Compressor Not Working

I purchased DVD Studio Pro 4 (upgrade from 3) when it was a stand alone application. It is installed on my G5 computer running Tiger and FCE. I acquired a new Intel iMac running the most recent version of Snow Leopard and I installed DVD Studio Pro and FCE on the new machine. As soon as I get the applications working on the new machine do I need to delete them from the G5 or is it ok to leave them on the G5 as long an I don't run them at the same time?
Here is my primary question: Compressor 2 included with DVD Studio Pro is not working properly on the iMac, as I get an error message when I submit a project. I think I need to re-install DVD Studio Pro to fix the problem. What is the best way to do that? Do I uninstall the existing program (and how do I do that) before re-installing DVDSP and should I start with DVDSP 3 and upgrade to 4?
Appreciate advice.

I reinstalled DVDSP on my iMac and Compressor still didn't work. I think the problem must be that Compressor 2 does not work with Snow Leopard and Intel machines. So I give up and will wait to purchase the new Final Cut Pro X.

Out-oh. I recently upgraded to a new MacBook pro and reinstalled the final cut suite. I'm running Mac OSX 10.6.2 and compressor 3.0.5. Compressor opens fine, but when I submit a job, it says, "Unable to submit to queue, please restart your computer or verify Compressor installation is correct."
Restarting is no help. Any ideas?
I'm afraid I'm going to have to re-install. But if I do that, what's stopping it from not working again? I just reinstalled the whole suite.

Compressor not working with mavericks

My Compressor is not working with FCP get error code, and will not open, gives message can't use with OSX I have and have Compressor 4.0. Of course, Mavericks was free and now have to spend money to get new version of Compressor. No updates are showing in Apple Store. Anyone have a resolution or am I going to have to buy new Compressor?

Compressor not working but i'm not running FCP

Hello, had a search for this but couldn't see anything on this particular topic.
My MacBook Pro has started running very slowly. I have just upgraded to Photoshop CS4 and the comp is running really slowly but when i've looked in activity monitor i can see that Compressor TranscoderX is not responding. I have no idea why it is running as i'm not using final cut at the same time as photoshop and when i export .mov files from ps i don't ever compress them.
Anyone any thoughts? I don't actually need compressor as far as i know so should i just lob it in the trash.

Compressor not working on FCPX 10.0.8

I purchased Compressor back in March 2014 and compressed my project with no problem. I tried compressing another project this morning and a popup said, "This version of Compressor requires FCP 10.1.2". It continues to say that I need to update my FCP. Does this mean I need to purchase a new version of FCP? Seems like I wasted money on Compressor if it doesn't work after 6 months passed between projects.

Guessing that you are exporting using the Send to Compressor command. If your versions aren't the latest for each app, and for some reason you don't want to update, then exporty a master file and bring that into Compressor.

Compressor not working after archive & Install of OSX

Greetings,
I was getting TONS of kernal panics, and I had to archive and re-install OSX (which fixed the panics). Now Compressor will not submit to the queue. When I hit submit, cluster has no options in the drop down (I usually use 'this computer', which isn't there).
If I hit 'submit', it says 'Unable to Submit to Queue: Please restart your computer or verify your Compressor installation is correct.'
I tried re-starting with the same results. Anyone know my next step? Verify my installation is correct doesn't seem to make sense to me. What do they mean by verify? 'Yup Compressor is on the harddrive'????

Compressor not working, apple qmaster crashing system preferences

I am back on final cut pro 6.0 and now things are worse.
compressor still is asking to connect to the internet in order to work.
when I try to go to system preferences and open up apple q master, it is crashing.
please help

In examining all the issues you have had and all the advice given, I strongly suggest to install Leopard and updates and FCS2 and updates on an internal new drive in your MacPro, and then use that as a boot drive.
These are bugs you are posting about; they are the results of a skewed install procedure in my and many others' opinions.

Send to compressor not working

I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure this out. I have a brand new 27" iMac with a 3.4 Ghz i7 and 8 GB of memory running Lion (from the factory). I installed FCPX and Compressor 4 from the app store, and for a while everything seemed to be working fine. The other day, I attempted to export a project from FCP to Compressor via the "export to compressor" command, and it didn't do anything. The program just sat there as if I hadn't told it do anything.
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing both FCP and Compressor, to no avail. I have tried deleting preferences. About the only thing I haven't tried is doing a complete re-stage of the computer.
Has anyone else had this issue? Anybody know of any fixes before I wipe the entire system?

