Compressor 4.1 crashes on "Add Outputs"

Hello,
My compressor has been auto-updated to 4.1. It will not allow me to "add outputs" to ANY file type.
It crashes with a Kernel Panic.
I have removed /LIBRARY/compressor/ and restarted. Still does not work.
Help please!?

as  Russ points out , you may want to be specific about what files you removed! (there's no /Library/compressor I think) ,
An alternate investigation to fix method you might try is to see if this issue is related to the UI only and not the code underneath. Its possible that the settings have been modified.
From your post may we assume that this ADD OUTPUT UI mechanism fails?
If so.... some Q's.
Are you able to MANUALLY add outputs using a simple DRAG and DROP from the Settings sidebar (example below)
does this issue occur when you add MULTIPLE distributions to the same job (add more than one SETTING to develop two or more transcodes)?
Whan you add an object for trancoding, Do you see the "select one or more settings" dialogue box?
Regarding the "crash" can you see what THREAD failed in the crash? It's likely a corruped element. It can be fixed.
Post your results for others to see.

  • HT4590 Compressor 4.1 Crashing

Hey there!  Love the new Compressor 4.1.  It's so simplified!  All you do is import your FCPX file, choose an output or two, hit submit, and voila! It freezes and crashes!
"That's weird," you might be thinking.  "Must have been a fluke," you tell yourself.  "After all, there's no way Apple would take a perfectly fine, working program and replace it with some piece of crap so buggy it can't even export a single file."  So you reopen it.  Ah!  Your FCPX project is still there.  That's nice, all you have to do is rechoose those outputs.  So you click on the "add outputs" button and WHAT THE **** IT JUST CRASHED AGAIN.  DIDN'T EVEN FREEZE TO THINK ABOUT IT, JUST POOF IT'S GONE.
Ok, your flash of fury has passed.  You calm down.  You take a deep breath, pondering your options.  I mean, it must be something wrong on your end, right?  Compressor 4.1 not only works, it's way better than 4.0.7, that's why they released it!  So, you restart your computer, and open compressor.  Look at that!  Your FCP project is still there.  "But wait!" you say.  "That would be too easy!"  So you deftly click on the project to delete it, so that you can reopen FCP and reimport a fresh version.  Just waiting for the spinning ball to register your click.  Silly Compressor, it's probably trying to load that old project.  Doesn't it know I'm just gonna delete OH MY GOD WHERE'D COMPRESSOR GO.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME, IT CRASHED AGAIN.  I HADN'T EVEN TRIED TO START A BATCH.  I LITERALLY JUST CLICKED THE FILE TO DELETE IT AND IT CRASHED.  WHAT THE **** IS THIS CRAP.
Ok, ok, ok.  You're better than this.  Don't let this thing beat you.  You've got it.  Instead of clicking the project, you'll RIGHT click it, and "cut" the project.  It works!!  It's all clear.  You, good sir, are a genius.  You reopen FCPX, resend to compressor, and rechoose your outputs.  Only, this time, you choose just one output, and a preset one at that.  You click ok and the "Start Batch" button lights up!  It's working!!  You click start batch and hear your external drive start to spool!  The ball starts to spin, but worry not!  That's just because it's trying to add it to the "active" menu.  Although, it is taking quite a while... A very long while... No... This can't be hapenning... No. no, no no no nononononono nonn nono no no nonn on non nono!!!! IT FROZE AGAIN.  IT EFFING FROZE AGAIN. IT IS LITERALLY INCAPABLE OF DOING AAAAAANNNNNNYYYYYYTTTTTHHHHHIIIIIIINNNNNNGGGGGG.  Sick update guys!
You know what would be cool?  Some kind of explanation as to why this crap replaced my perfectly fine 4.0.7 version.  You know what would be even better?  To be able to export my film.

I spoke with tech support a few hours ago. Most of the issues they are seeing with Compressor crashing seem to be related to Matrox. The solution seems to be to work without the Matrox settings in Compressor. I took the Compressor folder out of Library/Application Support (using Finder Option/Go to see the Library folder) and put the Compressor folder onto my Desktop.
Compressor started working again. I then went back into the Compressor folder I moved to the Desktop and dragged some non Matrox settings back into Compressor and dropped them into Custom settings.
There still seems to be an issue with creating new custom settings. Again, these issues seem only to occur with users who have Matrox. My workaround is to duplicate an existing setting and then modifying it.
Your Matrox is a brick until Matrox catches up to Mavericks and FCP and Compressor. I was getting real time compression using my Matrox Mini. I am now getting three times that speed just using Compressor on my (fairly recent) laptop and the fan stays off so the laptop processor doesn't seem to be working that hard. 64 bit apps make a difference. 20 minutes to compress nearly an hour of tape to 1080p at 10 kbps. I would never have bought the Matrox if I had that speed before.

