Compressor creates long delay on surround speakers dolby 5.1

I just created an ac3 file, dolby 5.1 with compressor. All the audio files are in perfect sync, however the resulting ac3 has given the surround speakers a significant delay, around 2 seconds or so.
This is a delay I do not want.
Even when previewing it through headphones in dvdsp, I can hear it (so its not from the home theater adding any sort of delay) and when it plays on the dvd player through a surround sound home theater its quite noticable.
I dont see any options in compressor settings to alter this and I know apack didnt add this delay.
Anyone know what to attribute this to or how to solve it (other than monkeying around shifting the audio endlessly until it sounds right)?

after seeing that the sound from the rear speakers also dropped out at some point, I started over and recompressed.
The new ac3 has no delay. Guess it was just an processing error of some sort. Lotta bugs in my apps these days.

These are elementary streams and they would be used by DVD authoring apps that use them for reasons like foreign language capability. Examples would be DVD Studio Pro, Adobe Encore, Toast.
The most straightforward way to burn your DVD is either to use the Share feature in FCP or the Batch Template feature in Compressor.
If you can find a boxed copy of iLife (try Amazon), it should have iDVD as part of the suite of apps. iDVD offers far more complete authoring capability than FCP or C4. iDVD doesn't work with elementary streams; you'd just drag in your HD movie and you'd be good to go.

My iPhone no longer works with external speakers

Since upgrading to the 3.0 software, my iPhone (the original 2G model) no longer works with the speakers I have, or with my DVD/surround system. Previously it worked fine! Has anyone else experienced this. I'm so disappointed, as I use the speakers/surround system a lot to listen to music.

OK, I just clicked restore to backup in itunes and after restoring the iphone, it seems to be connecting and working through the speakers now. Whew!

I need creat three tasks.
Fisrt create a finte pulse train for this i use a counter.
Second create a delay for this i use again a conter to creat a pulse train in witch the delay is equal to frequency x number of pulses.
Third measure pulses for this i use again a counter but in this case is a counter input.
In attachment i send a picture with my program.
I dont understand why my program dont work? my program take a lote of time during the excution. I think the problem is between stop une task and start another i would like know how i can resolve the problem if is possible.

Can opening shot be a long, delayed, fade of a still photo from blur to clear?

I'd like to have the first clip of an iMovie be a long, delayed fade of a still photo from blur to clear. Using the blur transition is not working; it can't be made long enough. Any ideas?
I'd like it so that the fade from blur lasts around 18 seconds, and the photo is clear for about 4 seconds...
I should also say I'm using the latest version of iMovie... just bought the computer a few months ago.

Further to Karsten's explanation, a workaround is to create a project using your photo with a duration of 36 seconds (or more). Insert the 18 second transition. Then export the project and re-import the exported file to an Event. Now create a new project from that Event. In that new project, trim off the unrequired section from the end of the clip, so that all that remains is the transition plus the extra 4 seconds.
For best results, when exporting the 36 second clip (or whatever length), choose Share>Export using QuickTime. For the Export setting (on the pop-up menu) choose Movie to QuickTime Movie. For "Options>Video>Settings>Compression Type" choose Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC). Leave other settings as they are. This will give you a full quality movie file (.mov) in the AIC format, which is iMovie's preferred editing format.

CP 7 Bug? Long delay between preloader and first slide

I am using OSX Mavericks 10.9.2 and recenly created my first project since upgrading to CP 7. My project is 15 slides and contains only audio (mp3) and image files. My preloader is set to 25%. When I upload the published project to my web server and test, there is a fairly long delay after the preloader loads and before the course begins. It last several seconds and appears as if all the elements on the first slide are missing (the only thing that shows is the playbar - I have only the CC button turned on):
Is this a bug with CP 7? I have never experienced anything like this in CP 5.5 and 6.

Long delay on KDE login caused by Pulseaudio

Hi all,
I am experiencing an annoying delay after logging into KDE. This happened very recently, where I moved to pure systemd and upgraded kde (I am not sure what the exact cause is). It looks like https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1157890, but instead of not starting, I get a long delay.
Example:
timestamp 0 - login
timestamp 8 - desktop is loaded partially and startup freezes
timestamp 33 - loading the desktop continues
This is very reproducable, I logout and login again - the issue repeats with the same times. I have isolated the problem to /usr/bin/start-pulseaudio-x11, line:
/usr/bin/pactl load-module module-x11-xsmp "display=$DISPLAY session_manager=$SESSION_MANAGER" > /dev/null
Stracing it shows that it freezes after sending the load-module command to pulseaudio over the native socket in /tmp/pulse-XXX/native and waiting for a response. This takes about 25 seconds, the same as in the example above.
The above timestamp tests have been performed by adding the next to ~/.bash_profile:

Edit: the problem occured since I patched kdm to set XAUTHORITY (not sure if that is related), after replacing with the original kdm binary, the issue seems to be gone is still existent.

Well yes, that just avoids the issue by preventing start-pulseaudio-x11 from starting. I'll try that workaround until a real solution shows up. Thanks for your reply.

