Compressor 3.5 hangs on creating DVD

All I want to do is burn a simple standard definition viewing DVD.
No matter if I use *"Share - Burn DVD"* in Final Cut Pro 7 or the new *"Burn DVD"* in Compressor 3.5, the encoding/processing goes almost all the way through and then *hangs forever* on the last few seconds. No DVD gets burned and I have to force quite Compressor AND force quit the "Burn DVD" app that also shows up in my list of running apps.
My video source is a short clip in ProRes (HQ), 1080p, 24p.
I already reset compressor, I am not doing any clusters or anything. Just a simple encode and burn on my MacBook Pro 17" running Snow Leopard. I am not the only one with this problem. A friend of mine with almost the same setup as me was having the exact same problem.
No Apple help document talks about this issue. Any suggestions? Other than reinstalling compressor, which I have not done yet.

Here is what I noticed:
The ProRes sequence that I had exported from Final Cut Pro 7 had a ton of compression markers when pulled into Compressor. I had not set these compression markers in FCP. The only thing I had added were Chapter Markers (purple) and they were showing up as well along with the mysterious other ones.
So I did a little experiment. I recompressed/transcoded the problem movie into another ProRes sequence right in Compressor. I then dragged this new sequence back into Compressor and all the Compresion Markers were gone. Only the Chapter Markers were showing up as they should. I was then able to burn a DVD from this sequence without any problems.
If anybody can make sense of this, I'd be more than interested.

I'm running into this same issue with Compressor 4.07 on a new MacBookPro with Retina and external Super Drive. How did you solve it?
It makes files for DVDs OK but when I add the Create DVD function, it hangs up close to the end. I let it run all night to see if it just needed time but nothing had changed over 8 hours later.
Did you do something to make it work for you or did it just need time?

Create DVD button not working

My "Create DVD" button is not clickable.was working fine for weeks. Had a "QMaster" problem but downloaded Digital Rebellion to fix it. Now, the QMaster issue is no longer BUT the Create DVD button cannot be clicked.Dragged the Compressor icon to the trash and reinstalled, same problem. Have rebooted and tried again, same problem.is killing

Compressor 4.1.3 and FCPX 10.1.3 -- Have not had any previous versions...have had them both installed for about a months.
Latest info: received help but problem not solved. I CAN make a DVD from inside FCPX using the export command. Tech suggested QMaster files corrupt and removed the two QMaster files and placed them on my desktop so software would not find them and would recreate them. Rebooted system. Still cannot click "create dvd" inside Compressor.
I work on an iMac with bootcamp installed...I have the machine in Mac mode running...

Capture-image hangs on "create wim"

i am capturing a new Windows 8-image.
I have created a seperate task-sequence for Windows 8-capture with the DVD of windows 8 as setup-files.
After rebooting to Winpe my deployment this is hanging op "create wim"

Hi, I am also getting stuck in the wim creation. I am using a virtual machine (VirtualBox) so I am able to take snapshots and so I have tried many times the same procedure. After the SysPrep, my virtual machine boots into the LiteTouch Installation and everything
seems fine, the Capturing Process is slowly moving and I can see in my Captures-folder on my MDT-server that the wim-image is steadily growing. But, after some time it stops, and it can be after 1% or 6% or 9%, it is random, and I can see every time the size
of the wim-file is different as well. Sometimes bigger, sometimes smaller, but I haven't been able to go beyond 9% of the capturing process, neither over 1 GB of the captured wim file. And please note that the machine completely freezes/hangs, mouse cursor
not moving, it just sits there for unlimited time, no change in the size of the wim-file either on the MDT-server (in the Captures folder). Anyone has any ideas?
I am using Windows Server 2012 R2 (x64), MDT2013, ADK and the OS I am trying to capture is Win7Prox86.
The Task Sequence is standard SysPrep and Capture, although I have disabled the Inject drivers for WinXP and WinServer2003.
Would be great to know the answer to this problem, so if anyone knows or have any suggestions, please let us know!

Compressor 4.1 won't burn DVDs

When I try to burn a DVD in Compressor 4.1 I get a little triangle with exclamation point that says "Cannot create dvd because the specified device could not be found."
Anyone have this issue or know how to fix it?
I'm on a early 2011 MacBook Pro 15" with a working SuperDrive.

It's similar to the way in FCP. Select Hard Drive as Output Device.

Apple has removed the ability to create chapters in iMovie 10
I use iMovie 06 to do this. It works perfectly with Mavericks, as does iDVD. You can purchase iMovie on disk as part of iLife 06, readily available on Amazon and eBay.
It's quite shocking that another feature has been removed from the once mighty iMovie.

