Compressor making MPEG/AC3 files of different lenghts when running 8 cores

Hey guys, first off I am running Compressor 3.0.2 on a MacPro 2.8 GHz 8 core machine. My problem is that my files come out to a different lenght when I use my qmaster cluster to access all 8 cores while encoding mov's to MPEG2 & AC3. The difference between MPEG and AC3's are normally between 3 and 12 frames.
What I have found is that if I use "My computer" instead of the cluster that files are exactly the same. It makes me think there is an error in the joining of the files at the end. Using my computer right now is an okay solution, but I rather use all 8 processors as it cuts compressing in half.
Matthew

hi matthew,
seems a lot of people are having similar problems with compressor 3.02 (see the thread i started a couple days ago..) for me it's sending uncompressed mov's to compressor that are 23.98 fps. what is the framerate of your movies?

  • Making MPEG 4 files from FCPX 10.1

    I miss the quicktime conversion option in FCP 10.1 that I had on my FCP6 to create MPEG 4 files. It seems that I have to either route my finished .mov through Compressor or Aimersoft, or other like programs. Is that correct? If so, any recommendations on free apps to do the same conversion?

    goo' ol' Mpeg Streamclip
    open your h264-export from FCPX with it
    go straight to 'Save as'
    select from drop-down 'mp4'
    => this will just re-wrap the file - done in seconds!

  • Process.Start - getting different output when running command using this method than I am if I run same command in CMD prompt

    Hi
    Creating an application to analyze .dmp files - all working well except this odd issue
    If I open command prompt and enter this command:-
    kd -z C:\Windows\MiniDump\042414-24632-01.dmp -c "!analyze -v"
    Then it works and shows me all the output I need (shown at bottom of post)
    If I run same command in VB.net using following code - then it doesn't give the same output - the bits I need at the end created by the !analyze -v switch don't appear
    Any ideas why it is not seeing the switch correctly - setting a breakpoint and checking contents of startinfo seems to be showing correct cmd line i.e. "kd -z C:\windows\minidump\042414-24632-01.dmp -c "!analyze –v;q""
    Dim myprocess As New Process()
    myprocess.StartInfo.FileName = "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.1\Debuggers\x86\kd"
    myprocess.StartInfo.Arguments = "-z C:\windows\minidump\042414-24632-01.dmp -c ""!analyze –v;q"""
    myprocess.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = False
    myprocess.StartInfo.RedirectStandardOutput = True
    myprocess.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = True
    myprocess.Start()
    TextBox1.AppendText(myprocess.StandardOutput.ReadToEnd())
    Output when run from cmd prompt:-
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.1\Debuggers\x86>kd -z C:\Windows\MiniDump\042414-24632-01.dmp -c "!analyze -v;q"

    Try it by opening the Cmd prompt as the actual process and passing the Filename and its arguments as the arguments of the Cmd process.  If you notice there is a "-C" before the Filename and Arguments in this example.  The "-C"
    tells the cmd to execute the commands and then close itself.  You can also use a "-K" which tells the cmd to execute the commands and keep itself open.  Being you are not showing the cmd window you don`t want to keep it opened because the
    user can`t close it so, that is why i used "-C".
     I don`t have the program so, you can just experiment to see what it does.  Maybe you should try using "-K" and show the cmd window by commenting out the CreateNoWindow line so you can see what is in the cmd window while testing.

    >nul 2>nul dir /a-d "Folder\config64\*" /s && (XCOPY "%~dp0Folder\config64\File64.ini" "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\CompanyFolder\ProductFolder\" /y /d) || (XCOPY "%~dp0Folder\config32\File32.ini" "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\CompanyFolder\ProductFolder\" /y /d)
    UAC is turned off and I'm the administrator (only user on a standalone PC) running windows 8.1.
    Is there a reason or it is a strange bug with Windows 8.1?

    A LOT  more intellectual than
    Frederik Long Who just had no clue himself to not offer an answer. As I've only been looking at this for 2 weeks I think I've come far and you help is much appreciated. Thank you JRV!
    You seem to miss the point. Assuming that your problem is caused by a bug can prevent you from finding the real cause. If you had dismissed the bug theory then you might have done some real debugging, e.g. by breaking up your single-line script (which is
    hard to comprehend) into easily digestible pieces and adding some debugging code like so:
    @echo off
    set Target="%ProgramFiles(x86)%\ComapanyFolder\ProductFolder\"
    dir /a-d "Folder\config64\*" /s 1>c:\Test.log 2>&1
    if %ErrorLevel% EQU 0 (
    XCOPY "%~dp0Folder\config64\File64.ini" %Target% /y /d /s 1>>c:\Test.log 2>>&1
    ) else (
    XCOPY "%~dp0Folder\config32\File32.ini" %Target% /y /d /s 1>>c:\Test.log 2>>&1
    The log file would have told you quickly what is going on. Furthermore - why should I offer my own solution to your problem when JRV gave you a perfect answer straight away?