  • How to add output text programmatically??

    Hi Team,
    Jdev Version - 11.1.1.6.0
    I have a requirement like-
I want to add output text on click of button mean programmatically. Everytime i click on button output text get add above previous output Text.
Just like in blogs user share their comments and once click on share it gets add in list above previous comment.
I have pop up and once i fill fields in popup and click on OK button of pop up, comment will add in list.
Could you please help me how i can add output text on click of button one above one.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ramit Mathur

    1) Use a Collection to hold the comments. It could be in-memory (List<String>) or backed by DB (using a ViewObject) depending on your use-case. On every comment submission add the comment to the collection object.
    2) In the page, iterate through the collection using af:iterator and include the output text within the iterator.

  • BAPI Or FM to add output type to VF02

    Hi,
Is there is any Function Module or BAPI to add output type to VF02?
    Thanks,
    Suresh.

There is no FM, to my knowledge. You can call the program that runs transaction VF31. Naturally, the output must be correctly configured first.
I would check as to why do you need to add output in the first place - if it's configured correctly, it should be added automatically. Good luck!

  • 'Add Output Header' option of File Write Adapter

    Hi All,
Could you please tell what is this option used for :
    'Add Output Header'
In a File Write Adapter, and how can I test it?
    Thanks.

To have fixed header every time before it writes the data, i think you should have file with header and data, then use it to configure file write in JCA adapter.
This will create a schema with static header and dynamic results to the schema file.
So that everytime you will have the header then it write the data below that.
Note: I have done this some years back, i wrote here with from my memory.
Let me know if you still have problem, wll try to create a simple example and share.
    Thanks,
    Vijay

  • Compressor 4.1 Crashes When Changing Location

Every time I click on a job to change the Location from Source to a specific folder, Compressor 4.1 crashes.  I've trashed preferences using Preference Manager but to no avail.  Suggestions?

First try repair permissions in DIsk Utility. I'm skeptical that it's a permission problem, but no harm in trying the least disruptive fix first.
If that doesn't work, and with Compressor closed, in the Finder>Go, hold down the option key to select the Home library. In that Home library>Applications Support, locate the Compressor folder and drag to the trash.
    Restart Compressor.
    Good luck.

  • Compressor 2.1 crashing

Compressor 2.1 started crashing on launch for me. It crashes standalone and export form FCP 5.1.1.
I didn't update anything and the other Pro apps work as expected.
I've already tried these two Apple tips:
Removing the /Library/Receipts/ProRuntime.pkg receipt and /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ProKit.framework file and then download and install Pro Application Support 3.1 for Tiger.
And go to /Library/Receipts and, if found, drag the following files to the Trash:
    • Compressor.pkg
    • Qmaster_Applications.pkg
    • Qmaster_Frameworks.pkg
    • Qmaster_Plugins.pkg
    • Qmaster_Services.pkg
Then, go to /Applications and, if found, drag the following files to the Trash:
    • Compressor
    • Apple QMaster
    • Apple Qadministrator
From your install disc, reinstall Compressor and Apple Qmaster (in custom install window, make sure that Compressor and Apple Qmaster items are checked). Once you have reinstalled the Compressor and QMaster applications and services, install all updates using Software Update and restart your computer.
    Then I repaired permissions
    Didn't work.
Compressor 2.1 still crashes on launch.
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks,
    Richard
    class=otherinfo>G5 DUAL 2 GIG   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   2.5 GHZ RAM

I've finally got Compressor to stop crashing on launch.
I booted into Safe mode, and Compressor worked fine.
Then I eliminated the start-up items Qmaster and Iloc from the user Startup Items folder.
I also disabled the Login item Default folder.
    Rebooted and Compressor worked fine.
I added back QMaster and Compressor was OK.
    Added back iLoc Compressor OK
I downloaded the latest version of Default Folder and first uninstalled it, and then reinstalled the most current version.
    Rebooted and Compressor didn't crash.
    Rebooted again and no crash.
Maybe an out of date Default Folder was causing the crash.
Other than that, I believe everthing was the same.

  • Anyone done a comparison between compressor & Squeeze 5 for h.264 output?

Anyone done a comparison between compressor & Squeeze 5 for h.264 output?

I'm not that concerned about speed, primarily interested in quality.
Intended delivery would be over the web, but also on an HDTV flat screen in a waiting room at best resolution (would H.264 be the best choice for that use?).
Source would be 1920 x 1080 24p ProRes 422 (recorded directly from HDMI using a humble Canon HV20 and an Intensity card).
As to the size, that's becoming less of an issue with bandwidth such as it is. 20-30% larger wouldn't make a difference to me.

