Compressor fails when applescript is executed upon output
I've tried attaching an Applescript to compressor that triggers an automator function to FTP my finished video to a server. I've done this in the action inspector for a preset I've made.
Every time I run a batch with that preset, it fails. When I change the preset to remove the applescript it works...but of course the applescript isn't executed.
The applescript/automator sequence works just fine when I run the applescript. But I want the compressor to trigger it so I don't have to wait around for an hour while it finishes the batch.
Any thoughts on how to solve?
Dual Core Quad G5 Mac OS X (10.4.7)
No file. Compressor sends the file to the request to the batch monitor. Batch monitor opens and immediately the request is moved to the finished area (bottom half of the batch monitor screen)and the status column says "failed".

SIS package works in development environment but fails when job scheduler executes, file path invalid
Relatively simple package to get OLE-DB connection to MS FoxPro 9.0 DB
The failure in the job log states that the path is invalid its a network path (\\192.168.1.xxx\foldername) this has been run several ways with the remote computer being mapped as a network drive and through the \\ notation described above.
Thinking it was a security issue between the SQL agent account and my account I tested by subsitution myself as a proxy account for the agent when running this job, again same result failed on network path.
One issue I see is that the remote computer is running Server 2000 (legacy software incompatable with newer versions)
Is it possible that this is a security issue, since if i understand correctly the current MS domain security model didn't exist until Server 2003.Hi REIData,
Have you got the issue resolved? Based on your description, please make sure the target folder is shared properly. If the computer on which the SQL Server Agent job runs doesn’t join the domain as the server that hosts the shared folder, you have to share
the folder with everyone by adding “Everyone” to the people list on the File Sharing page of the folder and assign "Read/Write" permission to it.

SSIS package fails when it is executed by procedure (2008)
Hi there,
I have a very anoying problem with SSIS. I've done new packages into same project, almost identical compared to old ones. They work well in visual studio, but I can't execute them using procedure. Old packages works just fine, but none of the new. Error
message is in the end of my story.
Visual Studio version is 9.0.30729.1 and SQL Server version is 10.0.4000.0. Is it possible, that these not not updated versions could cause this problem?
Package ProtectionLevel is DonSaveSensitive.

Compressor fails when using FCP "export to Compressor"
I have a 6-minute long, ProRes422 (HQ) project that I'm trying to export uncompressed.
I'm trying to avoid the typical "Export QuickTime Movie" function because I get awful gamma shift issues. The colors are washed out and the image just looks like complete garbage compared to what I'm seeing in my FCP canvas. When I export using Compressor, the issue is a lot less severe.
Now, when I export a small part of the project using Compressor at ProRes422 (HQ) settings--say, a few seconds or so--it exports just fine.
But when I try and export the entire sequence, things get wonky. It starts exporting and the progress bar churns along ... then the project bar goes blank and the time reads, "Unknown time remaining" ... then the progress bar starts again ... and then again, blank with "unknown time remaining." Finally it just gives up and says, "Failed."
I have no idea what's causing this problem--but I've tried exporting to ProRes422 (HQ) 6 different times, and it has failed every time. I've exported the same sequence to H264, using Compressor, with no problems at all.
Thoughts?Hi chris, have u made any progress with this? If not, then it's worth trying to isolate the problems to transcode your distribution on compressor.app?
Questions:
1) Despite your reluctance :) , to export a master from FCPX as part of your workflow, does FCPX render the storylines (project) out completely? And .. Then...
2) does the project play back from within FCPX to your satisfaction?
If not then determination of issues should be directed to the elements , objects and effects n transforms you used for your FCPX project composition
Else, If 100% expectation from FCPX as a above, Then proceed to compressor And Qmaster problem determination.
As posted many times in this forum, a workflow involving a "send to compressor" from with FCPX etc, involves building a transient master to hand off to compressor.
It's possible that the compressor and Qmaster structures in your home directory are corrupt and it's very simple to fix.
And yes, FCPX CANNOT take advantage of a qmaster cluster when submission of the transcode is made directly from FCPX.... (Old news)
So..
Look in /var/logs (console.app) for any obvious errors as well.
Check out this thread for example.. 3rd or 4th post down...(there anew many similar procedures in these forums) ..
Preserve your settings and destinations from compressor if u have than Just clean out the Compressor and Qmaster structure... Reset Qmaster if u intend to use it.