  • Downloading the file in our PC , when running the job in Background

    Hi,
    We have an enquiry for below requirment.
    Our client runs some jobs in front end , but as the time taken to execute the JOB is more than 15 minutes  , he is getting timeout problem, so we want to run the same program in background.
    Generally the output of the report is to download the file into his desktop,  so even when he is running
    the same job in background he want it to be downloaded into his PC, instead of application servor.
      We created a test program similar to the requirment, and ran the job in foreground and the file could easily be downloaded to desktop. Then we ran the program in backgound - The job failed with an error message  Codepage could not be determined  - Message no. FES025.
    My Question is - is it possible to download the file into the desktop while running in background.
    Please help me .
    Thanks in advance.

  • Get Generic File I/O Error when running DAQ Reference Design

    I Get a Generic File I/O Error when trying to Save Data to Disk in Data Acquisition Reference Design.lvproj from daq_ref_app_v10.zip in LabVIEW 9, If I configure to simulate one channel, start the acquisition, stop the acquisition and then save the data to disk, I get the generic file I/O and:
    Error 6 occurred at TDMS Open in Data Acquisition Reference Design.lvlib:Logging [TDMS].lvlib:TDMS Data Logging.vi->Data Acquisition Reference Design.lvlib:Main.vi
    Shouldn't this work without error?
    Should NI distribute Reference Desgins that work without errors?
    What is the problem with this application?

    This error usually occurs because of malformed file paths. Put an indicator on the path before the TDMS Open so you can see the path explicitely. Make sure you have full permissions for the directory in which you will be saving and make sure that the path isn't greater than 255 characters.

    QT Pro does not "do" multiplexed compression formats. For that you would need an external, third-party, MPEG-based application. iDVD, Toast, Visual Hub, iVCD, MPEG2 Works, etc. would work here to create some of these formats. QT Pro, MPEG Streamclip, and GarageBand can all create DivX and/or XviD files if you have the appropriate QT components installed. (Not sure if you can still find DivX 3 but assume free download of DivX 5.1.1, 5.2.1, and/or Xvid are still readily available on the internet.)

  • Video and Audio Files are different lengths when exporting

    I'm just trying to get comforatable with a much faster Windows workstation on PPro and AE.
    I just exported my first project from PPro to burn to Blu-ray like I've done dozens of times on our older Mac Pro w/o problems.
    My Ppro file is 7:04:18 in length.  I export the video as an mp2 Blu-ray video and import it into Encore and it shows up at that same length.
    I export the audio as an aif and import it into Encore and it shows up as 7:06:19 in length--2 seconds and 1 frame longer.
    Everything is CS6.  File is 1920 x 1080, sq pixels, 29.97.
    Any suggestions as to why this is happening?

    Thanks for the feedback.  I exported to aif as I was going to burn the Blu-ray on our Mac Pro in Encore, since we don't yet have a Blu-ray burner installed in our new Windows workstation.
    Upon seeing your note, I re-exported the project as you described and placed the wav and mp2 in Windows Encore and they are both the same time length.
    It seems the aif should be the same too... but I assume wav is likely the preferred format on Windows so will be using that as the new workflow.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Finding files on different drives when the drive names were changed

    So I had music located on two different external HD's, and when I plugged in my iPod, it changed the names of my drives. For example, I had music on drive "H" and drive "I", then when I plugged in my iPod it changed those drive names to "J" and "K". It is easy to change my folder location in iTunes, but that will only fix half of my music (I have over 45,000 songs in my library). How can I have iTunes find all those other songs that now have the exclamation point as the songs are spread out now throughout my iTunes library.
    I can not go along to each song or album and go through the process to find the location, that will take me FOREVER.
    Thanks for your help

    Connect the external drives & the iPod. Close iTunes. Open Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management. Reassign the drive letters used by each device until they match your original set-up. Start iTunes and, if you've got it right, all your tracks will be acessible.

  • Making the data file visible as the vi runs and writes to it

    This is a rather simple question but I want to make sure I that I know how to do it and do it right. I am writing to a text file and would like to make it visible as the vi runs and updates it. Thanks.

