Compressor is not supported on dual quadcore MacPro (12gb RAM/ATI4870)

MacPro dual-quadcore with 12gb RAM and ATI radeon 4870 (512MB RAM):
- Installed MacOS X Server 10.6 successfully
- Installed Final Cut Server 1.5 successfully
- Launched Compressor and got this error:
"This system does not meet the following min. requirements:
64MB VRAM and Quartz Extreme capable video card"
Excuse me?
Can someone help me out here?
NOTE: The server , of course, is headless. There's no monitor attached to it, as it is a... server.

Here's the solution creating a dummy vga connector so that mac thinks it has a monitor connected to the vga port.

    Try this: Use the [√]Mirror displays oprions, choose your resolution, then desect the [  ]Mirror displays.
    It shouldn't supossed to be like this, but until they send an update, this workarround will work.

  • Why won't msword open on my macpro says it is not supported and the operating system is OS x

    Why won't MS word open on my MacPro.  Operating system is OS X (OS 10.6.8) and computer tells me the application is not supported?

    Are you sure you're running 10.6.8 and not Lion (10.7)? That sounds like what happens when you try to launch a Motorola (G4/G5) app on an Intel system running Lion since they removed the emulation layer.

  • DualCoreCenter error - "Dual Core Center does not support!"

    Hi, just bought the insanely expensive MSI 8800 GTX Ulta OC (£457), which seems to ship with insanely cheap utilities.
    I installed the Dual Core Center (after installing the 'latest' nvidia driver 158.22).
    During the install, it insisted on a net framework 2 repair/uninstall for some unknown reason (I have net framework 2 and 3 installed - ie all latest xp patches) with no prior problems.
    Anyway, I let it do the repair and install itself.
    Now when I run the DualCoreCentre, it comes up with error msg: "Dual Core Center does not support!"
    Can someone shed light on what that means please.
    Thanks...

    It means:
    I suck, don't use me!
    Stay away from MSI's utilities. If you want to overclock or control fan speeds or anything else.

  • "Dual Core Center does not support" error msg on K9N Platinum

    Hi,
    I just formated my system and installed all the drivers as I usually do. Last thing I installed was the Dual Core center. I cant make it run as I get "Dual Core Center does not support!" error message. I have an Athlon64 X2 4200+ with the latest cpu driver from AMD web site. Any idea on how I could make Dual Core Center work?
    Thank you.

    Oh ok.
    Well on the CD there is a Core Center, but on the site if you go deep into the specific motherboard download section there is a Dual Core Center. I guess it is for dual CPUs.
    I've download the AMD X2 Driver. I just wanted to use the Cool'N'Quiet option, since I was told that I needed the "Core Center" for that.

  • After install 10.5.7 update QMaster/Compressor hangs/not responding??

    I find it funny that the 10.5.7 update was supposed to "improve OS stability". Well it looks like all it has done is made my Mac a worthless pile of pooh.
    I have an older MacPro (2007) with two dual core processors (4 CPUs). I setup QMaster as QuickCluster with services (this is the only way Compressor will see it when I submit a batch). I selected 2 CPU instances. Hit "Submit" in Compressor and open the batch window, I see it "try" to parse out the video segments to 2 CPU instances, but get Audio successful and Video "Unknown" with a Service controller "error" and a progress bar for the main batch at 50% with time duration increasing (never decreases).
    So I bring up Activity Monitor and find that coreaudio is "not responding" compressor is "not responding" and final cut pro is "not responding" ... oh joy!!
    All this "used" to work before the 10.5.7 update, so what gives???
    How to reproduce on my hardware:
    1. Open FCP
    2. Create a Sequence
    3. Send Sequence to Compressor
    4. In Compress I have a predefined H.264 setting and destination with "Job segmenting" checked, hit submit
    5. Open batch window, look at 50% mark with errors mentioned above
    NOT very happy.
    Rob

    Compressor repair? Can you give me more details on what this is?
    I had FCP to Compressor using QMaster (2 CPU instances) working in 10.5.6. It created some bizarre project name under FCP (i.e. 13DAA64E-8A34-4476-A12B-86) but would work. With 10.5.7 the same steps just hang/fail -- fail as in they Submitted batch never completes (I can leave it for 10 hours on a H.264 small duration clip of 30 seconds).
    So now (with 10.5.7) the only way I can get Compressor and Qmaster to work is if I export sequence to QuickTime movie, close FCP, open Compressor create a new batch using the exported QT movie, set my settings/destination then submit. Which defeats the purpose of using a 2 Instance QMaster in the first place since I've had to introduce a Export to Quicktime in FCP. So essentially any benefit using 2 CPUs has been negated by the extra export step.
    Sorry for the frustration/tone, but if I wanted this much hassle with Mac software/OS, I would have just stayed exclusively on a Windows based platform -- as of right now I see very little difference between the two companies, both are not responsive to correct obvious problems and both create more work than solutions. I gotta wonder why I even selected to use a Mac and why I successfully converted at 11 friends over from Windows to Mac - SSDD.
    Frustrated.