Invoking a call to a window executable fails when request output to file
Hi,
When invoking a call to a window executable it fails(returns 1 instead of 0) when requesting output to file by using "> filename.txt". This nornally works when run directly within a
windows command prompt, and it also works if I don't add the "> filename.txt" at the end. Also instead of outputting to a file I would like the same called executable to output to a memory variable that I can extract data without going to a external text file.
Below is the .java file
package com.insequence.gv;
public class Jinvoker {
public static int invoke(String program) throws java.io.IOException, java.lang.InterruptedException
System.out.println("invoking program: " + program);
Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(program);
int exitValue = p.waitFor();
return exitValue;
public static void main(String[] argv)
try
System.out.println("invoker start");
// int retval = invoke("c:\\tvalesky\\java\\invoker\\targetexe arg1 arg2 arg3");
// int retval = invoke("C:\\Program Files\\FWTools1.1.0\\bin\\gdalinfo.exe C:\\data\\EarthData2005\\Ortho\\no_collaged.tif");
String arg1 = "C:\\data\\EarthData2005\\Ortho\\no_collaged.tif > c:\\testing.txt";
// String arg1 = "C:\\data\\EarthData2005\\Ortho\\no_collaged.tif";
int retval = invoke("C:\\Program Files\\FWTools1.1.0\\bin\\gdalinfo.exe " + arg1);
// int retval = invoke("C:\\Program Files\\FWTools1.1.0\\bin\\gdalinfo.exe");
// String arg1 = "-s_srs epsg:26915 -t_srs epsg:4326 C:\\data\\EarthData2005\\Ortho\\no_collaged.tif C:\\data\\EarthData2005\\Ortho\\no_collaged2.tif";
// int retval = invoke("C:\\Program Files\\FWTools1.1.0\\bin\\gdalwarp.exe " + arg1);
// int retval = invoke("C:\\testing.bat C:\\data\\EarthData2005\\Ortho\\no_collaged2.tif");
System.out.println("invoker end: returned " + retval);
catch(java.io.IOException e)
System.out.println("IOException caught: " + e);
catch(java.lang.InterruptedException e)
System.out.println("InterruptedException caught: " + e);
Thanks,
John MitchellWell, if you ultimately want the output from the process, you don't need to redirect it to a file first. Just read from the standard output of the process. See [url http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/lang/Process.html#getInputStream()]Process.getInputStream and Process.getErrorStream. You'll need to read from both simultaneously so you'll need to create two threads. You could also use [url http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/lang/ProcessBuilder.html]ProcessBuilder if you're using Java 1.5

Execute Applescript fails when run as part of Automator action
I have an automator action whose first step is an Execute Applescript to drive a spaces switch:
_Execute Applescript_
<pre>on run
tell application "System Events"
keystroke "2" using {control down}
end tell
return true
end run</pre>
When I click the "Run" button in the upper left of the Execute Applescript window in Automator, the script runs and the screen switches spaces.
But, if I run the whole Automator Action, it always fails on this first action. I think it's because I'm not handling input and parameters correctly, but I can't figure it out. If I add them ( On Run {input, parameters} ) then the Applescript itself does not work and also still does not work when I run the whole Automator action.
Can someone help me get the syntax right on this?
Thanks!All I can get out of the Automator interface is "Action Failed". The second action is a Pause [15] seconds, but I'm certain it never gets there. When the Automator action fails, the applescript does not produce any result. Spaces does not switch. But again, if I click the "run" button in Automator's Execute Applescript window, the applescript will produce results and switch to spaces 2.
I originally got instructions here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1206636&tstart=134
When I couldn't get it to work, I posted a thread here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1378261&tstart=30
Which prompted me to add the OnRun wrapper, still have problems, and finally post on this forum instead of that one because is seems to be a very automator-specific problem.
Thanks for any help, -
Execute Applescript in Automator: fails when running Automator action
I am trying to get a simple Automator action to switch spaces every so often. I'm following directions found on MacScripter. The Applescript runs and works on it's own, or when I run the applescript from inside the Execute Applescript window of Automator. But when I run the automator action, the Execute Applescript action fails. Here's the Applescript code I've entered into the Execute Applescript window:
tell application "System Events"
keystroke "2" using control down
end tell
Again, this runs and does what it should if I click the Run button in the Execute Applescript window of the automator action. It fails when I run the whole automator action. This Execute Applescript is the first action in the automator sequence.
What am I missing?
Thanks!Are you using the Run AppleScript action's run handler? The parameters are used to connect the action to Automator:
<pre style="
font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;
font-size: 10px;
margin: 0px;
padding: 5px;
border: 1px solid #000000;
width: 720px;
color: #000000;
background-color: #FFDDFF;
overflow: auto;"

