Compressor Apppears to be running bt can't see a User Interface?

I have just reinstalled FCS2 after a clean install of 10.5 and migrating my apps over. As usual FCS doesn't take to be 'moved' over to well, so did a complete install of FCS2.
Now all my FCS2 apps work OK, but when I open compressor I can see it starting up and it appears to be running in my activity monitor. On the top menu bar I see compressor and can do things such as "about compressor" which works OK but everything seems to be greyed out except New Batch, Open and recent open.
But there is no Interface that I can see?
I really don't want to spend another 2+ hours re-installing everything again!!!
Has anyone got any ideas?

Got the same issue. Only FCP seems to be ok, but Compressor, Motion and DVD studio all have interface problems. The top bar only shows the apple icon, the rest remains blank. I tried to replace the framworks an reistalled FCS2 again, but no difference. this all happenend when I upgraded Tiger to Leopard.

Couple of things - you can open the interface for any instrument or plug-in by double-clicking its insert slot on the channel strip. You can configure Logic to automatically open the interface for a plug-in when you first instantiate it in the preferences. Go to Logic Pro > Preferences > Display > Mixer, and check the box for "Open plug-in window on insertion".

I am new to a company. Where can i see which employees have access to Discoverer Admin and / or Desktop editions?
So i want to know 2 things:
1. Who are the discoverer users in the company?
2. What reports do they have access to?

Hi,
If the user has Discoverer Administrator/User installed on there PC then they will have access to the tools. They will also need Admin or Desktop access to the Discoverer EUL. You can install the Discoverer V5 Business Area and run the EUL Management workbook to see all the Discoverer users, what privileges they have and which workbooks have been shared to the users/roles. See metalink note 556932.1 for details of how to install this Business area which is shipped with Discoverer Admin.

How can I give the "user interface thread" higher priority?

We do alot of activex calls to front panels. We need to increase/decrease the priority of the user interface thread to resolve our thread problem. Anyone know how to do this?

through the VI Properties dialogue.
Another place to modify the multithreading system in LabVIEW is a VI
located at: [LabVIEW Directory]\vi.lib\Utility\sysinfo.llb\threadconfig.vi. However I do not think this will remedy any
problems you are having.

Priorities in the User Interface and
Single-Threaded Applications
Within the User Interface execution
system, priority levels are handled in the same way for single-threaded and
multithreaded applications.
In single-threaded applications and
in the User Interface execution system of multithreaded applications, the
execution system queue has multiple entry points. The execution system places
higher priority VIs on the queue in front of lower priority VIs.
If a high-priority task is running and the queue contains only lower priority
tasks, the high-priority VI continues to run. For example, if the execution
queue contains two VIs of each priority level, the time-critical VIs share execution time exclusively until both finish.
Then, the high priority VIs share execution
time exclusively until both finish, and so on. However, if the higher priority
VIs call a function that waits, the execution system removes higher priority
VIs from the queue until the wait or I/O completes, assigning other tasks
(possibly with lower priority) to run. When the wait or I/O completes, the
execution system reinserts the pending task on the queue in front of lower
priority tasks. Refer to the Synchronous/Blocking Nodes section for a list of
asynchronous functions that wait.
Also, if a high priority VI calls a lower priority subVI,
that subVI is raised to the same priority level as the caller for the duration
of that call. Consequently, you do not need to modify the priority levels of
the subVIs that a VI calls to raise the priority level of the subVI.
Thus changing the priority of your VI will change the
priority of UI calls for that particular VI.
Again, I caution you because I suspect that if you are having problems
with your application not running correctly, I do not believe that manipulating
the thread priorities will resolve these issues.

I can't see the user-defined fields I'm supposed to - where are they?

Following a recent CACI release upgrade users are expecting to see several user-defined fields within student details in the Enrolments Universe but we can't. Following upgrades, do I need to refresh or run something that'll encorporate any new additions to the existing tables?

Enable trace in the System Configuration object.
From Debug page > List Objects> Configuration> System Configuration. Click Edit.
Look for Workflow Trace and enable it. Write it to a file if it is your local server. If it is a remote server then set the value of console trace to true.
This will genetrate the output onto the browser.

Firefox closes when I shut down, but when it is running, I can't see it on the monitor or find it in the Task Manager.

When I open Firefox, nothing seems to happen. It doesn't appear on the monitor and the Task Manager doesn't list it as running. But when I shut down the computer, Firefox must be closed before shut down can be completed.