    If you are using this for the purpose of de-bugging your program, I like the idea Tomoya wrote about using a probe to see what is going to the text file. It's very simple.
    If you are trying to do this at runtime, I would handle it this way : In a loop seperate from the one that does the writing, use a file properties vi to get file size and compare it to the last file size query (use a shift register for this). If the file size has changed, re-read and display the contents of the file to a front panel text box. Otherwise do nothing.
    For a more programatically correct method, use a semaphore or queue to tell the update loop that its time to re-read. The writing loop would (after write) set the queue element (or semaphore). The reading loop would wait on this trigg
    er to know when to read.

  • "create pdf compatible file" gets tuned off when running batch

    I created an action that resizes an image and the saves it in the same format (AI) and then close the file. Next I open the AI formatted file I just created in PhotoShop it opens and looks great. So I go back to Illustrator and run the same action in a batch where I open a folder containing AI files run the action and save the files in a different folder. Now I try to open the files in PhotoShop and find out that the batch function some how turned off create pdf compatible file option when it got to save as in the action so now Im unable to open the file in PhotoShop. Im new to illustrator Im using cs4. Thank you for reading do you have any ideas?

    Thanks to all, I really appreciate all the pains which all of you have taken in resolving my problem.
    It wasn't Java problem, rather batch file problem. I was only changing the directory, and was not providing for the exe file to run.
    @echo off
    cd  "C:\JBoss\jboss-4.0.5.GA\bin\Fastran"
    "C:\JBoss\jboss-4.0.5.GA\bin\Fastran\FASTRAN.EXE"
    ren FTN04 FTN04i
    EXIT
    :finishNow it is working fine.
    I did check the access permissions, no problem with that I guess. The problem was with the path. The batch file couldnt go pass bin directory, and I noticed that only today ;(. At any rate, I changed that and now it is all smooth and dandy.
    Once again, thanks a lot.

  • End of File reached error message when running report

    I am running this report in two different places.  On my own machine it seems to run fine however when I run it for a client on their server I get a message saying end of file reached and the report won't come up.  Any suggestions?

    Hi Jeff,
    In what context are you running the report?  Are you talking about refreshing the data?
    Is this in crystalreports.com or the CR designer or some custom built application?
    This forum is specifically for the crystalreports.com, Information OnDemand, and Applications OnDemand web applications so this might be the wrong place for your question.  You might want to try the Crystal Reports Design or one of the Crystal Reports SDK forums instead.

  • Different behavior when running in Eclipse and on Tomcat

    I am having a problem because the program that I wrote, tested, and work fine on Eclipse doesn't have the same behavior when I convert it to a Web Service and called by a client.
    I have not this strange behavior. See this code:
    NamedNodeMap attrs = node.getAttributes();
    System.out.println(attrs.getNamedItem("performance"));When I run it on exist I got something like this:
    org.apache.crimson.tree.AttributeNode1@11bed71which should be correct since attrs.getNamedItem() return a Node.
    But! When I run it as a web service on Axis hosted on Tomcat I got
    performance="3758.0"???!!!
    Also, when I do something like
    System.out.println(node)In Eclipse I got the whole XML file like this:
    <root><sequence name="main" performance="3591.5" cost="63.5" reliability="4144965.2" availability="0.9863115" integrity="1.0" security="128.0">

                   </otherwise>
              </switch>
         </sequence></root>but on Axis I got:
    [root: null]I'm confused. I think it might be because of the different version of the library between eclipse environment and axis environment. But the problem is, I can't figure out what JAR should I change. Can you give me a clue??

    DOM doesn't specify what the toString() method of Node etc. should return. So each implementation of DOM chooses something that seems reasonable to the implementers. If this isn't suitable for you then don't use the toString() method. (That's what System.out.println calls when you pass it an Object, in case you didn't know.)

  • "file corrupt" error message when running full installer - normal installer won't work either.

    I was having serious problems displaying images/video, so uninstalled so I could reinstall. Big mistake - ever since I've done this, FF absolutely won't install. The normal install .EXE(I'm using Windows 7) always gets to about a millimeter to the left in the status bar of where it crosses from "downloading" to "installing." I then tried the full installer in all 3 versions of English, all of which simply pop up a window saying "file is corrupt" with no explanation or options. Please help. I work from home and absolutely have to use FF as my browser for my job, and I'm missing an entire shift today because of it. Thanks!

    You're welcome

  • "File download - security warning" when running a report

    Hi all,
    Few of our users are having an error on their PCs when trying to run a report in Internet Explorer 8 with Adobe Reader 10.1.3 installed on their PCs. The error is:
    "File Download - Security Warning"
    Do you want to save this file, or find a program online to open it?
    Name: rwservlet
    Type: Unknown File Type
    Find Save Cancel
    Other users are able to run the reports. They have IE8 and Adobe Reader 10.1.2 installed. Any ideas why this problem might occur?
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi,
    what is the behavior if you leave adobe Reader opened and running before running the report?