on run {input, parameters}

keystroke "2" using control down
end tell
return input
end run

ENDYou can search the forums for that error message and find previous discussions - they all boil down to the same problem. Somewhere in your query that calls this function, the code invoked implicitly converts from string to date/datetime. In general,
this works in any version of sql server if the runtime settings are correct for the format of the string data. The fact that it works in one server and not in another server suggests that the query executes with different settings - and I'll assume for
the moment that the format of the data involved in this conversion is consistent within the database/resultset and consistent between the 2 servers.
I suggest you read Tibor's guide to the datetime datatype (via the link to his site below) first - then go find the actual code that performs this conversion. It may not be in the function you posted, since that function also executes other functions.
You also did not post the query that calls this function, so this function may not, in fact, be the source of the problem at all.

FTP Put fails when there is no pre-existing file present in the directory
Hi All,
In our process we use the FTP adapter to write a file to a location. This operation fails when there is no preexisting file on the output directory.
So we placed a zero byte file on the directory and tested and the adapter was able to create the output file but when the files were deleted from the output directory the file transfer failed again.
We got the below error
Non Recoverable System Fault :
Exception occured when binding was invoked. Exception occured during invocation of JCA binding: "JCA Binding execute of Reference operation 'Put' failed due to: Invalid Output Directory. Invalid Output Directory. The value specified for the output (Physical/Logical)Directory interaction parameter or jca binding property has an invalid value "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX" Ensure that the following conditions are satisfied for the output directory : 1) It exists and is a directory (not a file). and 2) It is writable (file write permissions). and 3) If using a logical name, then ensure that the mapping from logical name<->physical directory is correctly specified in the deployment descriptor. ". The invoked JCA adapter raised a resource exception. Please examine the above error message carefully to determine a resolution.
Kindly help us resolve the issue.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Balaji RBalaji,
This operation fails when there is no preexisting file on the output directory I'm not sure I understood this declaration.
Why do you need to have preexisting file on the output directory?
If it fails, with the mentioned error, it means that something was not defined properly.
OR
Another option is permissions.
Check that your local system user (I guess orabi) has a write permission on the target directory (on the FTP host).

END;
the above code is executing the output but it is asking the AUTHENTICATION TO OID(Oracle Internet Directory). If i give this id then only the Output is displaying..
in WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT i mentioned that userid is DB id... if it is wrong
which id i have to specify.
and The report is located in Reportserver . and it is added to Form. in report node.
it is an urgent requirement.
Thanks & Regards
Gagan.Hello,
Have you created a "reports object" in Forms ?
(watch under the Reports node in the "Object Navigator".