The "System Tray" is located at the very bottom right of your screen and is a list of most/all running applications that will show in this list.
For your SysFader issue, this "may" be the problem:
1 Find the "My Computer" desktop icon and right-click it. A pull-down menu will appear. Select "Properties."
2 Click on the "Advanced" tab. This will load a new page of options.
3 Select the "Visual Effects" tab at the top of the window and deselect "Animate Windows when minimizing and maximizing," "Fade or slide menus into view," "Fade or slide Tool Tips into view" and "Fade out Menu items after checking."
4 Click "OK." This will remove most if not all of the Sysfader effects, at the same time correcting related errors that used to come up during opening a new file or program.

Can't see TimeMachine restore interface

Hi, I'm a pretty new iMac user, running OS X Lion, and try to backup to a Stora NAS with Time Machine. Have (as so many others) struggled to get it to work, now it seems OK, I have a full backup, and two incrementals have run OK.
But the restore GUI! I did have it up and working some time during all my backup tries. But now I can't get it to display. I press the "Go into Time Machine" from the TM symbol on the menu bar. I get the connect to disk progess bar, and it seems to succeed, because I see an icon on my desktop "TimeMachine backups" and in Finder I get the Time Machine entry under Devices.
But how do I get nice GUI to be able to browse back in time and restore? When I saw it before, I can't even remember what I did to get there, it just appeared... But not now...
I've googled, and not found much on this, I have even tried rebooting ;-)
Any help?

Yes, been there, done that... The only part I find there is:

OK, but I never get the "first display" mentioned. That's why I ask... I never get to the restore GUI. I perfectly know what it looks like, I did get it previously, and I can see it in the help pages, but I just can't get it to show on my iMac.
That's why I ask here! Does anyone recognize this strange situation?

When i start firefox double clicking the short cut icon, it runs in the processes but the user interface window does not comes up in the screen,please help.

in my laptop,i generally use windows xp, due to some problems i repaired the window, after some days without any notice the above problem starts. but internet explorer 8 shows up with a perfect window, but a bit slow in every respect compared to firefox. above all if i start the window in safe mode firefox runs perfectly.please help, i ve tried every possible way(installing different anti-viruses, acessing through set program and defaults).

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

Can we customize the user interface in teststand?

I am a new learner of teststand and we want develop a test software for customers. The customer hope that they can design the test order and select the test project when they begin a new test. So can teststand do like this??

TestStand comes with the ability to change the Operator Interface. It is very customizable. There are sample Operator Interfaces for several programming languages included with the package. If you are a LabVIEW programmer or a C programmer, you should be able to start with their sample and build one to your customer's specs.

I can't see system users in Workgroup Manager

How do I get the user accounts that are already on Mac OS X Server to show up as users in Workgroup Manager? Re-adding the user from "Add User" creates a conflict, so I know the account is being seen by Workgroup Manager. Thanks for the help.

Yes. Firstly de-select the option to show System Users and Groups. Use the Filter to only show you Users with UIDs above a certain number. If you've used the default numbering system start with IDs over 1000. This gets around you inadvertently exporting and/or deleting the default Administrator account.
Select the users you're interested in the Local node. Go the Server Menu and select Export. Save the exported file to the Desktop and give it a meaningful name. Now delete those exported users from the local node. You can't have the same users in both directory nodes. Select the LDAP node and select Import from the Server Menu. The rest should be fairly obvious.
A couple of things to look out for. When importing those Users they should automatically be assigned Open Directory for their User Password Types in the Advanced Tab. Change them to suit if they come in as Crypt. Passwords don't carry over so you will have to either assign these again or force users to change them at next log on. Assuming these are users with networked home profiles?

Can I modify the user interface?

It's confusing to upgrade from LE7 to LE8, and I'm regretting it more every time I use it. I'm sure people that have a larger screen and/or are used to GarageBand don't suffer the same problems. I've learned to use multiple windows when working with regions and the mixer, switching between them with command+< and having room enough to work on each of them.
I want to use this like I used LE7. I know how to open a region in a new window (option-doubleclick), but copy-pasting doesn't work there. Then, whenever I just doubleclick a region, it opens the tab, and closes my region window. Haven't checked whether the mixer window has the same problem because I can't focus for long enough to actually need the mixer.
A single window centralized workspace is probably totally awesome if you have a big screen and never touch any buttons but the mouse button and command, but I don't work that way.
Does LE8 have any window settings where I can shut off the tabs and make LE8 behave less like a hippopotamus with its head stuck up its... ahem Question: Can I turn off the tabs and make LE8 behave more like LE7?
