Converting a 1080i Prores timeline to SD DVD.. In the past I've encoded only progressive timelines, and I have frame controls with everything on Best..
With interlaced footage and frame controls on best it wants like 10 hours per minute of footage.. I've traced it down to the deinterlacing setting.. If I put deinterlacing on fast.. its like 6:1 render time.. and about 12:1 at deinterlacing at better..
My question is if its going from 1080i interlaced to 480i interlaced, why is it even deinterlacing the footage to begin with??
This may sound wrong, but 720x480 is a 4:3 ratio video stream (that is to say it is the right dimensions for MPEG-2 or DV that will be played to a 4:3 TV). Squish your 1920x1080 square pixels into the 720x480 non square pixels, and it will be anamorphic, and will play looking correct on a TV.

This is a Compressor 3 issue I'm trying to compress a M2V for a DVD but it keeps creating a shaky look to my entire video. I have done this multiple times, but what is new to this FCP project is text zooming in, Canon 7D footage, and light rays layered on top of my video and text. I have looked up this issue on creative cow with no luck. I've tried single pass and double pass, still leaves me with shaky footage. I need this project to be done for a client and I can't explain why it isn't working.
Do this in two passes. First resize your video from HD to SD. Then import your SD into compressor. All DVD footage is 720x480 for NTSC and 720x576 for PAL. You want to create anamorphic SD video to handle the widescreen. One of the easiest ways to debug your DVDs is to rip them back before burning them to disk. In DVD Studio Pro use the format option instead of burn. This will create a VIDEO_TS folder on your hard drive which you can then read using software. Rip the video back from the DVD with DVDxDV or another professional DVD ripper that can output video in Quicktime ProRes. Import your video into Final Cut Pro, and play it back. When you get the encoding right, go ahead and burn the DVD in DVD SP.

I've searched around and have surprisingly not found anyone with this question:
How do you go from 1080i to an anamorphic SD DVD?
What I have done is the following:
In FCP 5, create new sequence. There is not a sequence preset that offers 1920x1080, so I choose any preset and then change the settings in the sequence settings window. In sequence settings, I select "HDTV 1080i (16:9)" from the aspect ratio dropdwon menu. This provides me with my desired 1920x1080 frame size. I then use a "square" pixel aspect ratio and not anamorphic. So far so good.
However, then I want to use this HD footage to make an anamorphic SD DVD. My idea was to use an "NTSC DV Anamorphic" sequence (sequence settings: 720x480, 4:3 aspect ratio, NTSC CCIR 601 pixel aspect ratio and anamorphic checked) in FCP and nest my HD sequence into this sequence. Here's where the problem lies:
If I follow the sequence settings, 720x480 is not a 4:3 aspect ratio but is rather "NTSC DV 3:2". Thus I can't get the HD sequence to fit the 720x480 frame - I either have to crop the HD or squish it to fit the 720 frame or resize the HD so that there is a letterbox encoded into the file. I would like to avoid the latter option and simply have the HD fit the SD frame and then encode it as anamorphic. This, as we all know, will result in a letterboxed image on a 4:3 display and a fullscreen image on a 16:9 display.
How do you accomplish this?
The FCP HD Format manual says (in reference to upscaling, but the principles are the same):

How is 720x480 anamorphic the same aspect ratio as 1920x1080?! I don't get how to accomplish this is FCP.
In essence, my question is how do you go from HD 1080i to SD DVD and have the DVD be anamorphic all the while maintaining the full image (no croppping or distortion)??
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

A .exe file is a Windows executable. OS X does not run Windows programs. If you need to use .exe files then you will need to install Windows on your Mac:

Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive. -
HELP! Cannot Compress Footage to Single Layer DVD...
Here's my problem.
I cannot compress footage to single layer DVD. I'm trying to make a DVD with motion menus and a full length feature. TRT 1 hr 47 min 3 sec. I compressed the video and audio using compressor after it did not fit on one single layer DVD the first attempt. The file sizes of the newly compressed video and audio are adequate to fit on the 4.7GB DVD but after importing the into DVD Studio Pro 4 (DSP4) the disc size comes out to 5.1GB. After DSP4 does its own encoding the file sizes double. I cannot figure this out. Please help.

a link to explain how to use A.pack for a dvd project (providing that you have A.pack still, otherwise you will have to use Compressor, depending what version of the suite you have.

Depending on your version of Compressor, you may have A pack or you may not...
An AIFF File could increase your project by a gig...
There shouldn't be any problem in fitting that size project on a single layer project...