  • "Mode not supported" when connecting MacBook Pro to HDTV

    When I connect my MacBook Pro to the SAMSUNG widescreen HDTV and hit "Detect Displays", it does detect it as VGA Display and it gives me a bunch of options for resolutions and refresh rates, but there was no "Options" tab where I could check or uncheck "Overscan" and even keeping the refresh rate at 60 Hz, and even trying mirrored and non-mirrored screens, nothing worked. It still said "Mode not supported". I used a dual-link DVI to YPbPr cable which I just bought and my friend can connect his MacBook Pro to his HDTV with the same cable, but it doesn't seem to work for me. What's wrong?

  • "Motion and Compressor Will Not Open Because Of A Problem"?

    Last week I installed FCS 3 on my iMac and everything appeared to work OK.
    However, as my iMac had been cluttered with rubbish for 2 years I erased the Hard Drive and reinstalled OSX 10.6.3 together with all FCS 3.
    I have only used FCP and STP since then but today I discovered that Motion and Compressor "will not open because of a problem".
    Here are the reports where it appears that in both cases the "Dyld Error Message", whatever that is, reports that "Library not loaded etc. etc."
    Incidentally there are mentions of 14 and 18 crashes since last reports. This is ridiculous as I have only just tried to open them 3 or 4 times in the last 5 minutes . . . . and the computer OS and apps are all freshly installed.

  • Vizio HDTV will not display - Not Support!

    Using Arch x86_64
    Nvidia 450 GTS
    Nvidia 430 GT
    So I am trying to output to my Vizio 37" HDTV via HDMI on my 450 GTS, but I always get the error "Not Support!" displayed on my TV. I have 3 monitors configured in nvidia-settings, all 3 are in the "separate X screens" configuration. I have an Acer 23" (DVI) and the Vizio on my 450 GTS and I have a 19" LG (also DVI) on my 430 GT.
    I have been able to get this working easily on past distros (ubuntu) but I fear this may have something do with the newer Xorg version from Arch, but I am not sure and would like to work around it if i can. Here is my Xorg.0.log file:

    Good to know that it was a simple fix - sometimes the most overlooked things lead to much frustration!

  • LCD Panel not supported (acpi brightness)

    Hi all,
    This is my first post, Hello!  I have used several distros but this is my first time using Arch.
    I have a dell d420 (dual core / intel graphics).  I have installed Arch with lxde / compiz.
    Things have been going pretty well so far, I really like the distro.  However, I am having problems with laptop-tools and adjusting the brightness of my lcd on AC acpi events.
    Basically, I have /etc/laptop-mode/conf.d/lcd-brightness.conf configured as follows:
    # Should laptop mode tools control LCD brightness?
    CONTROL_BRIGHTNESS=1
    # Commands to execute to set the brightness on your LCD
    BATT_BRIGHTNESS_COMMAND="echo 20"
    LM_AC_BRIGHTNESS_COMMAND="echo 70"
    NOLM_AC_BRIGHTNESS_COMMAND="echo 100"
    BRIGHTNESS_OUTPUT="/proc/acpi/video/VID/LCD/brightness"
    Further, laptop-mode is running and set up as a daemon.
    The problem is when I plug/unplug the power cable the brightness of the panel does not change in the way I would expect it to.  Sometimes it does not change at all, sometimes it gets brighter on battery than it does on AC!!!  The brightness keys on my laptop work fine (however, they are I believe prgrammed into the bios and rely on no software to adjust the panel.)
    Things I have installed / setup:
    acpid
    acpi
    laptop-tools
    I have noticed that there seems to be a problem recognising my panel, when I do a
    cat /proc/acpi/video/VID/LCD/brightness
    I get the response:
    <not supported>
    Also:
    cat /proc/acpi/video/VID/LCD/info
    device_id: 0x0400
    type: UNKNOWN
    known by bios: no
    I think this is the problem, as laptop-tools and acpi seem to be configured correclty apart from this issue.  Any thoughts?
    Many, thanks.

    OK, it looks like others have had a similar issue with the NVS 3100M adapter. I found this prior post:
    I followed the advice there and installed the 32 bit A08 driver that I found here:
    Now the backlight works fine on startup. Unfortunately my system has lost some other small functions and seems a bit slower, however, at least I can now work while I travel.
    It's a bit disappointing that newer drivers seem to break my computer. I'd very much like for that not to happen.
    Some steps of this, like updating the BIOS and installing the driver were a bit complicated, so I'm happy to give advice on how to do that if anyone needs. In the meantime if anyone has a better way to fix this, I'm keen to find out.

  • Does HP Pavilion p7-1154 support AMD Dual Graphics?

    I have a Pavilion p7-1154 - Serial no.{Removed for privacy} - The motherboard is an AAHD3-HB (stock MB) made by Pegatron. I have upgraded the stock RAM from 6 GB of 1333 to 16 GB of Corsair Vengence 1600 and upgraded the processor from an AMD A6 3600 to an AMD A8 3850, all according to the upgrade guide for this machine from HP. I've also upgraded the PSU from the stock 300w to a Corsair 500w 80Plus Bronze certified PSU.
    Now that's what I'done so far - what I want to know is does the MB (AAHD3-HB) support AMD Dual Graphics, using the suggested graphics cards, I would like to use a Radeon 6670 GPU.

    Mike, after consulting with other members, I believe that dual graphis is not available since it is not noted in the specs.
     However, here is a Youtube video about the CPU.  If you do find that you were able to use it by a BIOS change, please share that information with the forum.  Thanks!