DTEXEC does not fail when SSIS package fails
I need to run my SSIS 2012 packages through the catalog with DTEXEC. This works very well, except that if my SSIS package fails, DTEXEC does not fail. I need DTEXEC to fail, so my scheduler knows that there is an error.
I use the following command:
dtexec /ISServer "\SSISDB\MyFolder\MyProject\MyPackage.dtsx" /Ser MyServer /Par $Package::Partition;201412 /Env 5
When I check the status of the run in the Catalog, it is failed.
When I used SSIS 2008, I had no problem getting DTEXEC to fail when the packages failed.I've had the same problem, and come up with the following prototype for a SQL Script which I run in our JAMS Enterprise Scheduler. It uses SSISDB stored procedures to start the SSIS package and polls every 5 seconds to report any messages, and final
status code of the package. JAMS parameters are delimited by << >> symbols, and will need to be changed for your scheduler/batch process. I guess the script could be converted to a stored procedure. I'm also hoping it will work with SQL High
Availability groups to ensure the SSIS package runs on the server that's hosting the active database.

Authentication to agent workstation failed when trying to run a test in Oracle Test Manager
I have the complete version of OATS installed on my local machine. I have the OracleATSHelper, OracleATSServer and OracleATSAgent services running.
In OTM when I go to run an openscript test I select the system, type the version number and hit run and get a "Authentication to agent workstation failed" error in the summary field.
It worked before but I cant figure out why it isnt working anymore.
Can anyone help?ATS Version: 12.3.0.1.0 build 376
I am getting the same error when trying to execute a script from OTM - "Authentication to agent workstation failed".
I have the OTM server on a remote (server) machine and the Oracle Agent is running on my laptop / workstation. I've tried all I have seen on this thread, but no progress. The manager is now in manual mode and the console only provides the following output:
D:\OracleATS\agentmanager\bin>d:\OracleATS\agentmanager\bin\AgentManagerService.exe -c AgentManagerService.conf
wrapper | --> Wrapper Started as Console
wrapper | Launching a JVM...
jvm 1 | Wrapper (Version 3.0.3)
jvm 1 |
One different thing, maybe, I see is that the agentmanager_auth.log is empty always.
Also, on the server, I've added this SYSTEM successfully, i.e.the Testing of the SYSTEM added in OTM always gives the success message "The system specified can be successfully accessed by the Oracle Test Manager server." . In fact it does this even when I provide an incorrect password! -
Compressor fails .avi convert
Hi all,
I'm trying to batch convert .avi files to either Quicktime H.264 or DV NTSC. Both fail, and I can't figure out why.
When trying to convert to H.264, Compressor errors out with: "Quicktime Error: -120". When trying to convert to DV NTSC, Compressor errors out with: "Quicktime Error: 10006".
These error messages must mean something, so why not just output the error in human readable form instead of meaningless codes? Ridiculous.
I should also note that converting these files to DV NTSC succeeded in Quicktime. So Compressor failing makes no sense to me.
I need Compressor to work for me consistently. Why Quicktime would work and Compressor wouldn't is baffling. Don't they use the same engine to convert files?
Any help would be very much appreciated!Hi Jon,
I actually got this fixed (somewhat) before reading you post. Thanks for your help though!
I ran Disk Utility, and repaired permissions. Like I suspected, Quicktime 7 barfed up all kinds of errors, including that the user was set to 501 instead of 0 (501 is a temp user, if memory serves me correctly).
I had moved beyond trying to batch convert, and was trying to send a project to Compressor from FCP. Compressor came up with an error stating that I could not save to my destination because I don't have read/write access to it (not true according to Get Info, and aside from the fact that "Ignore ownership on this volume" is selected). When I moved the destination to my Desktop, Compressor started the conversion, failed, and produced a file on my desktop that was immoveable and un-erasable. This file was not seen by the Terminal (I'm fairly handy at the command line). Weird.
So, I restarted, and that file disappeared. Compressor has just finished my conversion, and all is well with the world.
That is, expect that Compressor still tells me that I don't have write permissions to the source folder of my FCP project.
At this point, I'm just glad I could do the conversion (I'm on a deadline), but this is an issue that needs to be addressed. Assuming, of course, that I can replicate the issue.
And more to the point, I'd like to know how Quicktime 7 got so screwed up. I haven't used Compressor in a week, and it worked fine the last time I tried it. I also haven't messed with any settings, etc. so I'd like to know what the heck is going on.
I'm sure I'll be working with more .AVI files in the immediate future, so I'll try to repost with my experiences then.
Thanks again for your help Jon!
Josh