Apple "veriifes" your Apple ID account information everytime you download media whether free or paid thus the authorization hold. Your account will be credited the amount of the holds usually within 24 to 48 hours.

Why am I being charged for data when connected to wifi AND not using my phone?!
WHY am I being charged for data that I'm not using? At times when I'm asleep AND my phone is connected to wifi?! This happens at really specific, alternating times like 9:54 pm every day, or 12:01 am, 6:01 am and then 12:01pm and 6:01pm. When I called I was told "maybe your wifi at home is disconnecting" or "maybe your phone is connecting to atnt or sprint". It's not possible that my phone is disconnecting from wifi every six hours on the dot and, at that exact time, I'm always using data. I find it hard to believe that I live in a HUGE city and my phone magically connects to other networks and I NEVER notice this. Verizon is full of LIARS (and maybe’s) and I'm not convinced that these data charges are a coincidence. I was told to turn off my cellular data to see if the problem resolves itself. Why should I alter my daily life when Verizon is clearly the one with the issue? I hope there's a class action lawsuit because Verizon is trying to get over on everyone! I need answers!

Why is does my apple run SLOW.you go to open a program and the circle thing just spins for a delayed period of time. You change from typing in a word doc and go to say email or internet and it takes several minutes to allow you open anything up. Like it is frozen. I have tried rebooting the computer and it works for a few minutes then gets stuck.

Why am I being told my email address has changed and need to change it for my apple id to work?
Not just iTunes store, but every day or so, when I'm trying to check for updated apps in iTunes, or download something on iPhone or update OS X software via App Store, I'm told that my email address has changed and I need to update it before I can download tunes from iTunes.
I then get redirected to a page where my apple id is shown (my email address), the address field is blank and a couple of password fields with ****** in them.
I put my email address (apple id) back in and all is well.
Why is it being reset all the time?
I don't have another apple id with the same address, but I do have a lot of devices using my one apple id:
A Mac (Lion latest)
iPhone 4S (iOS5 latest)
iPad 1 (iOS5 latest)
iTunes on XP (latest iTunes)
iPhone 3G (iPhone OS 3 - yea, really ancient)

AaroniCloud backs up your iOS device (not your Mac) automatically. You can remove the backup:

and it will not back up again. This will not affect a backup made using iTunes. The notice you see refers to calendars, contacts, iWork documents and so on, which live on the server and are read from there by your Mac, and so will obviously disappear if you turn iCloud off altogether (which you don't need to do) or turn off Documents (which you don't need to do either). -

@Lex: I'm really wondering about those two old applications
1) I didn't find anything useful about camerawindow or canon tools, except that it helps connecting my canon powershot G15 camera with a smartphone... don't even says if it works with my camera model nor if it works with mavericks...
2) ...Silverlight/OutOfBrowser/SLLauncher.app: Is it needed for what? After looking up it just said useful for webbrowsers, maybe better video quality etc. isn't that something good? if I delete it from my library will there e noteable differences when I use the internet?

Why is the itunes download so slow
why is the itunes download so slow - I am trying to download itunes update to recognize my new ipod touch 5th generation and my pc will not even show it in itunes, in trying to download the update the speeds are so slow that it is estimating download time in days. I have stopped and started the apple in services, but it is still unrecognized.
you know very well it has nothing to do with itunes or the modem/router. apple servers are very very slow and its an absolute disgrace.
you can download from third party servers at twice the speeds (at your own risk)

Boot from your install disc & run Repair Disk from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
Select your language.

Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
Click Repair Disk.

Sluggish Finder - Bunch of icons on your desktop? An overcrowded desktop slows down your Mac. Get rid of needless Finder calculations - Open a window in Finder/View/Show View Options: ensure "Calculate All Sizes" option is unchecked.
Internet related - It's likely that your broadband connection is the bottleneck. You can check your speed on http://www.speedtest.net to see how fast your connection is. If your web browser specifically performs slowly, quit and relaunch it. If browser remains sluggish, empty its cache. Safari/Empty Cache Firefox/Preferences - select the Network tab of the Advanced preferences and click the "Clear Now" button in the "Offline Storage" area.
Application related - Launch "Activity Monitor" - Applications/Utilities - click the CPU heading and see what float to the top. If an application takes up a large chunk of CPU and won't let it go, it could be dragging down your Mac's performance. Quit it by clicking the Quit Process button at the top of the Activity Monitor window.
Too little ram - max out your ram.
