Compressing for Itouch

Hi all,
I have a 1280x540 square pixel video I need to convert to play back on an Itouch and was wondering a couple of things:
1> I know the Itouch has a 480x320 screen but I don't know if it is square pixels or non-square. The aspect ratio suggests non-square.
2> If I am compressing for that screen size, do I need to letterbox my video first before compressing it or will it display my 2.21:1 aspect ratio video like a regular computer would?
3> I have heard the maximum bit rate is around 1500kbps, is this true?

how do i use parallel compression for 4 drum tracks in Logic pro 7.2.3 Please. my version is 7.2.3 and my son did his drums on 4 tracks. 2 OH's 1 Kick and 1 Snare. Were confused because we cant figure out how to do parallel compression on the older logic version 7.2.3?

I can't remember when the Aux tracks became the new buss tracks, so I'll spell this out using busses.
The way I do it, is I assign all my drum tracks to a buss, say buss 1.
Then, on buss 2, I assign it's INPUT to buss 1.
So buss 1 (all the drums) are feeding into buss 2 simultaneously.
Put a compressor on buss 2, turn the fader down all the way, then as the track is playing, bring buss 2's fader up slowly, until you hear the effect you're after.
You could also do this using sends on the 4 drum tracks, set to feed the buss with the compressor on it.
I hope I haven't forgotten anything particular to that version of Logic. See if this helps...

How to specify COMPRESS FOR OLTP on a table in physical model?

Hi,
we have licensed Oracle's Advanced Compression and want to use the OLTP compression on some tables. I am looking for a way to specify COMPRESS FOR OLTP on a table in the physical model. So far, I can only set "Data Compression" to YES or NO.
Are you going to add the "new" compression modes in the next release?

But since you ask, my favourite Apps (apart from the in-built ones) are:
aNote (Awesome Note), which - guess what - it's a note taker app.
BBC News - 'cos I like to keep up with the news, but I don't have a TV.
Lemonrock - gig listings in pubs etc. (This may well be a UK only App)
Accounts - keep a note of how much money I (don't) have.
Soundhound - for finding out what music is being played
Tesco - my local supermarket shopping list
You'll note that I've only listed six, not ten. Well, they're my helpful useful ones. You may not like any of them or may not be able to get them if you're not in the UK. Either way, what anyone else thinks is useful or helpful doesn't help you, does it?
My advice, and feel free to ignore it, is take your time deciding which Apps you want. Otherwise, you'll simply end up with lots of Apps you don't like and don't use. Decide what sort of App you think may be of use to you and then read the reviews on it and see if you can use those to decide if it's for you.

Video compression for iPad?

We use Final Cut Pro 7 - and frequently compress our HD videos we make using Compressor. We use high end HD cameras, etc., and have beautiful results when compressing at, say 20 - 30mbs for display on HD monitors and televisions. We know how to compress for iPod and Apple TV, and various web sizes . . . but what parameters should we be using for the iPad?
I've read it plays up to 2.5mbs??
I hope I'm WRONG, because with fast moving subjects, you'll see a lot of pixelation at that low data rate.
I looked in the Compressor templates, but don't see one for iPad. Anyone know what settings we should be using? Or what's the highest data rate an iPad will play?

But i get:
SQL-Fehler: ORA-14464: Kompressionstyp nicht angegeben
The "compatible"-Parameter is set to 11.1:

11.1.0.0.0
Do i have to change something in the database?

I did this kind of compression within migration project before.
I performed index compress first and then export -> import with table compress.
One thing you should take care, delete nocompress flag from TARGET.SQL (created by program SMIGR_CREATE_DDL, program SMIGR_CREATE_DDL created pure non-compression objects for these considered non-standard tables). For table columns > 255, we should not delete this flag.
Regarding to the index compress in source system, please check the following notes:

Tweaking compression for YouTube

I am trying to make the best possible files for uploading to YouTube. I am working with HDV Quicktimes exported from FCP and compressing using the AIC codec and a frame size of 640x360, as YouTube requires for 16:9. The longest file is 10:30 and comes in at 1.14 gig, just over the YouTube limit. I can't find a way to change the codec to reduce the file size. Is there any way to adjust quality with this codec?
Changing the frame size from 1440x1080 to 640x360 would have largely done the trick, I would have thought. But it doesn't seem to make much difference. In fact, I exported 2 versions out of FCP, one at the original frame size and one at 640x360 and both files are the same size! Can't for the life of me figure out why that is.
If anyone has any tips about compressing for YouTube channels, please let me know. Ideally we would upload files just under a gig so that YouTube's compression doesn't completely kill the quality.

Best compression for ken burns effect

Hey,
I am doing a 2 minute animation that is all ken burns effect. The size is 720 x 1280. On the images that have a lot of detail like brickwork, there is a noticeable pop where you can see compression for a few frames and then it clears up.
I am making a h264 mpg movie straight out of AE. Any ideas?

Yes. I have an idea. Don't do that.
AE is definitely not the best tool for making an H.264. Render an intermediate file out of AE (lossless or nearly lossless, such as Quicktime with the PNG codec, Quicktime with the PhotoJPEG codec, Cineform, or DNxHD). Then use the Adobe Media Encoder to make the H.264. Use multipass compression. Adjust the keyframe distance, etc. The cool thing is that you won't have to render your AE comp over and over again for each time you need to test a different setting in your compression. You're just running off of the already rendered intermediate file.

Jpeg compression for tiff image (nt gettin a view of jpeg compressd pages)

I have a problem of jpeg compression inside a tiff file. When I convert no. of pages in a multi-page tiff file I m not getting a view of jpeg compressed pages. I convert black and white as well as gray scale jpeg images inside the tiff file. I used Compression Group4 for black and white image and JPEG compression for gray scale image. Also set the dpi of each page. But most of the viewer doesnt support my jpeg compressed pages. When I set the quality of jpeg images to 0.1f that time I m getting a view of particular images for some image viewer.
My requirement is to show the jpeg compressed image inside the IMAGING PREVIEW 2.5 VERSION. But it doesnt support for my output tiff. As well as cant get properties of that page inside the Fax viewer except Resolution 200x200 dpi.
     If anybody has any idea to compressed jpeg image inside the tiff file, please tell me how I can compress the gray scale image using jpeg compression.

I think somewhere I m doin wrong. Somewhere I wrote wrong code, cause d properties of jpeg compressd images also not getting in Fax Viewer except DPI. I change the BaselineTIFF Tags of JPEG compressed image, but cant manage output yet. I think d problem create at d time of metadata writing. My problem is tht, tiff created using sum other soft. is suppported by IMAGING PREVIEW 2.5 VERSION, y nt mine?

Correct audio compression for web playback.

I am making a webseries and I want to know what is the best audio compression for web playback.
I tried H.264, but the audio levels were much lower when I played it back outside of finalcut.