Why Does Multi-band Compressor Not Work In Adobe Audition 3.0 Anymore????!!!

When I went into Adobe Audition 3.0 to put Multi-Band Compression on my voiceover I recorded...I noticed that all of the drop-down choices are gone...except... "Default"...which does not give me the effect on my voice that I want. How could that possibly have happened, and how can I restore all those choices? I already un-installed and re-installed Adobe Audition 3.0.

This is a slightly longer explanation of what ryclark wrote, and with probably the only solution that will work for you. I say probably, because I haven't ever needed to do this for myself. Others have reported that it works, and that's what I'm relying on here!
So, what format are you opening the file in in Windows Media Player? If you open the MP3 it won't have a problem, because the MP3 file is severely compressed. It's only when you expand it out and try to save (or open, even) it so that it looks like a wav file that you have the problems. Because of the wav file size limit, you can't have a single wav file at anything like a sensible sample rate that will last that long. This isn't an Audition limit, it's imposed by the maximum address size you can write to the file header.
The way around this is to import the file into Multitrack view, because this has the ability to split files and use the extra chunks in the broadcast wav specification to appear to open a much larger file. In reality it isn't though - it's just stitching together the several max length wav files that expanding the MP3 file out created. But you wouldn't be able to save this as a giant wav file, simply because of the addressing limitiations, which remain. What it should do though is let you extract sections from it, and open and subsequently save them in Edit view.

Final Cut Pro and Compressor not working

I know this has been asked before, but I didn't find a solution to my problem yet.
Ever since I upgraded to Mavericks, I can't export any movies.
I get the following message: The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.Compressor.CompressorKit.ErrorDomain error -1.)
And when I send the movie to compressor, I get the video rendering error: 60.
I'm at a loss and would really apprecciate your help.

It's probably the flux capacitor ... just give it a gentle but firm tap about 2 inches below the indent (just behid the mounting bracket) ... don't leave the tap on when you go out though or you will flood the bathroom.

Compressor 2 not working in FCP 5

I'm having a problem with Compressor 2 and FCP 5.
For the past several months, I had FCP 5 and Compressor 2 working on
my 800ghz G4 Titanium powerbook. No problems.
However, I needed to go back to FCP 4.5 for compatibility issues with other
machines at work.
Long story short, I couldn't get 4.5's compressor working, and when I Reloaded FCP 5 again, compressor is just whited out when I try to export
from the timeline. Even when I try to load the compressor program by itself, it won't open,
although it shows up in the applications.
I've removed preferences and plists, but nothing is helping.
Any input would be appreciated.

Is the problem I related somehow linked to DVDSP2 being there?
I don't know. However, a good place to start is to de-install anything that is related to Compressor and this note from Apple is the only official document that lists all of the Compressor related files. True, it's for Compressor 1.X, but Compressor 2 is similar and this should give you a start on cleaning up your system.

I suspect you are attempting to burn an HD DVD, which will not play on a DVD player...
But if you provide more details such as the settings you are applying in Compressor, then we would be able to provide you more accurate information.
How are you adding the files to Compressor?
In FCP, what are your footage properties (command-9) and sequence settings (command-0)

Progress bar in compressor 4.1.2 not working - Why

While in the active window compressor is working but does not give me a progrss time or a progress bar - so I have to walk away and wait a couple of hours not knowing the movie is compressed. Why?

In the process of doing a screen shot - I discovered that the progress bar and timer work fine if I use any setting except ProRes 442. Not sure I know why?

Quick Clusters not working in Compressor 4.0.5

OK. One day Compressor is working with a quick cluster set up and today it's not. All the settings are correct in QMaster and everything seems to be the same BUT Compressor 4.0.5 is not recognizing any cluster set up. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is it a 10.8.2 issue? All input is welcomed.

The Require these Services box should be unchecked, but I doubt that's your problem. Funnily enough I lost my QC last week. What worked for me was running Compressor Repair twice – quitting– each time trashing preferences – and repairing permissions in Disk Utility after each repair.
If that doesn't work, I'd reinstall (and repair permissions once again).