Mac mini not reading surround speakers

Just today, went to turn on iTunes to play music, and I am no longer getting any sound from the surround speakers that are linked via the red/white cable. I am using the iPod stereo cable connectors on the mini. It's worked for a few years, and now nothing. I go to the speaker preferences and all it shows is the internatl speakers. The funny thing is that when I connect the cable to my macbook, it plays just fine. Any ideas?

I myself can't even get it to work on a 2.1 speakers. Plug it into the Audio Line In, no sound came out. Had to resort to plug into Audio Line Out, it did came out sound but one speaker only. Terribly annoying.

Long delay after F10 "full motion" stop

I am new to Captivate and am recording a movie in Word where
I need user to see continuous movement of mouse cursor as I point
to different things in the Word document. I am also using
continuous audio while recording to movie. The problem is that when
I hit the F10 key to stop the full motion animation I get a delay
of about 20 seconds before the movie ends, even though I quickly
hit the End key after hitting the F10 key. The full motion movie
created is about 9MB and about 4 minutes long but with a long delay
of at least 20 seconds with no action at the end of the movie. It's
almost like my hardware is working to stop the animation and end
the movie but it is taking 20 seconds to stop the full motion
recording and ending the movie. Has anyone else experienced this
problem? I am using a laptop with a Celeron M 1.5 GHZ computer. Is
my hardware the problem?
Adobe technical support has had me reload the Captivate
program several times with no luck.
Any suggestions?

As I indicated in my earlier post, full motion in Captivate
is brief. For example, say you are recording WordPad (this example
is taken from the official Captivate training curriculum).
You record dragging across a sentence to select it. This is
just a few seconds long and ends up as full motion. You then click
the color pallete to change the color. This results in a static
slide. You choose the color. Another static slide. You step off to
show the color change. Another static slide. Now you scroll the
document to view the text at the bottom. Another full motion slide
as you drag the thumb of the scroll bar. Then you select multiple
lines. Another full motion slide as you select the lines. Then you
click the icon to apply bullets. Static slide. Then step off the
selected text to reveal the bulleted text with no highlight. A
final static slide.
With Captivate, it is the combination of static and full
motion slides that provides the illusion of fluid movement.

Long delay getting new mail

I am experiencing a long delay in Mail getting new mail. Here's what happens:
1. on launching Mail, it gets new mail immediately, so I know my account settings are good.
2. once Mail is running, there is a long delay in updating new incoming mail -- can be hours. I have Mail set to check every five minutes. Also, I can manually click on Get Mail and I get a No New Mail beep even when there is new mail (see next point).
3. If I use webmail to access my account, I can see new mail sitting in my In Box.
4. if I quit and relaunch Mail, the new mail shows up.
I have an IMAP account which has worked well for years. This delayed behaviour started a few months ago when I was running Leopard. I posted a question but never got an answer that worked. Now I have just upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.4, and hoped Mail would correct itself with the upgrade. It didn't.
I was once advised that it might have something to do with the Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > "Use IDLE command if the server supports it" setting. However, this preference is ticked and greyed out so I can't change it. (The advice was to turn it on or off and see if that was a fix).
I am running on an iMac 24" Core 2 duo (early 2008 model). After the Snow Leopard upgrade I repaired permissions and ran all the chron scripts. So my system should be pretty good.
I would be grateful for any help. I have clients call and say "I just sent you an email..." and I appear dumb because I have to go to webmail to get it right away.

It's getting better. I used Other to setup my mail acc via MfE, by tricking it to a non uniform mail. That worked, I changed it back to googlemail and guess what?! Next time I boot the phone, the MfE is gone. but it still registers in the background so I can't create a new one. Configuration Tool 6.3 does see it but cannot overwrite it. PixiEnables package and its font nonsens severly screw with PopUpClock, Screensaver and SleepingScreen memory boundaries so those three crash. Thanks for nothing MS apps -.-

Long delay when trying to save print as PDF

For some reason, there is a long delay, usually up to five minutes, before the system will allow me to save a print as a PDF. I ran disk utility and no issues arose. Anyone know why this is happening?

Make sure there is enough free space on the startup disk.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.

Creating a delay on an advanced action

Other than using the timeline, does anyone know of a way to create a delay
in an advanced action?
What i'm trying to do is when the user clicks a button, have an object appear, then have it move to the next slide. If i place both actions in an advanced action, the user never sees the object because it appears and moves to the next slide at the same time.
I do not want to use the timeline for this, because it is relative to when the user pushes a button, and everyone reads and reacts at a different pace. Thanks so much if anyone has any creative ideas!

Perhaps use 'micro-navigation'? It means using the timeline to put the object later than the pausing of the click box, and use the advanced action to navigate to the frame where the object appears, and add the statement Continue (so that the playhead moves on). Be sure to set the exit action of the slide to Continue instead of the default No action. Now the user will see the object for the duration of its particular timeline and the playhead will move smoothly to the next slide after that duration is finished.

No sound from HP G62 laptop and can no longer get sound from speakers or headphone jack . USB sworks

have an HP G62 laptop. I can no longer receive sound from speakers or from headphone jack. If I plug speakers into usb - I will get sound. Any ideas?

I don't think I have anything to offer that you haven't done. In Device Manager, Device status says "working properly" and you've reinstalled this driver.
