format) and then I'll put it on my ipod. whenever I go to play it, it doesnt play what it should (likes voices and nosie and such) but only static. How can I fix this?

Try using a 3rd-Party video converter, such as Videora (www.videora.com). The included video converter with the free-version of Quicktime + iTunes is not all that reliable.

  • Importing Alg Audio & Video with distorted audio, how to improve sound now.

Been using iMovie & Quicktime to import Analog A/V. This last project I imported the movie into iMovie. The sound has lots of echo and distortion. Can someone tell me what would be the best iLife program to use for audio correction.
Can you also help me with a jump start on some of the best quick corrections for distorted sound, echo & hiss. I would like to restore the audio as best as I can with the iLife programs.
For the record I am also interested in turning stereo audio into surround sound.
Help for my rookie self would be much appreciated as I am currently in a tight time crunch.
    Many thanks.

  • Premiere Elements 13 (not Pro), recorded a video with mono mic input (left channel only), need to create 2-channel (left and right) audio track for finished product. Help?

The question says it all. I have been all over the tutorials as well as the menus inside Premiere 13 and cannot find how to edit the audio track beyond basic balance, volume, etc.
I can see the Audio 1 track, shows audio in left channel only, but it will not respond to attempts to select, cut/copy, paste, etc.
Basically I just want to turn one-channel audio into two-channel audio.

    25424...
Sure you do not want to give the Fill Left and Fill Right another try?
According to the Adobe document Adobe Premiere Elements Help | Effects reference
    Fill Left, Fill Right
The Fill Left effect duplicates the left channel information of the audio clip and places it in the right channel, discarding the original clip’s right channel information. The Fill Right effect duplicates the right channel information and places it in the left channel, discarding the existing left channel information. For example, you might use this effect on footage shot with a monaural microphone plugged into only one channel of a camcorder, extending the voice of a speaker from one channel to both.
From what you wrote, your Premiere Pro video seems to be saying the same.
If that Premiere Elements Fill Left or Fill Right is no go, you might want to explore what you can do in this regard using the free audio editor Audacity.
Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder
And, then import the Audacity edited audio back into Premiere Elements project as source media.
    Is the speaker system OK?
We will be watching for your results.
    Thanks for the follow up.

  • Videos with no sound!

i have a 30gb ipod video, but i cant get the videos to play with sound? what do i do?

Quicktime or Quicktime Pro (which iTunes uses) don't convert "muxed" ( muxed means multiplexed where the audio and video are stored on the same track) video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio.
See:iPod plays video but not audio.
You need a 3rd party converter to convert the file with both audio and video.
See this for help: Guide to converting video for iPod (Mac/Windows).