  • Crash during add new contact (Thai language) iOS 8 i5

    Spec : iPhone 5 iOS8.0.2
Crash during add new contact with Thai language in field 'first and last name".
This is a bug in iOS 8, right?

    Hello,
This is how we fixed this issue, which I believe it's a SW bug by the way.
Go to Settings/General/Language&Region and delete all the languages you can find there (keep English only).
After this you will able to add a new contact with Thai characters.
This worked for us on multiple phones.
    Cheers!

  • Compressor 3.01 crashes upon export

    Hello,
I've recently completed my feature film and I've tried to export from FCP to compressor and it crashes at launch (3x's) Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening? I didn't search the forums for the answer so please forgive me, but I am frustrated. I have to force quit FCP in order to stop the beach ball. I am concerned my files may be lost if this continues. Please help. Thanks
    TAZZ1

No answer I'm afraid, but I do have the same problem.
If I come up with anything I'll let you know.
edit - in fact compressor wont open full stop. not sure if this is since 3.01 or since 3.0 as I don't think I've used it since upgrading. how about you?
edit again - I'm currently going through these options. May be worth a try before trying anything too drastic.

  • Netflix, Safari, Silverlight crashing on "Add to Your List"

    I use Safari 6.0.3 on OS X 10.8.2 on a mid-2009 MBP.
When adding movies + tvseries to Netflix's List (using the "Add to Your List"-button), I have experienced 3 kernel panics.
Anyone have any suggestions as to what to do? Most of the time the reaction to clicking "Add to Your List" is really sluggish, might take 5 seconds to add it to my list - for those Silverlight animations to even run (the turning of the video-cover left&right, and minor animations). I've never had a kernel crash while watching Netflix, however. Just when adding to my list.
Here's the log of the most recent one.

  • BUG : Compressor 3.5 crashing when adding files?

Fcs 2 worked just fine under tiger.
Now with leo, fcs3 and compressor 3.5 it is impossible to convert (1080p prores/hq) a bigger batch of materiel without compressor crashing.
You can try to add about 45 files (e5markII) but anything over that, the compressor crashes.
Previous version was fine and dandy.
Is this a know bug..sorry... Feature of the 3.5 or what?
    Any workarounds?

I would like to know the answer to this as well.
Having same issue w/ 5DMKII files.
First on a Macbook Pro running FC7 and now on my 8-core power mac.
Trying to throw in about 100 clips into compressor for changing to ProRes, crashes program.
20 or 30 clips works fine...

  • Compressor makes droplet when I am outputting M2v

filecomes up on desktop as a droplet when it should come up as a quicktime file. Same thing happens with output from BitVice!! Help - whats up I have dumped and reinstalled quicktime and its the same!

hi, just saw this whilst trawling this forum looking for something specific.. yes I agree. I think the time consumed is due to the process trying to biuld proxy images. I cant confirm. I also disabled PERIAN and found that adding a bunch of objects took less time.
I could not diagnose the reason.
uninstalling Perian qt codecs via the system preferences is a quick wrkaround this issue of compressor taking ages to add files t a batch.

  • Crystal crashes when add new parameters to a stored proc in a subreport

This one has been driving me nuts so any help much appreciated...
I have a stored procedure (Oracle 9i) that is used as the datasource for a subreport (needs to be in the subreport as I need to pass multi-value parameters to the proc - something I've done in numerous other procs/reports).  All of the parameters from the proc are linked to data/parameters on the main report.
The report works fine at the moment.
I need to add three new parameters to the proc with an If statement on each one to run various bits of code depending on what is passed in.  This is where the trouble starts.
    The proc works.
If I create a main report based on the new proc, it works.
If I create a subreport based on the proc and DON'T link it to the main report, it works.
If I create a subreport based on the proc and DO link it to the main report, Crystal crashes with no explanation (just that painful error that apologies for the inconvenience).  It is not all the parameters that cause this problem - it's not even restricted to just the new parameters or even just to ones that are used in the IF statements.
This is not the first proc to do this to me - just the first one where the new functionality was too critical to strip out for now.
I have been trawling the net and trying all sorts of things for days so I am hoping someone out there has a suggestion!
Versions: Oracle 9i, Crystal Reports 11.0.0.1994

    Hi Daniel,
Starting from the basics, after you've inserted the subreport don't link it yet.  Edit the subreport and verify the database.  Once it's verified, try linking the reports and adding a parameter.
Verify the linking you are using.  I've seen where the field from the main report was passing invalid or coruupted data and caused the subreport to die a horrifying death.
    Good luck,
    Brian