I consider myself an expert at troubleshooting (being in support for over 10 years including time as a Lead Technician doing Windows 2000 support focussing on performance), and have checked quite a few things to try to pinpoint this issue, but I just can't find the cause.
I am asking others if they have seen this issue. I need to know if it is only on my workstation, or if others are seeing it as well.
Have you ever right-clicked, chose new folder and then had to wait 45 seconds for a new folder to appear.
Then the same thing when you try to rename the new folder, a hang of about 45 seconds before the new name take affect.
Anyway, let me know if you have experienced ths.

Hi,
I suggest you temporarily uninstall the antivirus program to check the issue. You need to make sure that you have the installation file to reinstall it later.
If it does not work, I suggest you also test the issue in Safe Mode and Clean Boot to determine if this is a hardware or a software issue.

As far as I know, motion templates can only be used with DVD Studio Pro. FCP X only lets you add a background image to the DVD menu.

Aspect ratio issue when watching 16'9 idvd created DVDs on regular players

I am having problems with the aspect ratio of any DVDs that I burn in iDVD as 16'9 - The original video is 16'9 and edited as such in FCP, then exported with current settings selected and then in iDVD I select a widescreen project - preview of the project is fine and when the DVD is done it plays with the correct aspect ratio if I watch on the computer's internal DVD player - but my issue is when I watch on any regular DVD player (on a widescreen tv of course) all the video looks tall and skinny, including the menu. The only way I found to get the video to look like it's natural proportion is to switch the settings to 4'3 on the DVD player, then it creates almost a "super-widescreen" look where there are bars at the top and bottom of the screen. On the otherhand, when i used to shoot in 4'3 and create DVDs as 4'3 projects, I NEVER had this problem when watching on a regular DVD player on widescreen TV! It would take up the whole screen and look normal (I know it must stretch it to fit, but it wasn't noticable). I thought creating a 16'9 video I should be able to watch on a widescreen TV and it should take up the whole screen and look normal. Please help!

Problem with premiere elements 3.0 (titles when creating DVD)

I am using version 3.0 and when you go to create DVD there should be the option to insert titles or menu page at the start of your DVD, well that has disappeared from my programme. We had problems with the pc so had to reinstall alot of the programmes on it but the titles never came back when we re-installed the programme. I have tried everything i can think of but there are still no titles or menus available. Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Frame hangs when creating PDF

I'm running Frame 8, unstructured, on Vista. Also running Distiller 8.
I have a book file and was creating individual PDFs of the chapters doing Save As PDF on each chapter. After three weeks of doing this Frame starts to hang when creating the PDFs. Nothing different in the files, just some editing of commas, mispellings etc. Sometimes just repaginating for page numbers. I noticed, strangely, that I first had to delete the old PDF, it wasn't overwritinng. Then that started hanging so I was changing the name of the file. Then changing the name wasn't working.
Frame was opening Distiller but it wasn't doing anything else. At some point it doesn't even open Distiller. Just hangs Frame. Doesn't matter if I reboot, it has no affect.
Then, doing absolutely nothing, it starts working again ... for a while. There's nothing intricate about these files. They're pretty vanilla. Lots of text, a handful of tables (or not) and some graphics in eps or tif format.
What is going on here?

From everything I have read, it is better to Print to a PDF than to use Save As....and also set your default printer to pdf. Although some I have read use the Save As PDF, most don't agree. You can give it a shot anyway....

I agree with the user above. The recovery disk that you create, contains the same language as preinstalled OS.
For example if an English version is preinstalled, the recovery disk contains only English language.
If you want another language you have to buy a new version of Windows 7.
Last but not least on Windows 7 Ultimate you can use different language packs:

Hello! As far as I can tell, iDVD 6 has no feature for creating dvd case covers/inserts.
I'd appreciate recommendations for inexpensive or free software for making such covers.

You're welcome, David. I'm not familiar with all the Sharpie product line, but the common one that marks anywhere uses a fairly harsh solvent, and in theory could eat through to the reflective coating of the DVD. I found a Memorex product at Fry's Electronics named, "CD Marker." It is labeled non-toxic, water-based.
Personally, I've not had any problems with the sticky labels (I've used Memorex and CD Stomper labels for a few years) but there are some strong feelings opposed to their use (and I can imagine a problem could come up in 10-15 years). You can do a search in these forums; an alternative is printing directly onto the DVD if you have the right printer and disks.

Is there any way at all to remove video from an already created DVD into Final Cut?

Use MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5 (free software) to convert the media to something like ProRes 422, then import into FCP X.
But you need to download a Quicktime component (easy to do though).
